Jonathan "Trent" Gallant The death occurred suddenly on August 6, 2009, of Trent Gallant of Stratford and formerly of Oyster Bed Bridge. OBITUARY HUGH HAUGLAND Mount Laurier - Hugh Haugland, forty-four, was killed Wednesday morning, August 5, 2009 in a helicopter accident while on assignment for CTV News. He is survived by his daughters Yvonne (19), Lianne (14) and their mother Lynn Rainville, and by his partner Francine Maille and her daughters Carolane (15) and Melanie (12), as well as mother Nancy Peck, father Bill Haugland, stepmother Linda Haugland, sister Heidi, and brothers Matt and James. When the tragedy occurred, Hugh, a CTV News camera operator, was filming the aftermath of severe tornadoes that had passed through the region the previous day. Moments before the accident, he was photographed climbing into the ill-fated helicopter with a cast on his arm the result of a recent mountain bike mishap and a smile on his face. He wore both because he died the way he lived, with energy, enthusiasm, and a lightness of being that enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. Hugh was passionate about many things: cooking, astronomy, the outdoors. Above all, he lived for his two beautiful girls. A current resident of Boisbriand, Hugh spent his childhood years in the Lake Champlain region of northern Vermont. The woods and waters captured Hugh's imagination, and he relished any opportunity to spend a week, a day, or even an afternoon, in the region. On any given Saturday morning, when most of us were still asleep, Hugh could be found building a treehouse with his daughter, cutting a path to the family cabin, or canoeing through the reeds and mist. We all dream, but Hugh lived his dreams everyday in deliberate and meaningful ways. Hugh's passion was equally evident in a career spanning twenty-four years and countless adventures. From Hurricane Katrina and the 9/11 terrorist attacks to his award-winning footage of the Saguenay floods, Hugh always got the shot, and the shot always told the story that needed to be told. Hugh's colleagues remember him as a tireless and committed worker whose compassion and kindness were reflected through his camera lens. For his family, Hugh is and always will be watching sunsets at the Hill, dreaming of time spent with the girls, hiking off to the next big project and flashing a grin that hints at a life well-lived. Hugh was respected; he was loved; he will be missed. Family, friends and colleagues will gather at a memorial service at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex in the Mount Royal cemetery at 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 10. GREEN , David (Dave) John Charles August 15, 1951 - August 3, 2009 Dave, beloved husband of Thelma of Calgary, passed away on August 3, 2009 at the age of 57 years. Dave was born on August 15, 1951 in Liverpool, England, he graduated from Maghull Grammar School and started his career with British Telecom. He met Thelma in 1969 and they were married in April of 1973. They then immigrated to Canada in 1975 to work for AGT in Edmonton and lived in Sherwood Park for twenty years. He was an active member of Ivanhoe Lodge No. 142 for many years. In 1995 Dave and Thelma relocated to Calgary, with Telus, where he worked until retiring in May 2007. His life revolved around golf and he was a member of the Country Hills Golf Club - his buddies there will miss him. Dave was a loyal friend and brought joy to everyone he knew with his humorous personality. Dave's gourmet dinners were relished by many friends and family. Dave is survived by his devoted wife Thelma, sister Val (Gerry), nephews Chris, Sean and Kevin, niece Yvonne, his dearest cousin Gary (Susan) and other family members in Canada and England. He was predeceased by parents Peg and Doug and in-laws Lil, Bill and Pam. WILLIAMS , Joyce (nee Yorath) January 16, 1916 - August 5, 2009 Joyce Williams, beloved wife of the late James B. Williams of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the age of 93 years. Joyce was born in Saskatoon, SK, in 1916. She also lived in Edmonton until she was five years and then Calgary thereafter. She received her education at St. Hilda's School and at Strathcona Lodge School, Vancouver Island. On June 29, of 1938, she married her husband Jim. In the early 1960's, she served as a Member of the Executive including president of the United Appeal, prior to the amalgamation of the Residential and Corporate campaigns into the United Way. Joyce was a member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club, the Calgary Polo Club and was also a lifetime honorary member of the Samaritan Club. Her best vacations were to England from 1934 to 1935 and many winters spent in Maui. Joyce is remembered by her son Dick (Susan) of Calgary; two grandchildren, Jeff (Nicole) and Stephen (Tracey); two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Emma; brother-in-law Jeffery Williams of Surrey England; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, her parents and her brothers Eric and Dennis Yorath. Ronald Francis Gallant, Summerside The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, August 6, 2009, of Ronald Francis Gallant of Miscouche and formerly of Kensington, P.E.I., age 57 years. Ronnie was born on August 17, 1951, in Greenvale, P.E.I., to his late parents, Edward and Mabel (nee Arsenault) Gallant. Lovingly remembered by his common law wife, Juliette Squarebriggs; his daughter, Lori (Darrell) White of Millet, Alberta; and her mother, Lillian Ingles of Lower Sackville, N.S.; and his special grandson, Zachary White. Survived by his sister, Mildred (Junior) Paynter of North Bay, Ontario, and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and cousins. Besides his parents, Ronnie was predeceased by brothers, Leroy, Arnold and Francis and half-sister, Angie MacDonald. GOOD, Robert 2009-08-07 Robert Good passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Thunder Bay on August 4, 2009. He was born in Fort Frances Ontario November 20, 1959. Robert is survived by his brother Gerry (Angie) and loving sister Veryl. He is also remembered by friends including Mike, Tyler, Danny, Joe, Stuart, and Peter. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Violet, nephew Jason, brother-in- law Wayne and several friends. Cremation has taken place. At Robbie‘s request there will be no service. His remains will be taken to Fort Frances. Sweet dreams, my wonderful brother, go flying - you‘re free now.

