LATHAM, NY -- Antoinette M. Toni Gendron died August 10, 2005 at Our Lady of Hope Residence. Born in Waterford, she had lived most of her life in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Chamberland Gendron. She had worked at New York State Department of Labor for 29 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Cohoes Columbiettes and a life member of the Cohoes Senior Citizens. She had been a communicant of St. Bernard's Church. She was sister of the late Joseph Gendron, Col. Thomas Gendron, Rev. Charles Gendron M.S., Norman Gendron and Jean Gregory; sister-in-law of Dolores Gendron of Latham and Marguerite Gendron of Fla.; also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Miss Gendron's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Little Sisters of the Poor and staff members at Our Lady of Hope for the kindness, loving care and support given to our loved one. Lorraine L. Erickson, 74, of Concord, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Concord Hospital. She was the daughter of Arthur and Claire (Provost) Laramie. She worked as a cook for eight years at the Philbrick Center, in the laundry department at Margaret Pillsbury Hospital, and in the dietary department at New Hampshire State Hospital. She was an avid bingo player and was a one-of-a-kind mom, grandma and friend who will be sadly missed. She is survived by two sons, Wayne W. Erickson of Concord and Arthur Erickson of Penacook; one daughter, Tammy Lee Erickson of Boscawen; two sisters, Cheryl Couture of Boscawen and Claire Hillsgrove of Penacook; and nine grandchildren, Joshua Erickson, Alicia Erickson, Caleb Erickson, Brittany Erickson, Stephen Erickson, Mark Erickson, Tina Jodoin, Savannah Jodoin and Natasha Fanny. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Erickson Jr.; and one grandson, William A. Erickson III. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Blanche M. Longpre, 84, of Allenstown, died August 10, 2005, at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, August 4, 1921, and was the daughter of Andrew and Arilda (Carbonneau) Cassidy. She had been a resident of Allenstown most of her life. She and her husband owned and operated Onil’s Restaurant on Main St. in Allenstown for many years. She was married to Onil Longpre who died in 1986. Family members include three sisters, Stella Couture, Rita Cassidy, and Lise Cassidy, all of Montreal, Quebec; nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. After cremation, urn burial will be in Le Repos St. Francois D’Assise Cemetery in Montreal, Quebec, at the convenience of the family. BAILEY, Gladys Joan June 4, 1926- August 9, 2005 Peacefully in hospital with her family by her side, Mom has gone to be with her beloved husband of 54 years, Russell Howard Bailey. Mom was the family confidant, humorist, muse and support system for an extended group of adults and children spread all over Canada and the world. Her never ending patience and understanding, combined with a genuine interest in all people was capped with a constant sense of humour that never failed to lift a spirit or make a sad face smile. She was welcome wherever she chose to visit and left behind warm memories with everyone who was graced with the privilege of her company. In life she was spectacularly successful bringing life to and raising 5 children to adulthood and beyond, as well as being a life partner to the man she loved dearly. In her later years mom selflessly spent enormous energies caring for her ailing husband, showing no lack of energy or spirit in what was a very trying time. In detail, she was the beloved wife of Russell and dear mother of Marcia, Lincoln (Helen), Stephen (Sachie), Anne and Geoffrey (Donna). A loving and proud Grandmother of Rebecca, Duncan, Elizabeth, Russell, Christine, Eric, Colin, Ted and his soon-to-be announced younger brother. Mom was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Swain) and William McDonald and loving sister of William, Peggy, Dorothy, John and Jim. As per Mom's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Naquin Sr., Paul M. A much loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Paul went to his heavenly rest on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005. He was 67 and a native and resident of Gonzales. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 426 W. New River, Gonzales, on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joel LaBauve. Burial in Mount Zion Church Cemetery. He is survived by three sons, Paul M. Naquin II of Gonzales and his special friend, Tina Palmer, Codie Naquin and wife Jennie of Prairieville, and Danny and wife Linda Naquin of French Settlement; grandchildren, Paul III, Robin, C.J. and Laci Naquin; a great-grandson, Paul IV; stepgrandchildren, Kevin Trahan Jr. and Jason Trahan; two sisters, Marjorie "Patsy" Richardson and husband Gail, and Joyce Naquin, both of Gonzales; a brother, Alvin Naquin of Synder, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Kankakee, where she was a longtime member. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to NAMI, Kankakee County Local, 1335 Jerome Blvd., Bradley, Ill., 60915. She died Tuesday (Aug. 9, 2005) at Tabor Hill Nursing Home in Naperville. Mrs. Senesac retired from Eastridge High School, where she was secretary in the guidance office from 1966-1982. She was born Oct. 14, 1917, in St. Anne, the daughter of Emory and Yvonne Benoit Soucie. Her husband, Orell Senesac, whom she married Nov. 4, 1939, in St. Anne, died July 14, 1993. She was a member of the CCW at her church and the Kankakee Woman's Club. She was a member and started the local chapter of NAMI (National Alliance for Mentally Ill). She enjoyed playing bridge and flower arranging. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary and Diane Senesac of Wasilla, Alaska, David Senesac of Wheaton; one daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Richard Stearns of Naperville; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Marguerite Frenzke and Maxine Kessler, both of Bourbonnais, Betty and Henry Luscz of Griffith, Ind., Sandra Zelazny of Grayslake; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are one brother, Emory "Bud" Soucie; and one sister, Wilodene Brown.

Pierre Le Bris, a travel industry executive who was a member of the Bay Area's lively French immigrant community for more than half a century and a World War II combat veteran of the Free French Navy, died of a stroke Friday while traveling through Wyoming. Mr. Le Bris, who was 85, was stricken while en route from his home in Walnut Creek to a summer residence in Calumet, Mich. He died at a hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Le Bris spent more than 40 years in the world of travel and is perhaps best remembered as one of the top French railroad officials who, in 1959, invented Eurailpass. Originally issued for one month of unlimited travel on European trains, the pass became wildly successful. It allowed North American tourists in Europe to travel through 13 different countries on one pass that they bought before going overseas. Eurailpass was "conceived for the North American market to encourage travel to Europe," according to Chris Lazarus, a spokeswoman for Rail Europe, the American distributor of Eurailpass, and about 5,000 sold the first year. More than 11 million passes have been sold since then, and they are now available for trains going into 17 countries. "Pierre was one of the key people instrumental in creating Eurailpass, and it's been a very successful product," said Andrew Lazarus, the father of Chris and a retired public relations executive whose public relations firm represented the French railroads. He worked with Mr. Le Bris in New York in the 1950s. "It was the granddaddy of travel passes." Mr. Le Bris was born in Nice, France, in June 1920 and spent much of his youth in China, where his father ran an import firm, selling refrigerators and other American products. After the American stock market crash of 1929, the Le Bris family returned to France, settling in the Rhone Valley. Mr. Le Bris was educated in local French schools and enrolled at the French Naval School near Brest in 1938. After World War II started in 1939, Mr. Le Bris served in a succession of posts aboard a submarine and a destroyer. After the fall of France, in June 1940, Mr. Le Bris served on ships that joined the Free French Forces, fighting with the Allies. While on convoy duty in the North Atlantic, Mr. Le Bris traveled to New York, where he met Jacqueline Duval in 1943. After the war, he came to New York and was admitted to the United States under what was called the War Brides Act. He married Ms. Duval in October 1945. In 1951, Mr. Le Bris joined the New York office of SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer), the big French railroad, and fell in love with the travel industry. Two years later, SNCF sent him to San Francisco as its sales manager. In fact, the Bay Area was one of the better places to be if you came from France. The French have been here since the middle of the 19th century, when 10,000 citizens arrived to try their luck during the Gold Rush of 1849. Many of those who didn't hit it big in the mother lode came to San Francisco and opened hotels and restaurants. A few years later, the French had established themselves in the Bay Area to the extent that in November 1855, shortly after French and British troops beat the Russians in the Crimean War, there was a big banquet in the middle of the city's South Park, a bastion of the French in San Francisco, to