COX, Gerald “Gerry“ Marshall - of R.R. #2 Teeswater passed away at his late residence on Thursday, August 6th, 2009 in his 60th year. Beloved husband of the former Susan McDonald. Loving father of Brenda Hayhurst and her husband Rod of Brantford, Terry Kitchen and her husband Tyler of Paris, Denise Chesney and her husband Pat of Cargill and Jennifer McNeil and her husband Dan of Wingham. Sadly missed by grandchildren, Kelly and Taylor Hayhurst, Paige Kitchen, Rick, Keith and Crystal Chesney and Haley and Jasmyn McNeil. Dear son of Zitta Cox of Brantford. Brother of Susan Verheyen and her husband Joe of Alberta, Reg Cox of British Columbia, Joanne Reeve and her husband George of Cambridge and Marie Clarke and her husband Rob of Brantford. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Donald Cox and Wally Cox. Gerry proudly drove a school bus for over 20 years from which he had many fond memories. RICHARDSON, William “Bill“ D. - At his residence on Saturday August 1, 2009. William “Bill“ D. Richardson of Woodstock in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Margaret Ann (nee McKay) Richardson. Dear father of Terry Richardson of Mississauga, Helen Horvath (Andy) of London, Sharon Laird (Gary) of Princeton, Cliff Hie (Kathy) of Woodstock, Donna Findlayson (late William) of London and Linda Stansbury of Brantford. Loved grandfather of many grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Dear brother of Dorothy Baker (Stan) of Uxbridge and brother-in-law of Eva Herbert of Brantford, Ethel McKay of Paris and William McKay (Pearl) of St. John's, NB. Predeceased by his brother-in- law Ian McKay. Bill was married to Margaret Ann on November 25, 1966. During his life, Bill was a fireman with the Paris Fire department. He was the head custodian at Brantford Collegiate Institute where he also saved the school from burning to the ground. He owned an ice, wood, fuel and coal business. Bill always worked in management with every job he held. For three months, Bill went through for Doctoring. He served in WWII with the RCAF, where he pulled a man from his burning plane and also had his medals stolen. After his retirement, Bill worked in a parking garage. BROUSE, Glen Hubert - With sadness we announce Glen's death, four months after the loss of Gayle, his wife of 53 years. Glen is survived by a sister Jean Smith (British Columbia) and predeceased by his brother Carl. Glen is survived by Gayle's sisters Karon Falk (John), Sharleen Smillie (Ian), Fran Tassone (Tony) and Paula as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Glen was a retiree of Fleet Industries and an active Board Member of the Fort Erie Community Credit Union. Glen was fortunate to have Jenny Chambers and Ross Riddell as dedicated friends who oversaw his care. Special thanks go to the Heart-to-Heart Personal Support Worker Marianne who took such good care of Glen in his final days and to Elizabeth from Para- med and Cathy from Red Cross for their ongoing care and The Rev. CRAWFORD, Sarah (Sadie) - peacefully at home with her children on Sunday, Aug. 2 in her 86th year. Sadie was the beloved wife of the late Harry Crawford (2004) who stole her heart while a soldier in Scotland; loving mother of Harry, Jr. and Diana Bridges; loving grandmother of Sarah Curtis and Jessica Kent; and great-grandmother of Aden, Jack and Lochlan. YOUNGS, William McKenzie (Mac) C.D., B.A. - (armiger - Lord Lyon grant) on August 3, 2009 in his 89th year. Born 28th of September, 1920 in Chippawa, Ontario, the son of John Gilmour Hay Youngs and Anna Muriel Jane McKenzie. Educated at King George V Public School, Stamford Collegiate Institute and McMaster University (graduate in Political Economy, year 41). Mac served as a radar technician in the R.C.A.F. overseas 1941-1945 (United Kingdom and Middle East Forces - 244 Squadron, R.A.F.). After the war he taught at Perth Collegiate Institute (1946-1959) and at Alderwood Collegiate Institute, Etobicoke (1959-1976). Loving husband of the late Mary McGregor Mallinson of Edinburgh, Scotland, dear father of David Stewart McGregor Youngs (Dayle) and Kathryn Muriel McKenzie Knight (James) and proud grandfather of Jeremy James McKenzie Knight and Cory Alexander Knight. Predeceased by his dear brother Gerald Robert Youngs of Kitchener. Cremation followed by private service and burial in the family plot at Holy Trinity Church, Chippawa. WALTERS, Theodore "Ted" , Veteran WWII RCAF Burma Squadron 435. Suddenly at home on Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 at the