Né le 6 juillet 1915 à Saint-Joseph, il était fils de feu Arthur Gaudet et de feu Albina Gaudet. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Marguerite (Landry) Gaudet; deux filles: Simone (Alvin) Deveau de Moncton et Rachel (Armand) Landry de Saint-Joseph; deux fils: Robert Gaudet (Yvonne) et Roland (Sherrie) Gaudet, tous deux de Dieppe; deux soeurs: Sr Rose-Marie Gaudet n.d.s.c. de Moncton et Aurore (feu Adrien) Cormier de Saint-Joseph; un frère, Alfred (Laurette) Gaudet de Saint-Joseph, ainsi que sept petits-enfants, trois arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Un petit-fils, Mario; une soeur, Catherine, ainsi que cinq frères: P. Leonard c.s.c., P. Romeo, P. Robert c.s.c., Joseph et Trefflé, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. M. Gaudet a travaillé au dépar tement de comptabilité de l’Institut de Memramcook et a été vendeur d’assurances pour Southeastern Mutual Fire Ins et pour Assomption Vie, jusqu’à sa retraite. Il a été membre du conseil d’administration de South eastern Mutual Fire Ins, membre de la Société historique de Memramcook et membre fondateur de la Caisse populaire de Memramcook. Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Dupuis de Memramcook, le vendredi 7 août, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le samedi 8 août, de 9h30 à 10h30. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Thomas-de-Memramcook de Saint-Joseph, le samedi 8 août, à 11h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. McDIARMID, George Robert - everybody called him Bob, passed away in Vancouver, on the second of August, this year after too many years battling cancer. One of his last wishes was that his family and friends will remember what smoking does to the human body. Survived by his wife, Elda Forrotti McDiarmid, formerly of Port Colborne, two adult children, Laura and Ross, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Brothers Dr. Garnet McDiarmid of Port Colborne and Raymond McDiarmid of Markdale, Ontario, also mourn his passing. Bob served the last three years of WWII in the Royal Canadian Air Force, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He retired from employment with Eatons in Vancouver and enjoyed revisiting friends in Welland and Port Colborne. A memorial service will follow cremation. Interment will be in Vancouver.

HRYNUIK, Mitchell - Peacefully at the SAH, with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Hrynuik. Good friend of Myrtle Buller. Loving father of Brenda deBruyne, Jean-Marie King (Terry) and the late Bobby Hrynuik. Proud grandma of Jimmy, Kelley, Alaina, Ben and Adam. Mitch was the youngest and last surviving of six brothers. MEITZ, Diane Laurene (Whigham) - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Diane Laurene (Whigham) Meitz on August 3, 2009 in Lloydminster, Sk. Diane was born in Stratford, Ont on March 24, 1961. Much loved daughter of Laurene (Thiel) (Whigham) and her husband Ron Smith of St. Marys, Ont and the late George Whigham of Brantford, Ont. Diane grew up in Brantford, Ont and on June 22, 1985 she married Tim Meitz. They lived in Red Deer, AB, Prince George, BC and then Lloydminster, Ab. Wonderful, loving mother of Eric Meitz and Jason Meitz at home and dearly loved wife of Tim. Loved sister of Sheryl Whigham and her husband Roger Pamplin and their daughters Megan and Amy Pamplin of Brantford, Ont and brother Steven Whigham, his wife Evelyn and their daughters Jamie and Melissa Whigham of Kitchener, Ont. Predeceased by her grandparents S. Lloyd and Annie Thiel and Harry and Lillian Whigham all of Ontario. She will be greatly missed by her mother-in- law Tommie and her husband Walter Yackle of Edmonton, Ab and father-in-law Del Meitz and Marnie Telford of Hamilton, Ont; brother-in-law Phil and his wife Dawn Meitz and their children Ariel and Logan of Hamilton, Ont; sister-in-law Beth and her husband Jeff Heard and their children JD and Andy of Morinville, Ab. A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and The Canadian Cancer Society.

John was a retired Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces, was involved in the United Nations as well as the Canadian Military for over 35 years.
