THWAITES , Mary "Louise" December 11, 1925 - June 12, 2009 Louise Thwaites of Calgary passed away on June 12, 2009 at the age of 83 years. She is lovingly remembered by her son Allan Green (Linda); daughters Lorraine Lambert (Dave) and Sharon Adams; grandchildren, Andrew and Geoffrey Adams, Matthew and Mallory Green; great-granddaughter Mikayla; sister Leone Foreman; and many nieces and nephews. Louise was predeceased by her loving husband Phil Thwaites in 2000. WEMP , Helen Kathleen (Armstrong) March 12, 1918 - June 13, 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce Helen has passed after a brief illness. Helen is missed by her children; Ann Johnson (Wayne), Alan Wemp (Patricia), Kathleen Berg (Lorne) and Vicki Wemp (Bob); nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and four and a half great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Marion and many nephews and nieces. Helen was predeceased by husband, Gordon; sisters Annie and Alice (in infancy); brothers George and Edwin. Helen touched many people throughout her long life and left a lasting impression on us all. When not busy with her ever growing family, Helen volunteered countless hours with the Thorncliffe Community Association, Girl Guides, Brownies, Scouts, the CNIB and more. She loved her Wednesday Stitch and Bitch gatherings. Helen's friends and family will continue to live life influenced by her wisdom and her humour. Matchett The death of Sadie Ann (Sally) Matchett of Whitney, NB and formerly of Sillikers, NB, occurred peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the age of 70. Born in Halcomb, NB, Sally was the daughter of the late Howard and Hattie Harris. Sally is survived by two sons: Robert Matchett (Faye) of Fort McMurray, AB and Vaughan Harris of Whitney, NB; one sister: Edith Carey of Bathurst, NB; three brothers: Cyril, Blake and Fred Hare; two grandchildren: Zachary and Brittany Harris both of South Esk, NB. Predeceased by one sister: Jenny and four brothers: Willis, Keith, Elliott and Allan Harris. Visitation was held at Meadows Funeral Home on Thursday evening only from 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held from the Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, Sunny Corner, NB on Friday, June 12, 2009 @ 2 PM with Rev. Tom Ettinger officiating. Dorothy Clark Dorothy Clark of Perth-Andover passed away at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital on June 3, 2009. Born in Caldwell Brook, NB, on January 14, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Edith (Thomas) Barr. Dorothy leaves behind her children Donald Clark (Bonnie) of Woodstock, Mary Sheppard (Wallace) of car Manville, NL, Katherine Gillespie of Perth-Andover; her brother Hubert Barr (Joyce) of Ottawa; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alex Clark; son-in-law Norman Gillespie; brother Denziloe Barr; sister Iona LaForest; and granddaughter Darlene Hargraves. Dorothy worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Keenagers, the Anglican Church Women's Group, the Sapphire Rebekah Lodge in Saint John, and was an organist in various church for over 50 years. Funeral service was held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 10 am from Trinity Anglican Church in Perth-Andover. Rev. Bonnie LeBlanc officiated, assisted by Lay reader Cecil Pirie. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Music for the service was by organist Carol Andersen and the church choir. Dorothy's son, Donald, played the bagpipes at the service. The eulogy was given by Sharron Moffatt. Pallbearers were Clark Gillespie, Steven Hamblin, Kenneth Clark, Wallace Sheppard, John Clark, and Bernard Parent. Tragically Jean died two days after the death of her son Kenneth Richard Cardiff at Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital. Jean, a lifetime resident of Brantford was a well known and respected member of the city's nursing community for many years prior to her retirement in 1987. SMIDS, Fred - We would like to announce that Fred Smids has gone home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on June 14, 2009 at 10:51 am. He was born in Surhuisterveen, The Netherlands on October 12, 1929. With most of his family he immigrated to Canada in July 1948. A year later, Fred met Johanna Verburg. They have been married nearly 57 years. Fred owned and operated his own business, Smids Service, for many years until he retired in 1987. In retirement he was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church, the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store and many other organizations. Fred is much loved by many people and will be greatly missed by his wife, Johanna, children and spouses: Nellie and husband Peter Green, Martha and husband Ron Crow, John and wife Laurie Smids, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Predeceased by his parents and oldest brother and a sister. MALONEY, Jack William - C.L.U., of Marblehead, MA, USA, died at home on June 7th, 2009. He was 94 years old. Born May 5th, 1915, to Emma (White) and Joseph Maloney of Welland, Ontario, Jack worked at Atlas Steel in Welland and studied for a degree in metallurgy before volunteering for service in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, serving on the HMCS Port Colburne. After the war, Jack earned his CLU and began a career in life insurance. He worked as branch manager of Sun Life in Brantford Ontario, as well as president of the Brantford Chamber of Commerce and Life Underwriters Association before moving to Marblehead, MA USA in 1964. Jack is survived by his wife Helen Elizabeth (Green) Maloney, two sons, Robert and his long-time friend LuAnn Darrell, and Patrick and his wife Erin all of Marblehead. He is also survived by seven grandchildren including Patrick Hill Jr., and Nicole Hill of Canada, one great-grandchild, a sister, Harriet Takacs of Welland Ontario, and many nieces and nephews. Jack is predeceased by his daughter Sharon (Maloney) Hill and ten brothers and sisters. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on July 18th, 2009 at Star of the Sea Church, Atlantic Ave., Marblehead.
