GREER, LAURA PEARL - Laura Pearl Greer of Woodstock passed away at Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock on Monday, May 16, 2005, at the age of 85. Laura is survived by five sons, Howard Greer of Woodstock; Vaughn Greer (Maria) of Jacksontown; Leonard Greer of Jacksonville; David Greer (Hope) of Jacksonville; Keith Greer of Woodstock; six daughters, Brenda Hayes (Warren) of Woodstock, Rhonda Miller (Lloyd) of Hartland, Bernadean Dickinson (Neil) of Wilmot; Mary MacDonald (Tom) of Calais, Maine, Lana Crocco (Peter) of Woodstock, and Debra McCain (Andrew) of Woodstock; three brothers, Paul Ketch; Arthur Ketch and James Ketch; three sisters, Ruth Elliott; Janet Alexander and Marina Dickinson; 29 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Laura was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Alberta (Peterson) Ketch; her husband Lawrence Greer; a daughter Barbara and grandson Brian Hathaway; two sons, Larry and Tony Greer. ROCHESTER— Carol Sue Belanger, S.F.O., 55, of 616 Portland Street, Rochester, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.She was born in Exeter on May 13, 1950, the daughter of Sanford Meekins, Sr. and Alice Waldron. She had lived in the Exeter area, prior to moving to Rochester approximately 15 years ago. She worked as an operating room technician at Exeter Hospital for more than 15 years, prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, being involved in the prayer group for many years. In 2001, she joined the Secular Order of Franciscans. She was a sponsor of a child, Shanna, in Jamaica through the Christian Foundation for Children and the Aging.Surviving family members include her children, Josh A. Belanger and Cindy Belanger, both of Rochester; a sister, Betty Randlett of Exeter; an aunt, Lois A. Nelson of Exeter; a cousin, Jackie Emerson and her husband, George; a nephew and cousins. NASHUA -- Maria L. (Mercier) Roy Faucher, 94, a resident of Nashua, died Saturday, May 14, at Courville Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Leo D. Roy and Henry E. Faucher.She was born in Lowell, on July 28, 1910, daughter of the late Joseph O. and Anna (Laverdiere) Mercier. She had been a longtime resident of Nashua.Before retiring, Mrs. Faucher was employed by N.H. LEVINE, SIMON - 1911-2005. Simon Levine, 93, of Saint John, husband of the late Katherine (Glustein) Levine, passed away on May 15, 2005 at his home after a long illness. Born on December 19, 1911 in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Levine. Simon resided in Saint John for the past 90 years. He started his own grocery business in 1931, Dominion Food Shop and later changed it to Simon's Furniture on Union Street. He always had a smile for his many long standing customers and friends. Simon was a member of congregation Shaarei-Zedek and a member of the New Brunswick Masonic Lodge #2. He received his "50 year" pin some years ago. He was a world traveler and an avid gardener, and won many prizes for his roses and dahlias. His charismatic story telling and sense of humor were well known by so many friends in his beloved Saint John. Simon was a frequent supporter of many charitable organizations. He donated to the Empty Stocking Fund by cutting the trees himself, and selling them for Christmas. He also ran for city council. Simon is survived by his sister, Lillian Kashesky (Hymie); his daughter, Lorraine Zides (Milton) of Ottawa, ON; his sons: Leonard and David Levine of Ottawa, ON; his grandchildren: Heidi Zides of Toronto, Cheryl Dover (John) of Ottawa, Colin Zides (Andrea) of Font Hill and Andrea Zides of Toronto; great grandchildren; Shawna Picov, Michelle Picov, Saunya Dover, Milton Dover, Carter Zides and Sydney Zides, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Simon was predeceased by his sisters: Nelly Haslett (Roy), Bessie Cohen (Myer); his brothers: Abe Levine (Margaret), Issac Levine (Lillian) and Nathen Levine (Ruth). BARTLEY, Leslie Paul, Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 15, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer in his 52nd year, with his loving wife of 28 years, Glora (nee Rode), his daughter Laura, and son Matt and his fiancee Erica Wylie by his side. Son of William Bartley (deceased) and Margery Whisler (Leon), brother of Bill (deceased), Cathy McCaffery (Dave Carter), Karen Mooy (Ed), Tom, Marilyn Lambert (Jim) and Don (Anna Calbury). Les was a caring son-in-law of Art and Gwen, brothe r-in-law of Dave and Sherron, and Dianne Rode. He also has many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Les retired from General Motors in October 2004 with 30 years of dedicated service. He was a Union Representative for most of his career and a member of the CAW Local 199 Executive Board. Les's family was his top priority but his passion was for the game of lacrosse. He was heavily involved at the professional, minor and grass root levels. As a professional coach, Les led his team to 7 c hampionships (Buffalo Bandits, 3; Toronto Rock, 4) in 12 seasons. He also coached Team Canada to the Inaugural World Championship in 2003. Through his coaching accomplishments the NLL has renamed the annual coaching award to bear his name. During his illness, Les lead Team Canada to a Heritage Cup victory and was appointed vice-president and alternate governor of the Toronto