Jamieson, Jean Margaret (nee Parker) February 7, 1929-March 16, 2009 Jean Jamieson passed away peacefully at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Monday, March 16th, 2009 at the age of 80 with her loving family by her side. Jean was admired by all who knew her as a caring, warm-hearted, easygoing person and one who appreciated the joys and happiness of friends and family. Jean is the dearly beloved wife of the late Lloyd Jamieson; sister of Earl, Bill and pre-deceased sisters Vera and Helen; cherished mother of eight children, Carol (Louis), Doug (Charlotte), Don (Judy) Gary, David (Connie), Joanne (Randy), Kevin (Sue) and Jody; and proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, Patrick, Natalie, Ross, Shannon, Lindsay, Matthew, Shawn, Andrea, and Ainsley. She leaves as well four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Corey, Dawson and Emily. Despite our great sadness, we are relieved to know she is at peace. She will forever be in our hearts, thoughts and memories. At the request of the family, the service will be private. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff members of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Intensive Care Unit who provided exceptional care. BARTLEY, James (Jim) Henry June 20, 1940 - March 14, 2009 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim on March 14, 2009, with his wife Eileen and goddaughter Terri by his side. He was proud of his forty years with Monarch, Revelstoke and West Fraser. He won manager of the year seven of nine years. His greater joy in life was spending time with the children of numerous friends. He always had something in his pocket for them. A young friend said, "I look to the sky and know that he is there, looking over you, and the rest of us who were a part of his life". He will be sadly missed by his wife Eileen; his brother Don (Marilyn) and family; and sister-in-law, Joan and family. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Marilyn and his brother Ken. BURKHOLDER, Marcella - passed away on March 12, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Marcella was born into a family of eleven siblings in Wahstao, AB, and spent her youth in northern Alberta until moving to Ontario as a young adult. She returned to Alberta in 1954 and finally to Sundre in 1958 where she remained until her death. Marcella was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a loyal friend to many throughout the years. Marcella enjoyed her family tremendously and always looked forward to being with family and friends whenever possible. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Anabelle Bayona and Cynthia Navalta for their wonderful care for our mother over the last years, as well as all the staff at the Sundre Hospital, all of whom worked so diligently to make her final days comfortable. Marcella is survived by two daughters, Marcie Giroux and Donna (Rick) Jones, both of Sundre, AB; one son, Bill Golden of Edmonton, AB; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie Worbets and Moreah McCready. A Celebration of Marcella's Life will be held on March 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Sundre (135 - 6 Street S.E.) SIMPSON, Robert Joseph - February 14, 1932 - March 14, 2009 It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert Joseph Simpson announces his passing on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Born Glasgow, Scotland; immigrated to Calgary in 1967. Helen loved and encouraged her family and friends through all of her life. SHIGWADJA, Marianne (Cywink)(nee Trudeau) - In loving memory of Marianne Shigwadja (Cywink)(nee Trudeau), 74 years, who passed away at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto on Monday, March 16th, 2009. Beloved wife of Michael Shigwadja (predeceased). Loving mother of Marilyn Cywink (Seymoure), Richard Allan Cywink, Deborah Anne Gayle (Cywink) Graham and Shirley Ellen Cywink. Cherished grandmother of Christopher and Jason Seymoure, Malcolm and Creighton Graham, Nicolas, Aaron and Robin Cywink. Dear sister of Maryjane Gilbert, Joseph Trudeau (wife Shirley) and Rosina Edwards. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. An outgoing and generous person, Marianne liked to be useful, keep busy and be there for anyone in need. Some of her favourite pastimes were playing cards, bingo, euchre, cross words, working on puzzles, horse racing, cats, knitting, reading mystery books and magazines such as “Who done it?“ and participating in rummage sales. She was Past President of the Senior's Club in the Wigwamen Terrace. Enjoying a fine meal at the CN Tower, Mandarin or Thailand Restaurants also brought much joy to her life. Born September 29, 1920 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Annie was the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie Van Wees from Breda, The Netherlands. Dear sister of the late Eugenie, Mia, Piet and Thom. Beloved wife of Hubert (Huub) for 58 years. Adored mother of Hubert Jr. (Huby) and his wife Franca. