LISTER, Marilyn Jane (nee Jeckell) Marilyn died peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in her 67th year. Beloved wife, best friend and soulmate of Bruce. Loving dedicated mother of Stephen (Molly Rundle) of Toronto, Graham (Sandra Thompson) of Ottawa, Jane of Vancouver, and Matthew (Susan Radin) of West Lafayette, Indiana. Cherished granny to Jonathan, Adam, Emily, Benjamin, Anna and Zoe. Dear older sister of the late Frances "Bonnie" (Murray Crozier and their children Angela, Ian and Carrie). Marilyn had an extraordinary gift for friendship. Her high school years were at Elmwood and Lisgar in Ottawa, followed by Trinity College (St. Hilda's), University of Toronto, where she took Household and Nutritional Science. She was an empathetic, tireless, volunteer educator and community leader for decades, in activities ranging from breakfasts before school for under-privileged children; to co-founding the Bernese Mountain Dog Association of Canada; sharing consumer information on the CJOH morning show; playing the organ at St. Stephen's Anglican church, Kazabazua; volunteer co-ordinating for the Hopewell and Elizabeth Fry Societies; and the presidency of the Consumers Assocation of Canada. Her generous spirit and wise counsel will also he greatly missed by friends in Larrimac, Chelsea and the Beaverlost cottagers near Venosta, Quebec. Friends may visit at the McGarry Memorial Chapel, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 3rd at Wakefield's Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd at 11 a.m., followed by internment at Maclaren's Cemetery, Wakefield. With great relish I savoured every cherry in the bowl and every chocolate in the box just a little to quickly but each and every one was delicious. I leave behind the greatest friend and companion any man could ask for. My princess, my loving wife Janet, who made every day of our union the very best imaginable. Charles-Eugène Houde Né à Sherbrooke, le 17 août 1912, il est élevé à la prêterie par le cardinal Villeneuve. Jeune, il enseigna au Collège de Lévis durant trois ans. Ensuite, il fût vicaire à St-Henri de Lévis et 3 autres années de vicariat à Ste-Perpétue-de-l’Islet. En 1950, il fût nommé vicaire à Beauceville. En octobre 1956, le voici vicaire à St-Pascal de Québec et en moins d’un an, il obtient sa première cure, celle de St-Philibert où il y resta pendant six ans. En octobre 1962, il est nommé desservant puis curé-fondateur de la nouvelle paroisse Ste-Famille de Tring-Jonction. En octobre 1967, il revient à Beauceville à titre de curé où il s’occupa longtemps des Chevaliers de Colomb, Filles d’Isabelle, Scouts, organisations sportives. À la Résidence Cardinal-Vachon de Beauport, le 27 juillet 2004, à l’âge de 91 ans et 11 mois, est décédé M. Charles-Eugène Houde, fils de feu M. Alphonse Houde et de feu dame Rosilda Laliberté. Il demeurait à Beauport. La famille recevra les condoléances à l’église de Beauceville samedi à compter de 9h. John Eric (Andy) Anderson June 21, 2004 Anderson - In memory of our brother John Eric (Andy) Anderson who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. In St. Paul Minnesota on June 21, 2004 with his wife Jan by his side. He leaves behind to remember him with joy sister Janey Arevalos (Anderson) and family, brother Pat Coughlin & family, Marlene Haskins & family (sister) Michael Coughlin, (brother) Best friend Jimmy Goodman. He was predeceased by his brother Arvid his father John his mother Dorothy Hosick and step father Bert Hosick. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 15 years, worked at Adams Mine for 10 years. He was cremated as was his wishes and his remains were taken to Kamloops BC for a service with his children Kim, Lynn, John, Allan and friends held a celebration of his life. MAYMAN, Dr. Abe B., M.D., C.M. Peacefully and with dignity, at the age of eighty-five, at home on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 surrounded by his loving family. After receiving his medical degree from McGill University in 1947, he specialized in internal medicine. During almost half a century of practice, Abe was associated with several hospitals and served on many medical boards and societies. Since 1950 and until his retirement from practice, Abe was on staff of the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital while carrying on a very active private practice. He was particularly proud of his role as teacher and for many years was an assistant professor of medicine at McGill University. Abe's passion was medicine, and medicine was his life. He became known for the qualities that made him a beloved physician - his brilliance, his devotion, his compassion, and especially his humanity. In 1985 a chair and foundation in family medicine was created in his name at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, in Israel. It will serve as a perpetual memory of his life's career and dedication. To those who knew him, Abe was Physician and mentor; healer and friend. A man of varied interests, Abe was both a musician and painter; in music and song he gave expression to his joy for life. Beloved and devoted husband of Esther (Skarf). Deeply cherished father and father-in-law of Julie and Michael Garonce, Valerie and Ellis Morris, Marilyn Mayman, Dr. Barbara Mayman and Eric Nichols. NEWLAND, Mary Jean 78 years, Tuesday July 27, 2004 at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa. Daughter of Walter Francis Allore and Gertrude Claire Hughes and sister of the late Dr. Robert Allore. She is survived by Robert Newland and his children Everett and Graham, Stratford; James Newland and his wife Jo-Anne and their children Jeffrey and Sheilagh, Toronto; Claire Forman and her husband Greg and their children Liam, Kate and Tess, Ottawa. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Jean completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a teaching certificate from the Ontario College of Education. She taught for several years at the Leamington District High School. After marrying Donald Newland, she devoted herself to her family but remained active in the community as a member of the Catholic Women's League and Beta Sigma Phi. She also volunteered for many organizations including the Canadian Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and the Foot Care Clinic. Jean was an avid bridge player known for her ability to draw lousy cards. She was also well known as a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess. Among her many social skills, she possessed an ability to put people at ease and instantly convert strangers into lifelong friends. Above all, she valued her family, providing her husband and children with a stable, extraordinarily loving home. Her family and friends will miss her vibrant conversation, her unreserved caring and compassion and her perfect pumpkin pie.
