Loving father of Pamela and Allan Miller, of Sarnia ON, and Margaret Knapp of Sarnia ON, and Geoffrey and Ana Knapp of Hamilton ON. Predeceased by son Russell Winslow Knapp, 1981. Grandfather to Christina and Matthew Kember, Hyacinthe and Joel Metcalf, and Cameron Knapp, all of Sarnia ON. Also survived by sister Anita Boyes of Montreal and Lois Lomasney of Val David. Special uncle to Carole-Lyn Lomansey (Rob), and nephew to Kevin Lomasney (Lucie). Services will be arranged through Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, Sherbrooke Street, Montreal West. Will be sadly missed by family and friends. In his memory, contributions can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

MALERBA, "Joe" Giuseppe In loving memory of Joe Malerba, 68 years of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday morning January, 19, 2003, at the S.R.H. St. Joseph’s Centre. He was born in Foggia, Italy. Joe came to Sudbury in 1966 from Italy. He was a Roman Catholic who belonged to St. Patrick’s Church. A welder by trade he operated 69 Welding for 19 years retiring in 1997. Joe was very proud of his craft and workmanship. A hardworking man he was always busy. He will be remembered as a gentle person with a huge heart. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his loving family and many friends. Beloved husband of Lina Malerba-Muzzi of Sudbury. Loving stepfather of Sam Muzzi (wife Aline Cayen), Theresa Beaulne and son-in-law Gerry Beaulne and Joey Muzzi (fiancée Tammy Lafond) all of Sudbury. Born in Zorkovac, Croatia, emigrated to Creighton to join her beloved husband Mirko (predeceased February 19, 1989) in 1956, finally settling in Garson following Mirko’s retirement in 1966. Sister of Theresa, Joseph and Yvon all precedeceased. Loving mother of Steve (wife Olga) both predeceased, Frank (wife Ljuba) of Garson, and Drago precedeceased. Cherished grandmother of Josie (husband Frank Visockas), Michael (wife Lillian) all of Garson, Lona Joly (Morris Dabous) of Hanmer and great-grandmother of Lee and Kirk Visockas and Ryan, Jillian and Tara Joly. Pepa was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church in Garson for many years. She was an avid crocheter; blueberry picker and gardener who shared the fruits of her labour with all those who entered her home. EVEREST, Jesse William In loving memory of Jesse William Everest, 76 years, Sunday morning, January 19, 2003, at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Callander, he married Jean in Trout Creek, in 1950. He worked in the crushing plant then at the pump floor at the INCO Smelter for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Korean War Veteran’s Association. Jesse enjoyed gardening and travel, and in his younger days hunting and fishing. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf hockey fan. Jesse will be remembered with great love as a generous and easy going man. Beloved husband of Jean (Hummel) Everest of Val Caron. Loving father of Karen (husband David Schram) of Val Caron, Bruce (wife Lorraine) of Clarence Creek, Bill (wife Nicole) of Brampton, Donny predeceased, Andy (wife Kim) of Hanmer, Ross (wife Jody) of Val Caron and Myles (wife Kathleen) of Calgary. TRENT, LEILA (BUNNY) AGNES (nee ALLINGHAM) On May 4, 1930, God granted us the gift of one of the finest women ever to grace the earth. She gave of herself and was loved by all who knew her. Leila (Bunny) Agnes Trent (nee Allingham) returned to God on Friday, January 17, 2003 at Royal Victoria Hospital. Loving wife of William George Edward Trent of Innisfil. Loving mother to Therese (Teri) Seymour, William Trent and his wife Helena Forstova, Wilfred Trent and his wife Lynn, Marion Trent and her husband James Kratz, James Trent and his wife Sheri. Bunny created a celebration of life through her eight grandchildren Megan, Jessica and Shelby Seymour, William, Christina and Samantha Trent, and Jefferson and Nelisa Trent. Survived by siblings Margaret Taushman, Patricia Allingham, Richard, Michael and Cary Allingham. Predeceased by sister Christina. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, January 22 at 2pm at Trinity Anglican Church in Aurora (corner of Church and Victoria Street). Elle laisse également dans le deuil ses 29 petits-enfants, 45 arrière-petits-enfants et 3 arrière-arrière-petits-enfants. CROWLEY, JOHN LESTER The death of John Lester Crowley of New Zion, NB occurred Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton. Born in Bognor-Regis, England, he was the son of John (Jack) and Kitty (Jacobs) Crowley. Since retiring, John was fortunate to have been able to pursue his passion for painting, some of which may be viewed on the JLC website (www.webruler.com/creativity). In addition to his parents in Edmonton, AB, John is survived by his wife Carol (Glenn) Crowley and two daughters, Elizabeth and Tara all of New Zion; a brother Daniel Crowley (Lois) of Grand Prairie, AB; three sisters, Vicki Eichenlaub of Edmonton, AB, Gayle Eldert (Mike) of Virginia, USA and Carol Crowley of Calgary, AB and several nieces and nephews. SYLVIA SUZANNE MARIE PAYETTE 1938-2003 It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Sylvia Payette, on January 19, 2003, at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 64 years. Mom was born in 1938 to Antonio and Rebecca Therrien. Mom was married for a short time and soon found herself alone to raise her two girls. She was generous to a fault and would often do without just so someone else had what they needed. She always had an extra plate for supper or a warm bed for someone to use. Mom was employed at the St. Amant Centre for the past 22 years. She enjoyed her work there. The centre became a second family to her. Mom's biggest joy and love in her life were her five grandchildren. She was so proud of all of them. She supported them in whatever undertakings they chose. Mom will be dearly missed. In her passing Sylvia leaves to mourn her two daughters, Simone and husband Norbert Major, Shawn and Amanda; Therese and husband David McCreery, Chrystal (fiancee Greg), Lindsey and Courtney. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Francis Desrochers, Laurette and husband Norman Labossiere; brothers, Guy and wife Marguerite Therrien, Roland and wife Lorraine Therrien; sister-in-law Dora Therrien; sister-in-law Lucy Gregorchuk; and brother-in-law Raymond Choquette. Mom was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Rebecca Therrien; brothers, Dollard, Roger, Andre; and sister Raymonde Choquette; and brother-in-law Richard Desrochers. Our family would like to thank the St. Boniface General Hospital for the excellent care given to Mom during her short stay. A special thank you to aunty Laurette, uncle Norman and uncle Guy who spent a lot of their time with us at the hospital. GUY E. GOULET Guy passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2003 at the age of 50. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Irene, his daughter Nicole (Dan Steinkey), his son Daniel (Meghan Petteys), and their mother Cathy. He also leaves his parents, Paul and Simone (Martel) Goulet of Brandon; as well as two brothers and two sisters, Denis (Gerri) of Calgary, Roland (Bev) of Victoria, Pauline (Bruce) McConnell of Bernie, and Lorraine (Garry) Winters of Brandon; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves to mourn his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Gordon Dearlove, and brother-in-law, Allan Dearlove (Ann McAulay). Guy was born on September 4, 1952 in Wawota, SK. Along with his family, he moved to Brandon at the age of 4. He attended high school at BCI in Brandon, and began his career with Manitoba Hydro at the age of nineteen as a Timekeeper. Over the years, he obtained his CGA designation, and in 1998 became a consultant for Deloitte Consulting. Guy started his own consulting business in 2002. Guy married Irene Dearlove on July 16, 1994. They enjoyed spending time together at the cottage they built at Lac Du Bonnet. They also enjoyed travelling and spent the past Christmas holiday in Texas. Guy's children were their pride and joy. Guy and Irene especially enjoyed entertaining them at the cottage. Guy was a very talented artist and carpenter, with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Guy's life will take place in Winnipeg on Thursday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. A private family interment will follow the reception. COLONEL (RET.) J.O. ARMAND LETELLIER MBE, O ST-J. CD Royal 22e Régiment est décédé le 19 janvier 2003 au Centre Élisabeth-Bruyère d'Ottawa, à l'âge de 87 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée Hélène (Bournival) Letellier après 62 ans de mariage; ses fils: Michel (France Lacoursière), Marc, Yves (Lucie Gratton) et ses filles jumelles Danièle (Frank Genesee) et Thérèse (François Reid); 13 petits-enfants et 9 arrière-petits-enfants. L'a prédécédé, 1 petit-fils, Alain. Il laisse également ses soeurs: Marguerite Letellier et Lucienne Byrne, ainsi que son frère Roger Letellier (Irène Boivin) et ses belles-soeurs: Carmen Letellier (Jean-Marc) et Mary Fowler-Letellier (Pierre), ainsi que leurs familles. Le Colonel Letellier est né à Ottawa le 20 juillet 1915 et il obtenait son brevet d'officier en 1934 avec le régiment de Hull. En 1939, il passait à la force active et traversait l'Angleterre en 1942 pour se joindre à la 4e Division blindée. Il terminait la guerre au quartier général de l'Armée canadienne et revenait au pays en 1946. Muté à Ottawa, il occupait différentes fonctions au sein du quartier général de l'Armée canadienne et fut notamêment officier d'état-major, résident à l'Université d'Ottawa de 1946 à 1948. De 1957 à 1960, il commandait le 3e bataillon du Royal 22e Régiment. Après un an à la Commission internationale de surveillance et de contrôle au Vietnam, il promu colonel en 1962 pour devenir le directeur des études au Collège d'état-major de l'Armée à Kingston, Ontario. Il prit sa retraite des Forces canadiennes en mars 1969 pour devenir le directeur général du bilinguisme et du biculturalisme au ministère de la Défense nationale et des Forces armées canadiennes, poste qu'il occupa comme civil juqu'en 1977, date de sa retraite définitive. FLETCHER, Robert Bailey- Robert Bailey Fletcher died in Guadalajara, Mexico on January 17, 2003 in his 64th year. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Bob graduated from the University of Toronto in 1961 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He immediately joined 3M Canada as a Professional Engineer and retired after 35 years of service in Canada and the USA. Bob traveled extensively during his lifetime but truly found his "soul’s home" in Ajijic, Mexico where he had many caring friends and received the best possible medical and nursing care. His wife and best friend, Dianne Crawford; his loving daughter, Susan and son, Michael; three treasured grandsons, Cameron, Eric and Thomas; and a special son-in-law Gary Peters mourn his passing. Cremation to be followed by a funeral mass at San Andres Roman Catholic Church, Ajijic on January 28, 2003.
