Residing in Ontario are his brothers and sisters; Clair (Mary), Inez (Betty), Betty, Marjorie, Geraldine (Carl), Florence (Andy), a late brother Herbert, a late son Carl and grandson John. Lloyd retired from the McGill faculty of music where he served over twenty years as a piano technician. A man whose musical talents have given much pleasure to family and friends. LAURA I. MOSE Laura Irvine Mose, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont. (and formerly of 1658 Col. Rd. W.), passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 9, 2002. Laura was born in Ireland on June 1, 1911. She immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings in March, 1912. The family homesteaded in Carpenter Township. She was united in marriage to Percy Edward Mose on June 1, 1938. Together they farmed in Carpenter Township until their retirement in September, 1970 when they moved to Fort Frances. Percy predeceased her on July 2, 1978. She moved into Rainycrest in September, 1995 and resided there since. Laura was also predeceased by her parents, Henry and Mary Robinson; by all eight of her siblings; brothers, Henry, Richard, George and Benjamin Robinson; and sisters, Ethel McAllister, Blanche Robertson, Anna Fox and Charolette Morken; two nieces, Winnifred Carpenter and Charolette Edge; and one nephew, Donald Morken. She will be sadly missed by her only daughter, Karen Raine and husband, Garry of Thunder Bay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dora Robinson of England and Ruth Robinson of Vancouver, Anna Mose, Mildred Mose, Mary Mose, Muriel Mose and brother-in-law, Irvin Mose and wife, Amanda. Funeral service for Laura was held at Green Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Mr. David Jury officiating. A private interment to follow at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ont.

September 20, 1937-March 10, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Maurice leaves to cherish his memory, Adeline, his wife of 41 years; and his three children and their families, Guy (Dana), Michel (Linda) and Lynne (Ian) Samson. Papa will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jade, Josh, Lane, Joseph, Lise, Justin, Evan and Emma. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Charlotte, and his brother, Denis (Arlette); Jeannine (Noel), Yvette (Gerry), Alfred (Marilyn), Harvey (Bert), Marcel (Yvonne) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Born and raised in St. Boniface, he was a long time member of the Club LaVerendrye, where he bowled regularly with his friends. What meant most to him was his family, and the wonderful times he shared with them. We will miss his outrageous sense of humour, and his zest for life. He brought laughter and joy to the lives of many friends. He absolutely loved his work and was tremendously dedicated to it. He considered his customers and co-workers among his best friends. As well, Maurice dedicated much of his life to volunteering within the Catholic Church and community. The family wishes to extend a warm and sincere thank you to the St. Boniface Emergency Health Care professionals for their heroic efforts and compassion. Ernest "Ti-Ness" Joseph Desbiens, Extendicare, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 8, 2002. He was 72 years old. Mr. Desbiens was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Val Rita. He worked as a foreman at KC Powerhouse. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, playing horseshoes and playing the fiddle and guitar with friends and family. Mr. Desbiens was predeceased by his father Albert, mother Irène, stepfather Noel Beaudoin, brothers Gabe, Raoul and Paul-Emile Desbiens and sister Juliette (Rodolfe) Deslaurier. He is survived by wife Gisèle Dumoulin of Tweed; son Richard of Vancouver; daughters Denise Desbiens (Dave) Lewis of Kingston and Rhonda (Paul) Brown of Peterborough. Also surviving are sisters Rose Roleau and Jeanette, both of Kapuskasing and Blanche (John) Beaulieu of Harty; brothers Vital (Lucy) and Don (Aurore), both of Kap and Raymond (Myrtle) of Kapuskasing. Mr. Desbiens had five grandchildren: Todd, Tara, Tyler Desbiens Lewis, Jason and Tyler Daly. Rev. Gilles Gosselin directed the funeral service at Immaculée Conception. Mr. Desbiens will be interred at the Kapuskasing cemetery.

