BUSSEY, GRETA FAYE At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, Greta Faye Bussey, 89 years of age. Survived by her daughter Flora Leaman of Chipman, granddaughter Angela Leaman of Chipman, grandson Mark (Angela) Leaman of Fredericton, great granddaughter Tara Bishop if Chipman, by sisters Agnes Smith of Chipman, Doris Campbell of Montreal, Elizabeth Day of Chipman, Lorna Valentinsen of Lethbridge in Alberta and Marlene Buchanan of Chipman. Predeceased by her husband Thomas Bussey and by 11 brothers and sisters. Resting at the Chipman Funeral Home, until Saturday, March 20, 2004 when funeral service will be held from the Second Chipman United Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Dunnett officiating. DONAHEE, MABEL KATHALEEN The death of Mabel K. Donahee of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, March 17th, 2004 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mina (McCongehy) Valentine. She was a member of Grace Memorial United Baptist Church, and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Auxiliary. She worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until retiring in 1976. She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Lois of Plano, Texas; three granddaughters, Kelly (Clint) McNeff, Katie (Matt) Garth and Christie all of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Helen Valentine of Kanta, Ontario; three nieces, Heather Waugh, Francine Barrett, of Kingston, Ontario, and Robin Golding of Ottawa; four nephews, Danny Owens of Kingston, Ontario, Robert Drysdale of Chatham, Ontario, Wayne Drysdale of Bathurst, NB and Chris Valentine of Ottawa and several cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marguerite Owens and Jean Drysdale; two brothers, Donald (Andy) Valentine and Francis Blake Valentine who passed away in January 2004; three nieces, Sheila Poirier, Kim Valentine and Marion Groundwater. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Friday, March 19th, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 Auxiliary will hold a tribute service at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at 11:00 am. Rev. Doug Hapeman officiating with Rev. Bob Malcolm assisting. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later date. PETERS (Paraskevas), Maria nee Louros Passed away quietly in her sleep on March 18, 2004 at the age of 90. Maria is survived by her loving family: daugher Magdalene Peters (Georgiades), grandsons George Georgiades, Andrew & Caroline Georgiades and great-grandson Philippe; son Alexander and Deborah Peters, granddaughter Cindy & Andre Fortier, grandson Anthony Fedoryk. Maria arrived in Canada from her island in Greece, Kastellorizo, to marry George in 1940 and spent the majority of her life in Ottawa being very active with the Greek Community and Church. HENNIGER, Ella Blanche, PhD. - On 16th March 2004 at Smiths Falls, Ontario. She was born on 24th August 1911, in Valleyfield, Quebec, the third child and only daughter of Erven and Bessie (Pineo) Hennigar. She married James Perry Henniger on 12 October 1935 in Upper Kennetcook, Nova Scotia. Theirs was a long, loving, and remarkable partnership. Perry died on 13 July 1990. She is survived by her brother Graham Hennigar of Hildon, Nova Scotia, her children Jim (Isabel Pilkington), Susan (Alen Clarke), Ross (Gay Carroll), and Martha; her grandchildren Peter (Glenda MacAlpine), Rachel (Billy Knapp) and Matthew Henniger, Perry (Kim Carnesale) and Sarah (Terry Goulah) Clarke, Michael (Catherine Link), and Jo (Glenn Rigby) Henniger, Ford Henniger; and her great grandchildren Jake Byrne, Colin and Grace Knapp, Ella and one yet unborn Rigby. She glorified in the arrival and nurturing of all her children, grandchildren and recently great grandchildren and often quoted her mother, "We're all a-worshipping at the baby". Raised in Halifax, she graduated from Dalhousie and taught elementary school. She moved to Smiths Falls on her marriage and, as well as raising her children, was Chairman of the local High School Board, a founder and active supporter of the Smiths Falls Little Theatre, and an executive board member of the Dominion Drama Festival. She gained an M.A. and, at 72, a PhD in English from Queen's University. And last, but not least, in 1999 caught that "6 lb." bass. Cloée Ouellette À l’Hôpital régional d’Edmundston, le mercredi 17 mars 2004, Cloée Ouellette est décédée au moment-même de sa naissance. Elle était fills d’Aurèle Ouellette et de Brigitte Bérubé de Saint-André. Elle a été précédée par une soeur, Karine. SYBIL ANN CUNNINGHAM (NEE CRAIG) 1924 - 2004 Cunningham - It is with sadness that relatives and friends of Sybil Cunningham announce her passing at the Kirkland & District Hospital on Tuesday, March 16th, 2004 . Mrs. Cunningham is predeceased by her parents; John and Ida Craig; late husband Arthur, daughter Donna Smith, son Wayne and her sister Elma Joy. Sybil leaves to mourn her daughter Judith (Jim) Faulkner, her wonderful grandchildren; Jason and Skye Cunningham, Chris and Todd Smith, Kelly, Lisa and Joe as well as many great grandchildren. She also leaves her caring sisters; Inez Riel, Shirley Switzer and Gwen Frazer. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive Sybil. Mrs. Cunningham always remained devoted to her family. BERNADETTE D’AVIGNON Peacefully, on March 16, 2004, our dear Mother, Bernadette D’Avignon, aged 94 years, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. Mom is survived by her sons Ray (Pat) and Maurice (Barb); daughters Dora Pambrun, Amanda Dawson, Pat D’Avignon, Doris Perrin, Jeannette (Harry) Roytenberg, and Ilaine Dymont; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Irene Michon, Alice Kulczycki, and Flo Young. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edouard D’Avignon in 1966 and her son Jerry D’Avignon in 1999. Our memories of a loving and devoted Mother will always remain in our hearts. Lucien will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend of 62 years, Laura. POWELL, Robert Montagu In Brockville, Ontario on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in his 90th year. Beloved husband for 65 years of Louise Dewar Powell. Cherished father of Susan (Thomson) and Mayo (Graham), both of Ottawa. He also will be greatly missed by grandchildren Martha Joslin, Robert Thomson, Ana and Zoe Yuristy. Eldest son of the late M. Grant Powell and Aurelia C. Hughson (Rockcliffe Park). Attentive brother to Anne (Toronto) and the late Hugh and Alan. Bob graduated from Trinity College School, Port Hope, from the Royal Military College, Kingston (Head Cadet B.S.M. 1934-35), and from the University of Toronto. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 until the end of WWII, latterly as Commanding Officer of the HMCS Belleville. He was employed as a chemical engineer with CIL/DuPont Canada for more than thirty years in Shawinigan, Montreal, Windsor, Texas and Brockville. A gentle-man of integrity, generosity, wry wit, intelligence and strength, he believed in honouring the natural environment and providing for those less fortunate. These acts of belief and kindness will be remembered in his work with St. Peter's Church, Sherwood Park Manor, the CNIB, the United Way, conservation authorities and environmental groups in the Brockville area. Bob passed on to his children and grandchildren his love of nature and adventure. He lived a truly selfless and courageous life, most recently in supporting his dear wife through this past decade of her loss of memory. Bob's family is grateful to the wonderful staff of St. Lawrence Lodge for their care and kindness. RIP A celebration of his life will be held at one o'clock Saturday, March 20 at St. Peter's Anglican Church (corner of Pine and Park Streets, Brockville).
