ITHACA - Agnes LaFrance, 99, a resident of Lakeside Nursing Home, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at the nursing home. She was born in Scotland, daughter of the late James and Mary McDonald. She was the widow of David A. Brumfield and Jack LaFrance.Agnes and her family came to the United States in 1911, first settling in Bronxville and then New Rochelle. Prior to coming to Ithaca in 1998, she had lived in Bucks County, PA, and Port St. Lucie, FL. She resided at Longview when she first arrived in Ithaca.Agnes is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Brumfield; her grandson, David (Michelle) Brumfield; and her great-grandchildren, Connor and Jessica Brumfield. In addition to her husbands, Agnes was also predeceased by her son, Bruce Brumfield; her sisters, Ina Kershow, Anne Kohler, and Marjorie Shaw; and her brothers, Alex and Jack McDonald.A memorial service will be celebrated by Rev. Kristin Sundt on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be held in New Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, donations in Agnes' memory may be made to the Deacon's Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 315 N. Cayuga St., Ithaca, NY 14850. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.

Trombly, Irene C. -- May 24, 2005 Irene C. Trombly, 93, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the Jewish Home. She resided in the Syracuse area for the past 15 years. Formerly of Plattsburgh, she received her bachelor's degree from Plattsburgh State University. A career educator, she taught on Long Island and for over 20 years she taught special education in the Plattsburgh City School District. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A., who died in 1990. Surviving: one son, Gregory D. (Carolyn) of Baldwinsville; a granddaughter, Bethany of CA. Services: private. VALATIE, NY -- Louise R. Ouellette, 77, of Valatie Woods, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at her residence. Born in Lewiston, Maine, July 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Blanche (LaRose) St. Pierre. Mrs. Ouellette worked at Barnwell Health Facility in Valatie as an LPN, retiring in 1989. She is survived by two daughters, Aldea Bogarski of Ghent and Lianne Chase of Guilderland, N.Y.; three sons, Richard Ouellette of Stuyvesant, N.Y., Michael Ouellette of Clifton Park, N.Y. and William Ouellette of Wash.; two sisters, Marie Woods of Calif. and Jacqueline Daley of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grand and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, Conrad Ouellette, and brother, Joseph D. St. Pierre, died previously. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Route 9, Valatie, with Rev. KEWASKUM, Wis. - Garfield G. Durocher, 85, formerly of Houghton and Milwaukee, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2005, in Kirkland, Wash. He was born on November 7, 1919, in Hubbell, the son of the late Edmund and Eva (Perrault) Durocher. On October 4, 1952, he was united in marriage to Marie Thull at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Kirkland in 1986. His wife preceded him in death on January 16, 2002.Garfield was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 20 years and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seattle.Survivors include his daughter, Maureen Durocher of Kirkland, Wash.; a sister, Freda Guilbault of Houghton; two brothers, Gordon (Phyllis) Durocher of Colgate and Ben (June) Durocher of Lake Linden; a brother-in-law, Leo (Ann) Thull of Kewaskum; and other relatives and friends.Garfield was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin, Harvey, Floyd and Robert Durocher; three sisters, Irene Durand Hall, Bertha in Infancy, and Doris Hansen; three sisters-in-law, Agnes Wollner, Cecilia Thull and Rose Thull; and a brother-in-law, John Thull.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Christopher "Chris" Brennan Richards September 11, 1981 - May 21, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) RICHARDS, Christopher Brennan "Chris" - 23, Cole Harbour, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 21, 2005, in Fort Providence, N.W.T., as a result of a canoeing accident. Born September 11, 1981 in Halifax, he was a son of Dennis and Genevieve (Brennan) Richards, Cole Harbour. Chris was currently working in the area of natural health promotion in Yellowknife. Chris' zest and appreciation for life was evident in the way he lived his life, being very close with nature and enjoying in its awesome beauty. He participated in a number of retreats and sweat lodge "experiences" in his desire to know his relationship with nature and the earth and the new direction for his life. He excelled in sports and was a qualified tennis instructor. He was a naturally artistic person who enjoyed painting, design, photography, hiking, camping and music. One of his latest accomplishments was teaching himself to play the guitar. This came so naturally to Chris and his gift of music is described by his family and friends as "truly phenomenal". He graduated from Auburn Drive High School in 1999, and then from Dalhousie University in 2004 with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology. Along with his parents, Chris is survived by sister, Jennifer (Brent) Law, Cole Harbour; brother, Adrian, Yellowknife; nephew, Zachary Law; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a very large circle of friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Clyde and Genevieve Brennan; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Sarah Richards. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Chris' family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Charles R. "Charlie" Bernard, 71, of East Hartford, loving husband of Catherine "Cathy" (Cummiskey) Bernard, entered into eternal rest on Monday (May 23, 2005) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Madawaska, ME, a son of the late Charles B. and Cecile (Martin) Bernard, he had resided in East Hartford for the past 44 years. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1953. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #77, East Hartford. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Charlie was employed for 35 years by SNET as an installer and repairman. Charlie and his "high school-sweetheart", Cathy, were members of the East Hartford Square Dance Club where he was a past president. Charlie also enjoyed camping, skiing, playing cards, family gatherings, and doing handy-work for his wife and family members. However, Charlie will be missed by his friends he had coffee with and for his sense of humor that he would share with everyone. Besides his parents, a brother, Martin Bernard, and a sister, Charlene Vannie predeceased Charlie. Daniel R. Cycotte, 78, Palmetto, died May 22, 2005.He was born June 23, 1926, in Decatur, Ill., and came to Palmetto in 1976 from there. He retired after 22 years from the Air Force and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.Survivors include his wife, Betty (Cotner); a daughter, Cathy Deans of Florida; sons Steve of North Carolina, Mark of Virginia, Joseph of Illinois and Tim and Robert, both of Florida; brothers William of Indiana and Jack of Florida; 15 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, with a service to follow, at Mansion Memorial Funeral Home in Ellenton.

Plusieurs carrières marquent le parcours de sa vie. Professeur agrégé, il enseigne la criminologie à l'université de Montréal. En 1976, il joint le cabinet du premier ministre M. René Lévesque qui lui confie d'importants ministères. En 1985, il se retire sur ses terres et il fonde en compagnie de sa famille, le Clos Saint-Denis qui deviendra le fleuron des entreprises de boissons artisanales québécoises, le Pomme de Glace se distinguant ici comme à l'étranger. BENTZ, Jean Pierre In loving memory of Jean Pierre Bentz, born May 13, 1927 and passed away April 25, 2005. JP was born in Angouleme, France. He was active in the French Underground, fighting Nazis in WWII. He spent a decade in India with his father running an Import-Export business, before moving to Quebec, Canada. JP loved the United States, and decided to make California his permanent home. He started a printing business from which he retired after nearly 30 years. He met and married Connie Houser, and they were married for 28 years at the time of his death. Jean Pierre and Connie had a wonderful marriage, and spent lots of time traveling to his native France and elsewhere, visiting friends and family. He became a U.S. Citizen in 1996 and was extremely proud of being an American. He felt very privileged and honored to vote and be an integral part of this country. JP was a great man, loving and energetically positive with a tremendous sense of humor and narrative. Jean Pierre is survived by his wife, Connie Houser Bentz, two stepsons Jim and Jeff Houser, three grandchildren - Kayla, Ian and Erika - and his sister, Helene, who still lives in Angouleme.
