WALTON, JOHN E. (BUDDY) - The death of John Edwin (Buddy) Walton of Prince Edward Square and formerly of Spar Cove Road, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Shirley (Elliott) Walton, occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late William and Mary Ann (McCauslin) Walton. John was employed with the Port of Saint John as a stevedore. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the Seniors' Drop-In Centre, Saint John City Market. John was survived by one son, Mark Thomas Walton; two brothers, Alphonse Walton (Diane) and Jack Walton of Saint John; one sister, Connie (Robert) Creamer; of Saint John; one grandson, Matthew Brendan Walton and his mother, Wanda Joyce White, both of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Billy and Jimmy; and five sisters, Marion, Doris, Gladys, Frances and Corine. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2003 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street at 12 Noon. Peacefully, at home in Vancouver on Nov. 12, 2003, at the age of 86. Stan is survived by his wife Jean (ne Moore), his daughter, Sherry Firing, his son, Bruce Harfield, his son-in-law Jack Kirchhoff and daughter-in-law Penny Harfield, and grandchildren Robert Firing, Jason Firing, Andrew Harfield, Tim Harfield and Jeanne Harfield, as well as his nephews Frank and Greg Whitson, his nieces Lianne and Shannon, and Frank's wife Dianna. He was delighted this sumêmer at the birth of his first great-grandson, Ruben, to Jason and Helen Firing. Stan was a loving husband, father and grandfather (and great-grandfather), a stickler for language, a gardener and an inveterate practical joker, whose wicked sense of humour will be sorely missed. Born in Vancouver on Nov. 4, 1917, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force before the Second World War and served as a communications and radar specialist in Britain, where he met and married Jean. After retiring from the Air Force in the early 1960s, at the rank of Squadron Leader, Stan returned to university and graduated from the Thomas Moore Institute in Montreal. He and Jean then moved back to Vancouver, where he attended the University of British Columbia and enjoyed a second career as a teacher at Delta Secondary School, specializing in government and law, from 1968 to 1981. At Stan's request, there will be no public service.

Foster, Hilliard LEE July 16th, 1913 - November 13th, 2003 Lee, in his 91st year, was called home to be with His Lord, at Bradford Valley Nursing Home, with his family by his side. Lee was predeceased by his wife Angela, and his sister Barbara Ross. He is survived by his brother Doug and wife Mary Jean of Bracebridge and their families. Lee was a member of Bethel Community Church and was a dear friend of Brian and Cheryl Fotherby and much loved grandpa of Amy, Elliott, Alden, and Emerson Fotherby. Zenon Bellavance (April 20th, 1915-November 12th, 2003)It is with deepest sadness that the family announces the death of Zenon who passed away at the Timmins & District Hospital in the Long Care Unit on Wednesday, November 12th, 2003, at the age of 88 years. PRATT, PERCY BAKER (PETE) After a journey of 88 years Pete went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 14, 2003. he was predeceased by his beloved wife Rae (O'Donnell) in 1995, his parents Alexander and Bertha (Bulmer), his brothers Willie, Irvine, Nathan (Tad) and Porter, his sisters Jean (Babcock), Isobel (Whitman), Thelma (Downs), Bertha (Copeland), Bernice (Targett), Helen Pratt and Gracie Pratt. His sister Margaret Downs and sister-in-law Nan Pratt reside in Campbellton and he leaves many nieces and nephews. Surviving are his daughter, Susan and her husband Gareth Christie, his cherished grandchildren; Travis and his wife Diane (MacGregor), Pamela and her husband Benson Colpitts, his great grandchildren Alana, Isaac and Joshua Colpitts, all of Fredericton, NB. His blue eyes always sparkled when they were around him and he chuckled at his great grandchildren's endearing name for him, Frappy Pete. Peter served as a locomotive engineer with the RCE during World War II, transporting people and supplies throughout Europe. Peter retired as a CNR engineer in the mid 70's and remained active and interested in his church, gardening, woodworking and community activities for many years. He was a member of the First United Baptist Church in Campbellton, The Royal Canadian Legion, the Orange Lodge, the Masonic Lodge and the "Downstairs Boys". He sought to pattern his life after the Bible verse found in James 4:17. He moved to Fredericton in 2001, where he resided in the Veterans Health Facility and had a special camaraderie with other veterans and the caring staff, ever ready for the cribbage game, a quote from poet Robert Service and a good cup of hot tea. A graveside committal service will be held in the summer of 2004 in Campbellton, NB. On Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Ottawa Heart Institute, Bob Pooley, age 87, passed away peacefully, with his cherished wife Irene and daughter Janet Secord (Tim) by his side. Loving father of son Rick (Hilda) of Burns Lake, BC and grandchildren Nellie Davis, (Steve) and Allison Pooley of Victoria, & Joanna Pooley of Burns Lake, Erin & Scott Secord of Ottawa. Survived by sister Margaret Harris (Les, deceased). Predeceased recently by brother George (Joan Carter) of Ocean Park, BC. Deeply missed by sister-in-law Muriel Gay, brother-in-law Gordon Gay (Edwina), nephew Jim Harris (and daughter Siobhan), niece Olwen Harris, dear friend John Moe and countless other treasured friends. During his long and very active life, Bob lived out his Christian values through his work with the Red Cross, his association with his church, the West Vancouver Seniors Choir and Centre, and his long career as a teacher and administrator for the North Vancouver School Board. Bob was instrumental in establishing the North Vancouver Teachers Association and was one of its first presidents. His deep and abiding love for his wife and family will always remain, as will his pride and delight in his grandchildrens' accomplishments. He treasured his community, his many colleagues, his neighbours, his music, his cars and his dogs. He will be deeply missed. A private family service will be held in West Vancouver. Those who wish to remember him are invited to make a donation to a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.