age of 88. Formerly of Guelph, Ted was son to the late Carl and Edith Walters. Fun-loving husband of 65 years of Winifred Brown. Generous and understanding dad of Carol Klaver (Ted), Tom and Deborah. Gentle and kind papa of Trevor Walters, Jason, Todd and Sean Klaver and Ryan, Matthew and Courtney Gough, and great-grandfather of Ashley, Austin, Logan and Lynden Klaver. CYR , Phillip Edward Phillip Edward Cyr passed away suddenly at the age of 60 years. Phillip will be lovingly remembered by his son Jason, brother Jerry, sisters Joanne (Bryan) Pinney, and SuAnne (David) Andersen. Also left to mourn is Jason's mom Donna, and his nieces and nephews Samara, Danielle, Spencer, Kirsten, Logan, Matthew and Andrew. DYCK , Ronald (Ron) Wayne May 5, 1950 - August 3, 2009 Ronald Dyck, beloved husband of Elaine Dyck of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the age of 59 years. FOX , Richard (Dick) Richard (Dick) Fox passed away August 5, 2009 at the age of 73 years. Richard was born and raised in Calgary. He attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent most of his career working in consulting firms specializing in land development. Besides his wife Betty, Richard is survived by his children Diane Fox (Glen Brown), Debra Sinclair of Vancouver, and grandchildren Steven, Sherilyn and David Sinclair; his sister Elaine Fox; brothers-in-law Harold Greenfield of High River and Robert Lee of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents Peter and Vera and his sister Eleanor Lee. Richard enjoyed golfing and curling and was a long-time member of the Elks Golf Club and the Calgary Curling Club. He was known for his great sense of humor and was always the life of a party. The family is grateful for the loving care he received from the staff at Bethany Harvest Hills. MARSHALL , Elinor L. (nee Neumeyer) March 6, 1912 - August 5, 2009 Elinor Marshall passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the age of 97 years. Elinor was born March 6, 1912 in Spring Lake, Alberta. Elinor began her teaching career in a one-room school house in central Alberta. In 1929 after her marriage to Claude, they moved to Calgary where she worked for the Alberta Government for a brief period before returning to the class room. Elinor and Claude loved travelling, and to play duplicate bridge. She was a gifted piano player, and in later years loved to entertain residents of the lodges where she lived. Elinor was predeceased by her husband Claude in 1987. Heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at the Cochrane Bethany Care Centre for their compassionate care and friendship given to Elinor. MORIN , Gordon "Gordie" Jack Gordie passed away peacefully in Canmore, AB on August 3, 2009, at the age of 82. Gordie grew up in Gull Lake, SK and later moved to Calgary where he worked in the building construction and oil industries. Gordie had a passion for the outdoors and upon his retirement, took up residence in Kananaskis Lower Lake and finally in Canmore. Gordie is survived by his brother Donald Morin; sisters: Mary Assel, Blanche Kozroski, Mabel Moller and numerous nieces and nephews, located in western Canada and in the US, who he was very proud of. Gordie was predeceased by his parents: Toby and Clara Morin; wife Helen and son Melvin; brothers; Alvin, Irvin, Clayton and Peter; sisters: Hellen Sydenham, Evelyn Katan, Adeline Morin and Irene Morin. Always ready with a story and a laugh, Gordie was an easy conversationalist. He was generous in spirit, with his time and hospitality - his "Newfie ribs" and his annual jamborees were legendary. Gordie's family and friends would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at the Bow River Lodge in Canmore, for the care they offered during his years there. She was predeceased by her parents, Walenty and Katarzyna Krzeszowiec and sister Maria Socha of Poland. She will be sadly missed by her brother Edward of Poland, Alfred (Teresa) Krzeszowiec of Kirkland Lake, Marta (John) Graham of White River, Ontario and great-nieces/nephew, Monica and Lisa Krzeszowiec and Olivia and Noah Graham. She will be lovingly remembered by her dear friend, Teresa Krawczyk and family of Uxbridge, and also by many nieces and nephews of Poland. Janina dedicated her life to her family, friends and anyone in need. She supported many charities and not for profit organizations. À la fin, je jetais un regard derrière moi et je remarquais qu'à un endroit, sur le sentier de ma vie, le sable ne portait qu'une seule suite d'empreintes, les miennes. Lors de mon réveil, intriguée, je me suis mise à m'interroger, que s'est-il passé? Qui nous a séparés? Jusqu'au jour où une petite lumière est venue m'éclairer, me rappeler notre départ, faux espoir, au bout, je ne voyais que du noir. