BAXTER, FREDERICK W. - The death of Frederick W. Baxter of Kingston, husband of Sandra (MacAllister) Baxter occurred peacefully surrounded by his family on February 11, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Saint John, son of the late Frederick and Ada (Whipple) Baxter. Fred was employed at T.S. Simms from 1967 - 1979 where he traveled the world. He then worked for the Department of Transportation from 1981 - 1992 at the Gondola Point Ferry. He was a member of Trinity Church, Kingston. Surviving besides his wife Sandra are two daughters, Lori Maker (Jeff) of Saint John, Deborah Peterson (Carl Kneeland) of Saint John; and two sons, Paul Baxter of Saint John, Keltie Baxter at home; and two grandchildren Kelsey Ann and Jordan Peterson. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Tuesday, 10:30am, at Trinity Church, Kingston, with Rev. Don Trivett officiating. Clement J. Sandell 1934 - 2005 PETIT-CAPE, NB - Clement J. Sandell, 70, of Petit-Cape, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L Dumont Hospital on Saturday, February 12, 2005. Born in Shemogue, he was a son of the late Bernard and Celeste (Donelle) Sandell. He was a lifelong fisherman and passed his trade and talents on to his sons. Clement loved hockey and looked forward to the start of every NHL season. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jean (Johnson), Petit Cap; his daughter, Cheri (Ken) Moore, Temperance, Michigan; three sons, Randy, Dieppe, Larry, Kanata, ON, and Terry (Rachel), Grand Barachois; six grandchildren, Jason, Lacey, Justine, Nicholas, Matthew, Cassie; a half brother, Roy Donelle; sister, Bernice (Billy) LeBlanc, both of Petit Cap. SHORT, GEORGE K. - Unexpectedly, the death of G. Kenneth (Ken) Short of Foulis Court, husband of Rose (Duguay) Short, occurred on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at his residence. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late John and Rita (McCarthy) Short. Ken was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Saint John Salvage Corps. of Commissionaires as a Corporal, volunteered with the Fire and Police Departments of Saint John, past president of Fish and Game Association, instructor of the hunter and safety course and former Cub leader of St. Peter's Church. Alma Landry 1919 - 2005 Alma Landry, 86, of Moncton and formerly of Saint John, NB, passed away at Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Friday, February 11, 2005. Born in St. Paul, NB she was the daughter of the late Marc and Marie (LeBlanc) Belliveau. She is survived by her two sons, Peter Landry and his wife, Carolyn of Saint John, and Paul Landry and his wife, Denise of Moncton; a daughter, Lucy Landry of Toronto; two sisters, Ella Gaffney and Loraine Enwright both of Toronto; five grandchildren, Krista (Kevin), Wendi, Danny, Christien and Marc; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Emery" Landry in November 1996; and brother, Cloris Belliveau; and two sisters, Dorilla and Lorette. SMITH, WILLIAM (BILL) N. The sudden passing of Bill Smith occurred on February 11, 2005. Bill was born in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; the son of the late Hugh & Catherine Smith. Retired after 32 years with the Province of New Brunswick Civil Service, Bill was an active member of St. Anthony's Parish and a member of the Fredericton Golden Club and was an avid gardener. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie (Savage), two daughters and five sons - Carolyn & husband Roy Pottier; Sharon & husband, Andrew Forrest; Douglas and partner Donna; Robert and partner Sherry; Patrick and wife Gisele; Brian and wife Joan; Keith and wife Diane. Bill is also survived by two sisters: Geraldine Clements and Marjorie (Bryant) Prosser and two brothers: Wallace (Marion), and David (Betty). Bill was a devoted grandfather to 13 grandchildren: Angela & Adam Pottier; Shawn, Erin and Jason Smith; Amy and Barry Forrest; Robyn, Amber and Mark Smith; Corey Smith; Shane & Kelly Smith; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Smith and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by sister, Charlotte. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2005 from 2 - 4 pm, and 7 - 9 pm. The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Parish on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 11:00 am. Rev. Monty Peters will be officiating. BURDITT, MILDRED J. - At the Carleton Kirk Lodge Nursing Home on Friday, February, 11th, 2005; Mildred Jean (Babkirk) Burditt. Born in Elgin, NB, she is the daughter of the late Clarence and Alice (Pollock) Babkirk. Millie was a resident of the West Side most of her life and was a former member of Lancaster Baptist Church. For many years Millie worked with Unemployment Insurance and later with Canada Packers. In later years, Millie worked with Cedar Hill-Greenwood Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Dwight of Vancouver and Kirby of Saint John; one daughter, Margo Burditt of Jasper, Alberta; one grandson Bryn; former daughter-in-law, Susan; one brother Kenneth; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Millie was predeceased by her brothers, Walter and Laurie, and sister, Nina. By Millie's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation will take place followed by a graveside service in which friends are welcomed to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, February 16th, 2005 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery.
