ZUIANI, Esther - Passed away peacefully on Monday August 10, 2009 in her 88th year at the Ajax Pickering Hospital. Predeceased by her loving husband Fermino. Loving mother of Diana (Michel) St. Denis, Marjorie (Bruno) Smania and Barbara (Paul) Senior. Proud grandmother of Jennifer, Lynne, Pierre, Kimberly Anne and great-grandmother to Kian, Taven, Antonio, Santino, Bianca and special “GeeGee“ to Ashley. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister. She will be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family will receive friends at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME (28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, 905 428-8488) on Saturday August 15, 2009 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Sudbury at Parklawn Cemetery on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. If one desires, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. OLIVER, Yolanda Melena (nee Frattini) - In loving memory of Yolanda Melena Oliver (nee Frattini), 85 years, who passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Extendicare York. Born in Copper Cliff, she married Edward in 1946. Yolanda, was a member of the CWL for over 50 years, former president and member of the Club Allegri and was a former employee of Venturi's Grocery Store in Coniston. Family was the most important thing in her life. She was also a caregiver. She enjoyed picking berries, going to the family cottage and loved to cook. Beloved wife of Edward “Eddy“ Oliver (predeceased 2000). Loving mother of Donald Oliver (wife Alice) of Coniston. Cherished grandmother of Carrie- Lynn Oliver of Sudbury, Monique Burke (Wayne) of Chelmsford, Jennifer McMahon (Jason) of Fergus, Jason McMahon of Garson and great grandmother of Kyle Burke, Jordan, Jersey McMahon and Alyxandra Inglis. Predeceased by her parents Emilio and Elisa Frattini, her sisters Flora Dal Bianco (late Paul), Marjorie Mathias (late George), her brothers Orlando (wife Edith), Guido and Nello (wife Reynelda). Dear aunt of several nieces and nephews. Special sister-in-law of Tiziano Oliver (wife Lina) of Coniston, Leo Oliver (wife Lilian), Rena Marinello, Emilia Venturia and Gino all predeceased. Arnie was an avid outdoorsman in his spare time. He was a dedicated volunteer at Northern Initiative for Social Action, where he was studying to be a computer technician. Born in Jonquière Qc, September 12, 1918 to Philippe and Claudia (née Simard) Gagné, both predeceased. Wife of the late Armand Denis (predeceased in 1986). Loving mother of Lisette Gagné, Yvan Denis (wife Elise), Ghislaine Denis (husband Stephane Vallée), Vivianne Houle, Nicole Michaud (husband Gary) and Alain Denis (wife Carol). Predeceased by her son-in-law Alfred Gagné, sisters Alberta Gagné, Fernande Gagné, Irène Laberge, brother Lauréat and granddaughter Carole Gagné. Will be sadly missed by her godson Michel, her grandchildren André, Daniel, Dwayne, Joanne, Ginette, Lynn, Brett, Marc, Jennifer, James, Mélanie, Stephane as well as by her 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. MILLER, Lois - Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother at 80 years of age, passed away in her home Thursday, August 13, 2009. She was born in Ontario, Canada and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Toronto Western Hospital. Lois practiced in all fields of nursing and her career spanned more than thirty years but her passion for learning never ceased. Born January 26, 1929, she is survived by her loving husband, George, her daughters, Janet and her husband, Mark; Debra and her husband Roy; her sons, Peter and his wife Glenna; Scott and his wife Monica; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One of twelve, she is also survived by sisters, Helen Dafoe and Ina Kryschuck both from Ontario, Canada. Her surviving brothers include, Donald, Robert and his wife, Joyce, Vernon Flindall and his wife, Jean also from Ontario, Canada. Lois will be deeply missed by all. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the BREWITT FUNERAL HOME, 14 Pine St. Exeter, NH. BIEMAN, Lowell John Frederick - of Foxboro, passed away at Quinte Health Care on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Clarke) Bieman. Dear father of Nelson (Shelly) Bieman and Cathy (Bill) Wittekoek, all of Foxboro. Dear grandfather of Kelsey and Kyle Bieman and Danielle Wittekoek. Mr. Bieman was predeceased by his parents, the late Nelson and Davina Bieman; by one brother, Raymond; and by a sister, Merelda Mills. He is also survived by sister-in-law Peggy Bieman, of Burlington, and by several nieces and nephews. Lowell will also be sadly missed by his dog, Charlie. