JOHNSTON, Joan Emily (nee Swetman) died peacefully in her 82nd year on November 10, 2004 in Abbotsford, BC. A long time resident of Manotick, Joan moved to Abbotsford in 1994. Predeceased by her beloved husband, John Johnston, her stepbrother Keith Parsons and stepsister Gwen Warden, Joan leaves behind her daughter Anne-Marie (Richard) Johnson and grandchildren, Nathaniel and Maija in Ottawa; brothers David (Alma) in Abbotsford and John in Regina; sister Marjorie (Don) Rembaugh in Seattle; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was a registered nurse and retired from the Children's Aid Society in Ottawa after many years as a supervisor. She was an active member of her parish and seniors community in both Ottawa and Abbotsford and will be remembered by her family and many friends for her kindness and generosity. Her grandchildren who arrived late in her golden years will especially miss her. The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the exceptional and caring staff at Menno Home in Abbotsford. To celebrate Joan's life, a memorial service will be held at 12 noon, November 27, 2004 at St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church (5332 Long Island Drive, Manotick). A reception in the church hall will follow. Her ashes will be interned beside her husband at Capital Memorial Gardens. In memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario would be appreciated. CRINION, David Ellis Died quietly at the Kingston General Hospital November 19, 2004 following a brief illness. Born in Oldham, England in 1927, David served 2 years in the military attaining the rank of Captain. David graduated from Liverpool University with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Architecture, and Masters Degree in Civic Design. Travelling on a Commonwealth Fellowship, David spent two years lecturing in various American universities, including the University of California, Berkley and M.I.T. Boston, before coming to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in Ottawa where he later became the Chief Architect and Planner, involved in the development of public housing projects across Canada. David is a past member of the OAA., TPIC and RIBA, and served on numerous committees in the National Capital. Also a long-time member of Britannia Yacht Club. Upon retirement in 1982, David moved to Kingston, Ontario where he was able to pursue his love of sailing. David is survived by his wife Ruth, and son Roger of Ottawa, Jonathan of Toronto, Diana of B.C. and Joanna of Smiths Falls and 6 grandchildren Stefan, Jennifer, Zoe, Cara, Shaan and Erin. David is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by his family and close companion and soul mate, Barbara Cass. At David's request, there will be no formal service. David "Dave" Lee O'Connell May 15, 1936 - November 20, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Dave passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital surrounded by family. Predeceased by his mother Mona, brothers Donald and Lee and sister Alice, and also first wife Elsie and children Cynthia, April and Shannon. Dave is survived by his wife Debbie; his sons Shane and Clay and his beloved grandson Andrew. He is also survived by his brother Dale and sisters Madeline, Pat and Linda. dave also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Dave was born May 15, 1936 in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. He eventually settled in Duncan in the early 1950's and started working for MacMillian Bloedel in the Shawnigan Division in 1956. He took a short break and returned to the Shawnigan Division where he retired in 2001. Dave was a kind and generous man with all people. He was always ready to lend a hand, especially with the elderly who seemed to hold a special place in his heart. He had a great fondness for one neighbour whom he helped for many years, Kate McKelvie. His log home on the water which he built and his miniature donkeys provided him with great comfort over the years. Later in life, Dave returned to his Catholic faith and was able to find peace within. A very special thanks to the staff at Cowichan District Hospital and also to the ICU staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated. A Funeral Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel in Duncan, BC on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. A tea will follow in Sands Arbor Reception Centre. JONES, NORMAN H. - It is with sadness we announce that the death of Norman H. Jones, beloved husband of the late Beatrice M. (Loster) Jones, and treasured companion of Grace Lynch, occurred on November 26, 2004, at the Loch Lomond Villa in his 84th year. Born at Oak Point, NB in 1921, he was the son of the late Ira D. and Eadie P. (Hamilton) Jones. Norman was a veteran of WW II, serving with the RCAF. He resided in Saint John most of his life. Norman began his career as a mechanic with Automotive dealers in Saint John from 1946-1950 and was subsequently employed by the City of Saint John, Maintenance Division for a period of 30 years, retiring as Mechanical Superintendent in 1981. Norman was a member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for several years, past Worshipful Master of Hibernia Lodge #3, F&AM, past treasurer of Local # 18 City of Saint John, former treasurer of the Glen Falls Gems Senior Citizens Club, past president of the City Market Senior Citizens Club, and a member of the City of Saint John Retirees Assn. Norman was an accomplished photographer, having won awards and prizes for his work over a span of 50 years. Norman's dry wit and keen sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his eldest son Wayne A. in 1978. He is survived by his son Iain N. and his wife Connie (Baker) of Halifax, NS, daughter Marion L. and her husband Glen Bain of Woodman's Point, NB, grandsons Cpl. Henry Badmueller PRESCOTT -- Henry Badmueller, 69, a native of Czechoslovakia, died November 8 at Brockville General Hospital. He was born Heinz Anton Badmueller on July 21, 1935 at Ash, Czechoslovakia, to Erich Badmueller and Betty Wilfert. He immigrated to Canada and worked as a supervisor in the textile industry and at Rehau Industries. His main interests were his home and family. Arthur “Pappy” Roy 1917-2004 The family announces with sorrow his death at the Extendicare Timmins Nursing Home on Thursday November 25, 2004 at the age of 87 years. Dear husband of the late Rita (nee Vieno) (1991) and dearest father of Doris (St.Louis) Perrier (Gilbert) and Lorraine Cotnam all of Timmins. MORRISON, Wilbur H. (Buck) - Resident Victoria Manor since 2000. Veteran W.W.II, Former owner of Morrison's Home Baking, Omemee, passed away peacefully in his 90th year on Thursday, November 25th, 2004 at Victoria Manor, Lindsay. Born, March 28, 1915 in Ribstone Alberta, son of the late Robert and Ida (Heasman). Predeceased by his wife Evelyn June (Hastings) in 1983. Loving father of Faye Spence (George), Verna Davidson (Hank), Don Morrison (Barb) all of Omemee and Jeannie McClacherty (Jim) of New Liskeard, Ontario. Cherished Papa of Gena and Kyla Spence, Tara Beard (Sheldon), Matthew and Raena Davidson, Stacey, Sara and Shauna McClacherty. Great-grandpa to Owen Beard. Predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth Clifford, Ethel Dack, Lillian Nelson and brothers Harry, Clarence, Allen and John Morrison. During his time in Omemee, Buck operated concession booths at the Lindsay Sale Barn, Devil's Elbow Ski Hill and catered to the Omemee Lions CLub. He served as a volunteer firefighter, and as a member of the Victoria County School Board. His experiences of youth on a farm in Alberta gave him lasting memory and happiness. Buck's family has greatly appreciated all the care and support, which was provided to him by the staff at his final home.
