Joshua Raymond Barnes November 25, 2002 - December 16, 2002 After a valliant fight, Joshua was called home, at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto on Monday December 16, 2002. Joshua, aged 3 weeks, beloved first son of Aaron Barnes and Tabatha Holder. He will also be greatly missed by his great grandparents, Jeanne and Hugh Hagan, Wilfred Holder, his grandparents: Raymond and Cindy, Suzanne and Burgess. Debby and Rod, Doug and Mary, and by his aunts and uncles: Angela and Tom, Mallea and Paul and Nathan and their families. A private family service was held at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Dr. Kingston, on Friday December 20, 2002. Jordan Peter Haag March 26, 1986 - October 21, 2002 Tragically as the result of an accident, in Welland, on Friday, October 18, 2002. Jordan Peter Haag, of Welland, in his 17th year. Beloved son of Susan and Peter Haag of Welland and dear brother of Adam Haag at home. Beloved grandson of Norma Alsop of St. Catharines and the late Donald Alsop and the late Auguste and Otto Haag. Also loved by his aunt Doris Marilyn Haag of Niagara Falls, Alan and Janis Alsop of North Carolina and Beth and Mark Krupa of Prince Edward Island. Survived by his cousins Jennifer, Gordon, Hillary and Taylor. Jordan was involved in many school activities at Centennial Secondary School and a valued employee of Zellers since September 2001. Jordan will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family at Welsey United Church, 244 First Avenue North, Welland, on Tuesday, October 22nd from 1:00 p.m. until Service time at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Kim Wright officiating. Doris Cahill August 12, 1925 - January 22, 2002 After a short illness on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, at the age of 76. Beloved wife of Don, loving mother of Jim Cryderman and his wife Nancy of Lakefield, Debbie Dutton (Tim Crowley) of Stoney Creek, and Gregory Cahill of Toronto. Also survived by her sister Shirley McDougall of Kirkland Lake. Predeceased by her sister Myrle and brothers Sydney and Garwin. Mrs. Cahill is at the Patrick J. Richard John Dobbs December 24, 1948 - October 27, 2002 Suddenly at his home, on Sunday October 27, 2002, aged 53 years. Rick, beloved husband of Liz. Loving father of Matt of Kingston, Krista of Cambridge and Ryan of Brampton. Grandfather of Rylee Nicole Dobbs of Cambridge. Loved son of Mrs. Helen Dobbs of Brantford and the late Jack Dobbs. Dear brother of Jeff (Rose) of Burlington, Kirk (Lynda) of Pembroke, Susan of Brantford. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his father-in-law Laszlo Ratkai and his friend Doris Lloyd of Kingston, Brother-in-law Andrew Ratkai of North Bay. Dr. Samuel Joseph Dolin August 22, 1917 - January 13, 2002 Dr. Samuel J. Dolin passed away January 13, 2002. He leaves his loving wife Leslie, children Elizabeth & John, Kathryn & Guy, sister Brenda & grandchildren Phoebe & Josephine. As a highly respected composer/teacher, he contributed greatly to the musical life of this country. His 52 years at the Royal Conservatory, Toronto, produced many of today’s finest composers. As a composer his accolades include the distinguished Olympiad Award from Helsinki, 1952, where his Serenade for the Strings was the only North American composition performed. Special thanks to everyone at Huronia District Hospital, Toronto General Hospital & Hospice Huronia for their care. A private service was conducted by the Reverend Nina Fulford. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations to the Dr. Samuel J. Thomas Werner Laurie Davidson September 07, 1925 - May 11, 2004 - After a short yet valiant fight, passed away at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, Tom, age 78. Loving husband of Mabel. Dear father of Donna and husband Carl Bandow; grandfather of Dawn McKechnie and Andrea Bandow. Survived by his brother Douglas and sister Florence Millar. Predeceased by brothers Gordon, James and Bob, and by sisters Peggy (Margaret) Newton, Elsie Newton and Violet Morrice. Thomas was a trade union organizer, leader and an executive director of the United Electrical Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE). Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the L.G. Regina Desrochers (née Lussier) - February 10, 1919 - May 31, 2004 Peacefully, on May 31st, 2004, Regina passed away at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, at the age of 85 years. Regina is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, René, and her children Marie-Jeanne Gamache (Harvey), Florence Bouchard (Claude), Armand Desrochers (Bev), Henriette Ballinger (Eric), Angèle Desrochers-Emond (Bryan), Irène Maynard (Robert), Solange Friesen (Ron), and Gilles Desrochers (Diana). She was predeceased by her first husband Henri in 1980 and her son Lucien in 1989. Regina will be remembered for her “golden heart”. She dedicated her life to her family and was always fond of telling others about the joys and rewards of having a “big family.” She welcomed and cherished each new grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild with an open and loving heart. