KONKLE, Ronald John (1920-2006) - It is with great sadness we announce the passing on Sunday March 26th, 2006, of a beloved husband and father Ron, in his 86th year. He is survived by his wife “Billie“ (Alice) of 60 years and their children, Michael and Mary, Greg, Mark and Pam, Elizabeth, Gary and Beccy and Cindy. He also leaves his grandchildren, Phillip and Nicole, Lori, and Kevin, Brian, Alyson and George, Ernest, Rebecca, Chelsea, Alexander and Christine and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Griffin, and Braeden. Ron retired from TRW in 1979 and he served overseas during World War II with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment from 1939-1945. He was a lifetime member of the Lincoln and Welland Regimental Association and the War Amps of Canada. The family would like to extend sincerest gratitude to the nurses of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, the staff of the Canadian Red Cross and Community Care. A special thank you to Nancy, Heather and Brenda for their professional care and compassion that allowed Dad to live in the comfort of his home and to pass peacefully in the company of his family. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Vineland Chapel of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOMES, 3277 King St. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. A Memorial Service and burial of ashes will take place Thursday March 30th at 1 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church in Jordan. BOURGEOIS, Père Jacques C.S.V. 1941 - 2006 Le père Jacques Bourgeois, clerc de Saint-Viateur, est décédé au Centre Champagneur de Joliette, le 25 mars 2006, à l'âge de 64 ans, dans sa 44e année de profession religieuse et sa 40e année de sacerdoce. Né à Notre-Dame-du-Chemin, Qc, le 26 avril 1941, le père Bourgeois a émis ses premiers voeux chez les Clercs de Saint-Viateur, le 15 août 1962 et a été ordonné prêtre, le 2 avril 1966. Après quelques années de pastorale à l'École Saint-Maxime (Laval) et de ministère à la paroisse Saint-Viateur d'Outremont, le père Bourgeois, à partir de 1979, a consacré le meilleur de ses énergies au mouvement PRH (Personnalité et Relations humaines) d'abord comme animateur, puis comme formateur. En plus d'animer de nombreuses sessions, il a offert l'accompagnement spirituel à des personnes et à des couples. Une maladie soudaine est venue brusquement arrêter ses élans, mais tant que ses forces le lui ont permis, il a continué à accueillir des personnes et à la guider. Outre sa famille religieuse, le père Bourgeois laisse dans le deuil ses deux soeurs Monique et Lucie, son neveux Philippe (Sophie) et un petit-neveu Mathieu. Le père Jacques Bourgeois sera exposé à la: Résidence provinciale des CSV 450 avenue Querbes, Outremont 514-274-3624 le mardi 28 mars 2006 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 21 h; une célébration de la Parole aura lieu à 19 h 30. BLAIS LAFRANCE, Claudette 1936-2006 Au Centre hospitalier Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, le 24 mars 2006, à l'âge de 70 ans, est décédée Mme Claudette Lafrance, épouse de M. Gilbert Blais, de Mont-Laurier. Elle était la fille de feu Louisia Perron et de feu Charles Lafrance. Elle rejoint son fils Harris et sa soeur Ghyslaine qui l'accueilleront en l'autre monde. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Dorren et Larry, ses petits-enfants Wesley, Fanny, Tommy, Angy, Jessy et Lindsay. Margot Ruth Payne HAMPTON, NB - The death of Margot Ruth Payne of Hampton, NB, wife of Gordon "Buzz" S. Payne occurred March 23, 2006 at Venice Regional Medical Centre, Florida. She was born in Saint John, NB, daughter of Jenet (MacIlroy) Ottem of Fredericton and the late John Ottem. Margot was a Special Education teacher residing in Bathurst, NB; Port Alberni, BC; and Fort Frances, Ontario before moving to Rothesay, NB in 1981 to continue in her teaching field. Since 1995, she shared her time between Hampton and Warm Mineral Springs, Florida. Margot was a member of the New Brunswick Teachers' Association; past president of I.O.D.E.; past Rotary Ann; and a Sunday School teacher at various locations. She is survived by her husband, Buzz; mother, Jenet; two daughters, Gwynneth Boye (Manfred), Hampton, Krista Blaikie (Simon), Winnipeg, Manitoba; one sister, Doreen Lewis, Fredericton; grandchildren, Sarah and Kyrsti