LYNNE VAN ROOYEN In loving memory of Lynne Van Rooyen, age 55, who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2002 in Atikokan, Ont. Lynne was born on March 4, 1947 to the late Harold and Anna Clare Tibbs in Pasadena, Texas. She moved with her family to Fort Frances as a young child. Lynne was united in marriage to Adrian Van Rooyen on Sept. 17, 1966, and together they settled in Atikokan. Lynne spent several years volunteering with the Little Theatre Group, spending many hours perfecting the actors makeup. She loved books and would read anything. Her favourite place was the cabin on Rainy Lake. She will be greatly missed by her husband Adrian; son, Scott (Monique), of Riviere Qui Barre, AB; daughter, Gena Van Rooyen of Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Keegan, and Liam; siblings, Marty (Sharon) Tibbs of Fort Frances, Ont.; Raymond Tibbs of San Diego, Ca., Lenne (Ken) Klopfer of Cromwell, CT, and Tommy Tibbs of Minot, N.D. and by numerous nieces and nephews. Lynne was predeceased by her parents Harold and Ann Clare Tibbs. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, Ont., with Rev. Mr. John McInnis officiating. The honourary pallbearers were all of her family and friends. Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont., and interment will take place at a later date. MARCEL EDWARD JOSEPH CHABOT In memory of Marcel Edward Joseph Chabot, who passed away suddenly at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on March 9, 2002, due to a long battle with cancer. He was born July 24, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. He was 32 when he moved to Thompson, Manitoba, where he worked for International Inco for 40 years until he retired. He then moved to Redditt, Ont. Marcel is survived by his wife, Judith Lynne Chabot; step-daughter, Lisa (Babe) & Don Gauthier, grandchildren, John, Michael, Stephan, Don Jr., and Stephane; step-son, Clifford and Tammy Bruyere, grandchildren Warren, Rae Ann, Justice, Jennifer and Joshua. Also surviving from his previous marriage Shannon Jackway, son, Albert, daughter, Debbie (Terry) England, Brenda Lee (Tom Moore), and son-in-law, Luke Wellwood and eight grandchildren. He also is survived by his brothers, Cyril (Eleanor), Emile (Delores), Robert (Julia), Paul (Roberta); sisters, Rose Chabot and Cecile Asselin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Mary Ann Wellwood; two brothers, and three sisters. A memorial service will be held at the Emo Legion on Friday, March 15, at 1 p.m.

BORIS KATERICK Boris Katerick, 72, of 405 Mosher Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital, He was born on Oct. 16, 1929 in LaVallee, Ont., to the late Joseph and Nettie Katerick. Mr. Katerick attended public school in LaVallee and later graduated from the Fort Frances High School. He then attended and graduated from the Forest Ranger School in Dorset, Ont. He had worked for the Ontario Dept. of Lands and Forests and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. He started to work in forest protection and timber scaling and later transferred to Administration in 1962. He was the District Administration Supervisor when he took his early retirement on Dec. 31, 1983. Boris was a member of the Happy Time Club, Sister Kennedy Centre, the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary, an Associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, and a member of the Fort Frances Horticultural Society. He enjoyed the outdoors, picking berries and mushrooms and camping. He also enjoyed gardening and won the Fort Frances Horticultural Society Vegetable Trophy seven times in their annual shows. He loved doing volunteer work through the Volunteer Bureau such as the Revenue Canada Community Income Tax Program, bartending at Rainycrest and driving seniors to the hospital, shopping, the clinic and the bank. He also enjoyed bowling, curling and seniors’ games at Sister Kennedy Centre. Boris is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and his step-sons, Glenn Vandette and Dennis Vandette, both of Fort Frances and Michael Vandette of Calgary. Also surviving is his sister and brother-in-law, Olga and Mel Jaques of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Boris was married to Tina Vandette on Aug. 8, 1970 and she passed away on March 3, 1996. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Friends may visit prior to the funeral service at Green Funeral Home. The pallbearers will be John Koles, John Pohanka, Walter Sobkowicz, Carl Kocuiba, Gordie Calder and George Bartlett. LUCIEN EUGENE LAMBERT It is with great sorrow that the family announce the passing away of Lucien Eugene Lambert, 89, of Fort Frances on Sunday, March 10, 2002. He died peacefully with his family at his side. Lucien was born June 30, 1912 in Pinewood, Ont., to Eugene and Delina Lambert. He spent most of his life in the Rainy River District. He was married to Margaret Gosselin on April 15, 1942. They began their married life in British Columbia and Manitoba returning to Fort Frances in 1945 where they have since resided. Lucien was employed as a bodyman and mechanic in a number of local garages, Stewart Motors, McVeys, Newman’s and retired as a stationary engineer from the Couchiching Residential School. Lucien enjoyed working on cars and took great pride in his work. He loved the outdoors and spent many pleasurable hours hunting, fishing and at his cabin. He was very proud to be Canadian and always kept up with current events. Lucien was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Tetreault; and his brothers, Fred and Adrian. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Irene and Walter Laing of Winnipeg, Lucille Sameluk of Minneapolis, Dennis and wife, Judy Lambert of Fort Frances, Lorraine and Jim Klymko of Steinback, Janet Lambert of Fort Frances, and Elaine Danylchuk of Timmins; as well he leaves fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Denise Marshall of Fort St. John, B.C., and Jeanette Michaud of St. Malo, Man. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. will officiate with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be offered on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church followed by visitation. Gilles Guillemette, 44 Laférrièrre, Fauquier, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 9, 2002. He was 67 years old. Mr. Guillemette was born Nov. 2, 1934 in Fauquier. He worked as a lumberjack and trucker for Spruce Falls Pulp and Paper until retiring in 1985. He was a former firefighter in Fauquier, a member of the Knights of Columbus third degree and enjoyed snowmobiling and woodworking. He was also a huge fan of the Montreal Canadians. Mr. Guillemette was predeceased by his parents and his sister Rachelle. He is survived by wife Jeannette; daughters Lyne (Jacquelin) Ratté and Manon (Daniel) Leveque, both of Fauquier and Julie (Gaétan) Godard of Orleans; sisters Jeannine Leclair and Danielle Bélanger, both of Kapuskasing, Jacqueline Ménard of Smooth Rock Falls, Noèlla Miville of Fauquier, Solange Jacques of Gatineau and Lise Rodack of Geraldton; and brothers Réginald of Moonbeam, René of Kapuskasing, André of Fauquier and Jean-Guy of Gatineau. Mr. Guillemette had three grandchildren: Stéphanie, Nadia and Katrine. Rev. Jean Morin directed the funeral service at St. Agnes Church. Cremation at the Hillcrest Crematorium.

