SPRINGFIELD - Constance Claire (Fortin) Kean, 87, formerly of Regency Park Drive in Agawam died Jan 31st at the Chapin Center in Springfield. She was born and raised in Holyoke and since 1957 has lived most of her life in Springfield. She was a teacher for over 20 years in the Springfield School Systems. She retired in 1976. Constance received her BA from the University of Massachusetts in 1938. She was a member of Sigma Phi, the Springfield Education Assoc., the Mass. Teacher's Assoc., and the National Education Assoc. She was formerly a communicant of St John's Church in Agawam. She was the beloved widow of Harry W. Kean who died in 1982, loving mother of Robert of West Springfield, Brian of Longmeadow, and the late Suzanne Kean who died in 1982, and devoted grandmother of 6. There will be a funeral service held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St, West Splfd. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. LaPoint, Muriel (Gilmour) -- February 1, 2005 Muriel (Gilmour) LaPoint, 81, of Brighton Ave, Syracuse, died Tuesday at home. Born in Springfield, Long Island, Mrs. LaPoint had been in the Syracuse area for the past 61 years. She was employed at Crouse Hinds, GE and Sweet Heart Market.She was a member of the Mattydale Fire Department's Auxillary. She is predeceased by her husband, Ernest LaPoint who died February 17, 2004. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Frank) Hoffman of Spring Hill, FL; four sons, John (Maureen) of Chattanooga, TN, Mike (Alaina) of Clay, Paul (Dawn) of Syracuse and Chris (Audrey) of North Syracuse; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Johnson of Lafayette and Bernice LaPoint of Liverpool; two brothers-in-law, Robert of Syracuse and Richard of Hastings; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 29 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. DELAUNE, M. GRACE GIROIR A retired teacher at St. John Elementary School in Plaquemine with 37 years of service, she died at 10:37 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. She was 74 and a resident and native of Plaquemine. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, Thursday, Jan. 3, from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by special cousins, Renee Suzette Smith, whom she regarded as a daughter, and Sylvia Rivet, whom she regarded as a sister; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Murray Paul Delaune; and parents, Paul and Alvenia Allemond Giroir. She was a graduate of St. John High School, attended Nicholls State University and graduated cum laude from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans in 1977. She was the 1991 Catholic Schools Teacher of the Year in the Baton Rouge Diocese, a member of the St. John Altar Society, former Eucharistic minister, active participant of the St. John Adoration Chapel and assisted in the counting of the Sunday collection. EAST MADISON - Kenneth J. Labonte, 51, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2005. He was born Jan. 20, 1954, in Peterborough, N.H., the son of Albert J. and Dorothy (Senechal) Labonte Sr. He graduated from Conant High School in Jaffrey, N.H., Class of 1972. He studied music at Keene State College in New Hampshire for three years. Ken had been managing the Abnaki Camping Center in East Madison since 1979. He was a member of the National Arbor Day Foundation. He helped a lot of people by listening to their situations and then lending a helping hand. He was a musician and song writer and played the guitar. He loved children, loved to drive, enjoyed fishing, and was a Boston Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his parents and special nephew, Corey Heater. He is survived by three brothers, Albert J. Labonte Jr. and fianc?e, Donna Bouchard, of Fryeburg, Ronald Labonte of Jaffrey, N.H., Robert Labonte and wife, Lori, of East Madison; one sister, Linda Richard and husband, Bob, of Phillipston, Mass.; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, James, Trevor, Adam, Brandon, Morgan and Lauren. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, with Father Maurice N. HARTLAND - Andre A. Lebel, 61, passed away Sunday Jan. 30, 2005, as a result of a snowmobile accident in Hartland. He was born April 01, 1943, in Squatec, Quebec, Canada, the son of Emile Lebel and Elizabeth (Paradis) Lebel. He was educated in Canadian schools. He later married Suzanne Breton Lebel on Dec. 28, 1965, in Lejeune, Quebec. For most of his life he was a carpenter. The things that he enjoyed most about his work were, framing and doing drywall. For the last 10 years he had worked for Roland Drywall in Sabattus. