LATOUR, RANSOM W., 51, of Webster Avenue, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many, died Thursday at home. Born in Westfield, Massachusetts, a son of the late Ransom W. and Elizabeth (Haney) Latour, Sr., he had lived in Smithfield for many years, then Chepachet, before moving to Providence two years ago. Mr. Latour was an insurance account manager for the Lawrence A. Natale & Company Insurance Agency for the past several years, and had also worked for the Metropolitan Insurance Company.He was a 1975 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he majored in Economics, and a communicant of Saint Eugene Church. He was an avid golfer, loved politics and sports, and was passionate about Winston Churchill and The Civil War. He was a life-long Democrat.He leaves a step-son, Michael P. Clancy, Jr., of Smithfield, four sisters, Mary Butler, of Spokane, Washington, Elizabeth Walters, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jane Latour, of New York, New York, Susan Morin, of Agawam, Massachusetts, and five nephews.The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:45 a.m., from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Eugene Church, Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Visiting hours Sunday 5-8 pm. Keeseville — Elizabeth "Betty" Galarneau, 80, of Grove Street, Keeseville, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.She was born in Schenectady, May 10, 1925, the daughter of Nelson E. and Kitty M. (Winkler) Baldwin.She graduated from high school in Schenectady.Elizabeth was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She will be remembered as a giving person, always doing for those in need, especially children. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling and working with crafts.Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Clayton V. Galarneau, whom she married August 31, 1945, in Schenectady; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary G. and Karen A. Galarneau of Keeseville and Gerald A. and Marty Galarneau of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie M. and Douglas J. Rule of Milton, Pa.; three granddaughters, Lynn and Shannon Galarneau and Kristen Mousseau; one grandson, Tyler Rule; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Donations in her memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

Emalene Lines Mulleneaux, 82, left us on the morning of June 24, 2005, for a long-awaited reunion with loved ones in Heaven. Emalene was born February 9, 1923 in Pima, Arizona. She and her family moved to Phoenix in 1956 where she lived until moving to Mesa in 1999. She is survived by her children Jerry Neil and wife Veronica; Sheryl Anne and husband Ray, Susan Eileen and husband Roger and Michael Glen and wife Tess; grandchildren Sheryl Eileen; David Edward, Shannon and husband Ken, Steven, Erin and husband Scott, Ginger, Allie and husband Jason, Tonya, Michael Neil, Jeremy and wife Sarah, Jeffery and wife Mandy, Jamie Michelle and Michael Glen II; great-grandchildren Sierra, Acie, Jimi Renae, Kennedy, David, Tyler, Alicia, Neil, Kenny, Kole, Klayton, Konner, Kassidy, Miranda, Chase, McKenna, Caya, Wyatt and Zane. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at the LDS Lehi building located at the northeast corner of Horne and Lehi Road in Mesa. Roland A. Melanson, age 58, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, in Hardyston Township, N.J., due to injuries sustained in an airplane accident. Mr. Melanson was born in Bridgeport and formerly resided in Thompson and Norwalk, before moving to Wantage Township 11 years ago. Mr. Melanson was product manager for Stryker Corp., Mahwah, N.J. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BA Degree in Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology as well as a BS Degree in Nursing. Mr. Melanson was a member of the International Honor Society of Nursing-Sigma Theta Tau. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Monica7s Roman Catholic Church in Sussex and a member of the Airline Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Mr. Melanson was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran. He is survived by his wife, Leslie (Miller) Melanson; a daughter, Kate Melanson, of Bridgeport; a son, Scott Melanson; and a brother, Michael P. Melanson, of Woodmont. Funeral arrangements are by Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ. Lucrecia Marie Montz Pollet, age 98, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 in North Carolina. She formerly resided in Destrehan, LA but for the past four years she lived at 125 Oak Grove Ave. in Lewisville, North Carolina 28023 with her niece and nephew, Carol and Larry Sowers. She was born February 11, 1907 in Lions, LA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph Albert Pollet; and her parents, Franklin and Elizabeth Cambre Montz. She is survived by 2 sisters, Agnes Lousteau and Grace St. Pierre; 2 brothers, Guy Montz and Lester and wife Elsie Montz; and a host of nieces and nephews. She worked in the St. Charles Borromeo School Cafeteria when it first opened for over 11 years and retired in 1975. She was a recipient of the ''Order of St. Louis Medallion in 1987''. Mrs. Paquette worked as a spinner for many years at the former Hale Manufacturing. She is survived by four brothers, Leonard Simonds of New York, NY, William Simonds, Edward "Tarzan" Simonds, both of FL and Albert Simonds of Plainfield; two sisters, Mildred Stawarz of Moosup and Mae Barr of Oneco and many nieces and nephews. LAMPOLE, A. Frederick December 18, 1911 - June 24, 2005 It is with deep sadness and peaceful acceptance that the family of Fred Lampole announce his passing on June 24 at the age of 93. A gentle man in every sense of the word, Fred's strength, wisdom, humour and grace ensure that he will be forever missed, especially by Reta, his wife of 61 years and their 3 sons, Brian (Vicky) of Toronto, Larry (Karen) of Kanata and Bill (Cathy) of Newmarket. He also leaves his 2 dear grandsons, Jeff and David. He was predeceased by his brother Wilfred and his sisters Alma, Agnes and Lillian. Fred believed inthe value of hard work and always went that extra mile for both his family and community. A