MME CLAREINE CLÉROUX (née Lavergne) Entourée de sa famille, Clareine est décédée paisiblement, à l'âge de 68 ans, le lundi 11 mars 2002. Elle était l'épouse bien-aimée de Rémi Cléroux et mère chérie de Maurice (Lise) et Denise (Guy Villemaire) (Germain); grand-maman adorée de Angèle, Richard, Eric, Sabrina et arrière-grand-maman de Maxime; chère soeur de Réjean Lavergne (Pierrette), (Lorraine). Elle fut prédécédée par ses parents: Aurèle Lavergne et Rose Delima Roy et 1 frère, Richard Lavergne (Sadie). Elle laisse également plusieurs neveux et nièces et sera grandement regrettée par de nombreux ami(e)s. La famille invite parents et amis à la MAISON FUNÉRAIRE HERITAGE, 2871 boul. St-Joseph (à l'ouest de la promenade Place d'Orléans), Orléans, le mercredi et jeudi de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h. Une messe des funérailles sera célébrée en l'église St. Hugues, 3464 ch. Sarsfield, Sarsfield, le vendredi 15 mars à 11h. L'inhumation suivra au printemps à une date ultérieure. Un merci spécial à l'équipe du Centre Elisabeth-Bruyère. Jacques Groulx, 312 Government Road, Kapuskasing, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on March 7, 2002, after a short illness. He was 75 years old. Mr. Groulx was born April 1, 1926 in Chelmsford and arrived in the area in 1963 as a journalist. He also worked as a millwright at Spruce Falls. He was a co-founder of the Centre des Jeunes and enjoyed sports, tennis, fishing, golf and reading. Family members say he was a loving and devoted husband and father. Mr. Groulx was predeceased by his parents Louis and Jeannette, stepmother Rose Blais, and siblings Jean (Ida), Gabrielle Lavoie, Bernadette Cashmore and Madeleine (Raymond) Chartrand. He is survived by wife Dolorès, children Louise (Bert) Fortin, Marc (Maria), Nicole, Julie, Rémi (Claire), Ivan (Louise) and Danielle (Jim) Croteau. Also surviving are brothers Pierre (Estelle), Paul, Alcide, André and sisters Marie Bishop, Berthe MacFarlane, Cécile (Rhéal) Doyle and Claire (Jean Guy) Parent. Mr. Groulx had 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Rev. Louis-Phillipe Bélanger directed the funeral service at Notre Dame des Victoires Church.

At the Montreal Children's Hospital on March 11, 2002 at the age of nine. Beloved son of Rose and Tony. Brother of Paul and Beth. Grandson of Joy South Deguire, Gloria Walden and Noel Walker. Sadly missed by all. The visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des-Ormeaux, on Wednesday March 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Fairview Alliance Church, 220 Hyman Dr., D.D.O. on Thursday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. Donations in his memory to Fairview Alliance Church would be appreciated.
