Allard Comeau (1925-2005) l'Acadie Nouvelle - 12 décembre 2005 FAIRISLE - À l’Hôpital régional de Miramichi, le vendredi 9 décembre 2005, à l’âge de 80 ans, est décédé Allard Comeau, époux de feu Vitaline Savoie, domicilié à Village St-Laurent, mais autrefois de Fairisle. Né le 17 juin 1925, il était fils de feu Israël Comeau et de feu Marie-Anne Fournier. Outre son amie, Bertha Poirier de Village St-Laurent, il laisse dans le deuil cinq filles: Claudette (Denis Hébert), Régine et Murielle (Venance Benoît), toutes de Shippagan, France (Paul Lanteigne) de Notre-Dame-des-Érables et Johanne (John Boudreau) de Moncton; deux fils: Donald et Valmond (Nicole), tous deux de Fairisle; deux brus: Jeanne D’arc (feu Fernand) et Estelle (feu Bertrand) de Fairisle; sept petits-enfants: Jean-Sébastien, Anabelle, Guylaine, Jonathan, Maryse, Mathieu et Guillaume, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Une fille, Claudine (2002); deux fils: Fernand (2003) et Bertrand (2004); une petite-fille, Sophie; cinq enfants en bas âge; une soeur, Florida, ainsi que deux frères: Lionel et Léon, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Comeau était la dernière personne vivante de sa famille immédiate. La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison Robichaud, 50, rue Otho à Néguac. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Bernard de Néguac, le lundi 12 décembre, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. Heures de visites: le lundi 12 décembre, de 13h jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. Il était fils de feu José Grant et de feu Emma Roy. Il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Suzanne (John) Murray de Strathroy, Ont.; un fils, Michel (Yvette) Grant de Petit-Rocher; une soeur, Sr Annonciade Grant, rhsj, de Bathurst; un frère, Patrice (Antoinette) Grant de Montréal, ainsi que six petits-enfants et deux arrière-petits-enfants. Cinq soeurs: Stella, Irène, Laurette, Léona et Priscille, ainsi que deux frères: Germain et Jean, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. Il n’y aura pas de visites au salon funéraire. FARRELL, Rita The family announces with sorrow her death of Rita Farrell of North Bay at the age of 84. Rita passed away peacefully with loving family at her side, Saturday December 10, 2005. Daughter of the late Josephine and Maurice Farrell. She was also predeceased by her brother, Father Francis Farrell sj. She is survived by her sisters - Sister Mary Farrell CND of Toronto, Rose Hefferman (Burt - deceased), Margaret Cainen (Larry - deceased) of Dartmouth, N.S., Bernadette Farrell of Montreal, Maureen Farrell of Sault St. Marie and her brothers, Dr. Patrick Farrell (Barbara), Monsignor Raymond Farrell and Dr. Maurice Farrell (Virginia) all of Sudbury. She will be dearly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. DESFORGES, Stella (nee Kubi) In loving memory of Stella (nee Kubi) Desforges, 69 years, of Chelmsford, who passed away Friday, December 9th, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre. She was born in Sudbury. A life resident of the Sudbury area, she was a Roman Catholic who had belonged to St. Bartholomew's Church and parish CWL. She enjoyed crosswords, puzzles and reading. The focus of her life was her loving family. Beloved mother of Cheryl Desforges (husband Ray Forigo) of Chelmsford and Donna Desforges (husband Brian Nalker) of DesPlaines, Ill. Cherished daughter of John and Anne (Kubi) Rapski predeceased. Loving sister of Frank Rapski of Levack, Debbie Rapski of Chelmsford and the late Sophie Matheson and John Rapski both predeceased. Special sister in law of Therese Rapski of Levack. Dear aunt of Stephen, Kathy, Frank Jr., Naomi, Allan and their families. Sadly missed by Robert and Heather Desforges of Ottawa. At Stella's request cremation will take place immediately. CRISTO, Raffaele In loving memory of Raffaele Cristo, 82 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Saturday, December 10th, 2005 at Lasalle Residence, Sudbury. He was born in Ponza, Italy and married Carmela "Rita" (Vitiello) in 1949 in Italy. Raffaele came to Sudbury in 1953 from Italy. He had been a custodian at the Sudbury Board of Education for 23 years, retiring in 1988. A Roman Catholic he had belonged to Holy Trinity Church. He enjoyed shopping, gardening and cooking. The focus of his life was his loving family. Beloved husband