Fondly cherished by her children Carole (Don Johnson), John (Bonnie Gay) and Patricia (Jules Grenier). Loving grandmother of Lorie (Donald), Alex, Barb and Zenek and great-grandmother of Emily, Eva, Madison and Mitchell. Predeceased by her parents Albert Buell and Sarah (Potter). Sister of Albert (Mae), Ted (Ruth) and George (Shirley). Elsie will be sadly missed by all her relatives and friends. KENNY, Patrick Joseph - Peacefully, at Picton Manor, Picton, Ontario, on Monday March 3, 2003. Born in Colne, England in 1926, he lived most of his life in Toronto, where he was a long-term employee of Canadian Tire Corporation, and in Peterborough, Ontario. During World War II he was a Bevan Boy in the British mines, then served with the Royal Engineers in Japan and Egypt. Pre-deceased by his wife Patricia and his sister Catherine. Survived by his brother Frank (Renee) in England, sister Cecilia Holter of Milford, Ontario, and sister-in-law Sylvia McNamara in England. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and good friends in England and Canada. At his request, there will be no funeral service. If desired, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation. NORMA ELMA (McCOMB) DUNCAN Norma passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2003 at Duncan, B.C. after a courageous five-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Emo, Ont. on June 4, 1924 to Edward and Ella McComb. She is survived by her daughters, Debora (Cecil) Thornell and Barbara (Harold) Boyden; son, Alexander (Lorri) Duncan of Duncan, B.C.; sister, Ella (Sis) Angus of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and brother, Buzz McComb (Louise) of Emo, Ont. She also is survived by sisters-in-law, Cecilia and Bessie McComb of Emo, Ont. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; and brothers, Graydon, Ellwood, and Thompson. A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at the family residence on Saturday, March 22, 2003.

ROBERT OUIMET At the Rouyn-Noranda hospital, on the 20h day of the month of February 2003, at the age of 80, Mr.  Robert Ouimet, loving husband of the Late Mrs Theresa Talon. He will be sadly missed by his son Teddy husband of Gloria Ouimet, and his daughter Debby wife of Bill Brosko. Dear brother of Vi, wife of Ed Jorgensen, Billy husband of Lorraine Ouimet, loving grandfather of Terry, Mark, Jesse, Kaylie, Dustin, Daniel and Breanne. He will also be sadly missed by his sister in law Murielle Ouimet and by his many friends and relatives. George Yearly, 2 Kimberly Drive, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Feb. 26, 2003. He was 97 years-old. Mr. Yearly was born in Warren on Dec. 27, 1905. He worked as a stationary engineer at Spruce Falls for 43 years. Mr. Yearly was predeceased by his parents Matilda and Fred, brother Clarence and sisters Hazel, Alice, and Beatrice. He is survived by son Clarence ‘Len’ (Joanne) of Penticton, British Columbia, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Mr. Yearly will be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.

BOURDON, NEDA – Des funérailles ont eu lieu le 26 février, à 16 h 15 en après-midi, à la cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Hearst, pour Neda Bourdon, née Chalykoff, domiciliée au Foyer des Pionniers de Hearst, décédée paisiblement, entourée de la famille, le 24 février 2003, à l'âge de 96 ans, à l'Hôpital Notre-Dame de Hearst. Elle était née le 26 septembre 1906 en Bulgarie. Elle habitait dans la région depuis 1912. Membre des Filles d'Isabelle, elle aimait le jardinage, le crochetage et la musique comme passe-temps. Elle était une femême douce et souriante. Elle fut précédée dans la mort par son époux Roméo en 1995, son fils Robert en 2001, son petit-fils Ronald en 1980, son arrière-petit-fils Carl en 1996 et son frère Rod Chalykoff. Elle laisse dans le deuil 4 filles : Jeanne (Lionel) Audet de Hearst, Jacqueline (Joseph) Dubé de Princeton, Colombie-Britannique, Carole (Gary) MacDonald de Timmins, Hélène (J. Bernard) Marcil d'Ottawa; une belle-fille : Janine Bourdon, née Néolet (feu Robert) de Hearst; 1 soeur : Sanna Wade de London; 1 frère : Nick Chalykoff de Kelowna, Colombie-Britannique; ainsi que 9 petits-enfants : Louis, Serge, Valérie, Anne-Marie, Julie, Pascal, Karine, Marc et Stéphane et 5 arrière-petits-enfants : Isabelle, Justin, Gabriel, Ian et Marie-Pier. Le père Rémi Lessard a conduit le service funèbre. L'inhumation a suivi au cimetière Mgr Pierre Grenier de Hearst. She died at Notre-Dame Hospital, Feb. 24, from an illness, surrounded by family. Born Sept. 26, 1906 in Bulgaria, she came to Cochrane in 1912 at age five and two years later to Hearst. At age 12, she went to Oshawa to study under the Sisters of the Church of England. Returning to Hearst from Toronto at age 19 to work as an assistant pharmacist at Monarch Drug. Co., she met pharmacist Roméo Bourdon whom she married in August 1931. They were Hearst's 60th anniversary couple in 1982. A quiet person, always smiling, she was a member of the Filles d'Isabelle and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and music. Predeceasing her were husband Roméo in June 1995, a son Robert in 2001, grandson Ronald Audet in 1981, great grandson Carl Audet in November 1996, all in Hearst, a brother Rod Chalykoff of the Toronto area in 2002, and brother-in-law Herb Wade in London. She leaves daughters Jeanne (Lionel) Audet of Hearst, Jacqueline 'Jackie' (Joseph) Dubé of Princeton, B.C., Carole (Gary) MacDonald of Timmins, Hélène (Bernard) Marcil of Ottawa, and daughter-in-law Janine Bourdon of Hearst. Also surviving are her sister Sana Wade of London, a brother Nick (Margaret) Chalykoff of Kelowna, B.C., granddaughters Valérie, Anne-Marie, Julie, Karine, grandsons Louis, Serge, Pascal, Marc and Stéphane, and great grandchildren.Isabelle and Marie-Pier, Justin, Gabriel and Ian. Rev. Rémi Lessard directed the service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at the Monsignor Grenier Cemetery.

