DRACUT -- Joseph L. Martel, 59, a career Army man and resident of Dracut, died Friday, May 20, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Agnes M. "Casey" (Caisse) (Pulsifer) Martel, who died Sept. 26, 2004.Born in Manchester, N.H., on June 26, 1945, he was a son of Albertine M. (Perreault) Martel and the late Lucien M. Martel Sr. He was educated in Manchester schools and graduated from Bradley High School. Irish, 86, a former resident of Schuylerville, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital.Born Nov. 21, 1918, in Morrisville, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Adelaid and Victoria LaPierre Mathieu.Mrs. Irish had worked for many years at Serbu's Cleaners on Broad Street in Schuylerville. Beloved wife of Harold Clarke predeceased 1970. A long time and well like Garson resident, she had been a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church (Garson), actively participating in the church's ministries and fellowship. She had also been a member of the U.C.W. She had been a former member of the Royal Purple Lodge. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her creations are treasured by family and friends. Always quick to help others, she had been a foster mother for several years. Winnifred will be remembered as a "people person" whose light inspired all who knew her. Loving aunt of 15 nieces and nephews as well as many grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Helen (and Tom) Graves of Parry Sound and Hazel (and George) Deans. Agnes worked for many years in The Chateau Laurier and then as an executive secretary at Canada Cement (Lafarge) in Ottawa and Toronto. BUTLAND, FLOSSIE W. - The death of Flossie W. Butland, in her 102nd year, of Kennebec Manor, formerly of St. Martins, widow of William H. Butland occurred May 22, 2005 at the Kennebec Manor. She was born at Port Greville, NS, daughter of the late William and Catherine (Parsons) Rolfe. She cooked at logging camps in Albert County in the 1920's and 1930's and at McKay Forest Products in the 1940's and 1950's. Flossie was a seamstress for many years and owned a bake shop in St. Martins. She also worked at a hunting camp in Lakeview. Flossie was a Past President of L.O.B.A. #1190, St. Martins and Past President of the Ladies Guild at St. Martins Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by four daughters Treva Langstroth of French Village, Marjorie Snow of Saint John, Marlene Whitney (Medley) of St. Martins, Pat Brown (Arthur) of St. Martins; one son William R. Butland of St. Martins; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters Pearl Butland and Helen Jones; two sons Leslie and Rupert Butland; three sisters Pearl Sinclair, Leveria Butland, Beth Edgett; five brothers Roy, Percy, Fred, Melvin and Cecil Rolfe; three granddaughters, one grandson and one great granddaughter. Resting at St. Martins Baptist Church with visiting Monday 7-9pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral will be held Wednesday, 2:00 pm, at St. Martins Baptist Church. He returned briefly to Regina, and then moved to Edmonton where he resided until April of 2005. Aaron and Tierney returned to Regina in May 2005. His free spirit, love of travel and his zest for life earned him many close friendships that he valued so greatly, and he enriched the lives of those he met. Eric maintained an active interest in many things, keeping up on current events. He kept records of his family history, clearly remembering the past. He made new friends when he moved to Regina. Although he slowed down over the last years, he remained alert and in good health until recently he encountered difficulties and declined rapidly before his death. ONTONAGON - Edmond J. "Ed" Tousignant, 73, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005, at his home in Ontonagon with his wife and family at his bedside. Ed was born in Ontonagon, July 19, 1931, to Margaret and Edmond Tousignant. He was the owner and operator of Riverside Marine for 52 years. Ed enjoyed his work and worked hard at it.He attended Ontonagon Schools and graduated in 1949. He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was on the Gitche Gumee Board and belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary for several years.Ed married Sharon Gerzetich on New Year's Eve, 1964.His hobbies were