Marion B. MacLeod December 31, 1917 - December 10, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Fair Haven Funeral Home Marion B. MacLeod of Royal Court, born December 31, 1917, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on December 10th 2005. Marion was the beloved daughter of the late Stella (Heffer) MacLeod and the late J. Heffer, and stepdaughter of the late George MacLeod. She grew up in a loving family environment and is survived by many cousins and aunts on the MacLeod side of the family. She was very fond of Grandmother Gould. Marion was deeply loved and respected as a friend and volunteer by many people. She worked tirelessly locally, nationally and internationally and often anonymously for the betterment of those in need, especially children. Marion was an esteemed businesswoman and worked in several executive capacities. Following her graduation from Moncton High School and Business College, she was employed by Lounsbury’s Vehicle Division as secretary. She then moved on to Dryden Motors as Sectary Treasurer until 1976. She worked as Ward Secretary at The Moncton Hospital for ten years, making many friends with staff and patients alike. Marion never really retired as a volunteer. She served on many Advisory Boards and was the Sectreary Treasurer of St. John’s United Church, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada and the Canadian Mental Health Association. She served as the Treasurer of the Residents Association at Royal Court. She held memberships in The Moncton Flying Club, as executive and member, President of the Ladies Beaver Curling Club, Treasurer of the Fort Monckton Chapter IODE, and member of the Moncton Golf Club. Marion received many prestigious honors. She was the first woman licensed Pilot in New Brunswick. She was honored by the Moncton Flying Club during the Fly Up 2000 Graduation Ceremonies. Marion’s achievements were recognized in the book about women in Canada aviation “No Place for a Woman” . Marion was an avid golfer, curler and photographer. Throughout her life she sought new challenges. She extended her education in many ways; she studied French, took photography courses, carpentry courses and was always competent and dedicated to the task at hand. Marion was a deeply religious person. Her warmth and kindly sprit and friendly smile will be sadly missed in our community to which she was deeply involved and devoted. The family and friends of Marion wish to convey their deepest gratitude to her caregivers and all who have supported her during her recent illness. A memorial service will be held from the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home 1177 Salisbury Road, at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 17th 2005. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room of the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Marion may be made to the charity of your choice. John Alan Godfrey July 03, 1933 - December 13, 2005 John passed away peacefully at his home in Waterdown, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Angelika Plath. Loved father of David (Julie) Godfrey of Port Hope, Suzanne Godfrey-Wilson (Rick) of Burlington, Peter Liste of Copetown, Axel (Sue) Liste of Vancouver and Tanya Liste of Copetown. Peter Braun August 30, 1926 - December 11, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully, on Sunday, December 11, 2005, Peter Braun, passed away at the Riverview Health Centre. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Eleanor; sister Mary Schultz and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was born August 30, 1926 in Morse, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm in Glen Kerr, and then moved to Niverville, Manitoba. He worked construction in Northern Manitoba before joining Manitoba Hydro. Peter retired from Manitoba Hydro after 26 years of service. Twelve of those years were spent in Thompson and Northern Manitoba. Peter was a member of the Fort Garry Pentecostal Assembly and served on the board, as well as an usher and handy man at the church. A great joy for Peter was to plant his vegetable garden and stand back and watch the Lord make it grow, which he enjoyed sharing with his neighbours. He was a member of Pembina Old Timers Recreation Association, where he enjoyed curling and golfing. Peter was presently a member of Evangel Chapel, where he participated in the Seniors Club and enjoyed ushering as well. The family thanks Dr. Crawford and the caring staff of 3 East, Palliative Care at Riverview Health Centre, for the loving and compassionate care given to Peter. Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, at Evangel Chapel, 1073 St. Marys Road, phone 257-0143. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Frances M. Mann PORTAGE VALE, NB - Frances M. Mann, age 76, of Portage Vale, passed away, Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Carrie (Wortman) Ayles. She retired from the Federal Government, UIC Department with over 30 years of service, prior to this she had been a teacher, having taught in Mont Eagle, Wheaton Settlement and Middlesex. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Marguerite Douthwright of Petitcodiac and Betty O'Neill of Salisbury; several nieces and nephews. MAGEE, DOROTHY IRENE - On Sunday, December 11, 2005, with family by her side, Dorothy Magee, loving wife of the late Gerhard Stanley Magee, passed away peacefully at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Saint John, NB., she was the daughter of the late James S. and Maude D. (Campbell) Donner. Dorothy belonged to the congregation and choir of the Church of the Shepherd for many years along with her late husband Gerhard. She was an Honorary Life Member of the Branch #69 - Ladies Auxiliary and in her earlier days, assisted her mother in the day-to-day operation of Donner's Tourist Cabins on Manawagonish Road in Fairvale. BOWMAN, Margaret Clark. Passed away of natural causes on December 11 in Oxford, PA. She was a resident of Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford. Mrs. Bowman is survived by three grandchildren Stephen Bowman of Baltimore, MD, Susan Bowman Warren of Baltimore, MD and Douglas Bowman of West Chester, PA. She was the beloved great grandmother of William Raymond Warren and Daniel Paul Warren of Baltimore and mother-in-law to Betty Jo Bowman of Kennett Square, PA. Mrs. Bowman was born on July 12, 1909 in Montreal, Canada and was married to Ernest Bowman of Montreal who died in 1969. Her son, Raymond R. Bowman of Kennett Square, pre-deceased her in 2002. Mrs. Bowman moved to the United States in 1970 and lived in Unionville and West Chester before moving to Oxford in 2003. She became a U.S. citizen in 1995. Services will be private. Ray Homer Servage, 82 Ray Homer Servage, of Cardinal, died on Nov. 18, 2005 at St. Vincent de Paul Hospital in Brockville at the age of 82. He was born on Dec. 13, 1922 at Williamsburg Township to parents Lloyd Servage and Della Barkley. He married Blanche Servage (nee Plumadore). Mr. Servage was a pipefitter at DuPont. He is survived by his sons Lloyd (Martha), Rick (Mary) and Larry (Tanya), daughters Brenda (Bob Warren) and Sandra Servage, grandchildren Christopher, Jeffrey and Nicole Servage, Tracy and Michael Warren, Kimberly Davison, Mark and Denise Servage, Joe-Anne Brisson and Mallory Hayden Servage, five great grandchildren, sisters Ida Hanlon, Grace Hughes and Betty (Don Shay), brothers Dalton (Peggy) and Hubert and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, brothers Ernie and Dwayne and sisters Pearl Manhard and Audrey McMillan. Visitation took place on Nov. 20 at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott. OUELLETTE, BRIAN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Ouellette at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, December 9th, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Armand and Mary (McGovern) Ouellette and the husband of Anne (Lirette) Ouellette. Brian was a faithful husband, proud and loving father and a kind and gentle man. He was a man of great spirit, wisdom, faith and love. His dedication and devoted love to his family and community went above and beyond the call of duty. Brian was a highly regarded member of the St. Thomas University Community having been a professor in the Department of Social Work since 1984. Over his years at St. Thomas Brian developed a well-deserved reputation as an exceptional teacher and tireless worker on behalf of the students and the University he loved. His expertise and contributions led to him being awarded both the Outstanding Teaching Award and St. Thomas University Faculty Merit Award. Brian had served in many capacities at St. Thomas University including - Chair of the Department of Social Work as well as Chairing or serving on numerous University committees. Beyond St. Thomas Brian's professional and academic responsibilities included presentations at numerous national and international conferences and local workshops which he facilitated on various issues related to social work practice. Brian was noted, in particular, for his work in the area AIDS/HIV, counseling, crisis intervention, and spirituality. Brian developed the first course on Spirituality and Social Work in Canada, and was a Co-founder of, and played a central role in, the Canadian Society for Spirituality and Social Work including planning five national conferences. In 2005 Brian was Editor of the Canadian Social Work Journal and had served on its Editorial Board for many years. In addition Brian served as a peer reviewer for many scholarly journals, Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work, and the Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR). He was an active member of the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers, the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW), and was a recipient of the CASW Social Worker of the Year Award. In our community Brian contributed in many, many areas. For example, He was a long-time Catechist at Holy Family Parish, served as Interchange Coordinator for Children's International Summer Villages (CISV), and served on the Advisory Board of the Fredericton Community Health Clinic. Survived by his wife, Anne; three sons, Denis (Dawn) in Calgary, AB, Phillippe in Ottawa and Eric at Mount Allison, Sackville; one daughter, Rachel Ouellette at Memorial University, NL; one brother, Don Ouellette of Fredericton, NB. He was predeceased by his parents; and stepmother, Theresa. Visitation will be held at the McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home 160 York Street, Fredericton, on Monday, December 12th, 2005 from 7-9 pm and Tuesday, December 13th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14th, 2005 at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church at 12:00 noon. Rev. J.J. Dolan as Celebrant.
