MINSHULL, Christena (Pat) (nee Wylie) (formerly Boyd) On Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Niagara Arms, St. Catharines, at the age of 95 years. Predeceased by her husbands Carman Boyd, Stanley Minshull, parents Joe and Libby Wylie, brothers Cecil, Clifford and Glen and sisters Stella Carkner and Jessie Atchison. She taught school at Goulbourne Township, Ontario, Montapica, Quebec for the R.C.A.F. and St. Catharines until her retirement in 1974. During the next 19 years she co-ordinated travel and formed a large Travel Club at the Dunlop Drive Seniors in St. Catharines. Left to mourn are her son Bill, his wife Anne, grandson Kevin Boyd, granddaughter Kelly and her husband Charlie Bungard and their daughter Sydney. The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines, 905-684-6346, on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow, the ashes will be inurned in Metcalfe Cemetery. GILLIGAN, John Patrick (Jack). Peacefully and courageously surrounded by his loving family at the Montreal Neurological Institute on January 26, 2005 at the age of seventy-three years. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley McKeown. He was the proud father of Sheila (Marty), Paddy (Pauline), Doreen (Julio), Grace (Eric), Tommy (Cheryl), Joan, Joyce (Larry), Ron (Vinnie), Kevin (Anna), and Cathy (Darren). He will be fondly remembered by Jim Fox of Guelph, Ontario. Jack was also loved by his twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his brother and sisters, Gerald (Christine), Grace (Peter) and Bernice. He is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Moncton on February 15, 1945 he was the son of the late Aubin Goguen and the late Adéle Poirier. He had retired from Emco Sumner's Plumbing. Guy attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. Guy is survived by his wife, Denise Arsenault; one sister, Simonne Dawson (Joe), Leominster, MASS, USA; one brother, Roger Goguen (Sharon), London, ON. He was predeceased by one brother, Roméo in 2004. Resting at Coopérative Funéraire Passage Funeral Co-operative, Shediac Bridge with visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and Monday from 9:30 AM till departure at 10:30 AM. Albertine Goguen ORMOND BEACH, FL - Albertine Goguen passed away on Monday, January 17, 2005 in Ormond Beach, FL. Mrs. Goguen was born in Ste-Mariede-Kent, NB, the daughter of the late Emilien and Alice LeBlanc and moved to the Daytona Beach, FL area in 1991 from Orlando. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and being with her family. Mrs. Goguen is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Norman; three sons, Gerard (Linda) of White River Junction, VT, Denis (Cheryl) of Derry, N.H. and Terry (Carol) of Manchester, N.H.; daughter, Denise Logan (Johnny) of Waltham, MA; brother, Robert LeBlanc of Kamika, Quebec; six sisters, Huberte Maillet of Ste Marie, Cecile Lessard of Chertsey, Quebec, Bernice Leger of Clinton, MA, Lina Manuci of Monreal, Quebec, Dianna Atkinson of Dieppe, NB and Geralda Stockman of Moncton, NB; and eight grandchildren. Interment was Saturday, January 22, in Bedford, New Hampshire. REESE, HARRIET CRAIG, nee HOWE - Born in Welsford, NB on August 30, 1930, passed away in Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum, BC, on Friday, January 21, 2005, after a battle with lung cancer. Harriet was predeceased by her loving husband, Royden. She is survived and greatly missed by her children, Jane Anne Kivimaki (Joe), Julia Catherine Reese Sidhu (Satnam), Susan Elizabeth Reese. Harriet's family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Eagle Park for their dedicated care and support. Harriet moved with her family in 1969 to North Vancouver, BC, where she lived until moving to Vancouver Island, where she eventually retired. Harriet had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Christina, Sasha and Marcus, who have wonderful memories of her. VALDRON, MARIE GEORGINA - Georgina Marie Valdron of 191 St. John St., Dalhousie, NB passed away on January 24th, 2005 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie. Born in Tracadie-Sheila on September 11th, 1936, she was the daughter of Alphonsina (Lebreton) and the late George Holmes. Georgina was employed as a registered nurse. She is survived by her husband Andrew Valdron, mother Alphonsina Holmes of Saint John, NB, daughter Kyla Valdron Clark of NFLD, sons John Valdron of Dalhousie and Dennis Valdron of Manitoba, sisters Alice Meunier and Gemma Hajerty both of Saint John, NB, brother John Holmes of Hampton, NB and two grandchildren Jared Valdron and Shannon Clark. The Funeral will be held at the St. John Bosco Church on January 27th, 2005 at 11 am officiated by Rev. Culligan. Interment will be in the St. John Bosco Cemetery. Lillian R. Pridham 1926 - 2005 Lillian R. Pridham, 78, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital with her two daughters at her side, Wednesday, January 26, 2005. Born in Sunny Brae, she was the daughter of the late Frederick "Ed" and Kathleen (Dargravel) Steeves. Lillian spent most of her life in Sunny Brae, except for several years that she worked in Calgary as an accountant with the United Mine Workers of America. She was an adherant of Humphrey Memorial United Church, Massey Ave. Moncton. She was a long-time member of the Sunny Brae Birthday Club, where she enjoyed many good times with close