NATALIYA, GURIN Talented musician, devoted mother, dear friend and teacher, lost her courageous battle with cancer on April 11th, 2005. Nataliya held 3 degrees in music from Kiev University and traveled world-wide as Conductor with the renowned Veryovka Choir. Nataliya Gurin founded Lyrica Choir in 2000 and taught voice, piano and theory at her home studio here in Barrie. Nataliya's absence will be deeply felt by Barrie's musical community, her family, friends and students. Robertson, Eugene Ernest Passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, April 13th, 2005 in his 73rd year with his family by his side. Born in North Sydney, NS on September 3, 1932 he was the son of the late Alvin and Marjorie (Mason) Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Walker) and four children, Heather Boivin, (Jay), Kenneth (Catherine), Keith, (Marlene) and Mary Louise Taylor, (Michael). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Liane, Lindsay, Kaitlin, Tyler, Daniel, Kory, Danielle, Kyle, Kraig, Kole, Brian and David. He is also survived by one brother Donald (Cairine) of Digby, NS. One niece and nephew. Predeceased by brother Ray. Gene was a Past Master of Caledonian Lodge #249, A.F. & A.M., Midland, ON as well as being an active member in York Rite, Scottish Rite, Rameses Temple (Shriners) and The Order of the Eastern Star where he held a number of distinguished titles. (Bilodeau) Flanagan, 92, of 8 Carter St., died Wednesday, April 13, in The Highlands Long Term Care Center, Fitchburg.She was born on Feb. 23, 1913, in Saint Sophie, PQ., Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Laura (Labonte) Bilodeau.. She lived in Clinton for many years with her husband until his death, then she moved to Leominster. Mrs. Flanagan worked in Leominster at Ames’ Butter Store and Robichaud’s Jeweler.She was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Parish for many years. Mrs. Flanagan leaves three sisters, Mrs. Ora Sager of Long Branch, N.J., Mrs. Loretta Grudziecki of Leominster and Mrs. Theresa Smith of Fitchburg; two stepchildren, Mrs. Alice Johnson of Fitchburg and Paul Flanagan of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Robert Dicker, Doris Mitchell and Shelley Chelikhov; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her husband, Lawrence Flanagan, died in 1972. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Roland Bilodeau in 1995 and Wilfred Bilodeau in 2001. FLANAGAN -- On April 13, Cecile M. BIDDEFORD - Lucienne M. Gobeil, 88, of Amherst St., died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Pine Point Nursing Center in Scarborough. She was born Jan.12, 1917 in Biddeford, a daughter of Ludger E. and Lydia Beaupre Binette and was educated at St. Joseph's School in Biddeford.On July 1, 1944, she married Raymond L. Gobeil at St. Joseph's Church, where she was a member. As a young woman, she worked in local shoe shops and later worked for a few years at the Journal Tribune in the advertising department.In her youth, she had enjoyed playing the piano and had been a member of the Child of the Angel and later, the Child of Mary.Mrs. Gobeil was predeceased by her husband, Raymond L. Gobeil, Jan. 29, 1992 and by her granddaughter, Michelle Gobeil, Feb.14, 2005.Surviving are four sons, Roger Gobeil and his wife Therese of Saco, Norman Gobeil and his wife Jo-Ann of Biddeford, Roland Gobeil and his wife Priscille of Biddeford, Donald Gobeil and his wife Lynne of Kennebunk; four sisters, Lauria Gobeil of Biddeford, Therese Paquette of Biddeford, Doris Cote of Limerick, Constance Tremblay of Acton; two brothers, Rene Binette of Saco, Fernand Binette of Biddeford; six grandchildren; three great - grandchildren.Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, at Hope Memorial Chapel. Joseph C. Blanchard , Norfolk -- Joseph Clinton Blanchard, 60, of the 3200 block of Lyons Ave., passed away April 9, 2005, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Norfolk County and retired after 25 years of service from the Navy Public Works Center where he worked as an automotive mechanic. He was predeceased by his mother and father, James and Virginia Blanchard and his sister, Annie Perkins. He is survived by his wife, Stella Blanchard; three children, Joseph, Sheila Annette and Joel Blanchard; seven brothers, James, Sidney, George, Norman, Larry, Johnnie and Dr. Michael Blanchard; four sisters, Ella Louise Hill, Helen Smith, Sheldia Diane Bell, Veronica Godfrey; and a host of other relatives and friends. FITCHBURG -- Roland J. Caron, 84, of 29 King St., died Wednesday, April 13, in The Lahey Clinic, after an illness.He was born on July 10, 1920, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Arthur and Parmilia (Sylvester) Caron.Mr. Caron served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa. During his service, he earned the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was the building commissioner for the city of Fitchburg for 38 years, from 1956 until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Caron was a member of St. Joseph Parish, the Building Commissioners Association, American Legion Post No. 429, where was a past president, the Fitchburg Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus Post No. 99, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.Mr. Caron leaves his wife, Mary (Lapinskas) Caron; two sons, Roland J. Caron of Goffstown, N.H., and Martin J. Joanne L. (DeVaux) Shackford, 62, of Vernon, formerly of Columbia, beloved wife of Clyde E. Shackford, died peacefully Wednesday, (April 13, 2005) surrounded by her family at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Joanne was born February 18, 1943, in Hartford, daughter of the late James Terry and Grace Marie (George) DeVaux and had resided in Columbia for most of her life before moving to Vernon in 1997. Due to her ill health, she retired in 1986 from Manchester Community College, after 13 years as secretary of the Athletic Department. She was a member of the Moose Club, East Hartford and had coached and played for the Columbia Women's Softball League for several years. Besides her husband, Joanne is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Geneva "Ginny" Armata and husband, David and their son, Steven; and Diane Breault and husband, Jeffrey; eight step-children, James Monahan, Michael Shackford and girlfriend, MaryJane, Margaret Getz and husband, Robert, Michelle Soldat and husband, Dale, Thomas (Kelly) White and wife, Cindy; Shawn Shackford , Scott (Chris) Shackford and wife, Melissa; Ronald Shackford and wife, Karen; three brothers, Terry DeVaux and wife, Caroline; Ronald DeVaux and wife, Patricia; David DeVaux and wife, Kathy; a sister, Sandra Wassik and friend, Joan; ( a special thanks to Sandra, from her family for donating a kidney to her sister, Joanne), many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many special friends; a step-brother, Richard Ashner and family and a step-sister, Dottie Sue Ashner, and Joanne's former husband and life-long friend, Donald Wood of North Salem, NY. DAVID JAY DION January 25, 1971 - April 8, 2005 Our beloved Dave is finally at peace. His long and heroic suffering is over; he now enjoys the happiness in heaven that he so deserved on earth. Dave's struggles were many, but his perseverance was no less amazing. He had an inner strength in the face of obstacles that few could aspire to. Dave, who gave everything, could give no more and is now at rest in the arms of his joyfully surrounded by his grandparents, more and is now at rest in the arms of his loving God. He is joyfully surrounded by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, all welcoming him home. He was a loving son to his mother and father, Patty and Phil Dion, a beloved brother to Pamela and Phil Dion and Jamie and Brad Wright, and an adoring uncle to Philip, Josie, Charles, Andrew and Davis. He touched so many as friend, cousin and nephew. He will remain with us in our hearts and minds. We are eternally grateful for the time he was given to us. His memory will forever be cherished. BRUNSWICK -- Richard A. Germain, 56, of Coolidge Avenue, died suddenly, Friday, April 14, 2005 at Albany Medical Center after being stricken at home. Born in Troy on July 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Allen James and Dorothy Clement Germain. He was raised and educated in Waterford and attended LaSalle Institute in Troy and graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany in 1968. He attended the Junior College of Albany and took night courses at Russell Sage receiving his bachelors degree in Sociology. He was employed for over 35 years with GAF in Rensselaer which later became BASF and worked himself up through the company to become a control chemist before retiring in August of 2002. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating on Lake George, gardening around his home and cooking. He was the beloved husband of 35 years of Patricia J. Martterer Germain; loving father of Richard P. (Hae Sun) Germain of Manhattan, Michele M. (John) Guzek of Clifton Park, Kristin (Greg) Dyer of Charlton, Mass.; proud grandfather of Nicholas Germain, Jack and Luke Guzek and Ryan Dyer; brother of James (Cathy) Germain of Troy, William (Margaret) Germain of Eppining, N.H. and Patricia (Russell) Hazen of Colonie; son-in-law of Margaret M. Martterer of Brunswick and the late Charles F. Martterer; brother-in-law of Paul C. (Patrice) Martterer and Michael D. (Brenda) Walker both of Clifton Park and the late Judith Walker. UPTON— Patricia P. (Gilliatt) Chagnon, 67, of Upton, died Thurs., Apr. 14, in Mass. General Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of Richard Gentili and a retired respiratory therapist. Ms. Chagnon was born in Marlboro, the daughter of Phyllis (Dodge) Gilliatt of Sudbury and the late Archie Gilliatt. She grew up in Marlboro and graduated from Marlboro High School. She was a 1977 graduate of Quinsigamond Community College and worked at U Mass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for 23 years before retiring in 2000. She had lived in Upton for many years, and then in Millbury for several years before returning to Upton six years ago. She had been a member of the Millbury Baptist Church and the Millbury Woman’s Club. She loved animals and gardening and was devoted to her family. In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves three sons, Joseph Choiniere of Pahrump, Nevada, Steven Choiniere, Sr. of Bellingham, and Kenneth Choiniere of Millville; two daughters, Lauri Roque of Bessemer