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their kindness and care. Prayers will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 04 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Eunice Joan Doyle (née Edkins) - April 28, 1922 - May 25, 2004 - passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2004. Born in London, England on April 28, 1922. Eunice was predeceased by her loving husband Howard in 1985, her oldest brother Edmund (Teddy) in 1998 and her parents Edmond and Rosina. Eunice was an English war bride and with her husband and son came to Canada in 1953 and settled in Shawnigan Lake where she remained all her life. Eunice had one thing that she adhered to all her life, and that was her family; she was unswerving in her love, loyalty and protection of them; her devotion was complete and she will be missed as we try to fill the hole left by her passing. Eunice is survived by her son Alan Edkins (Karen); grandsons Michael and Kevin (Tara); great grandchildren Jacob, Crystal, Kayley, Jackson and Austin; also brother Eric of London, England. Margaret "Babs" Legg Ferrari (née Robertson) - July 10, 1922 - May 11, 2004 - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children: Anthony (Tony), Jack (Linda) of London, Ontario, Angela (Ian) MacDonald of Richmond, B.C., and Diana; grandchildren: Gina, Andrew, Eric, Alastair, Remo, Michael, Nicholas, Patrick, Theresa and Christopher as well as great grandchildren Philip, Thomas and Isabella. She was predeceased by her much loved grandson Tony. Babs was a strong, independent person who had a fierce love for family and friends. Her long career as a nurse at the University Hospital earned her much respect and admiration and also allowed her to form many long lasting friendships. Her many years of volunteer service after her retirement is indicative of her dedication and caring nature. The family would especially like to express their heartfelt thanks to June Neufeld for her devoted friendship and loving support. Cremation has taken place. Antonia Ricci Loving Wife, Mother and Nonna RICCI – ANTONIA, passed away peacefully into her eternal rest with her Lord at the age of 64 on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. She is predeceased by her parents Paolo (1963), Adelaida (1999), brother Giovanni (2002). Leaving to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Nicola and her children Maria (Randy) Palmer of Regina, Tilda (Allen) Faye of Regina, Ida (Gerald) Pacholik of Regina, Jimi (Noelle) Ricci of Medicine Hat, Angela Ricci (Orrin Cameron) of Calgary, and her grandchildren Nicolas, Lucas, Adriana Faye, Charity, Michael, Devin, John Pacholik, Antonia, Milena, Livia, Lorenzo Ricci. She is survived by her brothers Sesto (Lucia) Ricci of Regina, Michele (Santina) Ricci, Gino (Giacomina) Ricci, and sisters Maria (Mario) DiSimone, Lucia (Pierino) DiFlaviano, Giselda (Luciano) DeSolis all of Italy as well as in-laws Biagio (Giacinta) Ricci and Mario (Mary) Ricci of Regina, Filippo (Giacinta) Ricci, Giovanna (Rodolfo) DiMedoro, Anna (Felice) DiMedoro all of Italy and numerous nephews and nieces in Canada and Italy. Antonia was born in Italy and came to Canada in 1958. She married her sweetheart Nicola, who arrived in Canada a year earlier, and together they started their new life in Regina. They raised their children in a loving and nurturing home where good food, love, laughter and happiness were always in abundance. Antonia took great pride in her family and was a devoted wife, mother, nonna and friend. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched many. Her memory will be cherished forever. Anna is survived by her 3 sons, Rudy, Bob and Ric, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and was predeceased by her loving husband Paul and 2 daughters, Anita and Katie. She immigrated to this country with her 2 brothers in 1929, soon married Paul, and settled in Rossland B.C. where they started their family, later moving to Edmonton in 1947. Her family was her life and she was a very loving mother. A Funeral Service for Anna will be held at 10 AM Thursday May 20 at South Side Memorial Chapel (8310 – 104 Street). Beloved husband of Antonia. Loving father of Nicola and Nina Savocchia and Maria Savocchia. Proud and adoring Nonno of Louise. Devoted son and son-in-law of the late Tiodoro and Amalia Savocchia and the late Giovanni and Crescenza Carrara. Dearest brother and brother-in-law of Maria and the late Dante Tucci, Rosaria and the late Uco Rugiero of Italy, Enio and Vittoria Savocchia of the U.S.A., Caetano and Franca Carrara, Donato and Anna Carrara, Vittorio and Erichetta Carrara, Anna and Santino Scampoli, Lina and Gio Saieta all of Australia. Antonio will be sadly missed by his in nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, the U.S.A., Australia and Italy. Grace Fowler May 17, 1923 - April 14, 2004 Grace Fowler passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Grace is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 62 years, Campbell; sons, Serle (Sheryl), Goldie (Lyn); grandchildren Harlan (Lisa), Richard (Nicole), Christyanne; great-grandchildren Dawson, Peyton, Brandt; her sister Jessie of Brandon; brothers-in-law, Sandy, Edwin (Eileen), Sid (Marge); sisters-in-law, Verna, Evelyn, Trudy of Winnipeg, and Bernice and Lois of Brandon; and numerous nephews and nieces across the country. Grace was born on May 17, 1923, and was raised