Rock. His negotiating skills were integral to the establishment of a new collective bargaining agreement and he was honour ed with the NLL Executive of the Year award for 2004. Les's illness also allowed him to focus efforts on other important causes. Les became involved with Lisa's beads and in conjunction with the NLL and fan support Les's Initiative Fund was establish ed. Currently, the initiative has raised approximately $40,000 for cancer research. As Les requested, cremation has taken place and a private funeral has been held. Donations to Well Spring Niagara or Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary would be appreciated by the family. BOURGUIGNON -- Louis Jr., born May 26, 1951, in Socorro, NM, passed away on May 13, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis, and brother, Anthony. He is survived by his mother, Vivian, and step-father, Arcino Sanchez; daughter Julie and husband, Mark Parras; grandchildren: Julianna, Reyna, and Marisol Viviana; brothers: Phillip and wife Cheri, George and wife Carmen; sisters: Sandra Serna and husband Reynold, Marie "Peanuts" Sullivan, and husband William; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Louis attended Rio Grande High School and was a graduate of Cypress Community College. After graduation he worked as a counselor for the Orange County Youth Facility. His last years were spent mining with his father in Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico. He was a veteran serving in the National Guard and the Army. LACONIA — Irene J. (Brunelle) Dargy, 87, of 25 Union Ave., died early Monday morning, May 16, 2005, at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia after a brief illness.She was the widow of Philippe E. Dargy, who died Feb. 25, 1998.She was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Laconia, the daughter of the late Ernest and Nellie (Boisjoli) Brunelle. She attended local schools and graduated from Laconia High School, Class of 1936.Survivors include three sons, Richard Dargy and his wife, Lorraine, Roger Dargy and his wife, Diane, all of Laconia, and Micheal R. Dargy, of Gilford; seven granddaughters, Naomi, Michele, Nicole, Tracy, Amy, Jenna and Amanda.; six great-grandsons, Staff Sgt. Benjamin Emery who is currently stationed in Iraq, Aaron, Peter, Nicholas, Steven and Max; three great-granddaughters, Meredith, Jaimee and Brooke; one great-great-granddaughter, Taylor; one nephew and two nieces.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Brunelle. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, from 7-9 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia. DAVIGNON, SR. LILLIAN, P.F.M., 89, of Baie St. Paul, Quebec, Canada, formerly of Central Falls died May 6, 2005 at the Infirmary of the Little Franciscans of Mary. Born in Central Falls, daughter of the late Raynald Davignon and Aurore Masse, she was professed in 1939. DRACUT -- Lorraine Marie (Guilmette) Berube, 77, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Sunday morning, May 15, at her home following a brief illness. She was the wife of Eugene R. Berube, who died in 1989.She was born in Lowell, on March 15, 1928, daughter of the late William and Bertha (Paquin) Guilmette. She attended Dracut schools.Before retiring, Mrs. Berube had been employed for more than 35 years at Wellwoods on Bridge Street in Lowell, and most recently by Ames Department Store, formerly on Church Street in Lowell.She was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut, and enjoyed going to the movies.Her survivors include a daughter, Cynthia M. McLaughlin and her fiancé, Robert Belanger both of Pelham; a son, David P. CHELMSFORD -- Laurie Ann (Guimond) Gilman, 38, a resident of North Chelmsford, died Sunday, May 15, at Lowell General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of Kenneth E. Gilman Jr., to whom she was married for 14 years.She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on July 7, 1966, daughter of Gabrielle (Guill) Coolong of Chelmsford and the late David Guimond. She graduated from the Greater Lowell Technical High School in 1984, and the Greater Lowell Technical Nursing School in 1985.Mrs. Gilman worked as a manager at Acton Podiatry of Acton.She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.Mrs. Gilman was the president of the American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants.Besides her husband and mother, survivors include a son, Kyle J. Gilman of North Chelmsford; two brothers, Paul and Adam Coolong, both of Lowell; a sister, Angie Guimond of Minnesota; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Denise and John "Don" Gilbride of Dunstable; her mother in-law, Pauline (Chouinard) Ferreria of Chelmsford; and many nieces and nephews.She was also the sister of Michael Guimond, who died last August. She worked for Doeskin Paper Mills & Romar Tissue where she was President of the local union. Dorothy later worked for Monson Developmental Center before she retired. She was born in Danielson, April 21, 1919, daughter of the late Phelias and Georgianna (Bessette) Poirier. She was married to the late Arthur A. Filteau at St. James Church on June 22, 1940. He died October 5, 1978. Mrs. Filteau was a graduate of St. James School and a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson. She is survived by her son, Robert