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield. Andre was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping, and working outside. He was a well-liked man and made friends everywhere. He enjoyed telling stories. He also liked to dance. In addition to his wife, Suzanne, of 39 years of Hartland, he leaves behind three children, Nadine Villafranca and her husband, Dan, of Derry, N.H., Peggy Price and her husband, Jerry, of Pittsfield, Robin Lebel and his wife, Carissa, of Derry, N.H.; several brothers and sister that are from Quebec; two grandchildren, Andria and Alexander Price, both of Pittsfield; many nieces and nephews. Genevieve LeBlanc Stephens, a longtime resident of Marrero and a resident of Covington for the past twelve years, died at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington on Tuesday, February 1, 2005. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Stephens was a retired school teacher at Immaculate Conception School in Marrero. She is survived by her daughters: Carol S. Bartley and Jeanette S. Russo; her sons-in-law: George H. Bartley, Jr. and Peter R. Russo, Sr.; and her sister: Elmyre Levet. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: George ""Buddy'' Bartley, Pamela B. Mentel, Laurie, Patty, Joseph, and Connie Bartley, Peter Russo, Jr., Gina R. DiLusio, and Charlie Russo; ten great-grandchildren: Georgette Price, Heather and Bess Bartley, Misty, Michael, and Megan Bartley, Crystal Russo Steib, Stephanie, Danielle and David DiLusio; and one great-great-grandchild: Aidan Price. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband Joseph C. Stephens; her parents Mabel Porche LeBlanc and Albert LeBlanc, Sr.; four brothers: Adolph ""A.C.'' , Amos ""Mutt'', Milton ""Mickey'', and Albert LeBlanc; and two grandchildren: Stephen Russo and Georgette Bartley. M. Grace McNally, 88, of Cheyenne WY and formerly of Wakefield, died on Monday, January 31 at her residence. Born in Wedgeport, N.S. Canada on June 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late J. Raymond and Flora (Pothier) LeBlanc. Grace moved to the United States with her family when she was eight years old. She graduated from St. Clement’s High School in Somerville. At the age of 21 she became a US citizen, during the great “Blizzard” of 1937. In 1941, she married Urban F. McNally and moved to Wakefield in 1947. After her family was grown, Grace became a realtor and joined her husband’s realty business. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s parish in Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Urban L. McNally, who died in 200l, and is survived by three sons, William R. of CT, Leonard F. of NY, Paul of R.I., two daughters, Geraldine M. Curley of Wakefield and Susan Quille of WY and her sister, Marie J. Haslam of Stoneham. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 8 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 9:00 o’clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. TILTON -- Felix J. LeBrun Sr., 88, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at the New Hampshire Veterans'Home in Tilton. Born on Oct. 27, 1916, in St. Philippe de Neri, PQ, Canada, Mr. LeBrun was the son of Philippe and Mederise (Brodeur) LeBrun. He had spent his life as a New Hampshire resident, living in Penacook, Keene, Allenstown and Manchester before retiring to Tilton several years ago. A 1935 graduate of Penacook High School, he had been employed by Brezner Tanning and as a maintenance supervisor for Briar Pipe Co. in Penacook. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and was also a member of the Air National Guard stationed at Pease Air Force Base and Grenier Field, where he served as a loadmaster instructor. He was the widower of Mildred E. (Smith) LeBrun, who died in 1988, and is survived by four sons, Richard LeBrun of Hinsdale, Ronald LeBrun of South Deerfield, Mass., Gary LeBrun of West Milan, and Felix "Joe" LeBrun Jr. of Laconia; a daughter, Carol Sabol of Hopkinton; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert LeBrun of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Raymond LeBrun of East Rochester; a sister, Rose Sawtelle of Pittsfield; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. JURGENSEN, DOROTHY LEMIEUX, 77, passed away, January 29, 2005. Born in Westbrook, Maine, July 16, 1927 to Elizabeth and Rudolph Lemieux. She worked as a hostess for Pan American World Airways where she met and married John Jurgensen. She was a hospital volunteer for many years in both New York and Miami and was employed by Baptist MCVI where she worked until she retired. EAST MILLINOCKET - Anne "Maude" MacDonald Gallant, 94, died Feb. 1, 2005 at her home after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 11, 1910, in East Millinocket in the house next door to her home, the fifth child of John and Mary (Sullivan) MacDonald. She was a 1929 graduate of Schenck High School and a graduate of the Chandler School of Business in Boston. She worked as a clerk at the East Millinocket Post Office for many years, retiring in 1972. Maude was the oldest living woman born and residing in East Millinocket. She married Alfred Gallant Sept. 6, 1939. Maude was a faithful communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a charter member of St. Anne's Circle Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed being in the many fashion shows and skits the Daughters put on. She enjoyed camping and traveling to the different parts of the country and world. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Maude is survived by her daughters, Anne Donovan of Medway, Mary "Mae" Gallant of East Millinocket, Rita Morneault and her husband, Remi, of Hampden; her sons, Alfred and his wife, Dianne, of Milford, Daniel and his wife, Bonnie, of Woodville, and John and his wife, Brenda, of Medway; her grandchildren, Tim and Sue Donovan, Daniel Morneault, Mary Nickerson, Teresa Howe, Cathy Adamo, Matt, Josh, and Rob Gallant, Brian Gallant, Amy Pelkey, Greg Gallant, Dyana Gallant; and stepgrandsons, Michael and Stephen Hildreth, and Ryan Pelkey; her great-grandchildren, Joan, Mark, Michelle, Hannah, Jonathan, Catherine, J.J, Tori, Logan, Andrew, Tommy, Ashley, and Olivia; her special sister, Kathleen Crawford of East Millinocket; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. SPRINGFIELD - Marie B. (Martineau) Chabot, 86, of the North End section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Tuesday February 1, 2005 from her home with her loving family by her side. She worked for many years as a private domestic for area families in Springfield and Longmeadow. She was born in Saint Michel Bellechasse, Province of Quebec, Canada on December 2, 1918 a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Graziella (Gagnon) Martineau. She was raised in Canada and moved to Springfield in 1955. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and a longtime member of the Ladies of Sainte Anne Sodality in Canada. Her beloved husband, Oscar J. Chabot was Called Home on July 5, 1991. She leaves her loving children, Lucette S. Godbout and her husband Laurent of East Springfield, Jean Louis Chabot and his wife Sandra of Wilbraham, Joseph O. Chabot and his wife Debra of Longmeadow and Laurette J. Kendzierski of Springfield with whom she lived. Her 12 cherished grandchildren, Linda Hill, Nancy Johnson, Denis Godbout, Dean Chabot, Troy Chabot, Michelle Chabot, Glen Chabot, Donald Chabot, Doreen Santinello, Kristin Capell, Jamison Chabot and Matthew Chabot. Her 13 cherished great grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Daniel Hill, Zachary Godbout, Troy Corbino, Tiffany Corbino, Danielle Chabot, Tristin Chabot, Hunter Chabot, Alyissa Chabot, Brya Capell, Carly Capell and Bryce Santinello. Her dear sisters, Merilda R. Gamache and Pauline Larrivee, both of Springfield and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held Friday morning February 4, 2005 at 8:45 a.m. from the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace at the corner of Chestnut Street in Springfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 94 Springfield Street in Chicopee. Her burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery on Hampden Street in Chicopee. OLD TOWN - Robert H. Melanson, 67, died unexpectedly Jan. 30, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 22, 1937, in Eaton, a son of