Le 5 septembre 2003 est décédée à la Maison Notre-Dame du Saguenay à l’âge de 49 ans et 6 mois, Mme Céline Simard, conjointe de M. Richard Ménard, fille de M. Lévis Simard et de dame Rolande Pineault. Elle demeurait au 1950, rue des Roitelets, App. apt.101, Chicoutimi. La famille accueillera les parents et ami(e)s le mercredi 10 septembre 2003 de 9 h à 11 h 15 à la Coopérative Funéraire de Chicoutimi 520, boul. Saguenay Est, Chicoutimi Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 10 septembre 2003 à 11 h 30 à l’église Saint-Isidore. Elle a été incinérée au crématorium de la Coopérative Funéraire de Chicoutimi. Les cendres seront déposées au Mausolée Saint-François-Xavier. La défunte laisse dans le deuil, outre son conjoint M. Richard Ménard, ses demi-filles: Claudia et Catherine Ménard; ses parents: M. Peacefully at home on Friday, September 5, 2003, aged 71. Positive throughout his life, including his 10-year battle with cancer, Phil will be dearly missed by his wife Marian (nee Hevenor); children, Marcus (Mandy) and Leigh (John Nopper); grandchildren, Kyle, Ethan and Katherine, and many friends and colleagues. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Murray Elgin Brady and Mary Alzina Semêmens, Phil spent his early years in Aylmer, Ontario. He received a diploma from the Ryerson Institute of Technology, an Honours B.A. (Business Administration) from University of Western Ontario, and an M.Sc. (Business Administration) and A.B.D. (Economics) from Columbia University. Phil enjoyed a rewarding 35-year career with External Affairs (San Jose, Costa Rica and Ottawa, Canada), C.I.D.A., I.D.R.C., and the United Nations (New York, USA and Geneva, Switzerland). His efforts to make the world a better place touched several developing countries, and inspired those who knew him. Phil's retirement years have been spent enjoying his cottage and family, helping to build the Prostate Cancer Association of Ottawa, and more recently, assisting Ottawa's newly-formed colon cancer support group.Our thanks and gratitude go to the many doctors and nurses who helped to care for him. Bequeathal to the University of Ottawa for medical research. Beloved wife and best friend of Clarence (Kelly) Kary and dear and proud mother of sons Alan (Anne), David (Michelle), Douglas (Barbara) and Kenneth (Mona). Grandmother to 8 wonderful children Abbie and Sam, Chelsea, Lindsay and Nicholas, Clara and Emma, and Stephen. Also survived by brother E.T. (Tom) Martin and wife Jo Ann. Maureen was born on February 11, 1933 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and began teaching at Ile a la Crosse where she met her future husband Kelly, in 1954. They married in 1957 and came to Ottawa with their four boys in 1967. Maureen was devoted to her students, children and grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments. She taught at Fairfield, Henry Munro, Lamira Dow Billings and Terry Fox Public Schools. Friends may visit the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Tuesday, September 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Annunciation of The Lord Roman Catholic Church, 2414 Ogilvie Road on Wednesday at 12 noon. With grace and dignity, and blessed with unwavering good nature, she kept her sense of humour throughout. Predeceased by her husband Basil; brother David and sister Sheila. After living at townsites in Peru for 10 years and at Dome Mines, near Timmins for 25 years, Ann enjoyed the past 29 years in the historic town of Perth with her beautiful garden and her many friends and social activities. Born May 19, 1935 in P.E.I., he was the son of the late John Arsenault and the late Beatrice Gaudet. He is survived by his former wife, Yvonne (LeBlanc) Arsenault of Moncton; two daughters, Juanita Lapointe (Morris), Debbie Hutchison (RunDle) all of Moncton; two sons, Henry (Sherri) of Calgary, Alberta, Emile Jr. of Toronto; three sisters, Yvonne, Jean, and Rita all of P.E.I.; four brothers, Ben, Arthur, Alphonse all of P.E.I., Nelson of Toronto; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and by a special caretaker, Claudette Shean who was very appreciated. BASTARACHE, EDGAR J.-The death of Edgar J. Bastarache of Ridgewood Veterans' Wing, husband of Lena E. M. (LeBlanc) Bastarache, occurred at his residence on Sunday, September 7, 2003. Mr. Bastarache was born in Moncton, a son of the late Frank and Melina (Gautreau) Bastarache, and had lived the greater part of his life in Saint John. He served overseas with the R.C.A.M.C. during the Second World War and following the war was employed as a nursing orderly at the Lancaster D.V.A. Hospital until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69; the Canadian Wildlife Federation; the Holy Name Society. He had been an avid baseball and hockey fan. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, David of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose de Lima Church on Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. THERIAULT, CORA MAE-Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on September 7th, 2003, following a brief illness, Mrs. Cora Mae (Stanton) Theriault, wife of Herbert Theriault of Utopia, NB. Born on August 20, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Lizzie (Height) Stanton. A loving wife, aunt and special aunt, she is survived by her husband of 75 years, Herbert; two nieces, Elizabeth Kingston (wife of the late Charles Kingston) of Pennfield, Hazel (Mrs. Harold Gillespie) of Utopia; special great-niece, Veronica (Mrs. Roger St. Onge) of St. George; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Cora was the last surviving member of her imêmediate family. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Curtis and Burwell, two sisters Rita Hilma. Cora was employed in the Labelling Room at Connors Bros. Ltd. for over 20 years. In her early years, she loved knitting and crocheting, and enjoyed baking. She was a member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home on Tuesday at 4:30pm, followed by interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
