PASHAK, William (Bill) Joseph William (Bill) Joseph Pashak, beloved husband of fifty years to Adrienne (Deanie) Pashak, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2006. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Deanie; his children, Michael (Cheryl), Michelle (Lance) Atwood and Margo Ledgerwood (Craig FitzPatrick); three grandchildren, Amy, Megan and Brian Pashak. He is also survived by his sister Catherine Heisler and his brothers, Tom (Lucy) Pashak and Terry (Alice) Pashak, and their families. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Sadie Pashak. Bill was born July 11, 1932 in Calgary, Alberta. He developed his love of sports at an early age, playing football at Western Canada High School and hockey with the Okotoks Oilers. After thirty-five years with Imperial Oil in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary, Bill retired to pursue his love of golf. Over the years he played many rounds with his dear friends and golfing partners at the Inglewood Golf and Country Club and has now joined the golf course in heaven. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and we will miss him. Eulogy and Funeral Mass be held at Corpus Christi Church on Thursday, January 12, at 2:15 p.m. (corner of 4 Street and Northmount Drive N.W.). Following the Mass, friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a celebration of Bill's life at the church hall. The family would like to send sincere thanks to Dr. Morrison, Dr. Van Olm, the kind and caring Nurses of Unit 74 and staff at the Rockyview General Hospital. As well a special thanks to home care therapist Teresa Sulkin and the team from Calgary Health Region. Margarete Farmery September 17, 1925 - January 09, 2006 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Margarete passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital with family by her side. She will be missed by her husband Frederick Farmery, sister Shirley Van Iderstine (Gordon), her daughters Leslie Sanders (Ralph), Sandra Hill (Bryan), grandchildren Diana, Paul (Christie), Annmarie (Mike), Victoria, Sonja (Scott), Whitney (Maurice), Jonathan (Renee), Stephen, McKenzie, Cassandra, nephews Peter (Anne), Kris, John, Paul (Nadine) and niece Jennifer (Dale). Margarete will also be missed by Fred’s children, Rene (Bill), Sandra (Paul), Kathy (Mark) and grandchildren, Gary, Chelsea, Alison, and Michelle. Margarete was predeceased by her parents Leota and Elsworth Armstrong, her brothers Russell and Ross, her first husband Russell, in-laws Rebecca and Jack West, granddaughter Alexandra, and her brother in-law Einar Gustavson. Margarete was born and lived her life in Winnipeg. She worked for many years at Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation as an administrative secretary and appraiser. Mom had special gifts. Her creativity shone through in her china painting, her storytelling and her sense of humor. She had a flare for making something out of nothing and finding good bargains. She was supportive in difficult situations, giving philosophical advice, with practical solutions. She was intuitive and sensitive to people’s needs. Mom was an adventurous person; she loved camping, traveling and meeting new people. In her later years she took pleasure in activities such as snorkeling and golfing. She was always ready for a good mystery book or movie. Mom’s greatest gift to us was our knowing we were loved. Our sincere gratitude goes out to her family physician Dr. Russell Albak and to the health care staff at HSC, Seven Oaks and the Grace Hospitals for their compassionate care. Mom was truly grateful. A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. If so desired, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

KYLE, JOHN A. "JACK"- The death of John Arthur "Jack" Kyle, of 40 Natalie Street, Saint John, husband of 50 years to Shirley E. (Logan) Kyle, occurred on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Arleigh and Pearl (McCracken) Kyle. Jack was a Fire Fighter with the City of Saint John for 35 years before retiring as District Chief. He coached North End Little League, his beloved Yankees, for 31 years, winning numerous Provincial and Maritime Championships. Jack also coached Minor Hockey and High School Hockey for many years and was voted Saint John Sportsperson of the Year in 1984. Since his retirement, Jack enjoyed spending time at his camp. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by three sons; Peter (Cheryl) of Saint John, Paul of Saint John and Terry (Kathy) of Perth Andover, daughter-in-law, Janet Kyle of Hampton, two brothers; James Kyle (Marilyn) of Saint John and Edward VanTassell (Pat) of Santa Barbara, CA, one sister, Lorna Zelward (Ronald) of Baxters Corner, nine grandchildren; Shannon, Lindsay, Mallory, Courtenay, Curtis, Cara, Connor, Logan and Abigail, one great grandson; Landen, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert Kyle and one sister, Audrey Gates. ROHL, Olivia (Ollie) Ollie Rohl, beloved wife of William Rohl of Calgary, formerly of Strathmore, Alberta, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2006 at the age of 83 years. Ollie will be lovingly remembered by her five sons, Robert, Brian (Judy), Allan (Brenda), Ross and Lindsay (Melanie); and her eleven grandchildren. JORGENSEN, Esther E. 1909 - 2006 Esther E. Jorgensen of Calgary passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2006, after