Joseph and Eva (Stoddard) Melanson. Bob enjoyed pony and horse pulls at the fairs and was employed at the Bangor State Fair for several years. He will be remembered for his weekly auctions and his second-hand store in Old Town. He loved racing and enjoyed watching his boys race. He is survived by five children, Cindy Long and her husband, Bob, of Newark, Ohio, Rocky Melanson and his wife, Cindy, of Sebois, Ralph Melanson and his wife, Michele, of Charleston, Mary Ellen Church of Norfolk, Va., and Loretta MacDonald and her companion, Wayne Fortin, of Oakland; brothers and sisters, Leroy and Norma Melanson of Bradley, Noah Melanson of Connecticut, Barbara and Gilbert Grass of Lambert Lake, Helen Ryder of Connecticut, Jeanine and Dicky MacDonald of Connecticut; his 5-year companion, Alice Kalel of Orono; 14 grandchildren, five great-grand-children; best friend, Barry Kennedy; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his life companion of 33 years, Jeannette MacDonald; siblings, Joe Melanson, Jenny Landry, Alfie Melanson, Muriel Melanson and Billy Ryder. BREWER - Nancy E. (Mutty) Dandaneau, 95, wife of the late Leonard Dandaneau, died Jan. 31, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare center. She was born May 18, 1909, in Brewer, the daughter of Joseph I. and Alice F. (Burke) Mutty. Nancy was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, where she was active for many years with the Altar Rosary Society and as a CCD teacher. Surviving are three children, Alyce Martin and her husband, James, of Holliston, Mass., Angela Hart and her husband, David, of Brewer and George Dandaneau and his wife, Jody, of Bangor; 10 grandchildren, Suzanne Raffalli, James Martin, Michelle Tiernan, Joseph Martin, Lucienne Moore, George Dandaneau Jr., Gabrielle Dandaneau, David "DJ" Hart, Anne-Marie DeRevere, and Matthew Hart; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Danyell Dandaneau; three brothers, Raymond, Carl and James Mutty; and one sister, Mary Mutty. NEW BEDFORD -- Arleen Nancy (Oliveira) Comeau, 57, of Acushnet died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Wayne Comeau. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of George and Mary Nancy (Vieira) Oliveira of Acushnet. She lived in Acushnet most of her life and was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church. Mrs. Comeau was a nurse's aide with Personal Touch Home Health Care; she previously was a nurse's aide at New Bedford Health Care and was an inspector at Epec Industries. She graduated from New Bedford High School and Kinyon Campbell Business School. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading. Survivors include her parents; a son, Andrew Comeau of Acushnet; two stepchildren, Bryan Comeau, and his wife, Jill, of Holliston, and Bethany DeGrace of New Bedford; two stepgrandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also known as Pappy.He was born June 3, 1924, in Newport, N.H., the son of William and Mary J. LEBRUN, Ann Heaven has another angel. It is with heavy hearts that the sons and daughters-in-law of Ann (Pelletier) LeBrun announce the passing of their beloved mother on Sunday (January 30, 2005). Ann was born on August 30, 1923 in Ft. Kent, ME, the daughter of Hilaire and Agnes Pelletier. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, Herve LeBrun. She lived in Waterbury and was a member of St. Anne Church. She was a dedicated employee of Platt Brothers for over 20 years. Ann was the beloved mother of Ronald and his wife Kymberly of Tolland, and Robert and his wife Theresa of Prospect. She took great joy in her grandchildren Kimberly LeBrun, Michael Schuberth, Robert, Stephanie and Nicholas LeBrun and adored her great grandson, Matthew Wahl. Ann was predeceased by her wonderful grandson, Kevin LeBrun and by her special friend, Peter Langdo. She leaves her sister who was her best friend, Lucille and Peter Toschi of Plainville, and her brother, Leonard Vaillancourt of Madawaska, ME. She also leaves many nieces and nephews to mourn her loss. Her dedicated love and devotion to her family along with her warm heart made Ann loved by all who knew her. PROULX, ROBERT B., 'PETE', 80, formerly of North Kingstown, most recently of Sarasota, FL, a retired North Kingstown Policeman, died Friday at Laurel Center Nursing Home of Bedford, NH. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Reed) Proulx for 59 years.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Aimable and Margaret (Selmanine) Proulx. Wounded in combat while serving in WWII for the US Army, he was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Proulx was in inventory control at the Davisville Seabee Base for over 30 years and was a North Kingstown Special Policeman for 33 years before retiring. Gilbert L. Robillard Sr., 92, Sturgeon Bay, died at the Dorchester Health and Rehab. Center on Jan. 31, 2005. Agnes worked for Allstate Insurance Co. of Latham in the claims department for over 25 years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed singing with other residents at Kingsway and wrote a column for the Kingsway Arms Newsletter. She loved playing bingo with her friends, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Ciabotte; sisters, Yonia Foster; her only grandson, Bryan A. Ciabotte who she enjoyed watching grow; several nieces and nephews. Agnes was also predeceased by a son, Michael Long in 1994; a son-in-law, Dominick Ciabotte; sisters, Vera Whiting and Erma McClure. EAST MILLINOCKET - Janice Lessard Waite, 68, passed away peacefully Jan. 31, 2005, after a short battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Waterville, to Bernard Lessard and Clarice (Haynes) Lessard Sterling. Janey was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, teaching seminary classes to her children and grandchildren. Her family was her happiness. She enjoyed doing genealogy and was often found helping others with their genealogy library at her Church in Bangor. One of her special hobbies was photography, also making crafts and spending time with her beloved cats. Janey is survived by her eternal companion, Jack G. Waite Sr.; her sons and their families; Jack and Gailene Waite of Auburn, and Alex and Pam Waite of East Millinocket. She will be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Janey is also survived by a sister, Mindy Parker of Oakland; a brother, John Sterling and his wife, Debra, of Skowhegan; a beloved brother-in-law, Wally Sheive of Oakland; as well as her dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and stepfather, Robert Sterling; a sister, Marlene Sheive; and a son, Joel Waite. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at R. L. Robert William Marien Born June 12, 1934, passed away peacefully at home on January 29th, 2005. Robert was a life time member of USJF, for in which he helped form the Minnesota Judo Federation in 1955. Robert was a former Marine who served in the Korean War Battle of Bunker Hill and the Chosen Reservoir. Robert was a Proud Marine. Robert loved everyone mostly kids who called him Ranger Bob. He leaves behind his wife Patricia of almost 50 yrs. ; sons Robert G. Marien, Arthur and Cathy Marien, daughters Rene and Jeff Hock, Christy and Joe Theiss, Cindy and John Lucha. His grandchildren of which he was proud of Cody Marien, Thomas and Carolynn Marien, Joey and Amanda Theiss, Nick and Mike and Joanna Theiss, John and Brian Lucha; brothers Bud and John Marien and sister Deanna Hernandez. The youngest daughter of Elsie Tompkins and Harvey Scythes. She attended Oakwood Collegiate, Victoria College (3T9) and the Institute of Child Study of the University of Toronto. In 1944 she married George Stoddart. She taught kindergarten in the Toronto Public School System and retired from Niagara Street Public School in 1982. Her many interests included birdwatching and music and she was a longtime chorister at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Toronto. Upon retirement, she was a volunteer for the Grange, the Sick Children's Hospital and the Architectural Conservancy Society. In 1990, she moved to Montreal to live with her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, her sons Peter and Paul and her sister Eleanor McKinnon. She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer (Clement Demers), her grandsons Nicolas and Patrick, her sister Joyce Goodbrand, her nieces Gerda Halliday, Marlene Goodbrand, Christine Dalziel, her nephews Kenneth Goodbrand and Stephen McKinnon and many grand nieces and nephews. LUKEY, Matt John, February 23, 1927 - January 31, 2005. Surrounded by his family at the Hotel Dieu Hospital (St. Catharines), Matt went peacefully home to the Lord.