making model airplanes, model rockets and kites and racing his class B stock hydroplane boat in which he won several championship races. He enjoyed snowmobiling and boating with his family in their 24 foot sandpiper. They made trips to Isle Royale, Bayfield, Wis. and around the Upper Peninsula. He and his wife, Sharon, enjoyed hiking the north country trails in the Trap Hills. He had a love for riding his Yamaha jet ski on Lake Superior and made several trips to Houghton with his jet ski boat. Ed was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He went to many Packer games and Superbowl games.He is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sons, Timothy and Craig of Ontonagon; and two daughters, Sheila of Jacksonville, Fla. and Renee of Oshkosh, Wis.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Daniel and Justin and one great-grandchild, Riley; two sisters, Kitty Hubbard of Duxbury, Mass. and Yvonne Seaman of LaCanada, Calif.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack; a sister, Mary; and an infant son, Scott.Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, at the Cane Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Morel Michaud Au Manoir Borderview de Van Buren, Maine, le lundi 23 mai 2005, à l’âge de 85 ans, est décédé Morel Michaud, époux de feu Joan Corbin, domicilié au Manoir Borderview, mais autrefois de Limestone, Maine. Né à Saint-Léonard-Parent en 1919, il était fils de feu Edmond Michaud et de feu Hattie Beaulieu. Il laisse dans le deuil un fils, Gilles Michaud de Limestone, Maine, deux filles, Francine Johnston (Charles) de Fenton, Michigan et Denise Gagnon (Carl) de Fort Fairfield, Maine, un petit-fils, quatre petite-filles, deux arrière-petites-filles, un frère, Roland de Van Buren, trois soeurs, Lucille Beaulieu et Rita Marcotte de Saint-Placide, Québec et Thérèse Michaud de Bellefeuille, Québec, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. He moved to the United States 42 years later and worked for local farmers and processing plants. He is survived by son, Gilles Michaud of Limestone; two daughters, Denise Gagnon (Carl) of Fort Fairfield and Francine Johnston (Charles) of Fenton, Mich.; one grandson; four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Roland, of Van Buren; three sisters, Lucille Beaulieu and Rita Marcotte of Saint-Placide, Quebec and Therese Michaud of Bellefeuille, Quebec; several nieces and nephews. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. His funeral will be Thursday, May 26th at 4:30 p.m. from the St-Leonard-Parent Roman Catholic Church. www.oregans.ca

ROY, WILLIAM (AGE 82) -- On May 14, 2005 of Alexandria, VA. Beloved husband of Sarah A. Roy for 58 years; adoring father of May R. Davis and father-in-law of Jim Davis of Alexandria; loving brother of Jean Henderson of Abernethy, Scotland. He was preceded in death by one son William A. Roy and three brothers John, Dave and Jim Roy. He will be sorely missed by a host of relatives, as well as many friends. Mr. Roy was a native of Scotland and served in the Royal Navy during World War II. He was employed by United Airlines from 1952 to 1981. LOWELL -- Roger J Godfroy, 78, resident of Lowell and a veteran of World War II, died unexpectedly Friday, May 20, at his home.He was born in Lowell on Nov. 28, 1926, son of the late Wilfred and Doria (Roy) Godfroy.During World War II, Mr. Godfroy served in the Navy aboard the USS Alaska.Before retiring, he was employed by the city of Lowell in the Water Department.He was a member of the Lowell Veterans of Foreign Wars Walker Rogers Post 662 and also enjoyed fishing.His survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Dolores Callahan, Suzanne and George Minnick, all of Glen Burnie, Md., Michelle and Walter Callahan of Lowell, and Nathalie Godfroy of Quebec; a sister, Doris Jacques of Lowell; 10 grandchildren, Bridget Callahan, Caitlin Callahan-Robertson, Jaime Minnick, Jeff Minnick, Beth Godfroy, Andrew Godfroy, Shannon Callahan, Patrick Callahan, Bryan Callahan and Sean Callahan; many nieces and nephews; and a longtime companion, Virginia Pieslak.He was also the father of the late Paul R. and David R. Godfroy; brother of the late, Roland, Valdore "Ted," Rosaire and Raoul Godfroy, Rita Auger, Rolande Hobbs and Rejeanne Fleury; and father-in-law of the late Mike Callahan.
