LOOPEKER. Rene Born July 14th, 1950 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, raised in Ottawa, Ontario and formerly of Vancouver, British Columbia. It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Rene. He died quietly on his boat in Ganges Harbour, Saltspring Island on Monday, January 15th, 2007. Rene will be deeply missed by his son Kyle Loopeker (Will) of Burnaby and his new daughter-in-law Tracy. He is predeceased by his loving parents Wilhelm and Ursula Loopeker and his former wife Reen Loopeker (nee Wakabayashi). He will be lovingly remembered by his sister; Willi (and husband Bob Watters) of Ottawa; his brother; Rob Loopeker (and wife Pat) of Langley; his nieces and nephews: Robbie, Anna, Kevin and Don; his former wife and mother to his son; Anne (and Mike Will of Burnaby); and his Saltspring family of friends who loved him and cared for him for 15 of his 56 years. Rene was blessed with an artistic and creative gift that he applied throughout his life in his work in display, design, and carpentry. We will remember him always for his generosity, his uncommon intelligence, and his gentle heart. MANSON, Alison Mary (Nee Watt) It is with both joy and sadness that the family of Alison Mary Manson (Nee Watt) announce her death on Friday morning, February 23rd, 2007 at the age of 94 years. She has gone home to her Lord and Saviour and is reunited with her beloved husband, Archie. Alison was born January 21st, 1913, the daughter of the late George Watt and the late Mary Taylor. She leaves her three children to mourn her passing: Ralph (Dorothy) of Sterling, Robert of Carleton Place and Margaret Beaman (Wayne) of Brampton. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and her niece, Carol Spencer (Edward). Predeceased by her sisters: Dorothy Scott (late Ken) and Jessie Hunt (late Stan). Alison was also adopted grandmother to Jenny-Lee and her children, Joesph and Cheyenne of Kirkfield, Ontario. MILKS, Arthur Earl Peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 after his relentless battle with cancer. During his lifetime, Arthur did not travel the world, or find fame and fortune. However, he was a man of great wealth, for he found pleasure in the simplicities of life and experience what some of us never find, true love and respect. Arthur's boyish smiles, unique personality and zest for life will be missed by all who have come to know him. Arthur, beloved husband of Imelda (Rodier), loving father of Dale, Jason and Trevor. On his return to Canada, he entered the University of Alberta, graduating with his Bachelor of Commerce degree. He moved to Ottawa to join the federal civil service and served in the Combines Investigation Branch until his retirement in 1983. SHERIDAN, John Francis It is with great sorrow that the Family of Jack Sheridan announces his death on February 21st 2007 in his 101st year. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Minota Kirkpatrick. Left behind are family in Vancouver, sister Peggy Irving, her children, Peter and Helene, Maureen and Brian, John and Liz, and their families. His Ottawa Family includes Anne and Susan Kirkpatrick who loved "Unc" as a father, Peter and Laura Labrash, Matthew, Kim and Emma Kirkpatrick, Barb Avery, Doug and Kit Clancey and Dave O'Malley. His passing is mourned by his family, while we rejoice in the life he shared. Born August 15, 1906 in Drogheda, Ireland, Jack grew up in Dauphin, Manitoba, joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1925. Jack retired from the Force in 1954 and then worked for Customs and Excise. SMEATON, Dr. Douglas PhD - Resident of Kanata Suddenly on February 18, 2007 in a diving accident, aged 57. Born in Taber and raised in Red Deer Alberta, Doug was a dedicated family man and a loving husband. He was a well respected leader in the high-tech community and was the President and CEO of Semi Conductor Insights Inc. Doug was a highly skilled and passionate diver. He was a truly decent and honest man who loved nature and spending time with his family and friends. Henri J.D. Bourque At the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, on Thursday, February 22nd, 2007, passed away Henri Bourque, 74, of Glenwood