cabinet maker by trade, he was a long time Plant Superintendent at Canadian Public Booth and at an age when most people were retired, he took on a similar role at the new Neonex plant manufacturing travel trailers. Elected several terms to the Arnprior Town Council, he also served as Arnprior's Deputy Reeve and Member of Renfrew County Council (1940's and 1950's). He was elected to the Public School Board in the 1950's and 1960's. Fred was a long standing member of the Masonic Order and was a Shriner for over 54 years. Following retirement, Fred kept very busy repairing furniture and continued sharpening skates. Three generations of hockey players and figure skaters will remember him well. Over the past 6 years, he was well known at The Grove Nursing Home where he was a regular visitor to Mom, at first daily, then less frequently as age caught up to him. Fred always wanted "to wear out rather than rust out". Other than having to slow down somewhat in the last few years, his wish was achieved. His truly was a life well-lived. ASSELIN, HAZEL F. (BRAYTON), 91, a long time resident of Coventry, died Friday, June 24th at home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Albert J. Asselin.Born in Cornish, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Matilda (Simpson) and the late Arthur W. Brayton.She worked as a lace mender for the Linwod Lace Company of Coventry for 12 years before retiring in 1945 due to illness.A deeply spiritual woman, she served as President of Kings Daughters at the Methodist church in Washington; she was also a Sunday school teacher, President of the World Wide Guild and Secretary for the Mt; Vernon Church.She was a member of Knotty Oak Baptist Church for over 50 years. Nurturing defined her personality. As a young adult, she raised her 11 year old sister after the death of their mother; before she began her own family, she provided shelter for young women in need. She was also foster mother to the late Sue Sheridan for 51 years. She enjoyed homemaking, excelling in sewing, cooking, crocheting and other domestic arts.She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn E. Asselin, also of Coventry, a sister Dorothy Macreading of Warwick, and a half-sister, Nancy DeCesare of New Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews.Family members are invited to call Monday from 12:30 PM at the Gorton Funeral Home, 721 Washington Street, Coventry. SACO - Ann E. (Pennell) Provencal of Garfield Street, Saco, died June 20, 2005 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Ann was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Bath, the daughter of Joseph D. Pennell Sr. and Gertrude E. (Galloupe) Pennell. Most of Ann's elementary education was acquired through the Old Orchard Beach school system, graduating from high school in 1951. She was particularly active in dramatics, glee club and choir. Subsequently to receiving her diploma, Ann was employed by New England Telephone, retiring from active service in 1981. During most of her those years, she was an office supervisor in the commercial department of Portland, Lewiston, Boston and Biddeford. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In 1969, Ann became the first woman to serve on a board of selectman or councilman for the town of Old Orchard Beach, since it was incorporated in 1883. She was elected as a councilman-at-large with a leading vote of 543.Survivors include her brother, Joseph D. Pennell and wife, Lenore of Dedham, Mass.; her sister, Patricia E. Plante and husband, Jerome of Old Orchard Beach; Several nieces and nephews, including Suzanne C. Pennell of Dedham, MA., Scott D. Plante of Brookline Mass., Andrea E. Perrone and husband, Michael, Dean A. Plante and wife, Tracy of Old Orchard Beach, and Lisa Buchman and husband, Michael of Glens Falls, N.Y. Ann's last words expressed were how much she loved her grandnieces and grandnephews, namely Vanessa, Michael, Dean, Cody and Santino Perone, Haley, Brianna and Shani Plante, and Derek Bushman.At Ann's request there will be no showing. "She thought it had gone long enough without having a woman on board."Mrs. Provencal was remembered last week as an independent, community-minded woman who believed strongly in civil rights and diversity.She was born Ann Pennell, the daughter of a police officer in Bath.During World War II, her father got a job at the South Portland shipyards, and the family moved to Old Orchard Beach. Her younger sister, Patricia Plante, recalled that the family lived right next to the ocean.Periodically during the war, there were blackouts, when oceanside families were asked to turn their lights off and pull dark shades so that no lights were visible from the sea.In 1951, Mrs. Provencal graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, where she was active in choir, glee club and dramatics.At that time, her brother-in-law said, there were few job opportunities for women. One could become a nurse or a teacher. Mrs. Provencal exercised a third option, which was to go to work for New England Telephone.Mrs. Provencal worked for the phone company for 30 years. She rose through the ranks, becoming a supervisor in the commercial department.Over the years, she worked in Portland, Lewiston, Boston and Biddeford.An avid reader of mystery novels, she was also active in Democratic Party politics. In 1960, she served as a state coordinator for Sen. John F. Kennedy's presidential campaign, and she represented York County on the Maine State Democratic Committee.In the late 1960s, she decided to run for the all-male Town Council in her hometown."She felt you should get involved," her sister said. "You shouldn't sit at home. You should do it."Mrs. Provencal was married in 1972. Her husband, Robert, died two years ago.For the last 14 years, she lived in Saco, where she had the opportunity to spend more time with her nieces and nephews, along with their children.She would often come over to her sister's house in Old Orchard Beach when her young relatives were visiting."She'd come down and help me. Our little nursery, we called it," Patricia Plante said.Mrs. Provencal's last words were about how much she loved her grandnephews and grandnieces, her brother-in-law said.