City, NC, and Karen Rapp of Upton; four stepsons, Jay Gentili of Upton, Steven Gentili of Rome, ME, Joseph Chagnon of Amherst, and Ronald Chagnon of Texas; two brothers, Frank Gilliatt of Marlboro and Archie Gilliatt, Jr. of Hudson; two sisters, Jean White of Athol and Pauline Clark of Franktown, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved pets. Rita L. Girouard, 75, died April 11, 2005, at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, following a brief illness. Ms. Girouard was born in Massachusetts on March 3, 1930. She was a resident of Derry for the past year and formerly lived in Danville. Ms. Girouard enjoyed making fudge, going out to eat and attending Lowell Spinners baseball games. Joseph Frank Gladu -- November 15, 1920 -- April 13, 2005 -- DANIELSON -- Joseph Frank Gladu, 84, of Mechanic St. died on Wednesday at Haven Health Center in Danielson. He was the husband of Eva (Roberts) Gladu, who died on February 26, 1987. They were married in 1967. Mr. Gladu was born on November 15, 1920 in Plainfield, CT, the son of the late Valmore and Merilda (Lasnier) Gladu. He attended Sacred Heart School in Wauregan and Plainfield High School. Upon completion of his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1942. He served during World War II, and the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He served aboard the USS Bennington and in the Hedron Twelve Squadron and the Air Ship Squadron Three. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1967, he moved to Brooklyn, CT. He became employed as a security guard at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford. He then moved to Danielson and worked at Pervel Industries in Plainfield as a mill hand, retiring in 1982. Mr. Gladu was an avid sports fan, particularly the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed bowling in local leagues and playing horseshoes. He was a charter member of the Wauregan Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson. He leaves three stepsons and their wives, Rene R. Peloquin and his wife, Florence of Danielson, Roger A. Peloquin and his wife, Vivian of Kenosha, WI, and Gary W. Peloquin and his wife, Jean of Brooklyn, CT; a daughter, Phyllis Buffum of Brunswick, Maine; a stepdaughter, Constance St. Onge and her husband, Ronald of Plainfield; a brother, Joseph Choquette of Brunswick, Maine; three sisters, Dolores Labossiere of Wauregan, Jeanne Bill of Moosup and Gertrude Bransfield of Danielson; and several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pearl Allen; and four brothers, Gabriel Gladu, Adelard Choquette, Alfred Choquette, and Delfard Choquette. VAN BUREN - Aurore P. Lapointe, 92, died April 14, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Cyr Plantation, the daughter of Napoleon and Dina (Jacques) Lapierre. She was a 1930 graduate of the Fort Kent Normal School and graduated from the Presque Isle Normal School in 1931. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Spanish Study Club and had also completed a Dale Carnegie Institute course. Aurore was a member and served on the board of the Women's Extension Service. She also served as a Den Mother for the Van Buren Cub Scout Troop. She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to work in her flower gardens. She was an avid bridge player and golfer and played both in a very competitive spirit. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Lapointe and his wife, Marie-Paule of Van Buren, Dr. Joseph Lapointe and his wife, Janice, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; three grandchildren, Dr. Julie Bonnani and her husband, Dr. Perry, of Clifton Park, N.Y., Philip Lapointe and his wife, Amy, of Powell, Ohio, and David Lapointe and his wife, Trudi, of Caribou; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Stefania Bonnani, Peter and Sarah Lapointe; two great- stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Burch; one brother, Aristide Lapierre and his wife, Angeline, of Madawaska. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. She was previously employed as a seamstress at the former Delsey Fabrics of Chicopee. She was an active participant in the daily lunches for senior citizens at the Knights of Columbus Council 69 (Granby Rd) for many years and involved in many activities at the Valley View Senior Center in Chicopee. She was the widow of Edward Dupuis who died May 4, 1999. She is survived by two sons, Donald and his wife Susan of Granville, and Richard and his wife Patricia of Holyoke. She will be sadly missed by four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. PRESQUE ISLE - Elizabeth V. Gagnon, 83, wife of the late Lt. Col. Clayton Gagnon, died April 14, 2005, at a Presque Isle Hospital. She was born March 23, 1922, in Washburn, the daughter of Edward and Laura (Violette) Tardy. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle. Mrs. Gagnon enjoyed playing bridge and knitting. She is survived by a son, and his wife, David and Vi Gagnon of Albany, N.Y.; two daughters, Beverly Jean Warren of Presque Isle and Pamela Susan Reynolds and her husband, William, of Glenburn; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Georgianna Donnell of York Harbor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle with the Rev.
