INKERI ‘INGRID’ (ELLMEN) GALBRAITH Inkeri “Ingrid” (Ellmen) Galbraith, 84, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. Ingrid was born Jan. 24, 1921 in Finland, Ont. to the late Victor and Hanna Blom. She had lived most of her life in Rainy River District and had worked as a cook for the Canadian National Railway. She also was very involved with the Finland Women’s Institute, and enjoyed sewing, embroidery and crocheting. In her later years, she enjoyed hooking rugs. Ingrid was united in marriage to Taisto Ellmen, who predeceased her on Dec. 12, 1976. She also was predeceased by her second husband, Gordon Galbraith, on March 7, 2000; her sister, Milja Kangas; and her son-in-law, Tom Pocock on Sept. 14, 2002. She is survived by her two daughters, Viola (Ken) Pederson of Elliott Lake, Ont. and Verna Pocock of Fort Frances, Ont.; and five grandchildren, Glen (Barb) Pederson of London, Ont., Tara (Bob) VanVoort of Calgary, Alta. and their son, David, Kevin (Lisa) Pocock and their children, Tyler, Kristin, and T.J., Ken (Beryl) Pocock and their children, Zachery and Conner, and Sandra Dixon (Darren McCormick) and their children, Taylor and Lindsay, all of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are two sisters Rachel Gallinger of Emo, Ont. and Verna Johnson-Gawryluk (Alex) of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating. RUDOLPH B. CORAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolph B. Coran, 85, who passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances with wife, Barbara, and family by his side. Rudolph was born March 8, 1920 in International Falls, MN. to the late Regino and Maria Coran. He moved with his family to Fort Frances at the age of three months. He was united marriage to the former Barbara Carpenter on April 28, 1984. Rudolph was very talented. His wood carvings were exceptional in detail and beauty. As well, Rudolph and Barbara’s home was always open to family and friends. Everyone was made to feel welcome to visit and share a cup of coffee. Rudolph is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sisters, Olympia Benassi (Joe) of International Falls, Mn. and Antonia Edgett of Fort Frances, Ont.; one brother, Raymond (Lyla) Coran of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Coran of Fort Frances, Joy (James) Briggs of International Falls, Mn., and Brenda (Tom) Haney of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother-in-law, Bernard (Elaine) Carpenter of Vancouver, B.C.; an aunt, Josephine Coran of Blaine, Mn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was predeceased by parents, Regino and Maria Coran; two brothers, Guido Coran and his wife, Helen, and Dovilio Coran; sister, Laura Cerutti and husband, Frinds; and aunt, Eliza Gasparini. A visitation was held Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers offered at 7:30 p.m. Deacon Bob Grynol officiated. A funeral mass was held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Msgr. George Bourguignon officiated. The music was provided by organist Marnie Dutton and soloist Cara Coran. The pallbearers were Brian Briggs, Richard Peron, Todd Wood, Larry O’Brien, Perry Trask, and Mark Coran. The honourary pallbearers were Jim Kuryla, Michael Kuryla, Severino Piccinatio, Camillo Belluz, Enrico Perin, Oral Howland, Phil Olson, and Jack Havluck. The ushers were Michael Coran and Robert Trompeter. Interment was held Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances. MARY ELVERA GARON Mary Elvera Garon, 74, of 422A Nelson St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 in Fort Frances. Mary was born in Fort Frances on Sept. 27, 1931 to the late Edward and Maude Allan. She was raised and had lived all of her life in Fort Frances. Mary was united in marriage to Hector Garon. She was a member of the Covenant Mission Church in Fort Frances, and also was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29. For enjoyment, Mary loved playing Bingo and sharing coffee with family and friends. Most of all, she loved to have her family and friends around her. Mary is survived by three daughters, Karen Garon (Mike Adams), Jackie Garon, and Billy Bird, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Patricia Allan (Milan Petrak) of Winnipeg, Man.; grandchildren, Bruce and girlfriend, Jody, Jason and girlfriend, Quinn, Shawn, Danielle, Shawn, Johnna, Brett, Sierra, Ashton, and Dennis; and eight great-grandchildren, Brody, Dillon, Chelsea, Sydney, Liam, Mya, Ashley, and Chris. She also is survived by three sisters, Vivian and husband, Arnould Johnson, of Mazoula, Mont., Joan and husband, Melvin Huether, of North Dakota, and Irene Kruz of British Columbia; one brother, Ronald Johnson in Ontario; special friends, Vicky Anderson and Joyce LaFreniere; and numerous nieces and nephews. MILDRED JANET MOSE It is