of Carmela "Rita" (Vitiello) Cristo of Sudbury. Loving father of Silvio Cristo (wife Dale) of Sudbury. Cherished grandpa of Selena (husband Paul William), Christopher (wife Cindy) and Neil Anthony (wife Sherry). Loving nonno to Mathew, Logan, Tyler and Ryley. Dear son of Luigi and Civita (Mazzella) Cristo predeceased. McALLISTER, Calvin Lloyd In loving memory of Calvin Lloyd McAllister, December 7, 1931 - December 10, 2005. Calvin McAllister, a resident of Azilda, died at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Site, on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the age of 74 years. He was born at Spring Bay, son of the late Neil and Pearl (Lewis) McAllister. He had worked as a conductor at INCO for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Calvin loved to hunt and just this past season, had a successful deer hunt. He also loved to spend time at the family farm at Spring Bay. From the time he left the farm, he always had an interest in farming, and knowing how the crops were and any other information he could find out from the local farmers when he spent time at the farm. Calvin's family were of the utmost importance in his life. Always interested in where the kids and grand kids were, what they were doing and how they were. He will be sadly missed, but will be remembered for his sense of humour and many memorable times will be cherished. Calvin is survived by his beloved wife Winnifred (Pattison) McAllister of Azilda; loving and loved father of Debra McAllister and her husband Eric Sheffield of Toronto; Sharon and husband Robert Duncan of Sudbury; Terry McAllister and his wife Sharon Field of Sault Ste. Elsie of Wasaga Beach, predeceased by her husband Bill (1987). CLENDENNING, Thomas Gerald, P. Eng Peacefully on Tuesday December 6, 2005 at Eagle Terrace in Newmarket, Ontario, surrounded by his wife and three children. Gerald was born July 26, 1918, and was the third of four sons of Campbell and Anna May (McNeely) Clendenning, on a farm near Gananoque, Ontario. A graduate of Queen's University (1941), he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Corps of Engineers and served in the invasion of Italy and the liberation of the Netherlands. He married Evelyn Marie Preston of Portland, Ontario in England on November 14, 1943. After the war he joined Ontario Hydro and retired from its Research Division in 1983, having used his expertise in the science of concrete engineering to work on nuclear waste disposal, and as a private consultant, on the construction of the Toronto City Hall, Trent University and the CN Tower. CRESSEY, DOROTHY MAY Passed away peacefully at the Oak Terrace Nursing Home in Orillia on Saturday December 10, 2005 in her 81st year. Dorothy Cressey (nee Nichols) of Orillia, predeceased by her loving husband Robert Cressey. Dear sister of Mildred Cole of Barrie, and Bob and Joan Nichols of Orillia. Dorothy will be missed by her nieces and nephews Dan and Diane Cole, Warren and Linda Bemrose, Lisa and Morgan Davy, and Chris Hardie and Jim Knox, along with 8 great nieces and nephews and 4 great great nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by special friends Ron Stinson and Susan Townsend. Predeceased by her niece Trudy Bemrose. Gibson, James Macandrew (Andy) (December 13th, 1937 - December 9th, 2005) Peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Friday December 9th, 2005 in his 68th year. Beloved husband of Cecile and the late Jane. Loving father of Robin (Todd) Parry, Carrie (Mark) Pyatt, Duff (Jen) Gibson, Susie Gibson and his step-children Ian Mosley and Janine (Dan) Trudeau. He will be sadly missed by his granddaughter Rachel Pyatt. Willie Bertrand, Jr., 74, of Winnie died December 10, 2005 at Winnie Community Hospital. He was born in Kaplan, Louisiana and has been a resident of the Winnie area for sixty-five years. Willie was a veteran of the United States Navy were he served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bertrand of Winnie; sons, Lee Bertrand and his wife Sue of Winnie and Bill Bertrand and his wife Debbie of Bryan; sister, Rena Bagesse of Midland; grandchildren, Billie Bertrand, Travis Bertrand and Jessica Bertrand; great granddaughter, Felicia Bertrand. Rose A. (Binette) Gagne, 94, of Christian Lane, passed away Sunday (December 11, 2005) at Walnut Hill Convalescent Home, New Britain. She was originally from Wotton, Canada and was the wife of the late Henry Gagne. Rose was a member of Saint Paul Church, Kensington and a member of Saint Ann's Ladies Guild, New Britain. She is survived by a son Richard Gagne of Berlin and several Nieces and Nephews. RENE P. BOMBARDIER NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C./GEORGIA, Vt. — Rene P. Bombardier, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at the home of his daughter Laurie, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Rene was born on March 8, 1933, in Swanton, the son of Henry and Rosealda (Thibert) Bombardier. