Charlie E. Phillips Charlie Edward Phillips, 87, of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Moncton, passed away suddenly at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Born in Toronto, ON, son of the late Charles and Violet (Mitchell) Phillips. Charlie enjoyed his golf, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch # 6, 31 Club, Air Force Veterans Club Ltd, Air Force Veterans Club of Moncton, retired from Maritime Beverages and a vet of World War II serving in the R.C.A. Charles played with the Montreal Canadians in 1942-43 before going overseas. Charlie will be sadly missed by his daughters, Lynda Hicks (Lloyd) and Barbara Humphrey (Brian), both of Moncton; sons, Edward (Judy), Gary (Susan), John (Jack) (Pauline), Greg (Debbie), Michael (Lela), and Robert (Paula) all of Moncton, and Ronnie (Darlene), Elgin; 25 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Gordon, Brandon, Manitoba; several nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Trites) on Nov. 29, 1983; and brothers, Bill and Howard. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, March 31, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. David George Palmer LONDON, ON - David George Palmer, of London passed away on March 30, 2005 after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was a retired employee of Xerox Canada and a volunteer with Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre. David is survived by his father, Milton Palmer of Moncton, NB; and his sons, Derrick of Toronto and Mark of London. Also survived by cousins, Joy Mann of Hilden, NS; aunts, Rita Palmer of Halifax, NS, Marion (Frank) Wilson of Delmar, CA, and several other cousins; sister-in-law, Marlene Colquhoun (Cam) and family; former wife, June Palmer, as well as many faithful friends in AA. David was predeceased by his mother, Lena Palmer. The family will receive friends and relatives at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell), London for a memorial service on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 7 pm. Ronald Ralph Steeves 1936 - 2005 Ronald Steeves, 68, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Born in Indian Mountain, NB on March 31, 1936, he was the son of the late Nobel and Bertha Steeves. He is survived by his wife, Reina (Poulin) Steeves; sons, David (Laura) of Gallagher Ridge, Ronnie of Moncton; daughters, Michelle (Danny) Leblanc of Toronto, Anne, Nicole and Linda all of Moncton; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren. HANSON, WILLIAM W. - The death of William Walker Hanson of Apohaqui occurred on March 30, 2005 at his residence. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late George and Olga (Walker) Hanson and husband of the late Loretta (Holland) Hanson. Bill was always up for a game of crib, he loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending time at his camp and playing the accordion. He is survived by daughters Debbie (John) Fournier of Poodiac, Esther (Earl) Prosser of Riverview, Lynn (Garry) Hutchinson of Sussex and Tammy (Scott) Titus of Apohaqui, sons Dwight Hanson of Hampton, Brian (Leanne) Hanson of New Line, Kevin and Paul Hanson of Apohaqui, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sisters Gladys Sherwood of Upperton, Greta Snodgrass of Sussex, Doris Olsen of Cassidy Lake and Wendy Bach of Poodiac, brother Lloyd (Juanita) Hanson of Sussex Corner and several nieces and nephews. McARTHUR, M. DAWN (McFARLANE), (HARDING) - of Adelaide St. Saint John, died peacefully at the SJRH on Wednesday March 30, 2005. She was born in St. Stephen, NB and was the wife of the late Eugene Harding and the late Carroll McArthur and daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Jones) McFarlane. Dawn spent the greater part of her life in Saint John and was employed for a number of years in the parcel express department of S.M.T. She was a member of Portland United Church, a member of Branch #69 Royal Canadian Legion, involved with the Cub Scouts and was Cub Leader for many years at Portland United Church. Dawn enjoyed ceramics and crafts. Survived by two sons; Peter Harding (Barbara) and Stephen Harding (Elizabeth) both of Saint John, one brother; Peter McFarlane (Margo) of Calgary, Alberta, five grandchildren; Amy, Eugene, Stephen, Sarah and Amanda Rose as well as several nieces and nephews. Born in Ireland on January 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha (Abraham) McConnell and the beloved wife of Hazen Mercer who passed away 2005. Charles Henry White June 26, 1917 - March 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) On March 29, 2005 Chuck White passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre at the age of 87. Chuck is survived by his sons John (Sandy) White of Crooked Creek, AB and Cal (Lorri) White of Grimshaw, AB; five grandchildren Gry, Saionne, Kyle, Kati, and Kier;and his brother Fred of Nanaimo, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Jean McQueen White and a grandson Adam. Chuck was born in Folkestone, England and immigrated to Calgary in 1918 where he has remained since. He served in the R.C.M.P. and Canadian Infantry during WWII before beginning his career in the Lumber Industry. He was a member of the Perfection Lodge #9 GRA AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Scotland and a former member of the Al Ahzar Shrine Temple. Chuck was also a member of the R.C.M.P. Veterans Association, Division E. The family would like to thank the staff of the Bethany Care Centre and all the caregivers who helped during this past year. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 11 am at Leyden's "Chapel of Remembrance" (17th Ave. and 2nd St. SW) with Father Tony Ward officiating. Mr. Samuel Garth Musto July 14, 1938 - March 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Richmond Funeral Home Passed away at home in Richmond, B.C. on March 25, 2005, age 66, Nancy his loving wife and best friend of 47 years at his side. Garth will be forever remembered and missed by his family and friends; daughter Laurie (Bill) Wilson, daughter Sharon Musto, son Ken (Marisa) Musto, four grandchildren, Brianne, Blair, Sam and Lauren, great-grandchild, Hannalley, brother Dave (Irene) Musto, nieces, nephew and many good friends. The Musto family arrived in Richmond in the 1920's to farm; his father Sam married Gladys in 1936 and Garth was born July 14, 1938. Garth met Nancy and they married in 1958; he was pleased that his grandchildren were born in Richmond, making five generations of Mustos from Richmond. Garth was a builder who worked on the Guildford Shopping Center, 100 Mile Shopping Center and the Royal Center among many other projects. Garth llived his life with enthursiasm and zest, and always gave his all to everything he did. He received his black belt in Judo in 1963 through the Steveston Judo Club, was an avid runner who ran in the Vancouver and Portland Marathons and loved to run the 10 Richmond Flatland each year with his grandchildren. Garth loved to ski and received his ski instructors certificate in 1982 - he reveled in the downhill races at Whistler. Garth was a member of the Richmond Yacht Club from 1976, was Commodore in 1982, and enjoyed many years of boating with good friends. Garth's most recent pursuits have included golfing and learning to speak Italian-both of which he embraced with his usual dedication. Garth was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather whose zeal and laughter will be truly missed. The family extends a special thank you to all of Garth's very good friends who stayed close to him until the end and Dr. Leslie Brown for her care and compassion. Memorial service will be held at Richmond Funeral Home on Thursday, March 31st at 2 pm located at 8420 Cambie Road in Richmond. A reception will follow at the Richmond Yacht Club at 7471 River Road, Richmond.

TWIN MOUNTAIN- Rachel Forest, 72, of 200 Profile Road, died on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Littleton Regional Hospital, following a sudden illness. She was born in Woonsocket, R.I., the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Plante) Langevin. Rachel grew up in the Woonsocket area and relocated to Littleton many years ago where she and her husband owned and operated the former Elmwood Motel on the Mt. Eustis Road. Following the sale of the motel, they relocated to Twin Mountain in 1990. Rachel worked for many years in the deli department of the former ButsonÕs Supermarket in Littleton. Family members include two sons, Dennis Forest of Twin Mountain and Jean Forest of Milford, Del.; her mother Eva Langevin of Lewes, Del.; two brothers, Roger Langevin, and Raymond Langevin; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her husband, Francis died in 1993 and her son, Robert died in 2000. Calling hours were held on Monday, March 28 at the Ross Funeral Home, Whitefield Chapel. Frederick Leroy Garraway Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home GARRAWAY – Frederick Leroy (Roy) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family and the strong presence of God, into whose embrace he has been enfolded. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Clara Garraway, beloved son, Rodney Garraway; and sister, Phyllis Read. Roy is survived by his loving wife and companion of 55 years, Helen; son, Richard (Teresa); daughter, Gwen Lister (Ken); daughter-in law, Kathy. Devoted and loving grandfather to Shannon (Duane), Erin, David, Michael, Patrick (Danielle), Robert, Alison, and Kristine; and great grandfather to Jaxon, Benjamin and Ryder. Roy was born in Meyronne, SK on February 12, 1921. He attended Balfour Technical School in Regina, SK following which he proudly served his country overseas for four years during WWII. After he retired in 1982, Roy and Helen pursued their life-long interest in travel, gardening and the outdoors. His greatest joy and lasting legacy is his family. Interment will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens following a PRIVATE FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place with Pastor David Simpson of Westhill Park Baptist Church officiating. Celia J. (Cloukey) Theriault, of Meriden, died Monday, (March 28, 2005) in Ashland, ME. She was the wife of the late Harold Theriault. Born in Ashland, ME, she lived in Plainville for 26 years. Mrs. Theriault was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. She retired from Marshall's Corp. after 28 years of service. Mrs. Theriault leaves her two sons, Brent Theriault and his wife, Patty, of Ashford, Robert Theriault, of Plainville; her two daughters, Bonnie Sutera and her husband, Sal, of Meriden, Trudy Jones and her husband, Greg, of Standish, ME; her 11 grandchildren; her four great grandchildren; her sister, Nellie Carney, of Mapleton, ME, and was blessed with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Gene Cloukey and her two sisters, Lillian Carney and Gladys Baker. Her funeral services will be held Saturday, 9 a.m. from the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Brillant, 85, of Barron Hills died Monday, March 28, at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus.He was born in Topsham, Dec. 25, 1919, the son of Elzear and Josephine Chounard Brillant. He attended St. John's School. He worked two years at the Cabot mill.During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 509 Parachute Infantry Regiment in Africa and Europe. After the war, he worked at the Pejepscot Paper Mill as a paper maker, retiring in 1981.He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 of Brunswick.Surviving is a son, Lionel L. Brillant of Topsham; and a daughter, Louise Brillant of Bowdoin; two brothers, Roger Brillant of Sabattus and Laurent Brillant of Auburn; two grandchildren, Catherine and Christopher Brillant; and four great-grandchildren, Noah and Jacob Brillant, and Alicia and Griffin Thurston.He was predeceased by a daughter, Anne Maria Brillant, in 1954; and several brothers and sisters.