with great sorrow that the family of Mildred Mose announces her passing on Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at the age of 94. Mildred was born Nov. 12, 1911 in Mather, Man. to James and Janet Fulford. The family moved to the Emo, Ont. area when Mildred was 12 and she has resided here ever since. She began teaching in 1930 and taught on and off until retiring in 1975. On Aug. 7, 1933, she was united in marriage to John Llewellyn (Lew) Mose. Mildred was a person who enjoyed a rich full life, appreciating simplicity. Since choosing to serve God at the age of 21, she has been a constant, faithful example to her family and all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Janet Fulford; husband, Lew Mose on Sep. 28, 1993; son, Ed Mose on Dec. 1, 1995; brothers, Allan, and wife, Pat, and Calvin Fulford; and sister, Dorothy, and husband, Len Allen. Mildred leaves behind her son, Alton Mose of Winnipeg, Man.; daughter, Ruth and husband, Fred Clausen, of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Joyce (Murray) Johnson of Brampton, Ont.; grandchildren, Clark Mose, Carla Gepp, and Marlin (Laurel) Mose; great-grandchildren, Lauren Gepp, and Shannyn, Ryan, and Jaycee Mose; brother, Don (Hazel) Fulford; sisters-in-law, Betty (Jerry) Ronning of Hayward, Wis., Amanda Mose of Fort Frances, Ont., Anna Mose of Emo, Ont., Mary Mose of Stratton, Ont., and Muriel Mose of Guelph, Ont.; as well as many nieces and nephews. PEGGY McMILLAN Peggy (Margaret Edith) McMillan, 56, of Harbour Point Condominiums in Virginia Beach, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006 in her home. A native of Emo, Ont., she was predeceased by her father, Edwin McLean French. Peggy is survived by her husband, Eric MacKenzie McMillan; son, Kent Gregory McMillan and granddaughter, Natalie Caitlin-Anne Cheslock, both of New Westminster, B.C.; daughter, Jodie Leigh McMillan of Atlanta, Ga. and her fiancé, Kenny Skaggs; and her mother, Colinette Edith French of Winnipeg, Man. Also surviving are two sisters, Candice Bunio (Gordon) of Winnipeg, Man. and Patricia Kellner (Garry) of Campbellville, Ont.; and two brothers, Colin French (Janis) of Fort Frances, Ont. and Daniel French (Mary-Kay) of Thunder Bay, Ont. ISHII, Kanaye Bessie (nee Miyake). Passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Trillium Health Centre, Toronto, at the age of eighty-one. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Masao, she will be sadly missed and always remembered by her devoted sons, Mark (Debbie), Steven (Cathy), and Brian, and her cherished grandchildren, Jenna, Matthew, and Jason. Loving sister to Bunrey (Huguette) Miyake, Miori (late Yoshio) Mayeda, Harumi (Tomotsu) Yamamoto, and Chiharu Miyake; sister-in-law to Masao's brothers and sisters; and aunt and great-aunt to many nephews and nieces, Bessie will be fondly remembered for her gentle, selfless nature and her beautiful smile. Her many friends in Montreal and Toronto will greatly miss her kindness and thoughtfulness. ANDERSON, M. Elinor July 14, 1926 ~ Jan. 14, 2006 It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Elinor at the age of seventy-nine after a long yet courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her illness she continued to be an inspiration to us all, showing incredible strength and fortitude, never losing her spirit, love of life or her sense of humor despite all that she faced. COTTON, Catherine Elizabeth (nee Ward) Suddenly on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the age of 85. Previously deceased by her loving husband John and devoted daughter Janet. Kay will be sadly missed by her beloved daughter Lynne (Ron), her grandchildren Beverley, Wanda, Peter, Amanda and Michael; and her great-grandchildren Geoff, Jamie, Myriah, Glenna, David, Tracey and Adam. She was the eldest of eight children of the Ward family of Chambly, Quebec including Tom (Joan), Janet (Paul), Margaret (John), Joe (Suzanne), Murray (Muriel), Peter (Gerry) and Florence (Lloyd). Kay's extended family was always close to her heart and she took great joy in the many family gatherings throughout her long life. She had interesting adventures as an exemplary RCAF wife, a Lac Simon cottager and as a snowbird in Sarasota with her many friends, especially Jean. ROBERTS, The Venerable Matthew King Born in Pushthrough, Newfoundland in 1912 and died in Ottawa on Tuesday, January 17, 2006. Predeceased by his wife Charlotte "Lottie" (nee Cluett), son Dr. David Roberts and sister Maud Simms. Survived by his daughter-in-law Georgia and grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) and Karen Roberts, Julie Whitfield, Chloe and Hugo Whitfield. Matthew was ordained deacon (1942) and priest (1943) in the Anglican Church and served parishes in Newfoundland until 1951. A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Canadian