Roland Dutrisac, 348 Government Rd. West, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 3, 2003. He was 79 years-old. Mr. Dutrisac was born in New Liskeard on April 2, 1923. He worked as a machine tender at the sulphite plant for Spruce Falls Pulp and Paper. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling and spending time in the bush. Mr. Dutrisac was predeceased by brothers Daniel and Conrad and sisters Emma and Simone. He is survived by wife Cécile, son Stanley of Kapuskasing and daughters Sylvie-Anne (Fernand) Groleau of Kap and Angèle Dutrisac of Victoria. Also surviving are brothers Lionel and Omer of Kap, grandsons Marc and Eric Turgeon and, great grandchildren Sarah, Emily and Hanna. Rev. Gilles Gosselin will direct the funeral service Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Cremation at Hillcrest Crematorium.

Funeral services for lifelong Hearst area resident Sagny (nee Davitsky) Bosnick, 83, of 1414 Edward St. were held Feb. 27, 2003. She died Feb. 25 at Notre-Dame Hospital from a brief illness. Born Feb. 2, 1920 in Hallébourg, she enjoyed gardening, flowers and baking. Besides English and French learned in school, she was also a fluent speaker and writer in Croatian and Ukrainian. Predeceased by her husband Emil Bosnick of Hearst in 1973 and infant son Sergei in 1953, she leaves her companion Fern Fortin, daughters Elizabeth (Ray) Gauthier of Kapuskasing and Mabel (Bob) Sweet of Rathesay, New Brunswick, sons Sam (Suzanne) of Hearst, Roger of Carberry, Manitoba, and Morris (Phyllis) Bosnick of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are her sister Mary Tomchyshyn of South Porcupine, Ann (Ken) Sprickeroff of Brampton and Helen (Cecil) Cartwright of Orillia, a brother Sam Davitsky of Toronto, four grandsons and six granddaughters, and seven great grandchildren. Rev. Douglas Richardson directed the afternoon service at St. Matthew's-St. Paul's Anglican/United Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Jane Theresa Aubrey (née McElroy) of Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 3, 2003, after an 11 year battle with cancer. She was 48 years-old. She is survived by her husband Stephen, son Joseph of Waterloo and daughter Stephanie of Guelph, and parents Chloe Turner and Gilbert McElroy of Ottawa, and mother-in-law Betty (Horace) Aubrey. Also surviving are sisters Kerry (Lee) Tremblay of Calgary and Patricia (Jeffrey) Wilson of Ottawa; and in-laws .Peg (Tom) St. Julien and Pat (Stephen) Dodge of Ottawa. Visitation will be held at Guenette Funeral Home tomorrow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Mrs. Aubrey will be interred at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. MOREAU Edna passed away on Monday, March 3, 2003 at Saskatoon City Hospital at the age of 79 years. She was born in Manchester, England on June 1, 1923 and came to Canada with her parents in 1925, settling in BC in the Trail and Rossland area where she attended school. In 1942 she enlisted and worked in the Gun Operations Room on Citadel Hill in Halifax. While there she met George, and they were married in Winnipeg on June 26, 1945. They lived in Regina, Winnipeg, and for the last 25 years in Saskatoon. She worked at the Bay and Eaton's in Regina for many years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed all crafts. She was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Mary Ellis. She is survived by her husband, George; four children, Mary Ann (Andy), Phyllis (Frank), Con (Judi) and Georgette (John); eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A personal visitation time for family and close friends will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2003 at the Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel. A public visitation will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral the hour before the funeral service. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral (22nd Street East and Spadina Cr. East) with Rev. Father Gene Warnke, O.M.I. as celebrant. Ce n'est que tout récemêment qu'elle était revenue habiter la région. Elle a occupé plusieurs métiers dont celui d'actrice, de recherchiste dans l'industrie du divertissement. Elle adorait jouer de la musique, faire du yoga et pratiquer son métier d'actrice. À un moment dans sa vie, elle a même eu son propre orchestre.
