GIBSON , Bryce May 7, 1923 - October 10, 2009 Bryce Gibson, who lived in Kelowna for the past twenty years, but was a long-time resident of Calgary, passed away after a short illness on October 10, 2009 at the age of 86. He was born in England where he married Peggy Wright in 1944, and they moved to Canada in 1955. Peggy passed away suddenly in 2003. Bryce is survived by his son Alan (Sybil Murray) of Calgary, daughter Linda Willis (Fred) of Calgary, son Richard (Julie) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and granddaughters, Carissa of Calgary and Mary Grace of Dartmouth. He was a Professional Geologist and life member of APEGGA. The main focus of his career was applying computer methods to geological exploration for several Calgary oil companies. MOORE , James Doran LCdr RCN (Ret'd), CLJ Of Burlington, Ontario, 92, died peacefully at home on November 2, 2009. Born February 20, 1917 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Patrick and Virginia Moore, raised and educated in Calgary, Alberta. He served on various ships in the Canadian and Royal Navies in the English Channel and in the Atlantic Convoy, before Commanding Corvette HMCS Strathroy until 1945. Doran had a successful career with Firestone Canada, which he joined directly following the war. He rose from a sales position in 1945 to become President and CEO in 1969 and Chairman of Firestone Canada in 1979, retiring in 1981. He went on to become President of the Rubber Association of Canada until 1985. His leadership extended well beyond his business and military achievements as he lent his talents to his beloved Church and various charitable organizations in his community. He was Chairman of Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Chairman of St. Joseph's Villa. He served on the boards of the Hamilton and Canadian Chamber of Commerce, The Hamilton Foundation, and the Hamilton Tiger Cats Football Club. He was President of Opera Hamilton, and Campaign Chairman of Hamilton Burlington United Way. He is survived by siblings, the Honorable Kenneth and Audrey Moore, Patricia (Moore) Swartzlander, Virginia (Moore) and Brendan Kelly, and Eileen (Kelly) Moore. He will be deeply missed by his wife Patricia, and his seven children and their families, Marcia and Barry Slater, Patrick Moore and Tamarin Dunnet, Suellen and Gerard Murphy, Barbara and Alex Lawson, Nancy and Paul Murphy, Michael and Diane Moore, and Sarah and Rick Machel. Doran also leaves behind twenty-two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and the legacy of an extraordinary life well lived. PORTER, Geoffrey Roy Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday November 3, 2009, at the age of 60 years, after a long illness. Geoff is predeceased by his mother Viola and leaves behind his father Clifford George; his children, Tracey Johns (Josh) and Jason Comba (Kelly); his granddaughters, Allyson and Charlotte Johns and his sisters Nancy Porter-Cathcart (Bruce) and Amy-Lynne Williams; his niece Jennifer Cathcart, his nephews, Matt Williams (Jen) and Shaun Cathcart (Angela Garneau). Geoff was a enthusiastic employee of the OLG Casino Brantford and will be greatly missed by his many good friends and co-workers there. Special thanks to Bruce Bierman who was such a marvellous friend to Geoff during his illness and to the doctors and nurses of the Critical Care Unit of the Brantford General Hospital. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street Brantford on Saturday from 1-2 pm. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 2 pm. Cremation has taken place. 1923 HAHN 2009 Mr. Albert Bert Jacob Hahn, beloved husband of Mrs. Helen Hahn of Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at the age of 86 years. MARJORIE MARY JENSEN 1931 2009 With great sadness, the family of Marjorie Mary Jensen (nee Pasishnik) announces her passing at the age of 78 years. She is predeceased by her parents Nick and Anne; and brother Martin. Marjorie leaves behind her loving husband Wilfred; precious children Brian (Nadine), Dwight (Shelly) and Allyson; and adoring grandchildren Lee, Cole, Jeanine, and Joshua. Potter-Kemmer, Sharon Potter-Kemmer Sharon Elaine passed away on November 1, 2009 in Regina. Sharon was raised on a farm near Richard, SK. Her family moved to North Battleford when she was still a child. Sharon excelled at scholastic endeavors and was the first in her family to attend university. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1969 and immediately moved to Regina to work for Sasktel. She was proud of the management position which she earned within the company. In her early years Sharon was a devoted member of her church and volunteered as a Big Sister. Unfortunately by the 1980's poor health robbed her of her career and many of her cherished activities. She has resided at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for the last four years. Her indomitable spirit, courage in the face of adversity and unswerving faith have been an inspiration to many. She is mourned and deeply missed. Sharon is predeceased by her father, Clarence Potter. She is survived by her mother, Pearl Potter; sisters, Gloria (Jim) Moore, Catherine (Wayne) Dziad; nieces, Karren (Mario) Ferreira, Shelley (Greg) Moore; nephew, Brent Moore. A Memorial Service will be held for Sharon at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Chapel, 2nd Floor, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina with Rev. Dr. Rex Wilson April, 1925 November 3, 2009 Dr. Rex Wilson passed away peacefully on November 3, 2009 after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen; his only brother, Ivan (Eileen); daughters, Layna Wilson, Joanne (Gordon) Wiley; grandchildren, Aaron, Christie, Jeff; and greatgrandchildren, Ciara, Noah and Lucas. Rex was born in Leeds, England where he spent his early years and served with the R.A.F. Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He immigrated to Canada where he spent his professional career with the Federal Government (Health of Animals Branch). Rex was a past member of the Regina Rotary Club and the Wascana Country Club. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Ming Fok, Stan and the Nursing Staff of the Emergency Department and Unit 5E at the Regina General Hospital for such compassionate care, support and kindness. In keeping with Rex's wishes, a private family service will be held. BIEKER, Mrs. Elizabeth (nee Stadelman) Mrs. Elizabeth Bieker went home to be with Jesus. Her death occurred at her residence, St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt. She was 94 years of age. Elizabeth was born on October 23, 1915, to Anton and Mary (nee Rey) Stadelman at home on their farm near Englefeld. On June 12, 1932, she married Gregor Greg Bieker, and they were blessed with five children, four daughters and one son. Elizabeth and Greg farmed at Englefeld from 1932 to 1968 and, in 1951, they moved to Saskatoon. While living there, they belonged to St. Joseph's Parish, where Elizabeth was a member of the C.W.L., and involved with the eucharistic ministry team and pastoral care. Greg passed away in 1981. In 1995, Elizabeth moved into St. Anne's Residence in Saskatoon and, in 2003, she became a resident of St. Mary's Villa, her home until the present. "Her faith and family were her greatest priorities. " Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Dolores (Stan) Stroeder of Humboldt; Ron (Diane) Bieker of Branson, MO; Marge (Ed) Hujber of Red Deer, AB; Vyenda (Dennis) Korte of Humboldt; and Lisa (Dean) Clark of Outlook; 15 grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren, and two great-greatgranddaughters; one sister, Pauline Breker of Melfort; one brother-in-law, Wallace Hansen of Saskatoon; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws of the Bieker family. The Prayer Service for Elizabeth will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., and the Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Both services will be held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt. Interment will follow at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery. She is also survived by brother, John Watson (Maple Creek); and sister-in-law, Norah Hawn (Lethbridge); as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. She is also survived by close family friends Marion and Lenard Fehr (Maple Creek). She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas, just eight months ago. BUDZAK William "Bill" Alexander It is with great sadness that we announce dad's passing. William "Bill" Alexander Budzak, age 74, died at home on October 30th, 2009 of natural causes. Born August 28th 1935 in Carpenter, Saskatchewan, he lived most of his life in the lower mainland and worked for Domtar Construction Materials and HAL Industries until retiring in 2001. Survivors include his spouse, Harlene, his two sons and their families; Darrin, Tammy, Alexandra and Andrew and Dale, Lisa and Nathan. His sisters, Darlene Ellchuk and Carol Yaniw and many dear members of his family and friends. William was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Polly. No service will be held. EGLI Emil March 15, 1915 - October 24, 2009 Passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital. Born in Tawatinaw, Alberta, to Emil and Emma Meier Egli, Emil will be missed by his sister Ann Anderson (Bill), his nephews Gordon Anderson, Gilbert Anderson, David Egli and Gerry Egli, and many more extended family and friends. Emil was a prospector in the Yukon, and a logger, beachcomber and fisherman in B.C. He was a union man, a world traveler and a community activist. Thank you to all who provided care to and for Emil. SHARMAN Rachel Marie May 17th, 1990 - October 31st, 2009 It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our cherished daughter and sister Rachel Marie Sharman. From the moment she entered our lives she brought a sparkle and sense of joy that we will carry in our hearts forever. Rachel was a loyal friend and was loved by so many. She had a strong sense of justice, felt things deeply and regardless of the personal cost she always championed the underdog. We will miss her beautiful smile. Rachel embraced challenge, enjoyed competition and had a wonderful sense of adventure yet she was as comfortable curled up with a book in the corner as she was fearlessly flying down a mountain on skis. Whether it was in her photography, her sense of fashion or in her art, Rachel achieved her goals with a stubborn determination. Rachel is survived by her parents Doran and Annmarie Sharman, sister Caitlin, grandparents Robert (Bob) and Dorothy Sharman and extended family and friends.