and educated in Elphinstone, MB, the youngest of ten children. She volunteered with the Red Cross during the war and married Campbell on July 19, 1941. After Dad’s return from overseas, they took up residence in Winnipeg. Grace was a wife, mother and homemaker all of her life. She became an active member in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 117 - Gen Sir Sam Steele Legion as a member of the Colour Party, Poppy Campaign, as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a member in the Dart League. In her younger years, Mom enjoyed camping and fishing, and Friday night dances at the Legion. During her later years, Mom always enjoyed get-togethers with her family at those special times of the year. During the past few years, Mom became almost house-bound because of poor health. A special thank you to the Winnipeg Fire Department and Paramedics that worked so hard trying to revive Mom. As per Mom’s request, a private family graveside service has taken place. Albert E. Robichaud April 29, 1938 - April 19, 2004 The death of Albert Robichaud, 65, Edmond Street occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Monday, April 19th, 2004 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in St. Charles NB, April 29th,1938, he was the son of the late Placide and Sylvie (Chevarie) Robichaud. Albert resided in Moncton for over 50 years, was employed as an industrial construction mechanic, and owner and operator of A&G Bakery Equipment Ltd. He was a very active member of Parish Notre Dame de La Paix, a devoted member of The Knights of Columbus 4th degree, past Grand Knight and an active Member of Council 11985. He loved his grand kids, playing cards, his garden, and his tractor. Albert is survived by his wife of 45 years Mathilda (Doucette) Robichaud, sons, Paul (Audrey) of Moncton, Guy, Monteagle, Gaston, of Moncton, daughters, Liette Collier (Ivan) of Colpitts Settlement, Janice Robichaud (Terry Chiasson) Lutes Mountain, Josette Robichaud, (Robert Wheatly) Maryland, USA, 5 grandchildren, Amanda & Shannon, Gary & Karyn, and Anthony. Also surviving, his special mother-in-law Yvonne Doucette, several brothers; Azade, Zoel, (Therese) of Montreal, Ben (Aggie) Roger (Diane)of Truro, Vital (Norma), Camille, (Lorraine) Sylvio (Claudette) of Moncton, Ernest (Dora) of St.-Paul, sisters; Venolia Fontaine (Arcade) St- Louis, Placidie Kelly (Jean-Paul LeBlanc) François Coster, (Kenney) of Moncton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Robert "Bob-Rob" Helmsing - February 21, 1948 - May 21, 2003 - Staff Sergeant with the R.C.M.P. Retired , S/SGT. R.F. HELMSING 2000 Dearly beloved husband of Colleen and father of Anthea, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2003, with family by his side, at the age of 55 years, in Regina, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his father Walter, in 1984, son Shaun in 1999, Colleen’s parents: Dick and Olive Sprout, as well as sister-in-law Linda Sprout, and brother-in-law Michael Sprout of Zimbabwe. Bob’s memory will be forever cherished by his family; loving wife Colleen of 31 years and daughter Anthea both of Regina, Sk.; mother Evelyn of Assiniboia, Sk.; brothers Hewitt (Gay) of Victoria, BC; and Rick (Joan) of Regina, SK, sister Lynne (Fuzz) Furry of Assiniboia, SK, sister-in-law Anthea (Colin) Green of England, as well as many other family, extended family of the R.C.M.P. and friends. Bob attended Albert School and Scott Collegiate in Regina, SK. In February of 1967, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and served in Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and the North West Territories. He retired with the R.C.M.P. in 2000, following 32 years of active service. Bob and Colleen met on Baffin Island of the NWT. Both demonstrated the initiative, integrity, and bold adventurous spirit of true arctic explorers while serving the needs of people in the far north. An unlikely romance began, and they became man and wife on April 29, 1972 in Salisbury, Rhodesia. They were blessed with a son Shaun, and daughter Anthea. Bob was a man of honesty and integrity, always prepared to help his fellow man. He enjoyed the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends in his R.C.M.P. family. A SERVICE TO CELEBRATE BOB’S LIFE will be held on Saturday May 24, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Regina Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Cooper officiating, eulogist Corporal Garth Cunningham and readings by Hewitt Helmsing. A time of reception and sharing will follow the service in the Arbor Room. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, a private family service has been held at the R.C.M.P. Chapel and a family interment has taken place in the R.C.M.P. Cemetery. Special thanks to family physician and friend, Dr. David Road, Dr. Lawrence Clein, our cousin Harriet Greenhow and to all the wonderful and kind staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital. Richard Wilbert Steinke, Sr. Peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Richard Steinke Sr. passed away at the age of 77. Mr. Steinke was predeceased by his beloved wife Elsie Steinke, his parents and brother. He is survived by his daughter Erica Moar, sons; Richard (Linda) and Wesley (Jackie), and grandkids.