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the STEELE FUNERAL HOME, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville. (613-968- 2273). At the family's request, there will be no visitation. John Charles (Chuck) (Charlie) Fitzgerald, Nictaux South Born at Georgetown , Prince Edward Island , Canada 66 of Nictaux South, N.S., passed away Monday, August 10, 2009, at home. Born in Georgetown, P.E.I., he was a son of the late William and Nettie (Walker) Fitzgerald. Chuck spent 30 years in the RCAF. He was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast and loved his dogs almost as much as his family. He is survived by his wife, the former Susan Shewchuk; daughter, Karen (Tony) Hamilton, Halifax; son, Jason (Cindy), Kentville; sister, Gertrude (Billy) Murphy, Arnprior, Ontario; half-sisters, Fran Burke, Charlottetown; Kaye (Walter) Conohan, Seal River, P.E.I.; Mary Gauthier, Stanhope, P.E.I.; Adelle (Bob) Stewart, Cornwall, P.E.I.; half-brothers, Jimmie (Georgina) Fitzgerald, Oliver, B.C.; Lennie (Hilda) Fitzgerald, Chilliwack, B.C.; grandchildren, Alyssa, the "Apple of his eye" and Kyle, his "Right hand man". DUCE, Vera Edith 2009-08-13 Mrs. Vera Edith Duce, age 99, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 with her family by her side. Born February 24, 1910 in Silver Mountain to Elizabeth & Albert Wilson, Vera was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Throughout her 99 years she had numerous jobs and touched many of lives. She is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Albert Wilson, husband George after 72 years of marriage, son George Jr. (Buster) as well as sons-in-law Frank Walsh, Norman Murray, and Robert Crocker, grandson Raymond Negley, brothers Harvey Wilson, Louis Wilson, and sisters Florence Olson, Aurllee McLeod, Hazel Bella Frost, and Mabel Hill. Vera is survived by her children Mildred Walsh, Mulvina Murray, Lionel (Anne), Joyce Belair, Darlene Crocker, Thomas (Audrey), daughter-in-law Betty Duce as well as her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. ROSE, Margaret 2009-08-14 Margaret Sarah Rose (nee Anderson) age 82 of Thunder Bay died as she lived, peacefully and quietly, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in St. Joseph‘s Palliative Care Unit. Margaret was born on April 5, 1927 at Petrolia, Ontario. She was raised and educated in Sarnia, Ontario and moved to the Lakehead in 1967 with her family. Margaret worked for Dr. Garry Post, DDS for many years. Margaret is survived by her son Daniel (Lori), daughter Janice Harmer (Glen) granddaughter Jena Rose Markus (Tyler Curtis), and step-grandchildren Ryan (Bonnie Woods) and Dana Harmer and Ben, Anna and Brooklyn Spanninga. Also surviving is her recently born great-granddaughter Madison Curtis and her great-step-grandchildren Nicholas and Michenzie Harmer and Peyton Gribble, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Cameron and Maude (Long) Anderson and her brother and sister-in-law Ross and Barbara Anderson. Cremation has taken place. As per Margaret‘s wishes a service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 12:30 pm in the Viking Room of the Valhalla Inn officiated by Rev. Ken Moffatt . PHILLIPS, Kathleen ‘Joanne' of Barrie- Passed away peacefully in her own home on Monday August 10, 2009 surrounded by her family. Joanne was a loving wife, a devoted mother and an awesome grandmother. She was born on October 22 1927 in Laporte Indiana. .Joanne's strength and perseverance had been tested many times over the years as she has endured much grief. She lost her beloved husband and friend Allan Phillips, her cherished grandson Ryan Lazazzera, her eldest brother Robert Jonas (Rosemary) of Kingston Ontario and the most heartbreaking loss of all, her eldest daughter Kathy Warner (Arnie) of Richmond Hill this past April. She is survived by her youngest daughter Patricia Phillips (Jeremy Pollard) of Barrie and her grandchildren Erin and Chris Warner and Kara Lazazzera (Gary Plunkett) as well as her youngest brother Gerald Jonas (Dorothy) of