Stanley Fisher Hattie DORCHESTER, NB - The death of Stanley Fisher Hattie, age 88, of Dorchester, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Born in Glenelg, NS, he was a son of the late Ernest and Jean (Fisher) Hattie. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a nurse from 1943 to 1946. From the Airforce he went to work at the Dorchester Penitentiary retiring in 1978 as Senior Hospital Administrator. He was also active in his community as a member and Deacon in the Dorchester United Church, a member and volunteer of the Royal Canadian Legion, and a volunteer for the Red Cross Society. Lorraine M. (Bourque) Sylvester, 85, of Tequesta, FL passed away March 28, 2005. Born December 7, 1919 in Scoudouc, New Brunswick, Canada, she immigrated and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1952, resided in Miami until 1994 and then Tequesta, FL. She graduated with distinction from the University of Montreal, June, 1943, as a Registered Nurse serving Montreal's Saint Jean de Dieu Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital on Miami Beach. Fiercely independent, the French Canadian took pride in teaching French to her children, and sharing her wonderful homeland with her family over many summer and winter holidays. She was an accomplished seamstress, having studied haute couture and tailoring, as well as art and exotic flower design. She was famous for her French cuisine, and loved to entertain, sharing her many secrets to good cooking with family and friends. As a Girl Scout leader, nature lover, avid gardener, and world traveler she instilled timeless virtues of respect, compassion, love and laughter to all she touched. She will be forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles “Bob” Sylvester; their two daughters, Michelle Sylvester, Renee Morgan; son-in-law, Dr. Jefferson Morgan; and three grandchildren: Andrew, eight, Zachary, four and Caroline, 22 months. In Canada, where she will be interred, she is survived by nine sisters and brothers: Henrietta, Jeannette, Georgia, Edgar, Edith, Alice, Ola, Helene, and Rolande; and their spouses; 33 nieces and nephews, and many long time friends both near and far. A memorial mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, at 9:30am, Saturday, April 2, 2005. A reception will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center of Juno Beach, or Blowing Rock Nature Preserve on Jupiter Island. HOLYOKE - Teresa M. (Lisewski) LaRoche, 84, of Holyoke died Tuesday at home. She was born in Northampton, daughter of the late Stanley and Rose (Gromaski) Lisewski, was educated in the Whately School System and worked for many years at the Hadley Falls Trust Co., in Holyoke. Teresa was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission in Holyoke during the 1960's where she served as their Chairman, a member of the Tax Payers Association and the Women's Republican Club in Holyoke. She is survived by her husband, Howard R. LaRoche, a son, Robert K. and his wife Kathy LaRoche and a daughter, Katharine and her husband Robert Kennedy all of Holyoke, a brother, Peter Lisewski of South Deerfield, a sister, Grace Swiatek of Sunderland, her granddaughter, Jodi A. and her husband Bart Giustina of Enfield and many nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Margaret Jeanette, 87, of Piedmont Heights, left this world March 29, 2005 to rejoin with her beloved husband, Ben in Heaven. She was born July 18, 1917 in International Falls, Minn., to Wilfred and Liza Loirette. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She lived life to the fullest in every aspect. She spent her last days as she spent everyday, with her family, her friends and playing cards and bingo. She had retired from St. Louis County as a homemaker. Margaret loved bingo, gardening, crafts, sewing, fishing and traveling.
