MORGAN, MABEL R. - The death of Mabel Morgan occurred at the SJRH on January 23, 2005 at the age of 75. It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing in Saint John. Mabel was born in Wicklow, NB and was the daughter of the late Russell and Elizabeth (Crawford) DeMerchant. She is survived by her partner Mark Nickerson, two daughters; Rosanne Stone of Fredericton, Charlotte Morgan of Saint John, three sons; Roy Allison Morgan (Darlene) of Summerville, Raymond Morgan (Diana) of Dartmouth, NS and Everett Morgan (Sally) of Glassville. Also granddaughter Lisa (Art) Nice of Saint John, Sister Mary Joseph of Winnipeg, Brothers; Roy DeMerchant of Bath and Perley DeMerchant of Oromocto as well as twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mabel was predeceased by one daughter; Shirley Wortman in 1977 and one brother Fred DeMerchant of BC. Resting at A. W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held in Cavanagh's Chapel on Wednesday January 26 at 10:00am followed by burial in Ocean View Cemetery. HOLYOKE - Joseph R. Beauchemin, age 81, of Holyoke, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Leeds. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late Adelard and Eva (Gauthier) Beauchemin, and was a graduate of Holyoke High School. Joseph was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked for many years for Sweet Life Foods, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Teamsters Local 559 of East Windsor, was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling at the Holyoke Bowl-O-Drome. Joe very much enjoyed knowing that his beloved Red Sox team won the World Series during his lifetime. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Marcella T. (Morin) Beauchemin, in 1994. Survivors include three sons, Leon M. and his wife Deborah of Westfield, Nelson J. and his wife Maralyn of Madison, CT, and Kevin D. Beauchemin of Holyoke; three brothers, Donald and his wife Irene of Chicopee, Maurice and his wife Florence of Chicopee, and Norman and his wife Norma of Michigan; his grandsons, Joseph W. Beauchemin of East Bridgewater, MA and Matthew J. Beauchemin of Westfield; many nieces & nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Rita Beauchemin. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St., followed by a Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. OBITUARY JINDRICH (HENRY) KAUFMAN Peacefully at the Montreal General Hospital on January 23, 2005 at the age of seventy-five. Beloved husband of Bozena (Beatrice) Balkova. Loving father of Tomas (his wife, Orla) and Andrea, Dear grandfather of Jindrich (Henry), Tomas, Nicolas and Meagan. Will be remembered by his relatives and friends. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and after surviving WWII and then communism, he immigrated to Canada in 1966 with nothing but his wife, son, a suitcase and a hope for a brighter future. Despite a plethora of medical problems, his indomitable spirit for life never abated. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a highly intelligent, kind, generous, respectful man with a great sense of humour. He led by example and was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren who loved him very much. A Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension of Our Lord Church (corner Sherbrooke Street West and Clarke), Westmount, on Wednesday January 26 at 2 p.m. Family will receive condolences at the church one hour prior to the Mass. WALLACE, Gerald (Gerry) 1916 - 2005 Passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2005 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife Ann and son Bill, daughter-in-law Brenda as well as three grandchildren; Erin (Mike) Penner, Lisa and Dan (Shannon) Bogdonov. He also has three wonderful great-grandchildren, Kailey and Maya Penner and Harltey Melamed. Loving brother of Kathleen Fitch of Windsor, Ontario. Gerry was born in Arnprior and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. He later moved to Sudbury working for Inco and was very active in the local sporting scene both as a player and an official. He married Ann Acheson in 1941. He and Ann moved to Ottawa in 1977 where his life was dedicated to playing and officiating baseball. His devotion to young adults in the sports arena was a driving force and a source of great personal satisfaction. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring, with details to follow at a later date. Gerry will be sadly missed. Douglas Crozier CHATHAM, ON - At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, on Monday, January 17, 2005, Douglas Crozier, age 86 of Chatham, husband of the late "Betty" Elizabeth (Foster) (2003). Born in Milestone, Saskatchewan in 1918, son of the late Helen McCleod and Gordon Crozier. Dear father of Anne Doher and husband Robert of Naples, Florida and Michael of Moncton, New Brunswick and cherished grandfather of Melissa Smith and husband Scott of Chicago and Steve Crozier and wife Charlene of Sarnia; also surviving are three step-grandchildren, Cheryl Doher of Chatham, Joseph Doher and wife Sheri of Orlando, Florida, Jeffery Doher and wife Sherry of Fort Myers, Florida; as well as seven greatgrandchildren, Cole, Tess, Gracie, Caleb, Justin, Faith and Madison. He is predeceased by a son, Douglas Jr. (2000) and by all his brothers and sisters. Doug was a veteran of WWII and did a four year tour of duty in Italy, England and Egypt to name a few of the places. When he returned home from the war, he joined the CIBC for the next 42 years retiring in Strathroy. He sat on the board for both the hospital and Anglican church. He was an avid curler, golfer and enjoyed bridge, but nothing pleased him more than a large gathering of family and friends at his beloved cottage in Kincardine. He will be greatly missed by all his family, however, never forgotten. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Krista L. MacLeod 1978 - 2005 Krista L. MacLeod, 26, of Moncton and formerly of Ontario, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 24, 2005. Born in London, on August 25, 1978. She is the daughter of Jim Rowe and Jill (Turner) Rowe. Krista was a graduate of Riverview High School. She was employed with MacArthur's Nursery on McLaughlin Dr., Moncton and was formerly employed with the Superstore in Riverview and Dewares in Moncton. Krista's friends will remember helping her have many adventures since the onset of her illness. Backpacking across Europe, travelling to Arizona, kayaking, skydiving and the "Wedding Gig". Krista was a great lover of plants, reading and writing. Her favourite holiday was Halloween when she created the most "interesting" parties and costumes. She especially enjoyed the local music scene, her 1971 Moped and riding the roller coaster. She touched everyone who met her. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Eric MacLeod; parents, Jim Rowe of Hanover, ON. and Jill Rowe of London, ON; maternal grandmother, Violet Turner of Johnson's Mills, NB; sister, Ashley Rowe of London, ON; niece, Brianna; local aunts, Judith and Ralph MacCheyne of Johnson's Mills, NB, Barb and Roman Kedzierski of Riverview, and by her cousin, Kate Cober (Steve) of Riverview as well as relatives in Ontario and by her many friends in our area. Mr. Lynden Vincent Bird January 26, 1923 - January 23, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Nanaimo) BIRD, Lynden Vincent Born in Calgary, Alberta on January 26, 1923, Lyn passed away peacefully at home on January 23, 2005. He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Mae (Naylor); his children, Lynda (Les Deacon), Tricia, Greg (Jennifer) and Susan. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Tai, Bret, Bryn, Shelby, Lindsay and Jamie, they were the light of his life. He also leaves his granddog, Kuma, whom he adored. Lyn will be fondly remembered by Mae’s sisters, Eleanor Verdone, Marg Kenny and Betty Ann Feltrin. Lyn served 25 years with the R.C.N. on both coast, as well as a three year post in London, England. In 1951 Lyn married May, the girl next door, in Nanaimo and they lived the next 13 years in Halifax, Nova Scotia and England. The family returned to Nanaimo in 1964. Lyn finished his working career with the BC Ferries on the Northern route. Lyn enjoyed golf and traveling. The family would like to thank Dr. Tod for the care and kindness he provided for many years, Dr. McCarter, BC Ambulance, Cst. Cory Lepine of the RCMP and Victim Services. BUXTON, PHYLLIS BARBARA (nee Craik) Phyllis Barbara (Craik) Buxton of Vancouver and Gabriola Island, BC, passed away on 14 January 2005 at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC, at the age of 75. She was the wife of the late J. Douglas L. Buxton (formerly of Minto, NB). Born in South Devon, NB, 28 March 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Irvine and Frances Ethel (Flieger) Craik of Fredericton, NB, and was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Union St., Devon. Phyllis moved with her husband and children to Vancouver in the early 1960s, and lived there for several years before retiring to Gabriola Island, BC. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, her family being her main concern. With her home daycare business, she was Gramma to many. Phyllis was a longtime member of Scouts Canada (39th South Hill) becoming the Assistant District Commissioner for Beavers and was honoured for her long years of dedicated service. She attended St. Mary (South Hill) Anglican Church, Vancouver. Her generous nature and outgoing personality won her many friends; she will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She is survived by daughter Catherine Dianne Lundgren (George), Nanaimo, B.C; son James Douglas Buxton (Judy), Maple Ridge, BC; five granddaughters: Julie Reid, Vancouver (with whom she made her home after the death of her husband); Jennifer Komen, Vancouver; Tanya Buxton and Christine Buxton, both of Maple Ridge BC; Diane Buxton, Squamish, BC; grandson Brian Bjornsson, Richmond, BC; great granddaughter, Amber Komen, Vancouver; one brother, James G. H. Craik (Olive), Lunenburg, NS; three sisters: Helen Furlotte, Oshawa, ON; Marie McNeill (Conrad), of Waterborough, NB; Carol Craik, Vancouver, BC.; sisters-in-law: Phoebe Craik, Newcastle, NB; Dianne (Teddy) Buxton Fenton, Moncton, NB; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four sisters: Joyce Newman, Vivian Weed, Rita Stafford and infant Ethel Craik; five brothers: William, Kenneth (Bud), George, Aubrey and infant Arthur Craik. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary (South Hill) Anglican Church, 808 E 50th Ave., Vancouver, on the 30th January 2005 at 2PM, conducted by the Reverend Dennis Morgan. Burial of ashes will be beside her late husband, Pioneer Cemetery, Gabriola Island, BC.

MASSON, JOHN F. John F. Masson of Lake George passed away January 23, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was born at Magaguadavic in 1946, a son of the late Frank and Helen (Holt) Masson. John was a pipefitter by trade and a member of Local 772 as well as a member of Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge in Harvey Station. John very much enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, bowling and four wheeling. John is survived by his wife, Judy A. (Currie) Masson; a daughter, Lori Hansen (Calvin), Lake George; a son, Chris Masson, Lake George; a sister, Jean Tucker (Roy), Deer Island; four grandchildren, Trusten and Hayden Hansen, Denise and Jake Masson; several nieces and nephews. SANFORD - Florence L. 'Lenore” Lavallee, 95, of Sanford, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at her home.Lenore, as she was know by many, was born on March 2, 1909 in Sanford. She was the daughter of George and Florence Moss McHugh. She attended local schools, and for a short period of time worked at the Goodall textile mills of Sanford as a weaver.Lenore was an avid Red Sox fan, and had here dream come true as the Sox won a World Series this past year. She enjoyed crafting, playing cards with her family, and doing the daily Jumble word puzzle. Her grandchildren were her inspiration, and love of her life. In the summer Lenore would wait with great anticipation for the bounty of fresh vegetables that would come from her son-in-law's garden.Predeceasing Lenore was her husband, Charles; a daughter, Beverly Garland; two brothers, George and Frank McHugh; and two sisters, Gladys McHugh and Maybell Tibbetts.Surviving is a daughter, Ann Fogarty and her husband Timothy of Sanford; a son, Thomas; a sister, Shirley Warren of Scarborough; seven grandchildren; eight great-grand- children; two great-great-grand- children, and several nieces and nephews.On Tuesday, Jan. 25, friends are invited to share in a period of visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will take place.To leave condolences please visit www.lafrancelambert.com.
