CAMERON - Raymond Angus - On Thursday, May 6, 2004 Raymond Angus Cameron of Regina passed away at the age of 78 years. Pre-deceased by his parents, Robert Gordon Cameron and Rena Mae Cameron of Toronto ON. Raymond is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol; daughter Mindy Bond; grandson Ryan of Calgary; AB; son Donald (Kristen), and their children Liam, Joseph, Emma and Katherine of Yellowknife, NWT. Raymond was a member of 1st Canadian Airborne Battalion. He worked as a chef for the Federal Government at High Arctic Weather Stations, and in the restaurant industry throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan until retirement. Our many thanks for the compassionate care given Ray by staff of Units 3B and ICU at the Pasqua Hospital. Special thanks to the Leadership and Congregation of Grace Mennonite Church, 2935 Pasqua Street, where a CELEBRATION OF RAY'S LIFE will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow. Raymond Gray Lewis October 08, 1910 - November 14, 2003 Hamilton Gallery of Distinction -1992. After 63 years of Marriage, it is with great sadness that his wife, Vivienne, announces the peaceful passing of Ray, on Friday 14 November, in his 94th year at Henderson General Hospital. Son of the late Cornelius and Emma Lewis, he was born, raised and educated in Hamilton. Predeceased by a son, Anthony; brothers Victor and Howard, and a sister, Marjorie. He is survived by a niece, Marcia, of New York; nephews Charles of Massachusetts, and James of N. Y., and a multitude of grand and great nieces and nephews. He was a member of Stewart Memorial Church, Hamilton for over 90 years; was a Past Worshipful Master of Mt. Olive Lodge, #1, F. & A. M. (PH) Hamilton; a past M. W. Grand Master of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge. Prov. of Ont. & Que.; A 33 Degree Mason and Past Deputy, Orient of Canada, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, (PH); A Gold Achievement Awardee (2002); Past Patron of Esther Chapter #2 O.E.S. (PH) Hamilton; Life Member of Abu-Talib Temple #205 (PH) Shriners (A.E.A.O.N.M.S. Inc.); appointed as an order of Canada Member in 2000: was made a member of the Gallery of Distinction of Hamilton. In addition to his many athletic feats, he won a bronze medal for Hamilton and Canada in the 1932 Olympics held in Los Angeles, and was the first Canadian born black athlete to stand on an Olympic podium. In 1934 he won a silver medal in the British Empire Games in London, England, was presented to H.R.H. Edward, Prince of Wales, at St. James Palace. We are saddened to announce the passing of a dear husband, father, and Nonno. Beloved husband to Stella (DeMonte), and father of Dan and wife Mary, Dino and wife Maureen, and loving nonno to Jeff, Mark, Nicholas, and Andrew. Brother of the late Pietro, Romeo and late wife Evanna, Cinto and wife Gianna, all of Italy, and Egidio of Windsor. Douglas Lockhart It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on November 17th, 2003, at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 75 years. Doug will be greatly missed by his wife Beryl; children, Laurie, Janice (Dave) Whillans; daughter-in-law Angela Wilson; beloved grandchildren, Kyla and Brett Whillans and Aidan and Rowan Lockhart; sister Doris (Jack) Latter; sister-in-law Marilyn Lockhart; brother-in-law Garry Aldcorn; nieces, Carol and Sandra Latter, Linda Block, Leslie and Jody Aldcorn; and nephews Gord Latter, Gord and Jamie Aldcorn, Trevor and Ross Lockhart. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Mary Lockhart, his brother Ernie Lockhart and beloved son Cal Lockhart. Doug was born in Winnipeg on August 7th, 1928 and attended Isaac Brock and graduated from Daniel McIntyre School where he made many life-long friendships. He was an active member of Chalmers United Church, where he met and later married his wife Beryl in 1953. After moving to Fort Garry where they raised their 3 children, Doug continued his community commitments through coaching and leadership at Victoria Community Club and he sat on numerous committees at Fort Garry United Church. Doug’s love for his family was his greatest devotion. He immensely enjoyed his four grandchildren and always took the time to play with them and made each of them feel very unique. His humor, selflessness, strong convictions and joy of life made him a very special person. He was employed by the City of Winnipeg for 40 years, retiring as Superintendent of Tax Collection in 1987. His lengthy retirement allowed both of them the opportunity to spend winters in the south and summers at their treasured cottage at Lake of the Woods, where many lasting memories were formed. Doug loved the game of golf and he spoke fondly of his golfing buddies. He enjoyed curling at the Fort Rouge and Heather Curling Clubs. He faced his illness and tragic death of his son with marvelous courage and he never once questioned why he had been chosen for this fate; he instead inspired his family and friends, making it easier for us to cope with the outcomes. The family wishes to acknowledge the love, support and encouragement of his many relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. R. Hayward, Dr. Ritchie, Dr. Garcial and the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Center, 3E. A Memorial Service will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday November 22nd, 2003. Laila Redman (née Sturis-Sture) June 21, 1948 - February 07, 2002 Passed away peacefully, after a long battle with a brain tumour, at the William Osler Health Centre, Brampton, on February 7, 2002. Laila, beloved wife of Steve and loving mother of Adam. Dear sister of Gunta. Predeceased by her mother Alma. Daugther-in-law of Frank and the late Ann Redman. Dr. William R. Allaway April 25, 1940 - February 14, 2002 Passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital. William was a resident of Thunder Bay for over 30 years and a Professor of Mathematics at Lakehead University. He enjoyed skiing, swimming and running. He was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Julie Allaway (1998). He will be lovingly remembered by his four children David (Kazumi) of Toronto, Jennifer Allaway of St. Paul, Michael of Calgary, Jodi-Lynn Brager (Kerry) of Camrose, grandchildren Trishia and Emmy, two sisters Florence Strang (Bob) of Amherstburg, Muriel Newman (Bob) of Kingsville, sister-in-law Joan Kaupp (Jack) of St. Catharines and father-in-law Ken Wilmoth of St. Catharines.
