KAHAN, Lillian (April 8, 1914 - November 9, 2009) With great dignity and in complete peace, Lillian passed away at her home of the past 8 years - Hillel Lodge. She was surrounded by her niece Linda Kerzner, her devoted caregiver and best friend Sally Matook and dedicated helper Shala Samuel. We are forever thankful to the caring and incredible staff at Hillel Lodge, particularly the staff of 3rd Floor East, and the wonderful caregivers who were in her life. MacLACHLAN, Moray Kent Mr. Moray MacLachlan of Lethbridge, Alberta died in his 88th year on November 8th after a long battle with cancer. Predeceased in 1996 by his beloved wife, Mary-Jeanne Adams MacLachlan, he was father and father-in-law to Ian MacLachlan and Diane Clark of Lethbridge and brother to Heather (Bob) Blount of Peterborough and Yolanda (Hugh) Church of Dunellon, Florida. During his long residence in Ottawa, Moray benefited from the kind support of his nephew, Harold (Marion) Blount and enjoyed the fellowship of his good friends at the Laurentian Club and his colleagues at C.A. Fitzsimmons. He resided most recently at Good Samaritan Park Meadows Village whose kind and patient staff did so much to make his final days comfortable. At Moray's request, no service is planned. SCOTT, Margaret Elizabeth (Bremner) - (Longtime Member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church). Peacefully at Rideaucrest on Friday November 6, 2009 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of 51 years to Mitch Scott. Predeceased by her parents Margaret and John Bremner of Parry Sound and her sister Mary Lucas of Orillia. Margaret was born in Parry Sound on October 11, 1918 to the late Margaret and John Bremner, who was a well-known stone mason. Margaret met Mitch in Toronto and they were married in 1958. They enjoyed traveling to the Georgian Bay area for fishing and other excursions. Margaret was an active member over the past 20 years of the “Monday Painters“ and the “QECVI Senior Painters“. She had a great talent of pencil crayon art. Margaret was active with church and painting groups but with the onset of Alzheimer's, she gradually withdrew, stayed home and became resistant to routine. People would remember her in Kingston from 1967-1996. She revived with staff efforts in Rideaucrest, to become an appreciative caring favorite. A very special thank you to the staff at Rideaucrest for the support and care given to Margaret over the last six years. Peacefully on November 7, 2009 at Trillium Health Centre at the age of 82. Predeceased by parents Fred and Jessie Harvie of Thorold; her first husband Roy Shantz (1986) and second husband Arthur Beach (2000); and youngest son Tim Shantz (1999). She will be sorely missed by surviving son Paul Shantz (Ann Dunlop); and granddaughters Elizabeth and Ellen of Toronto; sister Kathleen Pattison (Bruce) of Georgetown; brother Fred Harvie (Shirley) of Niagara Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was a Registered Nurse who graduated from the Mack School of Nursing in St. Catharines. She considered nursing to be more a calling than a career and conducted herself in accordance with its principles throughout her entire working life. Even after retirement, Margaret devoted herself to delivering care to others whenever she was permitted the opportunity and saw a need. She was a fiercely independent person, loved her Pekingese dogs, enjoyed a wonderful marriage with Roy and new experiences with Art, and occasionally indulged a fondness for jewellery.