celebrate the victory, according to Father Etienne Siffert, former pastor of Notre Dame des Victoires, the French church on Bush Street. A century later, when Mr. Le Bris arrived, the French community had spawned more restaurants and hotels, along with 52 organizations and more than 100 French laundries. Most of the laundries are now gone. South Park, with its French cafe the Butler and the Chef Bistro, still feels distinctly like a small town in central France. Although there is no official census, an estimated 45,000 to 90,000 French immigrants live in the Bay Area. For his part, Mr. Le Bris served as president of the Union des Français a l'Etranger (the Association of French Citizens Abroad) in San Francisco and was a member of the Anciens Combattant, a French veterans group. Mr. Le Bris left SNCF in 1972 and joined Air France as an executive. He and his wife divorced in 1978, and he married Judith McKenzie in 1984. Mr. Le Bris is survived by his wife, Judith, of Walnut Creek; brother, Jacques Le Bris of Paris; sisters, Janick Recoing of Croze Hermitage, France, and Helene Maillard-Verger and Maryse Recoing, both of Paris; son, Christian Le Bris of New Canaan, Conn.; daughters, Elisabeth Le Bris and Marie Pierre Le Bris, both of Wilmette, Ill.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for Sept. 3 at University Church, Fordham University, the Bronx, N.Y. The family suggests contributions to United Medical Center Hospice, 214 East 23rd St., Cheyenne, WY 82001.

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Leon Paul Couture, 84, died Aug. 9, 2005, at Skilled Nursing Facility of Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor.He was born June 18, 1921, in Topsham, the son of Aldei and Josephine (Boutet) Couture.He was married to Opal M. Wood on Nov. 10, 1943.Mr. Couture worked as an equipment operator and mechanic for the Town of Hartford Highway Department for 46 years, retiring in 1989.He liked to spend time in the wilderness, hunting and enjoying nature.Survivors include three daughters, Pauline England of Milwaukee, Wis., Carolyn Coker of Hartland and Linda West of Plainfield, N.H.; six grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Couture and Ida McCarthy, both of Massachusetts, and Blanche Bruce of Windsor; several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years; and his brother, Oswald Couture.Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction.The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Church in White River Junction. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux Guy Martin, associé fondateur de Raymond Chabot Martin Paré, ses soeurs Hélène et Denise, ses beaux-frères Jean de Grand-pré et Marcel Martin, p.s.s., ses belles-soeurs, Louise Bricault et Madeleine Martin, ses enfants, ses dix-neuf petits-enfants ainsi que ses oncles et tantes et de nombreux neveux et nièces. Mariée depuis le 24 septembre 1948, elle a élevé et animé de façon intense la vie de famille de ses huit enfants Louis (Ginette Tremblay), Claude (Colette Richer), Sophie (Christian Roy), André (Sylvie Laurendeau), Antoine (Denise St-Gelais),Gilles (Hélène Pringle), Céline (décédée en 1983) et Luc (Sylvie Dagenais). Elle a aussi conseillé et bien pris soin de ses dix-neuf petits-enfants: Geneviève, Charles, Annie, Catherine, Élise, Francois, Gabrielle, Florence, Juliette, Antoine jr, Isabelle, Benoît, Camille, Hugo, Victor et Edgar Martin ainsi que Martin, Franz et Frédéric Seebacher. Tous ceux qui l'ont connue ont toujours bien apprécié sa bonne humeur, son optimisme, son accueil chaleureux et sa simplicité envers tous ceux qu'elle a rencontrés, particulièrement dans les fêtes qu'elle a organisées en de si nombreuses occasions. Elle sera exposée au salon funéraire Rodrigue Montpetit & Fils inc. 1580, route 132 dans le village de Saint-Anicet le vendredi 12 août en après-midi de 14 h à 17 h et en soirée de 19 h à 22 h et le samedi 13 août à compter de 9 h. VENICE, Fla. -- Corinne L. (LeBlanc) Patzer, 89, of Florida, previously of Mattapoisett, Mass., died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in Venice. She was the widow of George Patzer. Born in Acushnet, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Poirier) LeBlanc. She lived in Mattapoisett for many years until she moved to Florida. She was a longtime employee of the Acushnet Co. in New Bedford, Mass., until she retired. Mrs. Patzer enjoyed golf, bowling and bridge. She was a former member of the Reservation Golf Club in Mattapoisett. Survivors include a sister, Jeanne E. Chausse of New Bedford, and a brother, Robert LeBlanc of Hadlyme, Conn. She was the sister of the late Florence Vohnoutha, Lucille Moniz, Frank LeBlanc, George LeBlanc, Omer LeBlanc and Raymond LeBlanc. Cremation took place in Florida.