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving as a Corporal during the Korean conflict. He married Carolyn Branch on Sept. 8, 1956, in St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton. Rene was employed at A.L. Barcomb, presently Dowlings, for many years as a warehouse manager. He also worked for the Buyers Digest. For the last 17 years, he and Carolyn have lived in North Myrtle Beach. Jacques "Jim" Boucher of Newington surrendered to his last courageous challenge on Saturday, (December 10, 2005) at home. He leaves his devoted wife and dancing partner, of 47 years, Cecile (Picard) Boucher. Born, July 27, 1927 in Baker Brook, New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Joseph and Delina (Belanger) Boucher, he lived in Newington for many years and was a member of St. Mary's Church. Jim retired from the Town of West Hartford 16 years ago and was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3884. He was a member of the Newington Senior Center and the AARP Chapter #697. Jim enjoyed going to the French Council Model Club and loved to dance, travel, camping and casino trips. Jim had a fighting spirit and survived many challenges in his life, a very caring husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his two daughters, Yvonne Kittridge and her husband, Dennis of Miami, FL, Nancy Warwick of New Bern, NC; a brother, Alfred Boucher and his wife, Anita of Lewiston, ME; a sister, Marie St. Denis and her husband, Normand of Lewiston, ME; four grandchildren, Cindy Mross, Nadine Schutz, Ronnie Warwick, Nathan Kittridge; two great-grandchildren, Engelique Schutz, and Caleb Mross. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and will be missed by many. LaLonde, Suzanne Denniston -- December 9, 2005 Suzanne D. LaLonde, 69, of Syracuse, died peacefully in her home on Friday. LaLonde graduated from the University of Colorado and later, while raising a family, earned a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University's Maxwell School. She served as director of recycling and waste reduction for the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency from 1990 until 2001, when she retired. During her tenure with OCRRA, she established Operation Separation, the successful countywide recycling program that has served as a model for recycling efforts state- and nationwide. Throughout her life she volunteered for and held leadership positions with numerous civic, church and community organizations, including serving as president of the League of Women Voters of Syracuse and as a member of the LWV state board; the Syracuse InterReligious Council of Central New York; the Syracuse Catholic Diocesan Commission on Women; Family Workplace Taskforce; Thursday Morning Roundtable; and Voice of the Faithful. She has received many awards, including most recently the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Association of Recycling, Reuse and Reduction, and the Post Standard Woman of Achievement Award in 1991. GAGNE, REVEREND RENE E., 79, pastor emeritus of Precious Blood Church in Woonsocket, died Saturday, December 10, 2005. Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Eugene N. and Rose A. (Godin) Gagne, he attended Saint Ann Parochial School and Mount Saint Charles Academy. In preparation for the priesthood, he studied at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, in Warwick Neck, and Saint Paul's Seminary in Ottawa, Canada. He was ordained a priest on May 19, 1951 at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, in Providence, by Bishop Russell J. McVinney.Father Gagne's first assignment was at Saint John Church, in Slatersville, as assistant pastor, followed by similar assignments at Saint Joan of Arc Church, Cumberland, (1951-1952), Saint Ann Church, Woonsocket, (1952-1959), Saint