Drive, Moncton. Born September 14th, 1932, he was the son of the late Frederick and Sarah (Robichaud) Bourque. He was a retired employee for Martone Sheet Metal. He is survived by his three sisters, Dorilla (late Néri Cormier) of Cocagne, Thérèse (late James Curry) of Edmonton, Marie (Ray Melanson) of Sarnia, ON; a brother, Joseph (Aurelda) of Irishtown, many nieces, and nephews. SCHOFIELD, CONSTANCE DOROTHEA INCHES 'DODIE' - The death of Dodie Schofield occurred on February 22, 2007 at the St. John & St. Stephen Church Home. Born in Saint John, October 18, 1914, she was the only daughter of the late Harold Cowan Schofield and Mary Kingsbury (Inches) Schofield. Dodie's early education took place at Miss Rainie's School, followed by Victoria Street School and Saint John High School, from where she graduated. She worked at the Federal Income Tax Department in Saint John for over 30 years. She was a member of the Garrison Officers Badminton Club, Trinity Church Young Women's Guild, Westfield Golf & Country Club, the I.O.D.E. Lady Moyra Ponsonby Chapter, the New Brunswick Historical Society and the local association for the Girl Guides. Dodie was a life long member of Trinity Church where she served many years on the Vestry. She will be missed by her cousins the Blanchets and the Teeds and by Don and Martha Shephard. Following cremation at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2007, at 1:00 pm from Trinity Church. HARRITY - Anna May died peacefully on Feb. 22, 2007 at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on Feb. 17, 1958, Anna attended local schools and was a proud graduate of the 1978 class of Saint John Vocational School. She was a long-time member of Assumption Church and sang in the folk choir for many years. Anna will be remembered by those who knew her for her endless optimism. She loved her family and showed kindness and compassion to everyone around her. Anna never forgot those she cared about; no birthday or anniversary passed without a phone call from her. She was the daughter of the late James Harrity and is survived by her mother, Julie (Kenny) Harrity; four sisters, Pauline (Clarence) Gillis of Lower Sackville, N.S.; Jane Harrity (Peter Humphrey); Adele (Wade) Shannon; Lisa Harrity (Kevin Dunn) of Fredericton; eight brothers, Stephen (Pam); Robert (Judy); John (Alyson); Peter; Richard (Chris); Carl (Patti); Thomas (Valerie); and Douglas (Cathy). She will also be missed by nine nieces, nine nephews, three great-nephews, several aunts and uncles, and her many friends at Loch Lomond Villa. LANGEN, MRS. MARY June 6th, 1916 - February 22nd, 2007 Surrounded by her family, Mary passed away peacefully at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 at the age of 90. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Anthony Royce Langen of Moncton. Born in Tabusintac, NB, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Lillian (McGinnis) Robertson. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary & Royce spent many summers on the "Miramichi" where she captured the beauty of the area on canvas. Many of these paintings were given to family & friends. Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her daughter; Barbara Langen (Ross McKean) of Fredericton, her son; Michael (Rita Gould) of Moncton, two grandsons; Jeffrey Langen and Stephen Langen both of Moncton and several nieces. Willard was born in Ludlow, New Brunswick on Canada Day 1943 and moved to Hamilton in 1962, a graduate of Chipman Regional High School and retired employee of the City of Burlington, Ontario. Lovingly remembered by her companion of 30 years, Malcolm Cross, Dear sister of Jean Joseph Roy, Jean Marie Roy and Yolande Daggett and predeceased by Gerard, Irene and Loretta. Angela worked as a desk clerk at the Colonial Inn for 17 years where she retired in 1982. She then went to work at The Print Gallery and then at Aitkens Pewter where continued to work till she retired for good. She then began to travel from the west coast of Canada to the deep south of Florida. FURNESS, THOMAS WILLIAM - The death of Thomas William Furness, loving husband of Marise (Ouellette) Furness of Hampton occurred on Friday February 23, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Thomas Gerald and Pearl Olive (Northrop) Furness. Tom graduated from UNB SJ in 1994 and worked at Centracare for 23 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his loving wife Marise he is survived by his son Thomas William Furness of Hampton; daughter Melissa Jennifer Furness of Taipei, Taiwan; brother Charles Furness of Kingston Peninsula; sisters Lillian Logan (Joe) of Saint John, Jackie Lewis (Bill) of Saint John and Katherine Hood of London, Ontario; several nieces and nephews and many friends. MacFARLAND, SHIRLEY V. - The death of Shirley V. MacFarland of Clifton Royal, widow of David L. MacFarland, occurred Friday, February 23rd, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John, daughter of the late Alvin Currie and Annie Lee. Shirley was Post Master at Clifton Royal, retiring in 1994. She was the organist at All Saints Church, Clifton Royal and Trinity Church, Kingston, for thirty years. Shirley was a member of Mission and Outreach, Vestry and A.C.W. with the Parish of Kingston. She sang with the Parish of Kingston Singers and the Sea Belles. Shirley was a Director of Trinity Terrace and Director of Peninsula Ambulance. She was a Past President of Peninsula Pearls and a member of the Kingston Friendship Group. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Elaine Fleming (James), Jacqueline Todd (Pastor Mark Todd), Patricia Sparks (Gary), all of Clifton Royal; one son, David A. MacFarland (Cindy), Clifton Royal; two sisters, Audrey Sheardown (Terrance), Winnipeg, Constance Buckley, Bayswater; one brother, Alvin Currie, Bayswater; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. KELEHER, D. FRANCIS (FRANK) - Passed away peacefully, in Ottawa, on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in his 92nd year. He lived a long, good life. Husband of the late Mary Louise Berini. Loved father of Beatrice Keleher-Raffoul and Catherine Kelly (Gerard) and cherished grandfather of Natalie (Mark) and Marc Raffoul and Allison and Colin Kelly. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, served in the R.C.A.F during the war and the reserves with 401 Squadron Westmount. Retired from Federal Department of National Revenue in Montreal. CROWLEY, JOSEPH CHARLES - The death of Joseph C. Crowley of Lincoln, NB occurred at his home on Friday, February 23rd, 2007, his birthday, after a two year fight with bone cancer. Joseph was born in Saint John, NB in 1942. He was the first child of Charles and Josephine Crowley. Joseph was most proud of his family and his 29 years of service to the Canadian Armed Forces. In his final years he came to love the game of golf and was an active member of the Gagetown Golf and Curling Club. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughters, Kimberly (Winston) and Tina (Alan); son, Joe (Rose); mother, Josephine; brothers, Mike, Ian, Paul and Stewart; granddaughters, Jennifer and Rose; grandsons, Roland (Tracy), Corey, Alan, Ryan and Adam as well as his great grandson, Roland III. Born in Durham, England in 1913, she came to Canada in 1927. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Pearson and the sister of William, Christopher, Elizabeth, Robert, Lillian, James and Dorothy. Peggy was predeceased by her husband George and just two days prior to her the passing of her daughter Jean Elizabeth Sacre. She was an avid golfer and curler in Edmunston for many years and proud of her service with the Legion as a member and Past President. Grammie will be sadly missed and always in the hearts for many years of son-in-law Bob Sacre, and grandchildren Bill (Barb), Brenda Barazza (Dennis), Steven (Cathy), David (Hettie). Born in Boundary Creek, NB November 29th, 1922 she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Steeves) Cain. Audrey attended Steeves Mountain United Baptist Church. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt she is survived by her husband, Allison; her daughter, Janice Brown; her son, Brian Steeves (Leslie) all of Steeves Mountain; her sister, Eileen Young (Don) of Toronto; a sister in law, Willa Steeves of Saint John; her grandchildren, Angela Brown, Sarah Anne Steeves and Joshua Steeves; as well as many nieces and nephews.