GRAY, CHARLES R. SR. - The death of Charles Ronald Gray, Sr. of Charlton Place, husband of Evelyn (LeBlanc) Gray, occurred on Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late James Andrew and Mary Alice (Martin) Gray. Ronald was employed as a cab driver. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the R.C.L. Branch # 64 and the Korea War Veterans Association. He enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets to find a deal. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, C. Ronald Gray, Jr. of Salt Springs; four daughters: Mary E. Allen, Helen C. Gray, Susan T. Gray all of Salt Springs; and C. Ruth Gray of Saint John; two brothers: Frederick (Mamie) Gray of Saint John; and Lewis (Mary Lou) Gray of Poodiac; four sisters: Agnes Perry of Bloomfield; Joan McGinnis and Shirley Goguen, both of Saint John; and Dolly Jones of Oshawa; four grandchildren: Shawna, Andrea and Lisa Shannon, and Terra Allen; two great-grandchildren: Kally Shannon and Isaiah Allen; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one daughter, Sissy and seven brothers: George, Jimmy, Alfred, Gordon, Walter, Vincent and Andy. A memorial service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 1:00 PM. MUISE, BENJAMIN (BEN) G. - Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather passed away peacefully on Aug 7, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Benny was born on Feb 4, 1921 in Yarmouth, NS, a son of the late Thomas and Frances Muise. He was one of 17 children. Benny is survived by his wife, Emily whom he married on Dec. 14, 1943 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; their children Jacqueline (Stewart), Elizabeth (Elliott), Patricia (Allan) (Jones), Raymond (Sue), Sharon (David) (Eagles) Susan and Gary, Trudy (Jack) (Blake). He was predeceased by daughter Yvonne (Hopkins) in 1995. Benny, also affectionately known as "grouch," had 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was also Godfather to Elizabeth LeBlanc. Benny worked for Wilson Tugboats and Canadian Coast Guard boat Walter E. Foster retiring in 1984. After retiring some of Benny's fondest times were spent shopping and the family wishes to thank the employees of Sobey's and Shoppers North for their kindness. The family also wishes to express their thanks to the extended family and friends on Metcalf St. for all their kindness to Grouch. There are no words that could express how much Benny was loved or how much he will be missed. Thank-you God for giving us Benny if only for a short while. She was born at Keelerville, ON, daughter of the late Charles and Etta (Ubdegrove) Burtch. Ethel was a Deacon at the St. Martins Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Women's Guild and Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by one daughter Brenda Bouck (Larry Williams), Riverview; one son Eric Osborne (Lorna), St. Martins; three grandchildren Sammy Osborne, Joshua Williams and Emilie Williams; one brother Clifford Burtch (Wilma), Battersea, ON; three sisters Dorothy Serson, Seeley's Bay, ON, Priscilla (Pat) Boulton, Battersea, ON, Edith Eckstien of Norwalk, California; several nieces and nephews.
