LA FAMILLE LEFEBVRE a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MLLE MARIA CÉCILE LEFEBVRE de Hull, décédée le mardi 1er avril 2003, à l'âge de 92 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Emmanuel Lefebvre et de feu Malvina Rochon. Elle laisse dans le deuil son frère Gérard (Georgette Tessier); une belle-soeur, Germaine Lefebvre, ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et de nombreux amis. KATY MARIETTE VAN DRUNEN (Jan. 5, 1983-March 31, 2003) Katy Mariette Van Drunen was called back to God on Monday evening, March 31, 2003, with her beloved mother at her side, following a very short illness. Katy was born in Fort Frances, Ont., and from infancy displayed a sweetness of disposition that characterized her throughout her life. She loved people, and habitually cared for those with whom she came into contact. Katy’s dream was to become a teacher, and she was just completing a successful first year at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. This past year had reinforced for her that dream of teaching and she thrived on the challenges of university life. Physical fitness was an integral part of Katy’s life, and she usually was up early running or working out in the university gym. She joked that she was easily identified on campus each weekend as she was the only person up and about on a weekend morning. In preparation for her university years, Katy worked for the past few years at the local Pharmasave store. Greeting and helping the customers were tasks she enjoyed, and her love of people shone through as she served and assisted them. The Pharmasave staff members were wonderful to Katy, and she thought of them as extended family. Katy had just made the decision to come home for the summer and work with these friends again. Katy had many good friends who are distraught by the loss of this caring and compassionate young woman. Katy and her friends loved spending time together. She had a personality that put everyone at ease. Never judgmental of her friends, Katy saw beauty in each of them. These friends knew that Katy put their needs ahead of her own much of the time, and they appreciate that a friendship like this is rare. A large and loving family survives Katy, including her mom, Daria Hammond; her dad, Tim Van Drunen; sisters, Amy Van Drunen and Kaya Hammond; brothers, Tim Van Drunen Jr. and Jordan Hammond; stepmother, Katherine McHughen, and stepfather, Lyle Hammond; grandmother, Lil Van Drunen; aunts, Teresa (Al) Baker, Elizabeth Van Drunen, and Margie Van Drunen; and uncle Fred Van Drunen. On her mom’s side, Katy will be missed by aunties, Mariette (Keith) McRae, Cis (Bob) Barron, and Liz (Gerry) Parent; and uncles, Steve (Kathi) Gagne, Peter (Ellie) Gagne, and Robin (Cynde) Gagne. Some precious great-aunts and uncles include Marianne Gagne, Marg and Gordie Woollard, and Ruby Gallagher. Katy was predeceased by her two grandpas, Henry Van Drunen and Rom Gagne; and her maternal grandmother, Bertha Gagne. She was also a member of Bridgetown United Baptist Church and their ladies auxiliary as well as the Mountain and Valley Seniors Club, Bridgetown. She enjoyed bowling, playing darts and cribbage. (nee Buckley) After a very brief illness, died on March 29, 2003 in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. Born May 27, 1927 in Trois-Rivieres. After her marriage in 1947, Aline and her former husband, Arthur Bellamy, settled in Rouyn-Noranda where they raised their two children, The Honourable Madam Justice Denise Bellamy (Ian Cummings) now resident in Toronto, Ontario, and Raymond Bellamy (Suzan) now living in Cumberland, Ontario. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jennifer Bellamy and by her sisters, Jeannine McDonnell (Bill) of Revelstoke, British Columbia, and Brigitte Buckley of Trois-Rivieres. Her sister, Claire, predeceased her in 1998. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Leo-Paul Pellerin, her nephews, Paul, Pierre (Nicole) and Jean Pellerin (Trois-Rivieres and Cap-de-la-Madeleine) and by her niece, Linda Noel (Trois-Rivieres). As was her wish, no service will be held and flowers are gratefully declined. Dr. Khera obtained his DSc from the Sorbonne in Paris, and completed postdoctoral training at Baylor University in Houston, Texas, before migrating to Canada in 1964. His name appears in American Men and Women in Science, 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century, and The Contemporary Who's Who. In 1988, he was honoured by the Society of Toxicology with the Arnold J. Lehmann Award "in recognition of scientific excellence and continuing contributions in the field of toxicology". He was a member of Rideau View and Algonquin golf clubs. He leaves in sorrow his beloved wife, Claire Paulin. Predeceased by his first wife, Rajinder, he is survived by his children, Jagtar (Kathleen), Surinder (Harlehajari Mahal), Balbir (Baldev Dabhia), Jyoti (Sarup Gill), Awtar (Jasminder), Nickky (Iqbal Bajwa), and Roxanne, a brother Surat and sister Darshan (Harpal Randhawa) both in India, and several grandchildren. He recently completed his autobiography, "A life of struggles" (PublishAmerica, Frederick, Maryland, in print). A memorial service will be held at a later date. SOINI, Toivo Rikhard In loving memory of Toivo Rikhard Soini, who passed away on 31 March 2003, at the age of 86. Born 21, January 1917 in Pispala Tampere, Finland, he arrived in Halifax in 1930 at the young age of 13. His journey continued inland to the Sudbury area, where he met and married the late Florence Paquette (1920-1991). They remained in the area until 1985, rearing 5 children, while working for INCO. They then moved to Ottawa until 2000. Sadly missed by his children, Allan (wife Anne) of Iroquois Falls, Norman (wife Cindy) of Stouffville, Shirley Ann, J. Danny and Linda, all three of the Ottawa Region. He was a proud grandfather to Brendan, Nathalie, Julie, Eric, Nathan, and Paul. SPOWART, Robertina N., Peacefully, at her residence, Sunset Haven Home for the Aged in Welland, on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in her 95th year. Cherished wife of the late James Ross Spowart (1963). Beloved mother of Andrew Spowart (Madeline) of St. Catharines, Ross Spowart (Mary) and Helen Ann LaFlamme (Roland), all of Welland. Dearest sister of Mary Knox of St. Catharines and Janet Wilson (Earl) of Welland. Loved grandmother and great-grandmother of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by her parents Edward and Maggy Clunie, her son Ted (1962), brother Andrew and sister Margaret Powell. Born in Scotland, Mrs. Spowart came to Canada in 1929, residing in Crystal Beach before moving to Welland in 1931. Né le 31 août 1927 à Salisbury, il était fils de feu Jim Cormier et de feu Annie Fougère.
