Dear brother of Blanche (Florent Beaudoin), Wilbert (the late Therese), the late Ted (the late Gertrude), the late Rita (Peter Backs), the late Eileen (the late Wright Moffat), Yvonne (John York), Ellen (Mike Phillips), Terry (Maxie Stamplecoskie), Frank (Aline), the late Marcel (Annette), Marguerite (Eugene Berube), Pauline (the late Alcide Perras), Maurice (Jackie), Madeleine (Leo Perras), Ronald (Louise). Fondly remembered by his parents-in-law Euclide and Agathe (nee Lortie) D'Aoust, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Yvon and Lisette D'Aoust, Monique and John Hunton, Suzanne and John Au Coin, Robert D'Aoust and Randi Cherry, Jocelyne D'Aoust and Denis Brisson, Gisele and Joe Doyle. Loving uncle of several nieces and nephews, he also leaves behind numerous friends. A special thank you to the ICU staff at the Civic Campus: Doctors Da Silva and Hodder and nurses Jim, Karen and especially Sharon for their exceptional kindness and loving care. Also, thank you to Christian at the Centre Hospitalier de Gatineau. Fern left this world far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a very giving man throughout his life, and his generosity continues as his beautiful eyes have been donated. A private service, attended by his imêmediate family, was held on Thursday, January 9. A musical celebration in Fern's honour, presented by his fellow fiddlers and the Castenchel Choir, will be held on Sunday, January 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the R.A. Centre, 195 boul. Maloney Ouest, Gatineau, Quebec. All are welcome and invited to attend. Donations to the Fern Foubert Memorial Fund (established for the Rupert Youth Welfare Association) would be appreciated. John R. Robinson John R. Robinson 47, beloved son and friend of Jack and Elaine Robinson, Moncton, passed away suddenly in Varadero, Cuba on Monday, December 30, 2002, while vacationing with his wife, Sherry (Ring) and son John Thomas. Born in Kentville, NS, he graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. John worked for Moncton Chrysler Dodge (1960) Ltd., Chrysler Canada Ltd., and was former owner of Robinson Plymouth Chrysler of Amherst. He has businesses in St. Stephen and Amherst in partnership with Ronald White of Amherst, as well as Port Elgin, and Moncton. He was a member of the Moncton City Club, Moncton Press Club, BPOE Elks Lodge of Moncton and former member of the Amherst Rotary Club. John was an astute businessman, kind, caring, loving and a friend to all. He danced "the dance of life" and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. "Smooth sailing John". Robert Durlin Keller Suddenly at the Village Green Nursing Home, Selby, on December 16, 2002, in his 85th year. Durlin was born in Croydon on October 1, 1918, the son of the late John Keller and Pearl Bawn. Durlin lived and worked on the family farm, except for a short time in the 1950’s when he worked at the CIL Plant in Millhaven. He had been retired from farming for some time before his short illness. He was predeceased by his sisters Edith Scouten (Archie), Merle McGaughey (Wilbur) and Aleita Conger (Charles). Lovingly remembered by his sisters Annie Scouten (Ford), Keitha Grabenstein (Roy), Pearl Blair (Donald), Ila McLennan (Don), and brothers Herbert (Rita) and Orval (Nina). Hazel "Marie" Hudgins Of Leisure World Care Giving Centre, Elmira, Ontario passed away on November 26, 2002. She was 83. Marie was born the daughter of the late Gertrude Stor and Archie Denison in Richmond Township. She was a resident of Napanee for over 70 years. She was a homemaker and her special interests were knitting and needlepoint. Marie’s husband Carman retired in the 70’s from Mill Street Gas & Oil. For the last five years Marie resided with her daughters Joan (Burlington) and Lynda (Kitchener), Lanark Heights, Kitchener and Leisure World Long Term Care in Elmira, Ontario. Mrs. Hudgins is survived by daughters Joan Calver (husband Orien), Lynda Scoggan (husband Hugh), grandchildren Tracy Calver, Penny Baker, Kylie Scoggan, Trent Calver, Paula Calver, Kevin Scoggan, 8 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Sue Denison, brother-in-law Walter Platt and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husband Carman, her parents, sisters Edna Winter, Flossie Ryder, Pearl Platt and brother Floyd Denison. The funeral was held at Wartman Funeral Home, Napanee, November 29, 2002 with Rev. Tim Milley and Rev. Howard Dudgeon officiating. Hubert C. Smith Hubert Clement Smith, son of the late Schuyler Smith and Carrie (Clement) Smith died at KGH on November 17, 2002 at the age of 93. He was born in Ernestown Twp. on the family farm, attended Bayview School and Buelah United Church. He was a farmer most of his life. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and friends, his garden, especially his potato patch, playing the fiddle both for his enjoyment and to entertain at the various local nursing homes. He was a charter member of the Kingston Old Time Fiddlers. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Emily (Baker) Smith, son Durl and his wife Elsie, grandson Dennis (Christie), granddaughter Dalyce Mayell (David), five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Ida Milligan (Jim), Edythe Amey (Ray), Helen Smith (Allan). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rev. Ida Deodato (Scaletta) Ida was the 1st born child of 12 of Sam and Rose Scaletta in Termini Sicily on April 7th 1907. She passed away peacefully at Trillium Ridge on December 28th 2002. During her almost 96 years here she accomplished more than most people dream about. Ida married Tony Sr. on October 24th 1923. She was the driving force behind the successful business they would work at together for 50 years, now known as Deodato Fruits and Vegetables. She also managed to raise a family of 10 children who loved and adored her, Mary, Rose, Lucy, Anne, Vin, Sam, Ida, Tony, Jean and Pat, who in return gave her 26 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. What an amazing legacy she leaves behind! Ida and Tony were married almost 60 years when she lost her beloved husband just 10 days before that milestone anniversary. Her greatest losses in her life were when her precious sons Sam and Vin passed away. Her life was a cause of celebration for her whole family and so it is that we thank all those who gave such tender loving care to her especially the wonderful staff at Trillium Ridge and Dr. Cristoveanu who was there whenever we needed him. To all who sent floral tributes, had memorial masses offered and gave to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Kidney Foundation and the Regional Cancer Centre in our mother’s memory we give our deepest gratitude. Bertha Marie Melanson 1927 - 2003 Bertha Marie Melanson, 75, of Residence Aventure, Virginia Ave., Dieppe, passed away peacefully and with dignity after a period of failing health on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at The Moncton Hospital. Born June 27, 1927 in Sunny Brae, she was the daughter of the late Jean (Jonny) and the late Amanda (Née: DesRoches) Melanson and her stepfather the late Albert Girouard. Bertha was in the RCAF from 1952 to 1957 and served with the NATO in France. After retiring as a Registered Medical Librarian, she became a volunteer with the Seniors Day Program at the YMCA. She is survived by two sisters, Marie (Hector) Babineau and Stella (George) VanBuskirk, both of Moncton; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Bertin, infant Edgar and infant Alfred. The family will receive relatives and friends at a reception following the Funeral Mass. Hazel Mae (Roberts) LeBlanc 1938 - 2003 We were graced with the presence of our precious wife and mother, Hazel Mae (Roberts) LeBlanc, who sadly departed this life on Thursday, January 9, 2003, at the young age of 64. She was taken painfully from us following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bass River, Kent County, on May 22, 1938, she was the daughter of Waymon Roberts and the late Alice Cail. Hazel was a loving and devoted wife and mother whose family was the center of her life. Born in Tay Falls, NB, he was a son of the late Samuel and Bessie Painter. Mr. Painter was a farmer, woods worker and worked for the Department of Transportation. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Doreen Joyce Haines (Bliss) of Fredericton and a son, Donald Eldon Painter (Lois) of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Bradley Painter, Andrea Morissette, Justin Bagley and Katherine Bagley; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Rice and Agnes Palmer both of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. 1906 - 2003 À Montréal, le 7 janvier 2003, à l'âge de 96 ans, est décédé Laurent Gauthier, époux de feu Alice Roux. Il a servi avec dévouement et amour sa clientèle à la Maison Buywell pendant 58 ans à titre de boucher et gérant du département des viandes. Il laisse dans le deuil sa fille Madeleine (Pierre Julien), ses petits-fils Sébastien (Claudine Tremblay) et Miguel, ses frères, soeurs, beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux et nièces, ainsi que plusieurs autres parents et amis. The death of Mr. George LeBlanc, of Pitt Street, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday January 8, 2003 at his residence. Born April 20, 1946 in Saint John he was the son of Margaret LeBlanc and the late Edgar LeBlanc. He is survived by two sons John (Lori) LeBlanc of Saint John and Brian (Christine) LeBlanc of Rothesay; one brother; one sister; one grandson Andrew. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424), with visitation on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday January 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. Following Cremation interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery on Monday January 13, 2003 at 10 a.m. Donations made to Romero House or Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
