Percy Weldon Cook GRAND MANAN, NB - Mr. Percy Weldon Cook, 83, formerly of Shediac Cape, NB passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home, Sunday, November 16, 2003. Born of the late James and Sophia (Ganong) Cook in Grand Manan. He was a veteran of the Second World War and later worked as a Lobster Fisherman and also in the Smoked Herring Industry. He also worked for the J. W. Windsor Co. until his retirement in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice (Bass) Cook; one daughter, Lorraine MacNeil of Cold Lake, AB; one daughter-in-law, Dixie Cook of Calgary, AB; six sons, George (Linda), Allison, NB, Rodney (Sylvia), Saint John, NB, Craig, Calgary, AB, John, Shediac Cape, NB, Dwight (Joanne), Grand Barachois, NB, and Russell (Kathy), of Porters Lake, NS; twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. William H. Clouston 1925 - 2003 William (Bill) Henry Clouston passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14th, 2003, at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Lower Derby, NB, on January 21, 1925, he was the son of the late William H. and Mabel (Drillen) Clouston. He served overseas during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a member of the Humphrey Memorial United Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gwen (Boyd) Clouston and his daughters, Nicola Boyd- Clouston, Beverly LeBlanc (Eddie), Sandra Gibson, (Jamie) and Janet Clouston (Angie). He was proud of his grandchildren, Lisa, Adam, Matthew, Alex, Greg, and Sarah, great grandchildren Brooke, and Dylan. He also leaves behind his sisters, Hazel Washabaugh (Michigan), Irene Clouston and Alice Sanderson (NB); brothers, Sterling Drillen (ON), Alfred Drillen, (NB) and Dan Clouston (FLA). In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, and Stewart Clouston, brother Norman Drillen, and grand daughter Amy. Bill retired from the CNR Shops after 40 years of service. He was the Secretary - Treasurer of Local 378 Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths. He was past president of the Moncton District Labour Council. He was proud of his community and he served it well. He was active member of the civil defence, secretary for the CNR war vets for many years, and was a former director and manager of Omista Credit Union. He served many years as a member of the board of trustees of the Moncton Hospital, a member of the Commercial Travelers, and a member of the Order of Foresters. He was a long term member, director and past president of the Air Force Veterans Memorial Club. He was a director and driver for Vans for Veterans, and a member of the Sunny Brae Branch # 54 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a recipient of the Queens Silver Jubilee medal in 1977, along with numerous service citations and awards for his years of commitment to his community. He was enthusiastic sportsman, and enjoyed, golf, fishing, bowling, and darts. He enjoyed many summers spent with family and friends at the cottage in Caissie Cape. He had many friends and socialized with them often. Visitation for Bill's friends and family will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 18th from 12 o'clock until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 PM to be held in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, Rev. Andrew Richardson officiating. All are invited to attend a Legion Service prior to the 2 PM service in the Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at 3 PM in the Air Force Veterans Club 494 St. George Street. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation in appreciation of the care that was given to Bill during his stay there. She moved to Ottawa in 2002 to be closer to her imêmediate family. GERMAIN Douglas Parsons Douglas Parsons Germain, born April 13, 1920 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Kay on July 24, 2003, he is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Rae MacDiarmid and family and Mrs. Doris Hurlbert and family, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; four children, Joyce Carter and Wendy Rundle, Calgary, Tom and Marge Carter, Regina, SK and Terry and Bea Germain, Chestermere Lake, AB; six grandchildren, Leann, Deana (Jeff), Doug, Darren (Amanda), Lindsey (Cam) and Kathleen; five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, retiring after twenty- eight years service, then retired from Canada Post in 1986. Doug was active as a Mason, a Shriner, the Korean Veterans Association and the RCASC Association, and a Life Member of the Legion. Doug will always be remembered for his wonderful disposition and sense of humour. He was always willing to give generously of his time for others and held many volunteer positions. Doug enjoyed a special love of music and demonstrated this through many years of activity in the Al Azhar Oriental Band. He and Kay enjoyed a rich and full retirement that included many wonderful trips to Europe, USA and visiting friends and family across Canada. (1921 - 2003) Jock Finlayson est décédé le 12 novembre 2003 au Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Sherbrooke (CHUS). Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, amie et partenaire, Madeleine (Coussement) - « Maddy « pour Jock et ses intimes -, sa fille, Janet, et son gendre, Keith Dumont, ses frères Deane, Archie et Bill, ainsi que ses beaux-fils, Daniel et Michel Rolland, et leurs épouses, Missy et Christine. Il était le grand-père chaleureux et attentionné de Stephen, Catherine, Sébastien et Stéphanie. Jock Finlayson était généreux de coeur, fin d'esprit et, dans tous les sens du mot, un gentleman. Il est né à Nanaimo, en Colombie-Britannique, le 27 mai 1921 et c'est dans cette ville qu'il a commencé une carrière couronnée de beaucoup de succès dans l'activité bancaire. Pendant plus de 44 ans, il a travaillé à la Banque Royale du Canada, gravissant les échelons d'un poste de commis débutant à la succursale de Nanaimo à celui de président de l'une des plus grandes banques du monde. Jock Finlayson est entré au service de la Banque Royale en 1939. Sa carrière allait l'emêmener partout au Canada, où il a occupé diverses fonctions, ainsi que dans la plupart des régions du monde, en qualité de cadre supérieur de la banque. Elle a été interrompue en 1943 quand il s'est engagé dans les forces armées canadiennes et est devenu pilote navigateur. Après sa libération de la RCAF en 1945, il a réintégré la Banque Royale. Pendant toute sa carrière, Jock Finlayson était passionnément convaincu que la créativité d'une banque se mesure à l'aune de la créativité de son personnel. Il a appliqué ce principe dans son rôle de mentor et de dirigeant à une époque où la Banque Royale défrichait de nouveaux marchés au Canada et à l'étranger. S'il a passé ses premières années à la Banque Royale en Colombie-Britannique, c'est à Montréal que Jock Finlayson a élu domicile. À part des mandats de direction de succursale à Edmonton et Winnipeg dans les années 50 et ses années passées à Toronto comme président de la Banque, sa vie professionnelle et sa vie familiale étaient ancrées à Montréal. Jock Finlayson a été nommé directeur de la succursale principale de la Banque Royale à Montréal en 1960 et, en 1964, il est devenu directeur général adjoint à son Siège social. En 1966, M. Finlayson a été nommé au poste de directeur général délégué de la Division internationale, poste qu'il a occupé jusqu'en 1969 où il est devenu directeur général en chef. En 1972, M. Finlayson a assumé les fonctions de président délégué du Conseil et vice-président directeur et en 1977, il est devenu membre du Directoire. En juillet 1980, il a déménagé à Toronto et a accédé à la présidence de la Banque en octobre de cette année-là, poste qu'il a occupé jusqu'à sa retraite, le 1er juin 1983. Parmi les nombreux conseils d'administration auxquels a siégé M. Finlayson figurent ceux de la Banque Royale du Canada, de Sun Life, de Pan Canadian Petroleum, de RJR MacDonald, de Miron, de Canadian Reynolds Metals et de RoyWest Trust. Après sa retraite, il a été président du Conseil et administrateur de Royal Insurance Company pendant plusieurs années. Comêmentant sa retraite de la Banque Royale en 1983, Jock Finlayson dit avec son élégance caractéristique : « les meilleurs souvenirs que j'emporte sont ceux des merveilleuses relations que j'ai eues avec les nombreuses personnes avec lesquelles j'ai travaillé et la grande aide qu'ils m'ont apportée à chaque étape de ma carrière à partir de mon entrée au service de la Banque. Lawrence Harold Fogelman (Larry: Lol) 1921- 2003 SHEDIAC BRIDGE, DEIPPE, NB - With courage, spirit and dignity, Larry faced his final challenge, passing on November 13, 2003. Born in London, England, he was a proud veteran of WWII, serving with the RAF as a member of Ferry Command. He married, settled and raised his family in Montreal, enjoying a successful career with CP Rail, Steinberg's and Miracle Mart. Beloved husband to Peggy (Colombe), cherished father to Laurie (Earl Shaw) and Carol (Alan Marriott) and adored "Big Dad" to David and Kristen; he will also be fondly remembered by his sister Audrey; his sistersin-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, as well as all his friends.