a brief illness, at the age of 96 years. Esther was born in Denmark on August 3, 1909, and moved to Canada with her husband and family in 1951. TATTERSALL, Diane Elizabeth In loving memory of Diane Elizabeth Tattersall passed away suddenly, at her home, on Sunday December 25, 2005 in her 50th year. Diane was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She graduated with a B.A. from Laurentian University in Sudbury and earned her B. Ed. degree from Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario. She taught grade school for a number of years in Northern Alberta and for the York Region Catholic District School Board. Diane was always creative in writing poetry and verse that was both whimsical and amusing. She possessed a dry but keen sense of humour. Diane's generous and faith-filled spirit enabled her to reach out to others and kept her daily outlook on life positive and rewarding. Diane is survived by her mother Marguerite (Larocque) Murphy and her brothers and sisters: Tom (wife Diane); Anne (husband Alan Gordon); Bob (wife Carmen); Barb (husband Hermann Kraus) and her twin brother David. She is predeceased by her father Joe and her brothers Jim and Dan. A resident of Garson for many years, he was a member of St. Augustin Church and worked for 35 years at INCO Ltd., retiring in 1991. He was a past member of the Chevaliers de Colomb and a member of the INCO Quarter Century Club. Guy was a devoted husband and father and very proud of his grandchildren. LOVE, Kathy Mildred and Brody Earl Ross In loving memory of Kathy Mildred Love and Brody Earl Ross Love. Killed tragically on Saturday, January 7, 2006. Kathy, age 50 years, was a proud Manitoulin native who married high school sweetheart Tony in 1974. They moved to Sudbury where she worked at the Royal Bank for 28 years and was much loved by her co-workers and clients alike. She was a kind and caring individual who enjoyed reading and spending time with her family at her Mindemoya cottage. She especially enjoyed spending time with her cherished grandchildren. Brody, age 25 years, was born and raised in Sudbury and spent his summers on Manitoulin Island working for Williamson's General Store. Brody was an avid fisherman and hunter who also loved hockey and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. He was very quick with a joke and was a caring and giving individual. WOOD, Vera Isabel (Watt) In loving memory of Vera Isabel Wood (Watt), 90 years who passed away Sunday, January 8th, 2006 at Pioneer-Manor. Vera Isabel Watt was born in 1915 in Orillia, Ontario. She was the daughter of Edward and Parenthenia (Enid) (Wilson) Watt. She was raised in Longford Mills and South River and married Claude Arthur Wood in 1936. They moved to Capreol, Ontario in 1948 where Claude was employed as a Locomotive Engineer for the CNR. They raised 6 children in Capreol. Claude passed away in 1970. Vera, a stay-at-home Mum, active, outgoing, and good natured learned to drive at the age of 55 and became employed as Capreol's head librarian. She was a faithful and dedicated employee and retired from the library in 1990, when she was 75 years old. Vera was a member of St. Alban's Anglican Church and was a member of the Eastern Star and attended many monthly meetings with her faithful friend, Doreen Ardiel. She was an avid reader and loved to watch her favorite T.V. shows especially Hollywood Squares. Beloved wife of Claude Wood predeceased in 1970. Loving mother of Janis (husband Tony Bevilacqua) and Nancy (husband Don Allen) both of Capreol, Blake of Hornepayne, predeceased by Claudette (husband Doug White), Sharon (husband Peter Hellstrom of Sudbury) and James (wife Glenda of Capreol). TORIKKA, Matti In loving memory of Matti Torikka, 84 years, of Sudbury, who passed away after a courageous & lenghty battle with failing health Saturday, January 7th, 2006 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre with his daughters by his side. He was born in Viipuri, Karjala Finland and married Annikki (Niemi) in 1953 in Finland. Matti came to Canada in 1954 from Finland. He was a skilled finishing carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a self- employed contractor and a member of the local carpenter's union for many years until his retirement in 1987. He had served in the Finnish Army during WWII and he was a member of the Finnish War Veteran's Association. In younger days he was a champion athlete in Track & Field within the local Finnish community. A Lutheran he had been an avid reader of World history before his failing eyesight. Matti had lived life to the fullest until his health failed. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humour which he generously shared with his loving family and many friends. Beloved husband of Annikki (Niemi) Torikka of Sudbury. Loving father of Kirsti Broatch and Raija Principe (husband Frank) both of Sudbury. HEINRICH, Kenneth Wilson It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Wilson Heinrich announces his passing on Saturday, January 7, 2006. He and Doris spent their retirement together traveling, fishing, camping, working in the yard, attending dances and spending time with family and friends. MILES, Agnes Susannah (nee Kuck) 1921 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Agnes Miles on Friday, January 6, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Agnes was a very special person who was adored and loved by everyone she touched. She will be fondly remembered for her caring and generous manner. She enjoyed sewing and loved gardening, especially caring for the roses and sweet peas in her garden. Agnes was born on September 17, 1921 in High River, Alberta. She completed her registered nursing certificate at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. Soon after completion, she married William H. Pedersen. She dedicated her life to her family and raising her three children. Agnes will be sadly missed by her two sons, daughter and son-in-law, Douglas Pedersen of Glasgow, Scotland, William Pedersen of Calgary, Gloria and Herb Willms of Vernon, B.C.; four grandchildren, Todd of Scotland, Karri of Winnipeg, Michelle of Medicine Hat and Travis (Debbie) of Calgary; two great-grandchildren; sister Josephine Welch and her two children, George (Pat) and Maureen (Dennis) of Edmonton; cousins, Mary and John Sutherland, Terry Dunlop and Monica Kuck, all of Calgary, AB, Elsie Clews, Mick and Rhona Davis and George Kuck, all of England. BROWN, Beatrice "Bea" Ada Beatrice "Bea" Ada Brown, beloved wife of the late Edward G. "Ted" Brown of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, at the CareWest - Sarcee Nursing Home on January 4, 2006, at the age of 102 years. Bea will be lovingly remembered by her niece Betty (Don) Wheeler of P.E.I.; nephews, Bob (Susan) Watson and Tom (Purita) Watson of Calgary; stepson Barry (Thelma) Brown of Lethbridge; stepdaughter Betty Jess of Edmonton; along with numerous grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren and friends. Bea was predeceased by her first husband Jim Avery, her second husband Ted Brown, her sister Lauretta (Harold) Watson, son-in-law Don Jess as well as her parents, Mary and Frank Nicholson. Bea was born in Toronto on November 5, 1903 and moved to Calgary in 1906. With the exception of the time she spent in Minnesota with Jim prior to his passing in 1956 she was a proud resident of Calgary all her life. Bea was presented with the Alberta Centennial Medallion by Premier Ralph Klein in May of 2005. OBITUARY MARTHA EDWARDS 1958 - 2006 At the Montreal General Hospital on January 7, 2006 at the age of forty-eight Martha passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves to mourn Chris and their beloved daughter Heather the love of her life. She will be sadly missed by her mother Rhoda (the late Bob Edwards) her brothers John (Gayle) Douglas (Paula) her sister Janet (Chuck) and her nieces and nephew. Her loss will also be felt by the Dodd family who were very dear to her. Martha had many wonderful friends who helped and comforted her; she especially talked with kindness and respect of her team at Nortel. A sincere thank you to Dr. Steve Ades of the oncology department at the General who always made Martha feel special as well as all the staff at the palliative care centre. SWERDFEGER, Arnold Russell December 18, 1927-January 8,2006 Retired Principal-Ottawa Board of Education Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 54 years to "Pat" Patricia (Campbell). Cherished father of Mary Ann Swerdfeger. Son of the late Russell and the late Alice Swerdfeger of Morewood, Ontario. Arn was a highly respected teacher and then principal with the Ottawa Board of Education from 1953-1983. He was the founding principal of Centennial Public School, devoted to the education of children with special needs. He was a faithful member of Woodroffe United Church and past president (1995/96) and active member the Kiwanis Club of Sage of Ottawa. Arn had a wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by his many friends and relatives as the caring, thoughtful and hard working person that he was. The family would like to thank Dr. Taylor, Dr. Gick, the many nurses, PSWs, neighbours and friends who cared for Arn and gave the family invaluable support. JONES, Maurice Harry (Jonah) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at home on January 8, 2006, the day after the joyful celebration of his 79th birthday. Loving partner of Lavina Delamont, husband of Eleanor Catherine Jones (deceased), father of Derek Richard Jones and Heather Ann Baxter (Jones). Will be sorely missed by his grandchildren: Nicole, Jennifer, and Gregory. Jonah was born in London England in 1927, the second son of Hilda and Harry Jones, and a younger brother to Eric. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of London and emigrated to Canada in 1950. Jonah was a post-doc fellow at the National Research Council (Ottawa), before embarking on a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years at the Ontario Research Foundation. As well, he served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Research Management Association. Jonah loved to travel, was a gourmet cook and lover of fine cuisine, a wine connoisseur, and employed his chemistry background in winemaking. He spent hours reading and greatly enjoyed photography and many sports including skiing, golf, swimming, and rowing (as a former member of the University of London team). Jonah was a family man who loved spending time with the family at home and at the cottage in Grand Bend. The family invites relatives and friends to a visitation at the Lee Funeral Home, 249 Queen Street South (continuation of Mississauga Road north of Eglinton Ave.), Streetsville (Mississauga), Ontario from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11.
