JOCKO, Albert J. “Crackers - Albert J. Jocko of Cornwall Island on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site. He is survived by his loving companion, Hazel Jacobs, Cornwall Island; four children, Joanne Jocko and her mother Joyce Jocko of Cornwall Island, Albert Jocko Jr., Syracuse, Ryan Thomas Jacobs Chantelle Cooke, Hogansburg, Kayla Jacobs Danny Delormier, Cornwall Island; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Lee, Myeesha, Marissa Ann, Mya and Kyden; two sisters, Dorothy Jocko, Syracuse, Wilma Angus Paul, Snye, QB; three brothers, Peter Helen, Cornwall, Phillip and Dennis Jean both of Cornwall Island. He was predeceased by one sister, Viola Jocko and two brothers, Norman and Angus Jocko. He was born March 6, 1940 on Cornwall Island, the son of the late Louie and Mary Thompson Jocko. He was a painter for the International Bridge Authority, where he retired. He started working at age 15 on the railways and later on various demolition projects and at the Meat Market. He enjoyed doing landscape work, bulldozing, buying and selling cars, and playing lottery tickets. He was a communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church. Funeral Service took place Monday, February 20th, 2006 at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George H. Belgarde officiating. SKUCE, Delmar Delmar Skuce passed away peacefully at the Picton Hospital in Picton, Ontario on Sunday, February 26, 2006. Delmar was a map librarian for the Civic Service for 35 years. He was predeceased by his wife Doris. He is survived by his son Bryan, daughter-in-law Carol, granddaughter Tanya and great-grandson Nolan Skuce. DALE, Milton C. James Died peacefully on March 5, 2006. He leaves behind Catherine Dale, his children Ann (William Voller), James (Shelley Smith-Dale), Elaine, and Adrienne (Michael Thomson). Special grandfather of Daniel James Frazer (predeceased), Jaime Shanara and Jordan Dale; and Scott and Leah Thomson. Cherished brother of Elaine, Helen and Ashton. Dear friend of Danny Duhamel, and the boys of Brook Lake Hunting Camp. In 1945, Flight Officer Dale was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for completing 38 sorties, including some of the deepest penetrations made into enemy territory. Several sorties involved a flight of nine to ten hours during which his qualities of endurance and tenacity were manifest to his crew, to whom his conduct was a continuous source of inspiration. He displayed a complete disregard for his own personal safety and a high degree of skill. His superb airmanship continued into civilian life with the Ministry of Transportation, first as Civil Aviation Inspector, applying his skills towards efforts to introduce aviation safety standards into Northern Canada, and later as Chief Flight Training Officer, training a new generation of pilots. He finished off his career as a VIP pilot with MOT. OBITUARY A.L. MURRAY WILLIAMS Murray, age seventy-six, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, March 4, 2006, at the Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton, under the excellent care of the Palliative Care nursing staff. He was predeceased almost six years ago by the love of his life, Patricia (Pennington), and he now leaves their four children Dana (Cathy) Williams, Elizabeth (Randy) Schnier, Hugh (Ruth) Williams, and Jennifer (Fabrizio) Patelli. Grandad also leaves eleven grandchildren, Caitlin, Drew, Libby; Bryn, Sarah, Evan, Allison; Jessica, Erika; Noah and Julia. Murray is also survived by one brother, Tom (Sue). Murray was a generous and devoted husband, a lover of literature, good music and fine wine, and was someone who loved to laugh with friends. Always a Montrealer at heart, with a B.A. from McGill University, he travelled with his family from Toronto to Montreal, London and back to Toronto. He lived for three years at the Beechwood in Mississauga before recently moving to Brampton Woods for nursing care. Goodbye Dad, God-speed. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #9178, Cap-Pelé and a member of the Shemogue Golden Age Club. FORSTER Stefania (Stevie) (nee Simanik) Passed on peacefully, March 2, 2006 at the Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton, BC at the age of 78. Born June 30, 1927 in Arran, Sask. Stevie is predeceased by her father Carl Simanik; mother Catherine Soltys and stepfather Dmetro Soltys; brother Terry and brother-in-law George Sinal. GARVIN Lyle Adrian September 18, 1937 - March 4, 2006 Lyle Garvin passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the age of 68. Lyle will be forever missed by his loving wife of forty-five years, Margaret; son Darcy and daughter-in-law Janice; daughter Aileen; and grandsons, Robbie and Blair Garvin. Lyle will always be remembered for his sense of humour by his brothers, sisters and their families, Terry and Sophie Garvin, Neil and Thora Garvin, Wes and Doreen Garvin, Pat and Cec Wylie, Eva and Trent Ketcheson, Mona Shelley, Phil and Sharon Garvin, Dale Garvin, Brian and Marilyn Garvin. GILMOUR Rosina (Rena) July 29, 1912 - March 5, 2006 Mrs. Rena Gilmour of Calgary, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, passed away at the age of 93 years after several years of declining health. Rena is survived by her sons, James (Margaret) of Edmonton and Malcolm of Hamilton, Ontario; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Jessie and brother-in-law Alex McNicoll of Cumbernauld, Scotland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rena had a special relationship with her niece Christine Herman. She was predeceased by her husband Tommy; son Tommy Jr.; daughter Mollie Rodgers; brothers, Malcolm, James and Tom MacKenzie; sister Dr. Christine Meikle-Harris; as well as her special friend Mr. Emil Westlund of Calgary. Rena will be lovingly remembered for her love of life, independent spirit and tirelessly giving of herself to family and friends and a lifelong interest in knitting and gardening. SOKOLAN Frieda 1913 - 2006 Frieda Sokolan, beloved wife of the late John Sokolan passed away peacefully at the Sarcee Nursing Home on Monday, March 6, 2006 at the age of 93 years. Frieda was born in Alsask, Saskatchewan to Daniel and Ethel Schmidt. She married John Sokolan in 1943 and together they settled in Calgary and raised their family. Frieda is survived by her loving family, Sandi (Murray) Hunter of Portland, Oregon, Ken (Caren) of Carstairs, and Brian (Patty) of Medicine Hat; as well as six grandchildren, Gord (Cathy) Hunter, Brad Hunter, Trevor Sokolan, Stacey Sokolan, Christy (Jamie) Garland and Tyrell Sokolan; and five great-grandchildren, Bryan Hunter, Grace Hunter, Taya Hunter, Ashley Garland and Devyn Garland. She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Symon of Carstairs and Mary Ann (Brian) Smith and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn Finlay, Margaret Norby, Doris Maartman, Mildred Galbraith and brother Gordon Schmidt. MODESTO, Galdino- In loving memory of Galdino Modesto, 79 years, who went to join his beloved wife Jennie in Heaven on Sunday, March 5, 2006. Galdino was born and raised in Coniston. He worked at INCO as a maintenance planner, retiring in 1982 with 40 years of service. A devout member of St-Paul the Apostle Church, Galdino led a very active lifestyle in his healthier years being a past trustee with the Coniston Separate School Board, member of Club Allegri, a volunteer with the Police Auxiliary and Neighbourhood Watch and founding member of the Coniston Credit Union. Some of his favourite pastimes were camping and travelling. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially by his grandchildren who cherished his guidance and love. Galdino was predeceased by his loving wife Jennie (nee Mislinki) on February 28, 2005. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church; and he was a member and past treasurer of the Ukrainian Sr. Citizen's Club. He had a great appreciation of the outdoors where he enjoyed camping and fishing; other interests included gardening and music. An accomplished Mr. Fix-It he eagerly and skillfully undertook repair, renovation and construction projects. The focus of his life was his loving family.
