Born in Cap Pele N.B. she was the daughter of the late Alyre and Alvina (LeBlanc) Landry. Corinne was formerly employed with T.S. Simms. Surviving in addition to her husband Dos are three daughters Angela Morin and her husband David of Saint John, Linda Lafarge and her husband Raymond of Saint John, Debra Murphy and her husband Dr. Michael of St. Stephen, one brother Arthur Landry of Cap Pele, one sister Dom Lorette of Nova Scotia five grandchildren Cheryl White, Lisa Morin, Julie Lafarge, Stephanie Lafarge and Sean Murphy. Predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Thursday January 9, 2003 12 Noon. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site, on January 5, 2003 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Montcalm). Dear father of Paul Croteau (Maureen) of Brantford and Nancy Chivers (Paul) of North Bay. Loving grandfather to "His Buddy" Matthew Chivers of North Bay, Daniel Croteau of Brantford, Tammy Campbell (Dave) of Burlington, Brenda Lapell of Toronto, and great-grandson Gregory Campbell of Burlington. Roger will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters Simone Croteau, Lucienne Mancini, Jean Gingros, Rita Drew and Richard Croteau. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Julienne Berard, Emile Croteau, Conrad Croteau, Lucille Cote and Donald Letarte. Roger was a six year war Veteran and worked for 25 years at Dofasco. The death of Nora M. Doucet of Lincoln, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, January 3rd, 2003. Born in Campbellton on February 25, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Inga (Fitzgerald) and Percy Maltais. Des funérailles ont eut lieu le 7 janvier, à 10 h 30 en matinée, à la cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Hearst, pour Wilbrod Gagnon, domicilié à Hearst, décédé le 1er janvier 2003, à l'âge de 84 ans, à Hearst, Ontario. Il était né le 19 février 1918, à North Stukely, Québec. Il habitait la région depuis 1944. Au moment de sa retraite en 1979, il était gérant de l'entreprise Hearst Lumber. Commissaire diocésain pendant plusieurs années, il fut aussi impliqué dans le mouvement scout et conseiller scolaire. Il était un passionné du jardinage. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Claire, née Guénette de Hearst; 1 fils : Daniel de Santa Fe, Etats-Unis; 3 filles : Sylvie (Robert) Gauthier de Montréal, Marie-Andrée de Hull et Jeanne de Gatineau ainsi que 3 petits-enfants : Magali, Maxime et Sophie. Le père Rémi Lessard a conduit le service funèbre. La dépouille mortelle fut incinérée au crématorium Hillcrest de Matheson. La famille apprécierait des dons au Foyer des pionniers de Hearst.

At the Grand Falls General Hospital, January 4, 2003, Mr. Alyre J. Cyr of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 68 years. He was married to the former Marie Leclerc. Born at Saint-Andre in 1934, he was a son of the late Jim and Rose Cyr. A retired farmer, Mr. Cyr was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, council 7222 of Saint-Andre. He was predeceased by a son, Luc. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Danny of Saint-Andre, Alain (Solange) of Drummond, Rheal (Danielle) of Grand Falls and Eric (Nicole) of Saint-Leonard, ten grandchildren, three brothers, Donald (Greta) and Yves of Sept-Iles, Quebec and Wilbert (Gisele) of Grand Falls, half sister, Jeanne Tardif (Everett) of Saint-Leonard, as well as several nieces and nephews. It is with great sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Jean Fontaine on January 4, 2003. Jean leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his loving wife, Therese (nee Pitre) of 57 years; nine children, Jeannette Staples, Louise (Gilles) Jeanson, Raymond (Gisele), Roland (Caroline), Paul (Shelley), Johnny (Mary), Daniel (Suzanne), Gisele Pottinger (Bob), Monique (Joey) St. Marie; also 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn is Jean's one brother Rosaire; and his two sisters, Sr. Roseanna Fontaine S.F.M.M. de Quebec, and Marie Jeanne Fontaine; his numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Jean enjoyed working as a truck driver for 40 years, finally retiring at the age of 63 from C.N.R. During his retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed many fishing trips and travelling to Edmonton (by train which was a real treat). Dad always looked forward to family gatherings where his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him so much joy and happiness. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. G. Lemoine, and the nurses at Ste. Anne's Hospital. And a special thanks to Louise, Fran, and Sr. Rioux for their care and support shown towards Dad at Villa Youville. A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Wednesday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 rue Des Meurons, with a gathering of family and friends to follow in the Desjardins reception centre. OTTO DALLMAN Otto Dallman, 87, of 826 Second St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. He was born Aug. 14, 1915 in Rokiciny, Poland to the late Wilhelm “William” and Emelia Dallman. Otto and his family came to Canada in 1927 at the age of 12. On Oct. 3, 1938, he was united in marriage to the Mary Betinsky in Saskatchewan. Otto worked as a painter and building contractor in Fort Frances most of his life. He also was a member of the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances. Otto’s first job in the Fort Frances area was in the lumber camps. He was hired in Manitoba to bring a team of horses to a logging camp in the area and upon arrival was offered a job. It was the lakes and the lush landscape that convinced him to call Fort Frances home. He was part owner in KDS Hardware, and served on the school board and the town council in 1958, 1959, 1962, and 1963. Over the years, one of his favourite pastimes was fishing for walleye. His most recent fishing buddies were dear friends Derward Angus and Lil Pihulak. Other hobbies included gardening, coin collecting, inventing, restoring antique cars, and playing cards with friends at the Legion. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur in childhood in 1915 and Reinholt in 1952. Otto is survived by his wife, Mary Dallman of Fort Frances, Ont.; two daughters, Betty Anne and husband, John Kiddell, of Winnipeg, Man., and Marilyn Dallman of Stratford, Ont.; three grandchildren, David and Kelly Kiddell, and Emilia Dallman Howley; and two nieces, Diane and Linda, and two nephews, Leo and Ben, in Alberta. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan 8, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with interment following in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Bigley (Ottawa), Bob Boland, David Kiddell, John Kiddell, Jim McKinnon, and Jay Webb. Honourary pallbearers will be the La Verendrye General Hospital C.C.U. staff. Yvonne Leger Miss. Yvonne Leger, 83, of Villa Providence, Shediac, formerly of Moncton, passed away Saturday January 4, 2003 at the residence. Born October 21, 1919 in Lewisville, she was the daughter of the late Elzear Leger and Évangeline Gaudet. She was former nun with NDSC Congregation, then worked at The Moncton Hospital from where she retired. She is survived by a sister Jeannita Holland (Bill) of Toronto; a brother Rodolphe (Doris) of Moncton; her special cousin Eveline Smith of Moncton; several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Alice; brothers Oswald, and Leonard Leger. Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 and 7 9 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:50). Raymond V. Sears Raymond (Ray) V. Sears, 59, of Moncton passed away at his residence on Friday January 3, 2003. Born in Hicksville, son Robina (Thorne) Sears McQuinn of Sussex, and the late Victor Sears. Ray was President of Ritchie V. Manor II and Sears Residence. He was President of Canaan Lodge Inc. for several years and loved his time at Thornes Brook. Member of the Board of Directors of Moncton Employment & Training Services, Past President of the Moncton Flying Club, former member of the BPOE Elks Lodge, Tweedie Lodge #41 F & AM, and former member of the Jaycees Junior Achievement Program. Ray worked for 31 years in the Insurance Appraisal Business until his new career in 1997 as a Special Care Home Operator. He loved his family and his extended family by diligently working in his Special Care Homes. He enjoyed flying, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved his family. A l'aube de l'an nouveau Soeur Flavie Chaput partit vers on Seigneur, son Dieu. Le 2 janvier 2003 elle quitta cette terre ou elle avait passe 91 ans de sa vie. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa communaute religieuse, les Soeurs du Sauveur a qui elle s'etait donne en 1934, ses freres, soeurs, neveux et nieces qu'elle aimait beaucoup et qu'elle manquait depuis ses annees de retraite a la Maison Notre-Dame, a Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. S. Flavie est nee en 1911 a St. Norbert, Manitoba de Arthur Chaput et Maria Baril. Elle avait cinq freres, Norbert (Emma), Louis de Gonzague (Marie-Ange), Francois-Xavier (Elianne), Camille (Alice), Roland o.m.i. et sept soeurs, Helene s.n.j.m., Heloise Magnan (Marius), Therese s.g.m. Blandine s.d.s., Germaine, Lucie Rossier (Paul), Gabrielle Courchaine (Levis). Etant l'ainee, elle a beaucoup aime les siens. At the early age of five Flavie lived with her aunt Sister Marie Adrienne in St. Alphonse with the Chanoinesses des Cinq-Plaies. She then lived in Letellier with her family and attended school with the Filles de la Croix. In 1931 she obtained her teaching certificate and started her teaching career in the rural school of Montcalm in Notre Dame de Lourdes. Soeur Flavie a donne ses belles annees de service a l'enseignement, surtout des petits. Pendant 40 ans elle avait a coeur de faire aimer