Boye, Connor and Brynne Blaikie; one uncle, Wallace MacIlroy, Chipman; three nieces and four nephews. CHIRICO, Joe - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Joe Chirico on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the age of 61. Beloved husband of 24 years to Halina (Grabos) Chirico. Proud and devoted father of Sara, Daniele and Marisa Chirico. Edith Mae Powell LOCKEPORT, NS - Edith Mae Powell, 92, (wife of late Fred Powell of Dover, NB) and (former wife of Emmett Stephens of Lockeport, NS) passed away Friday, March 24, 2006 at Surf Lodge Nursing Home in Lockeport, NS. She was the daughter of William James Allen and Florence Hardy of Pleasant Pt., NS. She is survived by two sisters, Joan Foote of Canada Hill, NS and Lillian MacKenzie of Lockeport, NS; and sister-in-law, Shirley Allen (wife of the late Charles Perry Allen of Allendale, NS). She has seven children by Emmett Stephens; survived by Robert of Miramichi, NB, Kenneth of Miramichi, NB, Gordon of Canada Hill; two girls, Lottie Faye of Shelburne, NS and Marilyn Belong of Sandy Cove, Digby, NS. GRAHAM, Shirley (Dr. S.M. Fyles). On March 14, peacefully, at the Montreal General Hospital, at the age of eighty-one after suffering from congestive heart failure. Born May 18, 1924, daughter of Eileen Jenny Yeats and E.N. Halton Fyles, sister of Ann and Richard Fyles. Graduated M.D. from Queen's University in 1954 and practiced neurology, as well as raising a family. Later, Dr. Fyles specialized in the treatment of HIV and AIDS. At the Montreal Neurological Hospital and elsewhere she is remembered for her devotion to her patients and her selflessness. Shirley brought the same qualities to her community and volunteer work. After her children were grown, she continued to care for others, including students from abroad and foster children. She maintained an active medical practice until very recently and helped design and maintain services for HIV patients. Shirley was born into a challenging and changing world; she faced that world with energy and lived her life with integrity. Those close to her appreciated Shirley's ability to maintain her wry, self-deprecating sense of humour in even in the most trying situations. She is survived by five children, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. RODYCH Delores Ann (nee White) 1928 - 2006 Iris Rodych of Calgary passed away on the fourth Sunday of Lent, March 26, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Iris was born on October 8, 1928 in Swift Current, SK. She received her education in Swift Current, continuing it in Moose Jaw. She was a longtime resident of Frontier, SK and Prince Albert, SK. She has resided in Calgary for the past twelve years. Iris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be remembered as a woman of great kindness, gentle persuasion, and quiet dignity. She was a woman of deep faith, prayer and devotion who was active in her church. As a teacher she was compassionate and understanding and her students adored her. ROSS Philip Alexander P.Eng., P.Geol., MBA July 11, 1929 - March 23, 2006 In loving memory of a husband, father, grandfather and friend. Phil is survived by his caring wife of forty-four years, Catherine; daughter Heather (Tapio) of Finland and their children, Erika and Alexandra; son Scott (Rhonda) of Edmonton and their daughter Cate; and his canine companion Koira. Born in Calgary to one of the city's pioneering families (Strong), Phil, awarded a track-and-field scholarship, left to pursue his education in geological engineering at the University of Arizona and later to Switzerland for his MBA at the University of Geneva. We are proud of his international career as a professional geologist, engineer and senior executive officer in both federal and provincial government and industry, including his representation of Canada at the OECD, Paris. Phil was a remarkable man known for his strength of resolve and joy of wit. His love for Alberta, the great outdoors and "taking the scenic route" was gratefully passed on to his family. His keen knowledge of history added depth to many a story! He will be greatly missed by his family, life-long friends, relatives and business associates. Special thanks to the many health care professionals involved in his care. A private Family Service was held and Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will