MILLER, MARGARET EILEEN The death of Margaret Eileen Miller (Currier) of Oromocto, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, November 14th, 2003. Born in Oromocto, NB she was the daughter of the late Waldo and Nina (Kimball) Currier, and the wife of the late Douglas Miller. Margaret was the last surviving member of the Currier family. Survived by two daughters, June Miller-Stewart (Murray) and Brenda Liston (James); seven grandchildren, Heidi, Philippa, Rebecca and Mandy Liston, Jonathan , Jessica and Kendall Byers. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Doug, brothers, Ralph and Neil; one sister Edna Carr. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Blandford and the staff of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Emergency Room and the staff of Mountainside Lodge for the kindness, support and care given to Margaret and her family. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Saturday, November 15th, 2003 from 25 pm. The funeral service will he held at Oromocto United Church on Sunday, November 16th, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Margie Patterson will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery. PROSSER, LENA M. - At St. Joseph's Hospital, on Friday, November 14th, 2003; Lena Mildred Prosser of Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ann (Miller) Jennings. Lena was a member of St. Judes Anglican Church and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69. Lena is survived by her son Garry Prosser (Judy) of Red Head, daughter Elaine Brown (David) of Hampton, sister Lorna McCluskey of Saint John, grandchildren Randy, Jackie, Richard, Robin, Rebecca and three great grandchildren. Lena was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Frank, Art, Allen, Bill, Lilla Lee, Vera Kane, Eleanor James and Dorothy Connor. Lt. (RCNVR) (nee Cambridge) Passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, November 8, 2003, in her 90th year. Muriel Robinson was born in Montreal, graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital, Thunder Bay, nursed at the Montreal Neurological Institute and later served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Nursing Sister (1943-44) at HMCS Donacona, HMCS Stadacona and at Point Edward. She played the organ, taught music (the piano) and, until her death, remained a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association and the Royal Canadian College of Organists, the Nursing Sisters Association (Ottawa Unit), the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, and the Canadian Nurses Association. She was also a member of the HMCS Bytown Wardroom. She remained independent to the last, enjoying her cooking and baking. Widow of the late Frederick W. Robinson of Kentville, Nova Scotia, and predeceased by her sister Maye Oakley, Muriel is survived by her nephew Ernest Oakley and his wife Doreen of Thunder Bay. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. Private interment in Kentville, Nova Scotia.

URQUHART, JOAN A. - The death of Joan Ann (Fox) Urquhart of Centennial Drive, Saint John, NB, occurred on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Inez (Nason) Fox. Joan was employed with the Saint John Marina as manager and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 25 years. She is survived by five brothers; Jim (Joan), Wesley (Betty), Gary (Ros), Steve, Andy (Rossann) all of Saint John, special great-niece Kari Harvey and her son Dustin Pitre, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by three brothers Raymond, George and Donald. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, (506-634-7425). On October 1, 2003, passed away Anna Cattaruzzi, widow of Ernesto Sassano, at the age of eighty-nine years old. She is survived by her loving son, Giampaolo Sassano and her daughter-in-law Gina Bruno-Sassano and her cherished grandchildren Marco, Caroline and husband Lorenzo Sandi, Isabella and husband Bartolomeo Parrino and her great-grandchild Giulia Parrino. Family and friends from Italy and Canada will all miss her. Funeral was held on October 6, 2003 in a private ceremony at Les Jardins Urgel Bourgie where she is resting in peace. On November 8, 2003, Anneliese Krueger (nee Buchholz), of Bedford, Qc., passed away at the age of sixty-nine at the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital after a long illness.