Toronto. Joanne will be remembered for her strong independent spirit, her kind ways, her keen wit and her devotion to her family. Predeceased by his parents Amabile and Aurelio Nicoletti and his brother Daniel. Uncle of Leanne Hodgson. Joseph was called to the bar in 1969. He was a very well respected lawyer in Niagara Falls for 40 years, practicing in all areas of law. In the little spare time he had, he enjoyed wood-working, gardening and watching his son play hockey. Most of all enjoyed his family and quality time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a great friend to many and will be missed. At his personal request, cremation has taken place. He will be missed as he touched the lives of many people with his positive attitude and contagious smile. MORGAN, Kathleen Dorothy Violet (Monks) - Died peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Surrey Memorial Hospital in her 82nd year. Kathleen is survived by her children, Coleen Morgan, Margaret (John Elcich), and John Morgan (Betty). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Eammon, (son of the late David Morgan) and sister Roisin, Christopher, Angela, Andrew, Sindy (Mike Smith), Kayleen, David and three great grandchildren, Elrissa, Eathan and Chase. She will be missed by her precious kittens, Little Buddy, Toby & Jenny who will be loved and well taken care of. Kathleen is also survived by her brother William Monks of Niagara Falls, sister Margaret Yager of Windsor and her sister-in-law Blodwyn George of Welland and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved husband Glyn (1980), her precious son David (1984) her parents, William and Violet Monks, sisters, Violet and Darlene, brothers Ronnie, Desi and Clifford. SMITH, Roy Russell - was born February 17, 1924 in Clinton Township of Lincoln County. Roy passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Franklin (Ada) of Welland, Richard (Georgia), Melvin, Glenda (Garry Hyde) of Fort Erie, Gary (June) of Windsor, Wayne (Cathy) of Port Colborne, step daughter Cyndi Svob of St. Catharines as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roy leaves behind a beloved friend Jean Kline and her family. Roy was predeceased by his daughter Sandra and wives Rose, Helen and Mary. Roy retired from the International Nickel Plant of Port Colborne and was a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. A celebration of Roy's life will be held at a later date. Après les funérailles, M. Brousseau a été incinéré et les cendres ont été inhumées au cimetière Arvida. Il était le fils de feu Mme Rosanna Ducharme et de feu M. Théophile Brousseau. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Alain Brousseau (Guylaine Foster), André (Chantale Simard), Annie (Eric Gilbert), Ivan (Linda Pilon); ses petits-enfants: Marc, Mélissa, Carl, Yves, Carole-Anne, Benoît, Tommy; son arrière-petite-fille: Louanna. JOHNS, Gordon Arthur Peacefully in hospital on Monday, August 10, 2009 in his 83rd year. Gord was born in Galt and raised in Toronto, he attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering, class of 1948; he was a retired member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. He will be remembered as an educator through his teaching positions in Chemistry, Stationary Engineering and Building Systems Technology at Algonquin College, 1968-1991. Gord was the husband of Nell, cherished father of Paul (Kelly), Donald and Carol-Ann (Goffin), and dear grandfather of Daniel and Patrick. Gordon was predeceased by his brother Arnold and sister Edna. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful nurses of the Bruyere Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion, and a very special thank you to Christine Haberl from We Care Home Health Care Services. In keeping with his final wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elisabeth Bruyere Foundation. Costello and Harry Pollock, also her son-in-law Gordon Patrick Shaw and infant daughter Sheila. Besides her daughters Carole Shaw (Joe Mell), Sr. Lorraine Costello, C.N.D., she also leaves to mourn her grandchildren Darla Shaw (Harry Meredith), Rande Shaw and her treasured great-grandchildren Carly Lorena and Ryan Gordon Meredith. She will be fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Lorne (Larry) Costello. Resting at Feron's Funeral Home 2630 Notre Dame Street West, Montreal, Qc.
