HUMPHREY, Queenie Peacefully at Hilltop Manor Merrickville on Sunday July 19, 2009 Queenie (Langridge) Humphrey in her 89th year. Beloved wife for 68 years of Leonard Humphrey. Loved mother of Tony (Julie) of Smiths Falls and Susan (Ken) Fry of Moncton N.B. Cherished grandmother of Sarah Ruttan, Amanda Sousa, and Emily Mae Fry. Great grandmother of Darcy, Shayne, Chloe, and Peyton. Predeceased by brothers Jim, Reggie and sister Stephanie White. Queenie proudly worked in munitions for the British Government during World War II, then immigrated to Canada in 1957. MacDONALD, Judge Edythe I. Her Honour Justice Edythe Irene MacDonald died peacefully on July 20th, 2009. Her distinguished career was brought to an end by a debilitating dementia in her last years. Edythe was born to Irene and Angus MacDonald in Winnipeg on March 22, 1931. She was a precocious child whose academic brilliance was established early. Edythe won the Governor General's Medal as the Top Student in Viscount Alexander High School in suburban Winnipeg and went on to win the Gold Medal in her Law Class at the University of Manitoba in 1957. On her admission to the Bar, Edythe joined the Department of Justice in Ottawa and began a remarkable career of over 20 years. She was responsible for drafting some of the most important federal legislation of the period; The Divorce Act, The Canadian Grains Act and those portions of the Canadian Constitution with regards to women's rights. Her Ottawa years were filled with friendship as well as professional achievement. She was a devoted volunteer at the Ottawa Little Theatre. Edythe did not aspire to be an actor; but relished in the whole process of putting a show on the boards, spending countless hours in backstage and front of house tasks. In 1982 her focus changed from writing the law to its administration with her appointment to the Court of Queens Bench of the Province of Ontario in the judicial district of Niagara South (Welland). From the date of her appointment to her sick leave she devoted herself to her duties on the bench traveling miles around the circuit of the judicial district. Edythe was also active in her professional community. She loved her beautiful home in Fonthill, sharing it generously with friends and family. Edythe was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, and a loving mistress to a succession of Sachas, her dogs. Her trials are over, her illness is passed. May this devoted daughter and distinguished jurist rest in peace. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Friday, July 24, 2009 at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street Fonthill. A funeral service to celebrate Edythe's life will be conducted by The Reverend Ronald Hubbard, Deacon at 11:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1557 Pelham Street, Fonthill. MANNION, Liam Closs October 18, 1985 - July 19, 2009 Our bright spirit left us in his 24th year, as a result of a tragic car accident. Survived by his grieving parents, Richard Mannion and Catherine Closs. Missing him are his beloved Chaya; his sisters Shannon, Vicki, Leslie, Cynthia (Michael Roney) and his brother and buddy Sean Mannion (Kirsten James). Beloved nephew of Sean Closs and Sheena Waterson, Eileen, Frances and Helen Mannion. Uncle to Liam and Emily Roney, Tristan, Ryan and Dylan Mannion. Cousin to Tara (Sophie and Abby) and Matthew (Stephanie) Closs. Liam had an inquiring mind, a passion for social justice and many many friends. In his short life he volunteered in Africa and Ottawa and was embarking on a master's program. He was generous, kind and compassionate and was about to hike the West Coast Trail in B.C. We loved him and will miss him greatly. POULIN, Stuart L., Ft. Lt., ret. WWII RCAF Flight Lieutenant (ret.), passed away Monday, July 20, 2009 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 58 years to Mary Poulin (nee Creber). SUTHERLAND, John After a brief illness, John passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by family, in his 83rd year, on Saturday, July 18, 2009. He shared a 60 year romance with wife, Ruth, and was loved by his children Anne, Greg (Jocelyn), Peter (Lillian) and Bruce, and by his seven treasures, grandchildren Bradley, Brett, Jennifer, Jocelyn, Travis, Katie and John. John was a soldier, sailor and engineer. He helped make some of the far reaches of the country accessible by the many roads and airstrips he helped to build. Well travelled and well read, a true gentleman, he treated all with respect, making friendships wherever he went in the many places around the world he and Ruth visited. According to John's wishes, cremation will be followed by an interment at Pinecrest Cemetery in his birthplace of Ottawa on Monday, July 27. At a time and place to be announced shortly, friends and family will be invited to gather in Toronto to remember Johnny and share their favourite stories. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the kindness and good wishes of friends and neighbours, and for the compassionate and exceptional care he was given by the Trillium Health Centre, the CCAC and Spectrum Health Care. She was the much loved Yiayia to Christina, Melina, Jennifer and Stephanie and great-grandmother or GiGi to Amanda, Abby, Michael and Sasha. Liz was a vibrant, dynamic and beautiful woman who loved to play bridge, golf and entertain. She was very involved in the Montreal Greek community where she lived for 50 years before moving to Florida. Her intelligence and wit will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. MALONEY, Kathleen Gregory (nee Moore) Passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on July 20, 2009 at the age of eighty-five. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Maloney. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy in her children; Eileen, John (Colleen Mooney), Mary (Ron Diano), Edward (Linda Geyer), Patricia (Les Lawton), Catherine and Maureen (Gary Whetung). She was most proud of her title "nanny" to her grandchildren, Kim (Steve), Brad (Tracie), Jessica, Michelle, Mallory, Allison, Matthew, Sean, Andrew, Darcie, Lucas, Avery, Patrick, Ryan and Owen. She was also known as "great-naneen" to her two beautiful great-grandchildren, Joey and Sarah. To Kay, her family was the most important part of her life. We will receive condolences on Thursday, July 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White at 220 Autoroute 20. WALES, Elizabeth Stowe July 13, 1914 - July 18, 2009 Elizabeth Stowe Wales died peacefully on July 18, 2009. She had just celebrated her ninety-fifth birthday with her family and close friends present. She has received excellent care from staff at the Griffith - McConnell Residence. Elizabeth was born in St. Andrews East (Saint-Andre-d'Argenteuil), Quebec, daughter of Charles and Mabel (Bishop) Wales. She was predeceased by two younger sisters Freda Wales and Jeannette Roback. She is survived by her sister Grace (David) Shugar; nephew David Roback (Kathleen Flanagan) and family; nieces Katherine Roback and family and Frances Roback (Steve White). DOXTATER , Kylie Ella Vivian April 22, 1991 - July 19, 2009 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kylie Doxtater, beloved daughter of Tom Doxtater and Carolyn Wolf and stepdaughter of Jennifer Doxtater, of Calgary passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the age of 18 years. Kylie was a free spirit whose energy and spark touched everyone she met. Kylie had a great passion for her many friends, gymnastics, music, poetry, reading and her family. She was born in Calgary and recently graduated from Bowness High School. GRECO , Giovanni May 12, 1932 - July 20, 2009 Giovanni Greco, beloved husband of Serafina of Calgary, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Giovanni immigrated into Canada in 1966 to make a better life for his young family. He was a great provider and had a generous and loving heart. Giovanni enjoyed several things, he loved wine making while encouraging his friends to drink with him and growing a vegetable garden that had the biggest tomatoes on the block. He was a man strong as an ox, especially during his fight for the last five years with lung cancer. Besides his loving wife Serafina, Giovanni is remembered by one son Tony; three daughters, Teresa, Maria and son-in-law Marco, Anna and sons-in-law Kelly and Blaine; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Giovanni, Taylor, David, Anthony, Marina, Nicholas, Dana, James and Christian; and by numerous family members and friends in Canada, USA, Italy and Switzerland. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Teresa, brother Guiseppe and daughter Franca. KERRISON , John (Jack) 1933 - 2009 After a long courageous battle with cancer, Jack (grandpa, papa) died at home on July 19, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife Faye as well as sons Johnny, Brad (Deb), daughters Cheryl, Shelley, Michelle (Wil), Mary Jane (Keith), eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by son Jeff. A very heartfelt thank you to Lethbridge palliative care and Fort Macleod home care along with many friends and relatives. Without everyone's support and kindness Jack's wishes would not have been made possible. At Jack's request a Funeral will not take place. Instead a celebration of life will be held at a later date. LANGEN , Quinlan Patric Baxter May 1, 2009 - July 18, 2009 Quinlan, our beloved son, passed away suddenly in our arms on Saturday, July 18. Born with a congenital heart defect, Quinlan underwent a demanding course of treatment following his birth, including open heart surgery. Throughout his recovery, he touched many lives with his bravery, perseverance, tenacity, inquisitiveness, patience and trust. As one of Quinlan's NICU nurses said, "There are babies, and then there is Quinlan". He loved being cuddled by his parents, having his eyebrows stroked by his grandparents, snuggling with his twin sister Clara and had already learned to hold in his soother for comfort when he was upset. Quinlan had recently joined his family at home, and was spending a happy Saturday with his Mom, Dad and twin sister when his condition unexpectedly overtook him. Quinlan brought us such joy. He will be missed, never forgotten and always loved. Quinlan is survived by his parents, Andrea and Dennis, his twin sister Clara, his grandparents Isabelle, Bruce and Louis, by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and by his great-grandmother Anne. Quinlan was recently predeceased by his devoted Granny, Marie. Andrea and Dennis have been overwhelmed by the