follow at a later date. HIGGINS, EVERETT E. - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Everett Edmund Higgins formerly of 310 Woodward Avenue, Saint John, husband of Jean (Ross) Higgins, occurred peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the Church of St. John & Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on January 18, 1914, he was the son of the late William John and Margaret Marie (Walsh) Higgins. Mr. Higgins graduated from Saint John High School in 1932 and completed his studies at Modern Business College. During the Second World War, Everett served in the reserves in Halifax, NS. He was a third degree Mason at the Albion Lodge No. 1, 1957. Everett enjoyed a career spanning 48 years at New Brunswick Publishing, retiring in 1979. It was then that he devoted his time and love to his passions, which included his family, his gardens, traveling and sports. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, two grandchildren, Heather Lynn (Robert DeMerchant) of Kingston, NB and Warren Derek Seeley (Shelly) of Black River, NB, five precious great grandchildren, Kyla Jean, Ryan Michael, Derek Matthew, Lucas Allison and Olivia Grace, one sister, Margaret Beckett of Halifax, NS and several nieces and nephews. Dot was predeceased by her mother Bertha (nee Brotherwood), father Henry George, brother Herb, sister Elsie (Ross) Gowler, great nephew Kevin. HAWES Dorothy Agnes Dorothy Agnes Hawes (nee Campbell) passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006. Born in Calgary, June 13, 1920, Dorothy lived on the Sunny Slope Burns Ranch as a young child, and attended school at the Central Technical Institute in Calgary. Dorothy was married to Francis Campbell Hawes on March 1, 1947. She is survived by her brother Lennard P. Campbell; and her children, Maryanne Nicholls, Patricia Figiel, Doug Hawes and Bruce Hawes. Dorothy is predeceased by her mother Mary Schneider, father Robert Campbell, brother Glen and sister Alma. Dorothy was a long time member of Calgary's Seniors Curling, Golf and Aquasize Club and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch No. 285. She was a volunteer for transporting cancer patients and supported the MS Society. She retired from the AMA in 1985. HACHEY, LORRAINE MARIE (LORRIE) (nee Robson) - January 27, 1953-March 27, 2006. Lorrie passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, March 27, 2006 in the presence of her family. She fought a short battle with cancer with the dignity and acceptance that were such an integral part of her personality. She was the daughter of the late Gregory and Veronica (O'Hara) Robson. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband Larry; her two children, Greg (Tanya) and Nicole (David); and her much loved and idolized granddaughter Paige. She is also survived by three brothers, Arthur of Riverview, Brian and Stephen (Linda) of Saint John; one sister Debby Robinson (Fred) of Digby, N.S.; and several nieces and nephews. Lorrie was born in Saint John where she began a 33 year distinguished career in the insurance industry where she held a series of increasingly responsible senior positions, most recently with AVIVA Canada. She was highly respected and well liked by her colleagues and co-workers throughout the Industry. She was known to have a significant impact on all of her family, friends and Business Associates. She was a crossword puzzle aficionado with a dry sense of humor who spent as much time as possible with her adored granddaughter. Lorrie will always be remembered by how she made other people feel, i.e. welcome, important and respected. She will be resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Allain E. Dupuis WALTHAM, MA - Mr. Allain E. Dupuis of Grove Street, Waltham, MA passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 91. Born in College Bridge, NB, Canada, a son of the late Olivier and Exelda (Leger) Dupuis, he was a carpenter for over twenty five years for the Carpenters Local # 275. He was also very helpful in building the former Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham, MA and involved in many other activities at the church. He served in the Canadian Army - Regiment de Jolilette in Europe during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He is survived by his wife of sixty five years Louise M. (Legere) Dupuis; one son, Paul A.