friends. Lillian loved the written word and spent many happy days reading, doing crosswords and playing scrabble. Unfortunately with failing eye sight, this prevented her from completing a novel based on the life of her father. Lillian's most cherished time was spent with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Pridham of Harvey and Janice Pridham of Scoudouc; six grandchildren, Julie, Tara, Josh, Lindsay, John and Matt; sister, Juanita Steeves of Russell, ON; one brother, Waldo Steeves (Ruth) of New Minas, NS; a special cousin, Beatrice "Biddie" of Molus River and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her close friend and former spouse, H.I. Brud Pridham in January, 2005; brothers, Clarke, Louis and Dougie and by one sister, Lorna. It is her request no viewing will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brett Anningston officiating. The family will be receiving relatives and friends in the reception area of the funeral home immediately following the service. MUNN, WILBERT JAMES The death of Wilbert James Munn of Hayesville, NB occurred on Wednesday, January 26th, 2005 at his home. Born in Hayesville, NB, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Lena (Brown) Munn. He was a Guide for the Salmon Brook Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wilbert is survived by a brother, Cecil Munn (Vera) of Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Dora Dunham (Vernon) and Olive MacKenzie (Sidney) of Fredericton, NB and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by four brothers; Clement, Eric, George and Frederick; and his sister Mildred McKay. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was a son of Rita (Fitzgerald) and the late Ralph A. Mattsson. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in July 1966 serving in the Black Watch (Cyprus), peacekeeping and later aboard HMCS Huron until his honorable release in August 1978. He spent several years working as a Special Constable with the Halifax City Police. Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon (Murphy); daughters, Lisa Marie Monin (Kerry) and Brenda Lee, both of Ontario; stepchildren, Robert, Dartmouth; Ross and Rosalind, both of Ontario; five grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Cathy), St. John's, NL; sisters, Roberta (David) Pulsifer, Marilyn O'Neil, Susan, Karen Boutilier, Paula McLellan, Bonnie (Bob) Pettipas, Monica (Mark), all of Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Shirley Murphy, Donna (Norm) Dodgson; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Her involvement with the UCW saw her contributing her sewing and handcraft skills on many fundraising occasions. She was a life member of the Grace Hospital Auxiliary where she particularly enjoyed the hospital Stork Shop. Over her lifetime, she spent many summers at her Portuguese Cove cottage. She was an avid bridge player, loved to cook and share her home, and was happiest when surrounded by her cherished family and friends. Gladys is survived by her daughters, Jean Copeland, Ottawa; Cathy Morrison, Halifax; son, Robert, Halifax; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; sisters, Mildred Lohnes, Isobel in infancy; brothers, Norbert, Kenneth, Clary, Cecil, Richard. JUSTASON, EDWIN WILLIAM - The death of Edwin William Justason, 90, of Pennfield, husband of 59 years to Avril (Wright) Justason, occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on January 27, 2005. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on December 23, 1914, he was a son of the late Edward and Alma (Eldridge) Justason. Besides his wife, Avril, Edwin is survived by three daughters, Marsha Duncan (Daniel) of Oakville, ON, Denise Stewart (Wayne) of Pennfield, and Geraldine Rogers (James) of Saint John; one sister, Hilda Smith of Florida; and seven grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by one brother, Harold and two sisters, Muriel and Leila. For over 30 years, Edwin worked at various jobs for Connors Bros. Ltd. in Blacks Harbour. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #39, Blacks Harbour for 50 years, and was a member of the Pennfield Lions Club. He had a great love of hockey, and was a coach to many children in the intramural ages from youngsters to teens. He also had a passion for watching football on TV. The service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB, on Sunday, January 30th, at 2 pm, with Rev. Olga "Baba" Mirosh (née Fritz) September 25, 1910 - January 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) Suddenly, at her home, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 94. Olga was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 1977, a brother Walter, sister Alma and parents, Gustaf and Emma. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Larry) Grzebeniak, son Walter (Isabel), grandchildren Wendy (Clark) Myers, Tammy (Rob) Kiliwnik, Barry (Karey) Grzebeniak, Karina (Glenn) Barr, and David (Vernelle) Mirosh. Baba’s special angels were great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Emily, Ariel, Serena, Taylor, Lydia and Kaley. Also survived by sister Elsa, nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany, Canada and the USA. In 1929, at the age of 19, Olga came to Canada to pursue a better life. In 1937, she married Fred Mirosh and they settled in the Point Douglas area. She stayed at home to raise a family and helped her husband run the family business, Pritchard Boat Yard. Family was the most important thing to her. Her home was always open to family and friends. She was a marvelous cook and you never went hungry at Baba’s. Her greatest pleasure was to work in her yard. Her flowers and vegetables were the envy of the whole neighbourhood. She had a wonderful sense of humour and had the ability to even laugh at herself. Bruce Sine, 83 Bruce Sine, 83, retired from Phillips Cables, died January 2 at Brockville General Hospital. He had been ill for a year from heart disease and complications from a broken hip. He was born June 8, 1921 in Murray Township to Benjamin Franklin Sine and the former Mary Cassibeault. He attended public school in Frankford and Bloomfield (near Belleville) and moved with his family in 1932 to Brockville, where he attended Prince of Wales Public School and Brockville Collegiate Institute. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, during the Second World War, and was discharged in 1945. From 1940 to 1983, except during the war, he worked at Phillips Cables in the purchasing department. He lived in Athens from 1960 to 1984 and moved back to Brockville in 1984. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brockville, devoting most of his life to serving the local congregation, including service as an elder. His other interests were his family, photography and cooking. He is survived by his second wife, the former Helen Golledge, whom he married in Brockville in 1984; four sons, Donald Sine and wife Luella and Ken Sine and wife Joanne, of Brockville, Michael Love and wife Leona of Edmonton and Richard Love and wife Françoise of Ottawa; one daughter Nancy Nofal and husband John of Ottawa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Audrey Sine of Brockville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Fraser, his parents, brother Eugene Sine, sisters Rhoda McNamara and Neva Hubbs and daughter-in-law Elaine Sine. Arrangements including cremation were made through the Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville. A memorial service was held January 5 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, on Victoria Road, with Paul Boyko officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. GILLELAND, Alice Catharine, of St. Catharines, passed away at the St.Catharines General Hospital, January 27, 2005. Born June 11, 1912 of a pioneer St. Catharines area family, Frederick B. Gilleland and Dagmar Gilleland. Alice attended Woodland Scho ol and St. Catharines Collegiate. She received her teacher training at the Hamilton Normal School and began teaching in 1931 at the age of 19 at McArthur School in Port Dalhousie, and in 1954 became the first principal of Gracefield School, where she remained until her retirement in June 1972. Long time member of St. Paul St. United Church, where she served on numerous committees locally and at the presbytery level. Predeceased by parents, her brother and sister-in-law Allan B. Gilleland (Margar et Jean). She is survived by niece Nancy Cummer and family of Langruth, Manitoba, cousins in Ontario and in the USA, her dear friend Elizabeth Jenner and many other caring friends. FRANK O’CONNOR O’Connor - It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Frank O’Connor announces his passing on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at the Kirkland & District Hospital. Frank was predeceased by his parents Neil and Lillian O’Connor and brothers Ralph and Jack O’Connor. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Olga; daughters Mary Lou (Steve) Horton of Sudbury, Joanne (Keith) Ohlman of Belle River and Frankie (Doug Bradley) O’Connor of Larder Lake; son Tom O’Connor of Kirkland Lake; grandchildren Laura, Michael, James, Jeremy, Colin, Skyler and Kerri Ann; great grandchild Mileena; sisters Mary Helen, Pam and Ann Catherine; brother Peter and his extended family. The O’Connor family will receive relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Friday, January 28, 2005 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the “Teck-Hughes Chapel” of the Monette & French Funeral Home on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Wayne Mills officiating. Frank will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery in the spring of 2005. NORMAN CHOW The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Sudbury after a 10 year battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 25, 2005. Loving husband of Estela Chow ( Nee Aguilar). Dear father of Andy Chow of Hamilton, Jason Chow (wife Lisa), Alan Chow all of Kitchener, Shane Chow of Hamilton, Christelle and Estephanie Chow both of Timmins. Grandfather of Carson Norman Chow of Kitchener. Survived by his mother in-law Leonida Aguilar of Timmins and his father in-law Alejandro Aguilar of the Philippines as well as his sisters in-law; Jean Aguilar, Paz Aguilar, Rowena Ancheta and close friend Dolores Hizon all of Timmins. Also survived by brothers in-law and sisters in-law in the Philippines as well as numerous close friends in Timmins. Norman was born in China and has resided in Timmins for over 20 years during which time he worked as a cook with the London Café. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 from the Nativity of Our Lord Church. Interment Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