love, generosity, kindness, compassion and support that has been offered to them and to Quinlan throughout his brief life. In particular, we would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Foothills Hospital (Units 42 and 51), the Women's Centre at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, the Stollery Children's Hospital (PICU and NICU) and the Alberta Children's Hospital (PICU, Unit 2 and Emergency). We would also like to thank the many family and friends that brought us food, took care of our home and generously offered their time and support. McCALLUM , Ronald Cameron 1927 - 2009 Mr. Ronald Cameron McCallum passed away suddenly at the Centennial Centre at Ponoka, Alberta on July 16, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Ron was born July 10, 1927 at Winnipeg, Manitoba. In his youth, he spent many summers at Laclu, Ontario where he met his sweetheart, Marjorie. They were married in 1949, moved west to Lethbridge and settled in Calgary, Alberta. It was here their children were born and they raised their family. Ron was a Chartered Accountant, and spent most of his career working for Petrofina Oil Co. Ltd. in Calgary. In 1976 he transferred to Montreal, where he worked until his retirement from Petro Canada in 1982. Ron and Marge then returned to Calgary where he "eased into retirement" working part-time, travelling and promoting political reform. Throughout his life Ron was actively involved in the community, serving as a volunteer with many organizations. Recreation time was spent curling in the winter, golfing in the summer and enjoying time with family and friends at Laclu and Sylvan Lake. Following his retirement, Ron and Marge enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Arizona, and their summers at their cabin at Sylvan Lake. In 1996, Ron and Marge made Sylvan Lake their permanent home, where they continued to gather with friends and family, thoroughly enjoying many happy times. He is survived by his three children Lynn (Ron) Odynski of Edmonton, Alberta; Lawrence (Miranda Cooper) of Edmonton, Alberta; Diane (Jim) Tomaselli of Golden, British Columbia; his grandchildren Kirsten, Kelsey and Veronica Odynski; Julianna and Nolan Tomaselli; and Trevor and Helena Cooper. Ron was predeceased by his wife Marjorie, his parents H. Isabella and John McCallum and his sisters Norma and Rieta McCallum. ROBSON , Nancy Grace Lewis April 28, 1925 - July 20, 2009 Mum passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side. Nancy was born in Ottawa and later moved to Calgary where she raised her growing family. Left to celebrate her life are her sisters, Mary and Martha, her brother Bill, and us, her children, Leigh (Phil) Hobbs, Bill, Noni (Colleen) Belland, Debbie (Rob) Siegel, Joan (Tom) Clark, Rennie Robson, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. We have many fond memories of Mum. She had a great love for skating and was a world class skating judge. Our family was brought up participating in activities at the Glencoe Club. Mum lived several years overseas and enjoyed travelling. She was an accomplished artist and at the age of sixty, she earned her Master of Fine Arts. Her paintings are proudly displayed in our homes. Her love of family was passed down to us and defines who we are today. A special thank you to Mayen for her compassionate care and to the caring staff of the Beverly Centre. We will miss you Mum. The seismic industry took them and their family many places throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan until settling in Calgary where Marg worked at Field Aviation and later Chevron Canada. She also volunteered with the Heart to Heart Support Society. SLAA , Adriaantje (nee Vogelenzang de Jong) Adriaantje Slaa passed away at Cedars Villa nursing home on July 19, 2009 at the age of 96 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Johanna (Henry) Heuver of Calgary, Jenny (Bob) Howse of Calgary, Peter Slaa of Calgary and Robert (Annetta) Slaa of the Netherlands, grandchildren Jeannie, Debbie, George, Cindy, Kathy, Jennifer, Peter James, Michael, Zera and Arie, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arie Slaa on June 13, 1984, two brothers and five sisters. Adriaantje and Arie immigrated to Canada with family from Holland in 1948. She was a devoted wife and mother and was not afraid of hard work. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and support which she gave to her family and friends. .MCNAUEAL, Shawn Gregory - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Shawn on July 15, 2009, born on October 31, 1968 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Predeceased by his father Kenneth George McNaueal. Survived by his wife Pamela, his daughter Kayla, his mother Dawn Rumble, his sister Shannon Hoooper McNaueal and her son Matthew. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, including his many cousins, aunts and uncles. Shawn was well known for his motocross and jet ski racing, boating and love for the water. Shawn was a gifted mechanic who worked along side his father and grandfather at McNaueal's Kawasaki and Elmer's Small Engines. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Kirkland Lake on Saturday July 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow at Holy Name of Jesus Parish Hall.