le francais. Fidele aux directives de l'Association d'Education des Canadiens francais du Manitoba elle a mis tout son coeur et tout son enthousiasme a l'education francaise et au parler francais de centaine de bambins qu'elle a vu sur les bancs d'ecole. She entered the Congregation of Les Chanoinesses des Cinq-Plaies (Sisters of the Saviour) in 1934. From 1937 to 1977 she taught hundreds of little ones in the primary grades in the village schools of Saint Leon, Saint Lupicin, Haywood, Notre Dame de Lourdes and Precieux-Sang in Saint Boniface. Son amour de Jesus Sauveur a qui elle avait consacre sa vie, l'emêmena aussi a une preparation soignee des classes de catechisme qu'elle donnait aux petits enfants qu'elle initiait aux sacrements. S'etant retiree de l'enseignement, elle s'adonna pendant 15 ans a la pastorale aupres des malades et des personnes qui ne pouvaient se rendre a l'eglise. Beau temps mauvais temps, avec devotion et compassion, elle apportait la communion aux malades et passait du temps a ranimer l'esperance de ceux qui vivaient dans la solitude. Soeur Flavie termina ses jours ici bas dans la priere surtout en egrenant son chapelet pour ceux et celles qu'elle n'oubliait pas. Dans la paix elle nous a quittee ayant passe en faisant le bien. In 1995 Sister Flavie moved from the city to the quietness and peace of the infirmary in Maison Notre Dame in Notre Dame de Lourdes. Surrounded by the Sisters a devoted nursing personnel she lived in peace and in a prayerful attitude. In August 2002 being in need of more nursing care she was transferred to the Foyer Notre Dame. There she ended her long and beautiful pilgrimmage of 91 yeaars in serenity and love of others and of God to whom she had consecrated her life. Funeral mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame de Lourdes church on Tuesday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. preceded by recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Internment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Father Marcel Damphousse and Father Marcel Chaput will celebrate the Eucharist. The Sisters of the Saviour, family and friends will, with sadness and love, part with Flavie to meet her again in her resurrected life. Many thanks to the nursing personnel of Maison Notre Dame, Notre Dame Hospital and Foyer Notre Dame and Father Damphousse for the spiritual assistance given to Sister Flavie in the last days of her life. Gladys Steeves 1899-2003 RIVERSIDE-ALBERT, NB - Gladys Steeves, 103, of Forest Dale Home, Riverside-Albert,NB, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2003 at the home. Gladys was born in Albert County, NB, on December 8,1899, her parents were Herbert and Eliza (Robertson) Taylor, who married in 1888 in Kansas City where Gladys spent her younger years and received her education in the local schools. Gladys was a very special lady and had many unique experiences in her long life. Her grandfather fought in the civil war, after the war he became a US Marshall in Dallas. Gladys as a young child met Theodore Roosevelt in Kansas City. She also remembered meeting Frank James, Jessie James's brother, Gladys also was able to see Haleys Comet twice. She married in 1927 to Mr. Allison Steeves who was Superintendent of Forbes Construction Company and he helped in the building of the Moncton and Scoudouc airport and several highways across the province of New Brunswick. Gladys was an active member of the Salem Baptist Church, she belonged to the Orange Lodge and also was a founding member of the Albert County Hospital Auxiliary. Gladys loved all animals especially horses and dogs, she loved the farm. After the death of her husband in 1960 she resided with her family in Kansas City and Maine. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is predeceased by three siblings, Clyde Taylor, Clara Swett and Dwight Taylor. Gladys was a beloved mother and grandmother who loved her family very much. She also took in several foster children over the years and gave many children a good home , that's the kind of special person Gladys was. She will be deeply missed by her son, Dr. John Steeves and his wife Eva of Skowhegan and Kansas City and by her loving grandchildren, Linda Steeves Haith (Myron) of Kansas, Susan Steeves Fry (Mike) of Palm Desert, California and Wyoming, John Steeves (Diane) of Skowhegan, Dr. Kimberly Steeves Schlehr (Dr. Frank) of Amherst, New York, Jeremy Steeves (Christina) of Skowhegan; also nine great grandchildren, Joshua, Jacqueline, Jane, Spencer, Julia, Madeline, Eva, Isabel and Jack. She will also be deeply missed by foster daughter, Nellie MacPherson Webber (Dale) of Nova Scotia and their daughter Cara and family. The remains will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7 9pm. The funeral service to be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 2pm. Internment will be held in the Shenstone Cemetery, Shenstone at a later date.