Chris Louis Blanchard, 47, died at 7 p.m. Thursday evening, June 23, 2005, along with his daughter, Colby Taylor Blanchard, as a result of an airplane accident in New Roads. He was an accomplished CPA and business manager for Southern Eye Associates in Jonesboro, Ark. He was born on March 30, 1958, in Crowley, was a former resident of Rayne and a resident of Jonesboro. Visitation at St. Joseph Cathedral on Monday, June 27, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Carencro, near Lafayette, at 1:30 p.m. He will be buried next to his daughter, Colby, and brother, Mike. He is survived by his mother, Sylvia H. Blanchard, Baton Rouge; father, Carl Blanchard, Lafayette; stepfather, Jim Johnson, New Roads; stepsons, Evan Engels, Jonesboro, and Hugh Engels, Zachary; brother and sister-in-law, Mark J. and Malaura Blanchard; nieces, Kathleen Guarisco, Victoria and Tara Blanchard; nephew, Zach Blanchard; and his grandmother, Agatha Hanks. He will also be missed by scores of relatives and friends who enjoyed his dry wit and warm compassion. He departs this earth with his beloved daughter, Colby, and was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Oday Hanks, formerly of Duson; paternal grandmother, Agnes Blanchard, formerly of Rayne; and his brother, Mike. Chris was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Acadia Parish and the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. Professionally, he was involved on a national level with the advancement of the medical administrative professional association. He was a beloved boss and spoke nationally on a regular basis. He was active in the Rotary Club and was a Boy Scout leader. Chris was widely known for his Boston Butt barbecue specialties. He was an avid world traveler, scuba diver and duck hunter. Despite his accomplishments, Chris considered his most important job was that of being a father. From Boy Scout meetings to dance classes, he was there. Paul Andrew Breton, a retired Reading policeman, died June 16 in his residence in Orem, Utah.Breton, 89, formerly of Reading, was predeceased by his wife, Freda Breton, on Nov. 8, 1997.Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Jacob and Maria (Petro) Breton.He was a member of the Reading Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1967.Breton was later employed by the City of Reading until moving to Orem in 1974. While in Utah, he worked for seven years in the maintenance department of Brigham Young University, Provo, retiring in 1981.He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Orem, where he and his wife worked in the name-extraction program for many years.Breton was an Army veteran of World War II.Surviving are five daughters: Susan Ileen (Breton) Byers, American Fork, Utah; Teri (Breton) Smith, Provo; Paula Dee (Breton) Sayer and Nanette (Breton) Merrill, both of Alpine, Utah; and Michelle (Breton) Stewart, Las Vegas.There are also 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.Services were June 21 in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home's Canyon View 7th Ward Chapel, Orem. FOURNIER, CAPTAIN PAUL R.-- Captain Paul R. Fournier, US Navy, Retired, died May 10, 2005 at his home in Coronado of a heart attack. He was born August 8, 1932, in Lowell, MA, the son of Arthur L. and Lucy M. Fournier. Paul graduated from Keith Academy in Lowell, enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and graduated from the US Naval Academy with the Class of 1956. He retired from the Navy in 1981. His last three duty stations were in San Diego with COMCRUDESGRU 3, COMNAVSURFPAC, and as Chief Staff Officer of NTC. After his retirement from the Navy, Paul studied for a teaching credential at USD. He taught math at St Augustine High School, San Diego, for 15 years, retiring in 1998. After this second retirement, Paul volunteered to teach eighth grade algebra at Sacred Heart School in Coronado for several years. Paul was an active member of the USNA Class of '56 West, POETS and Unconcerned Citizens. He loved playing golf with his classmates, sons and friends. Paul is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 45 years; daughter, Elizabeth Skelly, her husband Sean and son Michael of Waipahu, HI; daughter, Michele Fournier of San Diego; son, Paul Fournier, Jr., wife Julie and son Elliott of San Diego; son, Joseph Fournier, wife Staci and sons, William, Nicholas and Alexander of Singapore. His children and grandsons were his pride and joy. Paul is also survived by two sisters, Claire Bureau of Lowell, MA. and Lorraine Asselin of Dracut, MA, and brother, Roger L. Fournier of Lowell, MA., as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coronado on May 14, 2005. Jerome