MUDRICK, Margaret -It is with great sadness that we inform you that Margaret Mudrick passed away on Monday July 20, 2009 at the age of 84. Beloved life partner to Norm, mom to Don, Jim (Nicole), Lori (Tyrone), Vicki and, Val (Vern),grandma to Kim, Lisa, Tegan, Mitchel, Keely, Gillian, Marshal and Diamond, great-grandma to Mikayla, Victoria, Niles, Ashton and Jemma, and friend to many. Mag loved her life with periods in Cobalt, Kirkland lake, Ottawa,Toronto, Sudbury, Englehart, Bracebridge and Haileybury. She enjoyed her careers in the Navy, Banking and Real Estate; travelling and the arts; canoeing and cottage life; and volunteering for almost any cause; but most of all she loved sharing time with her friends and family. Marg encountered sadness in her life with the loss of her parents Archie & Ethel (Reid) Runch, her first husband Glenn Nelles, her son Donald, and her grand-daughter Keely Jade, but somehow she seemed to shine with happiness and make everyone that spent time with her, seem special. She was a pillar of support and fountain of encouragement and generosity. She will be missed more than words can say. Marg did not want a funeral. An open house in celebration of her life will be held at 223 Little Street, Hailebury onThursday July 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so wish, in lieu of flowers,donations may be made to the Kirkland Lake and District Hospital where she received outstanding care and compassion.

TAYLOR, Shirley Maude (Herron) - Passed away July 19, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener in her 94th year. Born in New Liskeard, December 18, 1915, she attended public and highschool there and in 1937, graduated from Ontario Agricultural College(Guelph) in Home Economics. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Bill Taylor, and they resided in Kirkland Lake. During the war, she and daughter Bonnie moved back to New Liskeard to live with her parents, Maude and Frank Herron, while Bill was with the RCAF overseas. After the war, they moved to Swastika where they raised their four children, Bonnie, Betty, Stephen and David. In 1972, they returned to New Liskeard to retire and care for Shirley's aging parents. Shirley joined the Hospital Auxiliary in 1975 and spent her remaining active years volunteering in the Gift Shop and making flower arrangements for the hospital. She became a Life Member of the Auxiliary as well as having the privilege of an Ontario Life Membership. Shirley loved her garden and spent wonderful years cultivating beauty. June, 2006, at the age of 90, Shirley moved from her beloved north country to Bankside Terrace Retirement Home in Kitchener, close to her daughters. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her dear son David, her parents, brother Lloyd and sister Audrey. Left to mourn her wonderful life are her children, Bonnie (Vince), Betty (Peter), Stephen (Aileen) anddaughter-in-law, Lynda as well as 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Interment will be in the family plot in Pioneer Cemetery, New Liskeard. In Shirley<9>s memory, donations to Temiskaming Hospital Auxiliary or charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged.

Dorothy Fewster ( nee Behnke) of Kitchener and formerly of Petawawa, beloved wife of Joseph Fewster. Cherished mother of Rick Fewster (Kate), Kitchener, David Fewster (Marilyn), Baden ON and Jo-Anne Bankmann (Gary), Kitchener. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her loving grandchildren, Khara, Kristopher, Bradley, Brent, Dennis, Ryan and Christopher. BOUTIN, Sharon E. - Peacefully, at her residence with family at her side, on July 20, 2009 in her 63rd year. Beloved wife of Gilles and living mother of Susan Boutin of Ridgeway, Albert Boutin (Diane Brookson) of Guelph and Adrien Boutin of Toronto. Dear sister of Margaret Turner of St. Catharines and niece of Chuck James of Welland. Predeceased by her parents Albert and Frances Deane and brother-in- law Greg Turner. Sharon was a lifelong member of Cooks Mills United Church where she was a member of the UCW. She worked for 20 years as a RPN at the Welland Hospital's OBS and later worked for Para-Med for 14 years as a health nurse. Sharon played baseball for the Welland Recreation Slo-pitch League for many years and she loved bowling, quilting, gardening, visits to the casino and especially travelling with her husband. Friends are invited to visit the family at the COOKS MILLS UNITED CHURCH, 18 Guest Road, Welland on Friday, July 24th from 6 - 9 pm.