James Church, Manville, (1959-1960), Holy Family Church, Woonsocket, (1960-1968), and Saint John the Baptist Church, West Warwick, (1968-1973). In January 1973, Father Gagne was appointed pastor of Precious Blood Church, Woonsocket, and remained there until his retirement, as pastor emeritus, in January, 1996.In addition to his parish duties, Father Gagne served as Friar to the Knights of Columbus, Wallace General Assembly, in West Warwick (1969), as Dean of the Woonsocket #14 Deanery (1973-1978), and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Clergy Mutual Benefit Fund.In recent years, Father Gagne was a resident of the Saint John Vianney Residence, Providence, and offered his priestly help at Saint Augustine Church, Providence, Blessed Sacrament Church, Providence and Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, North Providence until he moved to the Saint Antoine Residence, North Smithfield.Father Gagne leaves a brother; Eugene L. HARRY “DAN“ GIGURE SOUTH BURLINGTON — Harry “Dan“ Gigure, 53, a lifelong resident of South Burlington, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. Dan was born in Burlington on April 4, 1952, the son of Harry R. and Jane (Larmie) Gigure. He attended South Burlington Schools. After high school, Dan had various work endeavors such as logging in Maine, construction, used car sales and auto-body repair. In recent years he was an avid collector of memorabilia, collectibles, and most notably, sports cards. Dan enjoyed playing billiards and cards, had many friends and acquaintances and was well known throughout his life for his ability to make everybody laugh. Dan is survived by his daughters, Allison DeMerse and Danielle Gigure, his son, Kyle Gendron-Gigure, a grandson, Kaleb; his sister, Kathy Scribner of Bennington; his brother, Alan Giguere and his wife, Julie, of Burlington; his step-mother, Rosemary Farr of South Burlington and many nieces and nephews. Phillip Wesley LeBlanc, 22, of Garland, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at 9:20 p.m. at Opelousas General Health System. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with family and friends. He also loved listening to music, and Christmas was his favorite holiday. His favorite vacation spot was Holly Beach, where he enjoyed crabbing. WORCESTER— Mary P. (Sullivan) Courtois, 71, of Worcester, after a brief illness, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, in her family home, where she lived her entire life. Her husband, George A. Courtois, died in 1992. She leaves three sons, Michael G. Courtois and his wife M. Kathleen Courtois of Salem, N.H., Mark T. Courtois of Worcester and his fiancée Diane Adams, and Martin W. Courtois and his wife Mary June Courtois of Worcester; a daughter, Maureen E. Paige and her husband Paul Paige of Worcester; a brother, Timothy J. Sullivan Jr. of Worcester; a sister, Sister Elizabeth Sullivan S.S.J. of Chicopee; and ten grandchildren. Her brother Michael J. Sullivan died in 1987 and her brother William J. Sullivan died in 1991. Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of Timothy J. and Mary E. (Dineen) Sullivan. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School. She was an operator for the New England Telephone Co. for several years before becoming a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She was devoted to her family especially her grandchildren. Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Tuesday, December 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. TETU, EDITH LOUISE Edith Louise Tetu, 85, died of cancer on November 16, 2005 in Camden, SC. She was predeceased by her husband, Colonel Robert G. Tetu, U.S. Army, Retired, in 1972. Edith was born in Rhode Island and lived in San Diego from 1972 until early this year. Edith was a loving mother and devoted wife who enjoyed Army life, traveling to visit her five children, and an occasional dry martini. She was an avid golfer and expert bridge player. Edith adored her grandchildren and showered them with her love, wisdom, humor, and generosity. Edith's survivors include her daughters, Janet T. Butcher and Joan M. Appling; her sons, Robert G. Tetu, William J. Tetu, and Richard P. Tetu; her twelve grandchildren, and her six great-grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated at three o'clock, December 21, at the Fort Myer Chapel, Fort Myer, VA.
