LOWLES, (Ruth) Helen. (nee Aird, 18 December 1915, Montreal). Died peacefully at home in Sundre, Alberta on January 24, 2005. She taught us how to live, to love, to laugh and to care for each other and finally, how to die. Dearly missed by her children Jane (Frank Giffen), Doug (Marilyn) and Judy, grandchildren David, Lynda (John Clements), Mary, Christina and Sheila Giffen, and Andrew and Steven Lowles. MARANDA, Jacques. On Tuesday, January 25, 2005 Mr. Jacques Maranda of Cold Lake, Alberta passed away at the age of seventy-five years. Jacques is lovingly survived by his five daughters: Marilyn (Billy) Eastwood of Cold Lake, AB, Anne (Bob) Morison of Cold Lake, AB, Liz (Gene) Scheidl of Edmonton, AB, Jackie (Allan) Wilkie of Edmonton, AB, Suzie (Bob) Podoleski of Cold Lake, AB; brother: Raymond Maranda; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jacques was predeceased by his wife: Mary; parents; Antonio and Lucienne Maranda; sister: Cecile Maranda. Harold C. Stockton SUSSEX, NB - The death of Harold Crawford Stockton of Sussex occurred on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mr. Watson was a Master Carpenter with Custom Builders and he enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, and loved walking in the woods. KEYES, DIANNE GAIL (GRANT) - The death of Mrs. Dianne Gail (Grant) Keyes, loving wife of John (Jack) Keyes, of East Saint John, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday January 26, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1943 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Nina Bell (Graves) Grant. Dianne was employed for many years with the Bank of Commerce and Bank of Nova Scotia retiring in May of 2000. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Lakewood. Besides her loving husband Jack, she is survived her son Chris and daughter Alyson (Corey Fairbrother) both of Saint John; grandchildren Anna and Aiden; brother Dennis Grant (Ann Marie) of Saint John; sister Irene Grant of Black River; several cousins, nieces and nephews. TAYLOR, RICHARD LEVERETTE - Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on January 26, 2005, Mr. Richard Leverette Taylor, 67, husband of Priscilla Anne (Miller) Taylor, of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Moncton, NB on April 17, 1937, he was a son of the late Leverette and Beatrice Irene (Roberts) Taylor. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard is survived, besides his wife, by two daughters, Melinda (Bruce) Bellefleur of St. Catherines, ON, Shirley Taylor of Blacks Harbour; a son, Roderick (Alice) Miller of Minto, NB; five grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley, Sarah, Alex and Drew; two sisters, Elaine (Roy) Battersby of Toronto, ON and Judy of Dawson Creek, BC; two brothers, Doug (Jane) Taylor, and Dean (Joanne) Taylor, both of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Richard had worked for several employers over the years, as a tool crib attendant, labourer and as a barber. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Harold Worden, 85 Harold Henry Worden, 85, war veteran and retired Phillips Cables employee, died January 5 at Sherwood Park Manor. Before coming to the manor, he had lived at RR 2, Lyn. He was born October 12, 1919 at Graham Lake to Gilbert Worden and the former Augusta Robinson. He was raised in the Brockville area and helped on the family homestead. He helped his mother, selling vegetables on the market. On April 17, 1941 he joined the army in Cornwall. He served in England, Scotland, Sicily, Italy, Holland, Germany and France, with the RCASC and First Canadian Armed Brigade 83rd Company. He was discharged January 31, 1946 in Ottawa. After returning from war, he served with the Royal Canadian Artillery (militia) from January 19, 1950 to March 10, 1955. He worked at the Phillips Cables plant in Brockville's west end for 25 years, retiring in 1964. Mr. Worden was a 59-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Brockville. He enjoyed his cottage at Upper Beverly Lake, fishing (including ice fishing), deer hunting, snowmobiling and all outdoor activities. He is survived by several nieces and nephews: Beverly Poole and her husband Jim, Gerry Reynolds and his wife Marie, Carl Jowett, Don Jowett and wife Audrey, George Worden and wife Elaine, Mary Blanchard and husband Fred, Frank Worden and wife Georgina, Marilyn Dudka, Sharon Looker, Carole Airhart and husband Jim, Lloyd Worden and wife Sandra and Nelson Worden and wife Eva. He was predeceased by his lifelong companion Margaret Conley, brothers Hubert, Willard "Joe" and Nelson Worden, and sisters Mae Jowett, Leita Reynolds, Blanche Worden and Vivian Worden (in infancy), as well as a niece, Mae Herbison and a nephew Gary Worden. Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on January 7 the Legion held a memorial service. The funeral was held January 8 in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Paul Walker, 82 Paul Walker, 82, a war veteran, retired Parke Davis employee and active member of the Salvation Army, died January 17 at Brockville General Hospital. He had been a resident of St. Lawrence Lodge since 2003. He was born Herbert Paul Walker in Isly, Alberta, on March 8, 1922 to Henry Walker and the former Annie Coombs. When he was four years old, he moved with his family to St. Thomas, Ont., where he was raised and educated. In 1940, near the beginning of the Second World War, he joined the army, enlisting with the Elgin Regiment. He came to the Officers Training Centre in Brockville in 1941 and was discharged in 1945 in Kingston at the end of the war. He worked for the Canadian National Railways, on the Brockville and Westport run out of Brockville. Then he worked for the T. Eaton Company in Brockville for 16 years. Finally, he began working at Parke Davis in 1960, in the shipping and receiving department, and retired after 22 years, in 1982. Mr. Walker was an active member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed doing volunteer work in connection with it. He enjoyed people and liked helping others. He spent some of his free time at the 1000 Islands Mall and came to be known as the "candy man" because he'd often have a supply of candies and liked giving them to people. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene McNish; three sons, Leonard Walker and wife Mary of RR 3, Athens, Carl Walker and wife Susan of Lyn, and Dale Walker and wife Susan of Johnstown; three daughters, Shirley Champagne of Brockville, Joanne Bow and husband Richard of Toledo and Rosemary Foisy and husband Douglas of Addison; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, his twin Pauline Eames of St. Thomas, Florence Dadson and husband Murray of St. Thomas, Bessie Closs of Cambridge and Gladys Walker of Winnipeg, as well as his sister-in-law Helen Thompson of Thunder Bay and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Rodney and David Walker, a daughter Helen Pakenham (on December 7, 2004) and a brother Orville Thompson. Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville on January 20. The funeral was held January 21 in the Salvation Army Community Church, Brockville, with Capt. Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne officiating, assisted by Capt. Reid Colbourne of the Salvation Army, Rev. David Jones of First Presbyterian Church, and Pastor Chris Haggith of Thousand Islands Baptist Church. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. The pallbearers were Joanna Beatty, Lindsay Walker, Joey Gilmour, Bobby Gilmour, Michael Harper and Stephen Matta. Andy DeJong, 47 CARDINAL -- Andrew Henry "Andy" DeJong, 47, died January14 after a courageous battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig disease). He was born July 1, 1957 in Brockville to Siebold DeJong and the former Jantje deBoer, and was raised in the Algonquin area on the family farm. He attended elementary school in Algonquin and Maynard, and then South Grenville District High School. On June 28, 1980 he married Barb Melbourne at St. John's United Church in Cardinal, and lived in the Mainsville area before settling in Pittston 20 years ago. He was employed at Casco Company, in Cardinal, where he worked for the past 25 years. He began as a general labourer and eventually apprenticed as an industrial mechanical millwright. He worked up until May 2004, when his illness prevented him from doing so. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and a variety of sports. He was a member of the CMP hockey club for several years. He enjoyed both playing and coaching baseball. He was a big fan of dirt track racing and spent many nights at the local tracks. His favourite race of the year was G.T. Automotive night at Brockville. He enjoyed spending time on the Liezerts' farm and could usually be found there any given Saturday. He took pride in his lawn and garden and spent many hours tending to both. Mr. DeJong is survived by his wife Barb and their daughter Kristine. Also surviving are his father Siebold DeJong of Maple View Lodge in Athens, two brothers, Bill DeJong of Brockville and Frank DeJong and his wife Elsie DeJong of Algonquin, and his sister Bea and her husband Don Wallace of Brockville, as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and his father-in-law. He was predeceased by his mother Jantje DeJong, his mother-in-law Leni Melbourne and his sister-in-law Linda DeJong. Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Cardinal, where on January 18 the funeral was held, with Rev. Patricia Swann of Pittston United Church officiating. Burial was at the Mainsville Cemetery. The pallbearers were Steve Liezert, Garry Tracey, Garnet Tracey, Carl Christie, Kevin Patrick and Chuck Melbourne. Honorary pallbearers were Brooke Melbourne and Chad Melbourne. Memorial donations to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care, St. Vincent de Paul site, were gratefully acknowledged by the family. Predeceased by her husband Bruce Lee Moore (1988) and two daughters Joan (1977) and Lorraine (2000). Born in Amherst Head, she was a daughter of the late Roy & Mabel (Crossman) Mason. BAINBRIDGE, Kenneth "Ken" Raymond - Peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital Scollard Site on Thursday, January 27, 2005 while in his 75th year. Kenneth "Ken" Bainbridge was the beloved son of the late Edgar and Tillie (Irwin) Bainbridge. Also predeceased by brothers Lorne and Murray. Loving brother of Beulah Cavanaugh of North Bay, Millie Baldwin (Roy) of Redbridge, Jack (Marion) of Redbridge, Hugh (Lois) of North Bay, Ellen Alderson (Vern) of Redbridge, Edgar (Millie) of North Bay and Jane Fawcette (Bill) of Redbridge. Ken was a long-time former resident of Four Mile Lake Road, moving into the Golden Age Centre in 1993. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and his many friends, especially the ladies at the Golden Age Centre. "Uncle Ken" will also be sadly missed by his great-niece Jenny, his adopted niece Amber, and cousin Florence Baldwin. Left to treasure her memory is her devoted husband of 50 years, Roger Sr. Bellefeuille. Cherished mother of Jane (the late Aimé Pilon) of Alliston; Carmen of North Bay, Pierrette (Gregory Stewart) of North Bay; Jim of Windsor; Roger Jr. (Charlene) of Field; Collette (partner Adolphe Wetu) of Ottawa; Suzanne of Toronto; Nicole (Adolphe Ankou) of Orléans; and Jean-Paul (Gisèle) of Chelmsford. She leaves a legacy of love to her 13 grandchildren: Claude, Yvon, Luc, Aimé Jr., Kara, Danielle, David, Michael, Nima, Dodji, Éli, Dayna and Dawn, and to her nine great-grandchildren: Gaston, Sylvain, Sierra, Jared, LaShaedon, Quinton, Brandon, MacKailey, and Michael Jr. Will be fondly remembered by her sister Carmain McQuabbie and her sister-in-law Mary-Ann Dokis. Predeceased by her father and mother, a daughter Florence; and her brothers and sister: Alex, Sylvester, St-Clair, Martina and Laurette. CORRIVEAU, Romance 1954-2005 À La Maison Aube-Lumière, le 20 jan-vier 2005, est décédée paisiblement ma-dame Romance Corriveau, épouse de Yves Brown, fille de feu Rhéa Drapeau et de feu Léo Corriveau, demeurant à Québec et autrefois de Sherbrooke. Afin de respecter les dernières volontés de madame Corriveau, il n'y aura pas d'ex-position. Elle laisse égale-ment sa belle-mère, Mme Anita Brown (feu Wilfrid Brown); ses beaux-frères: Gilles (Thérèse Grondin), Daniel (Ma-non Lacourse), André (Chantale Brown), Jacques (Pierre Desrocher); elle laisse également dans le deuil ses neveux, nièces, cousins, cousines, autres parents et amis. FRASER, Mary Olive (McIlwain) Peacefully in Alexandria, on Thursday January 27, 2005 Olive Fraser at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her parents John and Catherine (MacCrimmon) McIlwain. Beloved wife of the late William N. Fraser. Dear mother of five sons; Malcolm (Jean) of Williamstown, David (late Ruth) of Lochinvar, Gordon (Sandra) of Nepean, Neil (Sylvia) of McCrimmon and Alastair (Elizabeth) of Niagara Falls. Loving grandmother of Stephen, Ian, Cathy, Jennifer, Margaret, Andrew, Shona, Innes, Nigel, Fairley, Sarah and great-grandmother of Harrison and Riley. Also survived by her loving sister Ruth Embree of Vancouver. Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Edith Cotton and her brother Stanley.