A. George A. Vanasse, Sr., 72, of Davol St. Fall River, died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Sheila I. (Daley) Vanasse of Fall River. They were married for 19 years. Born on November 1, 1932, in Fall River, he was a son of the late Roland and Edith (Atterbury) Vanasse.He was raised in Fall River, and resided in Swansea for many years. He also lived in Sharon and Somerset for several years. Mr. Vanasse was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a baker throughout his life. In his early years he worked for his late father. He later worked for the Vienna Baking Company in Barrington, RI, for many years, and also at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River for 11 years, before his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked for several years at Auclair's Market on County St. in Somerset.He was a member of the Church of Our Savior in Somerset for many years. He was the Past President of the Somerset Lions Club. He was very active with the lions for many years. He was a member of the Swansea American Legion Post # 303. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at various area golf courses.In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, George Vanasse Jr., of Fall River, three daughters, Deborah MacKenzie, Lori Ashley, and Lou-Ann Vanasse, all of Swansea. He was the father of the late Donna Vanasse. He is also survived by his step-children, Jeffery Cartier, of Greeneville, RI, and Mary-Lou Cartier, of Fall River, his former wife, Beverly (Read) Foran, of Swansea, a sister, Marjorie Williams, of Somerset, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. BEATRICE J. THERIOT, a resident of Pearland for 75 years, was called home by her Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 10, 1920 in Houston to the late Ruppert Oscar and Dora Muller Wood. Beatrice was the Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Pearland High School (1938). She was also elected by the student body to be the first May Queen (Homecoming Queen) of Pearland High School. Beatrice (Bea) also lettered in Volleyball and Tennis in 1937 - 1938. She later graduated from Durham's Business College in 1942 and was immediately hired by Swift and Company. Bea was a pioneer among women. At the time of her employment there were few women in the workplace. Bea's hobbies in her younger years included golf, softball and tennis. In her later years, she enjoyed ranching, fishing, bird watching and having fun with her grandchildren, which were the highlights of her life. Bea is preceded in death by her older sister, Dorothy Wood Liere and is survived by a loving family; her husband of 53 years, Melvin J. Theriot; three children, Melvin J. Theriot, Jr. and wife, Donna Collins Theriot; Debbie Anna Theriot Harris and husband, David Harris; and Linda Lee Theriot Cessac and husband, Phil Cessac; seven precious grandchildren, Anna Kristina Harris, Deidrea Dee Harris, Amber Elizabeth Harris, Melvin James Theriot, III; Amanda Lynn Theriot, James Dupree Cessac and Morgan Lee Cessac; two sisters, Virgle Wood Hawk and Hattie Mae Wood; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. LAVIGNE, Armand A., 88, of New Port Richey, died May 15, 2005, at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. He was born in Manchester, N.H., and came here 10 years ago from West Hartford, Conn. He was an inspector for United Air Craft in East Harford, Conn., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, New Port Richey, St. Bridget's Catholic Church, West Hartford, Conn., Knights of Columbus, Council 11680, New Port Richey, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Hartford, Conn. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence W.; son, Gary A. of West Hartford, Conn.; sister, Doris Fibkins of New Port Richey; four grandchildren, Kristin, Brian, Julia and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. during the visitation time. Rosemary Demarski August 15, 1911 - May 15, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Rosemary on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her beloved husband Edward of 64 years, she leaves to cherish her memory their children Norie (Stan), Gary (Diane), Edward (Carol), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and her brother Edward (Grace) Unger. Mom was born in Winnipeg, met and married dad on July 18, 1931. They raised their family in Winnipeg before moving to B.C. in 1978. They enjoyed many happy fulfilling years at their home in Abbotsford. Mom was an excellent cook and family dinners were her specialty. She enjoyed music, reading, sewing, knitting but her greatest passion was gardening, tending to her flowers and precious roses. In 2001, mom moved back to Winnipeg to live with family, due to failing health she spent the past year at Fred Douglas Lodge. A special thank you to the staff at Fred Douglas for their kind and compassionate care “The special years will not return when we were all together. But with the love within our hearts, You will walk with us forever”. In accordance with Mom’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held. MAHLE, Kenneth Wesley (K-Dog), In his twenty-third year, May 15th, 2005, Ken passed away peacefully at home, into the arms of his predeceased mother, Gloria Mahle and grandfather Wes Cott.