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi je ne réussis pas à faire surgir en moi, l'empreinte la plus mystérieuse de mon existence. Un jour, quelqu'un quelque part, ces personnes qui gardent le silence, se décideront à dénoncer les informations cachées sur la scène de notre accident et les personnes impliquées. Ce jour-là, tu et nous serons en paix. Tu es disparu à mes côtés, mais dans mon coeur et mes pensées tu vivras toujours. De ta soeur Chantal XX On t'aime, on t'aimait et nous t'aimerons toujours. Elle était la fille de feu André Blais et de feu Philomène Lacroix. Elle laisse dans le deuil Marcellin Clément, le père de ses enfants: Jacques (Barbara Pilipchuk), Michel (Linda Hotte), Paul (Donna King), Daniel (Louise Lajeunesse), Suzanne (Mohamed Abouziane) et Stéphane (Xhulieta Ismaili). Elle laisse également 12 petits-enfants et 10 arrière-petits-enfants. Elle fut prédécédée par tous ses frères et soeurs. Originaire de Bouchette et résidente de Hull, infirmière et mère au foyer, Valéda était une femme généreuse qui aimait la vie et les voyages. Elle laisse le souvenir d'une femme dévouée à sa famille, ses proches et les gens dans le besoin. Malgré sa maladie, elle fut toujours souriante et optimiste. Un remerciement très très spécial à tout le personnel du CHSLD Papineau pour les bons soins prodigués à notre mère pendant les six dernières années. CHISHOLM , Roderick Thomas October 8, 1925 - July 31, 2009 Rod was born in Calgary, the only child of Nancy and Dan Chisholm. He resided in Bowness from 1931 to 1954 where he spent a happy childhood playing hockey, swimming in Bowness Park, fishing in the Bow River and wandering in the surrounding hills. He joined the RCVNR in October of 1942 and was called to active duty in April of 1943. He was proud to have served in the Corvette Navy of the North Atlantic on the HMCS Napanee. Rod married Ruth Thorpe on August 7, 1948, they celebrated their sixtieth anniversary with family last year. Hockey was a great part of Rod's life. When he no longer played, he spent a great many years organizing, coaching and managing teams in Meadowlark Park and for the Buffalo Hockey Association. A founding member of Pinebrook Golf Club, Rod played for many years, achieving every golfer's dream, a hole in one. He greatly enjoyed the company of many friends from the club. Rod retired in 1982 after a thirty-five year employment with General Motors. Rod will be sadly missed by his wife Ruth; son Dan (Shannon) and their children, Jenny (Stuart) Leckie and Jim; daughter Janeen (Colin) Van Orman and their children, Thomas, Eliza (Nathan) Whitesides, Kate (Dana) Hedquist, Dan, Camilla and Sarah; daughter Liz (Jim) Goertz and their children, Amy and Jack; great-grandchildren, Sadie and Rory Leckie; as well as many old and loyal friends. LAWRENCE , James Edward "Ted" Ted, born October 5, 1924 in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, passed away comfortably July 14, 2009 in Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Rosemary, in 2001, and his daughter, Elizabeth MacNeil, in 2007. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his children Chris (Cindy) and Sara Tod (Kevin), his son-in-law Maurice, his grandchildren Crystal and Cody Lawrence, Erin and Alison Tod, and his close friend Margery. Ted trained as a navigator and bombardier in the RCAF for three years, then attended UBC, graduating as a civil engineer in 1949. During the summers of his UBC years, Ted made a number of valued lifelong friends while working as a geodetic surveyor in the Yukon. He had a highly successful career and enjoyed his work which took him to many interesting areas of the world, including India, Nepal and Papua New Guinea. In his retirement, Ted took pleasure in woodwork, golf, and walks on the seawall with family and friends. PETERS , Ruth Marion April 10, 1939 - July 30, 2009 Ruth Marion Peters, beloved wife of Brian Peters of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the age of 70 years. Ruth was born in North Battleford, SK. With her father on the railroad, Ruth lived in many places in BC, AB, and SK. She graduated from the General Hospital with a RN in 1961 and married Brian that same year. Né le 26 septembre 1933 à Rosaireville, il était le fils de feu John Arsenault et de feu Emma Brideau Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse de 56 ans, Léona (Gallant) Arsenault; ses dix enfants: Irene Hansen (Gary), Doris Maillet (John Learette), Jacqueline Arseneau (Daniel), Germaine (Louis Leger), Diane Partridge (Bernie), Thérèse Murray (Mark), Alice Buell (Bob) et Charline LeBlanc (Roger) tous de Moncton, Éveline Daigle de Shédiac, Yvon (Jackie Allain) de Québec; dix-huit petits-enfants et dix-huit arrière petits-enfants. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée au Salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church à Moncton (858-1900). Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Christ-Roi à Moncton le mercredi 12 août 2009 à 14h. L'inhumation se fera dans le cimetière N.-D.-du-Calvaire à Dieppe. Heures de visite le mardi de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et mercredi dès 13h jusqu'à l'heure du départ (13h45). Une contribution, en mémoire d'Adolphe, à la Fondation Hôpital Dr-Georges-L. Dumont serait appprécié par la famille.

PODMEROFF , Rose July 20, 1931 - August 5, 2009 It is with tremendous heartbreak that the love of our lives, our Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Rose Podmeroff (nee Berekoff) has lost her courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the age of 78 years in the loving arms of her youngest granddaughter, Nevada. She will be forever missed by her loving family, husband of fifty-three years, Bill; daughters Deborah (Wayne) Klippert, and Donna (Gordon) Ouellette; lights of her life, grandchildren Lindsay (Kerry), Jason, and Nevada (Chan); her forever faithful companions Shadow, Trinket, Shy and Nemo; and all her grand-animals. FERGUSON, Bridget (Retired Hudson's Bay Company Employee) Died suddenly on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Don. She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Darryl Lawrence (Lesley) of North Battleford, Sask., and Derek Wynn (Anne) of Ottawa, Ont.; four grandchildren; Lyndsey (Ana), Taryn (Michael), Jan-Leigh, and Josh-Wade; and two great-grandchildren, James and Michelle. Born in Woking, England, Bridget was a British war bride who came to Canada after marrying Don on August 18, 1945. She devoted her life to raising her children before starting a career in retail security with the Hudson's Bay Company, Saskatoon. In retirement, she and Don were avid travelers and devoted grandparents. BRUCE-LOCKHART, Dr. Paddy (PBL) - In loving memory of Dr. Paddy Bruce- Lockhart (PBL) - A Life Well Lived. Eternal Optimist, Gentleman and adoring Family Man who leaves us at the tender age of 91. Spent a childhood separated from his family battling tuberculosis, never acknowledging a handicap as a limitation. A member of the Scottish Fencing Team, he worked his way through medical school in Edinburgh. Spent time in India during WWll with the British Army and lived by his principles to treat all people in need, regardless of economic class, in a time where that concept made many uncomfortable . . . Eternally appreciative of those who took the time to help him, he actively sought out every opportunity to extend a similar kindness to others. He moved to Sudbury in 1953 as an OB/GYN where he lived out his life and medical career, spending the next 40 years delivering well over 10000 children including three generations in some families. Practiced medicine into his 80's, saved countless lives, treasured the importance of honesty, and with a soft fatherly voice always took the time to ensure his patients knew they weren't a number. As a champion for Northern Ontario, he made significant contributions to establishing accessibility for Health Care, a range of programs for the Arts, and post secondary Education. He committed endless hours to the betterment of Medicine in Canada, in a range of roles that included President of the Ontario Medical Association, Speaker of Council for the Canadian Medical Association and Chief of Obstetrics at the General Hospital. He was named Emeritus Professor by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Described by his peers as a man who always acted with Exceptional Quiet Competence. Paddy loved music, sailing, golf, fishing, and especially teaching. A life long learner, he liked nothing better than working with his children and grandchildren. A man of great compassion and patience, he also had the gift of contentment. He leaves behind a loving wife Eve, and the legacy of a proud and grateful family of six children and eight (soon to be nine) grandchildren.