Army Chaplain from 1951 to 1957. After retiring from the military, he ministered in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa as pastoral assistant of Christ Church Cathedral (1967-1972) and as Archdeacon of West Quebec and rector of St. Paul's, Shawville (1972-1977). In his retirement he was a much loved honourary assistant of Christ Church Bells Corners and was a very active volunteer in the community being named Nepean Citizen of the Year in 1989. MacDONALD, Margaret Fales 89, passed away peacefully January 16, 2006, in The Glebe Centre, Ottawa, ON. She was born January 14, 1917 in Saint John, N.B. and was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Bertha (Fales) Gillmor. Margaret will be remembered as a witty and vivacious woman, who enjoyed and excelled at many outdoor and athletic activities during her lifetime. After spending her youth in Halifax, Margaret moved to Ottawa where she acted as personal secretary for many years to The Right Honourable John Diefenbaker, 13th Prime Minister of Canada. After retirement, Margaret traveled extensively spending much time in the Caribbean. She is survived by her daughter, Anne James, Michigan, and nephews, James E. Cragg (Carol), Florida, and Robert G. Cragg (Elaine), Halifax. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Audrey M. Cragg, and her beloved son, Jon G. MacDonald. Her body has been cremated under the care of J. Albert Walker & Sons Funeral Home, Dartmouth (469-5601). A memorial service and burial will be held in The Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON, in the spring at a date and time to be announced later. BEAUCHAMP, Jack Philipe Joseph 1956 - 2006 Jack Beauchamp, beloved husband of Debra Beauchamp of Calgary, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2006 at the age of 49 years. Jack was educated in Drumheller and graduated from the University of Alberta and had been in the mortgage lending business since 1979. He was a Director with the Calgary Downtown Association. He volunteered for the J.D.R.F., and loved to coach hockey, baseball, and basketball. He also enjoyed travelling and gardening. Jack was the President of Morbank Financial Inc. which he founded eight years ago. Besides his loving wife Debra, Jack is survived by his children, Matthew of Lloydminster, Michael and Jennifer, both of Calgary; his mother Mary of Drumheller; his father Philipe of Hawaii; his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Joan Wilson of Calgary; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jill and Bruce Wade of Drumheller, Marilyn and Brent Moss of Carstairs, and Geri Holmes of Abbotsford; a brother Bob Beauchamp of Calgary; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cathy and Murray Ursulak of Ponoka; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. YOUNG, Thomas 1914 - 2006 Thomas Young of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2006 shortly after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Tom was born on January 3, 1914 at his home in Corndorrat, Scotland. He immigrated to Canada at the start of the Great Depression. After a distinguished career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, interrupted by four years in the RCN on corvette duty during World War II, he retired in Calgary on January 1, 1969. He will be remembered by family and friends as an avid outdoorsman, a respected businessman and most of all, a man who valued family. Tom is survived by his son Thomas (Sandra); his granddaughter Penny (John); and the apple of his eye, Sam, his great-grandson. His loving wife Margaret passed away in 2001 and was sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . Born in San Daniele, Italy, he married Marina in Sudbury in 1949. He worked for 42 years as an electrician at INCO, retiring in 1979. John was a Life and Founding member of the Caruso Club, he was a member of Fogolar Furlani and the Short Wave Amateur Radio Club. He will be lovingly remembered as a generous and kind man. WALLI, Aarne Matias In loving memory of Aarne Matias Walli, 70 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Beloved son of Viljo and Bertha Walli predeceased. Loving brother of Aatto of British Columbia, Armas of Sudbury and Kreeta Aki (husband Sali) of Finland. Dear uncle of Mia of Finland. Sadly missed by relatives in Canada and Finland. Born in Kurikka, Finland, Aarne came to the Sudbury area in 1958. He worked at the Copper Cliff Smelter having over 20 years at INCO. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp on Onaping Lake. Aarne also enjoyed reading. He was an accomplished author having won a literacy award for his writing. He also had poetry and articles published in the Sudbury and Finnish newspapers. Aarne was well liked and respected in the community.