Herbert Peleaux Praise the Lord! Jerome, age 80, celebrated his homegoing on Monday, June 20, 2005. Jerry was born on August 7, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan and grew up in Mound, Minnesota. He served in the Army during World War II and graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1949. He worked for General Motors for 30 years, eventually serving as National Coordinator of the Mr. Goodwrench Program. Even after retiring in 1980, he continued to enjoy making appearances as The Original Mr. Goodwrench. Jerry used his many gifts to live life fully, touching many others in the process. An avid student of Scripture, he enthusiastically taught Bible Study classes. As a craftsman, he gave an artistic touch to every project he tackled, from home remodeling to woodworking, pottery and nature photography. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick and wife, Nancy. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Grace; 5 children; 3 stepchildren and 18 grandchildren. Services were held at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet, California on Saturday, June 25, 2005 and will be held at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Walker, Minnesota on Tuesday, June 28, 2005. CHARPENTIER, CORNELIA 'CONNIE', age 83, of Whitman St., a retired food service worker, died Friday at Roger Williams Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Edmond L. Charpentier. Born in Belen, NM, a daughter of the late Tomas and Eduvigen (Garcia) Sanchez, she had lived in Coventry for 55 years.She worked for the State of Rhode Island in the cafeteria at the Boys Training School, Cranston, for over 20 years before retiring in 1986. She previously had worked at F.W. Woolworth Store in Garden City and at Sears in the Midland Mall, Warwick.She was the beloved mother of Dolores Engell Roupas of Holden Beach, NC, Colleen 'Sandy' Bruns of Coventry, Tomas Charpentier of Coventry and the late Barbara Ann Pelletier. Survived also by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her loving companion Robert N. Perry of Warwick. TEWKSBURY -- Mary Geraldine (McGee-Laliberte) Thomas, 85, died Friday, June 24, at Tewksbury Hospital after a lengthy period illness. She was the wife of Harold J. "Bud" Thomas, who died in 1999.She was born in New York, May 18, 1920, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Stowell) McGee. She lived most of her life in Lowell and Tewksbury, where graduated from Lowell High School, and later graduated from Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing. She also lived in Dayton, Ohio for 10 years.Mrs. Thomas worked as a nurse and later as nursing supervisor at Tewksbury Hospital. She also worked as an orthopedic nurse in Ohio. She was a communicant of St. William Church in Tewksbury.She was active at the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, and was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene "Gene" and Denise (Dykeman) Laliberte of Plaistow, N.H., and Joseph and Carol (MacDonald) Laliberte of Tewksbury; four grandchildren, Michael, Gene, Nichole and Ashley Laliberte; a brother, Francis McGee; and many nieces and nephews.She was also sister of the late Theresa Gillette, Anna Quinton, John, Robert and James McGee. Until her period of declining health Ms. Irene was a very active, independent woman who lived on her own until she experienced her health problems. Ms. Bischoff was a beloved sister and aunt. Her relatives, neighbors, and friends will always remember her as being sincere, cheerful, and helpful. She had great faith and we know that she is enjoying eternal happiness now in the presence of God.She is survived by her brother, Arthur J. Mildred Florence Bell (née Colling) July 17, 1924 - June 25, 2005 At The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington Mildred slipped away, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, June 25, 2005. The daughter of Florence and Melford Colling, she leaves her devoted husband Fred and daughters Marylynne and Lori, granddaughters Carmen and Morgan and great-grandchildren Tyler and Kaitlynne. Predeceased by her oldest brother Lloyd, Mildred is mourned by brothers Melvin, Ross and Earl and their families and by sister-in-law Maryon Brechin. A lifelong resident of Nelson Township who loved dancing and cards, she will be sadly missed by the many friends made through her activities with volunteer and community associations, especially the Nelson Branch of the Women's Institute and Nelson United Church. Her family offers sincere thanks to Dr. Wallick, the caregivers at The Carpenter Hospice and staff at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they provided.