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in- law Josephine de Kever of The Netherlands and her sister-in-law Ronny Van Wees of Australia. DEVOLIN, Hilda Mary - At Caressant Care Nursing Home, Marmora, on Friday, March 13, 2009. Hilda (Holmes) Devolin, of Madoc, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife for over 70 years of the late George Edgar Devolin. Mother of Donna (Peter) Lloyd, Greensboro, GA; Douglas (June), Haliburton; and Darrel (friend Betty), Bobcaygeon. Predeceased by all sisters and brother and all in-laws except Lindsay Empey. Hilda was the eldest child of Fred and Mary Ann (Molly) Holmes of Remington, and sister of Vera (Wannamaker), Verna (Empey), Lynn, Hattie (Bronson), Geneva (Armstrong), June (Bronson) and Phyllis (Quesnell). Alvina Mercier 1919-2009 Le jeudi 19 mars 2009, à l'âge de 89 ans, est décédée Alvina Mercier, épouse de feu Georges Mercier, domiciliée à Shediac Bridge. Né le 26 mars 1919, elle était la fille de feu Melas DeVarennes et Rose Melanson. Elle laisse dans le deuil une fille, Gisèle Mercier de Moncton; trois petits-enfants: Rachelle Melanson (Raymond), Danielle Després (Randy Leet) et Monique Cormier (Jason); deux arrière-petits-enfants: Brittney Charters et Mikaila Cormier; ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Outre son époux, elle est précédée dans la tombe par une fille, Louise Després (Ron); ses frères et soeurs. Elle était la dernière survivante de sa famille immédiate. La dépouille mortelle ne sera pas exposée. Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Christ-Roi, Moncton, le lundi 23 mars à 10h30. L'inhumation se fera dans le cimeitère N-D-du-Calvaire à Dieppe. Russell Cormier 1933-2009 'A l'Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L-Dumont de Moncton, le jeudi 19 mars 2009, à l'âge de 75 ans, est décédé Russell Cormier, domicilié à Shédiac. Né le 29 décembre 1933 à Bas Cap-Pelé, il était fils de feu Clément Cormier et de feu Lina Jaillet. M Cormier était un camioneur pour Shediac Lobster Shop avant sa retraite. Il laisse dans le deuil sa famille qui l'aimait, sa fille Mary-Ann Bourque (Rodrigue) de Shédiac, ses trois fils: Robert (Susan), Donald (Anna) de Shédiac, et Guy (Peggy) de Salisbury; trois soeurs: Dorothy Code (Tom) de West Dover, N-É, Clémence Cormier de Shédiac, Fernande Sinnott (Dave) de Floride; quinze petits-enfants: Joleen, Naythan, Sophie, Chelsie, Christopher, Rodrick, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Albert, Mélanie, Monica, Donald, Jérémie, Melissa et Étienne; ainsi que par plusieurs neveux, nièces et amis. Son épouse Juliette (Gallant) Cormier (1999), sa fille Nancy Richard (2005), un arrière-petit-fils Sébastien (2008), ainsi qu'un frère Robert (2005) l'ont précédé dans la tombe. BEAUDETTE, Irene Jane nee Nash - Passed away quietly at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, March 13th, 2009 after a short illness at the age of 88. Irene, a native of London England, was married to Andre Beaudette in January 1944 and emigrated to Canada with her first son Andre Jr. in April 1946 to be reunited with her husband after his demobilization from the Canadian Army. In 1949, Irene and Andre along with Andre Jr. and daughter Linda settled in Brantford Ontario where she continued to reside until her death. During the 1950s, Irene gave birth to two additional sons, Alan and Blaine. Irene was widowed in July 1989. Her passing is mourned by her four children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Irene's quick humour, concern for others and generosity will be missed by all those who knew her. The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS' FUNERAL HOME“, 96 West Street, Brantford on Saturday March 21st from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery. LAWS, Mary Ellen - Peacefully, with her family by her side at the Hamilton General Hospital on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald Laws (2008). Loving mother of Wayne Laws, Debbie (Rick) Smeets, Garry (Rachel) Laws and Greg Laws. Mary Ellen is lovingly remembered by her thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Doris (Ken) Capell, Dorothy (Spike) Groh, Doug (Jo-Anne) Wood, Sharon (Don) Marshall and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen worked for Hunter Road Greenhouse until her early seventies. For several years Mary Ellen was a member of the Grantham Optimist Club. During her recent stay in the hospital she was recognized as Mrs. Christmas from the Rio Lane Christmas Lighting. Bregitte was born September 27, 1919 in Egmont Bay, P.E.I. to her late parents Glorice and Baselice Gallant. Beloved wife of the late Clarence Hashie and loving mother of Albert (Zelma), Edward (Norma), Adeline (David) Gallant, Simon (Nancy), Alma (Keith) Sigsworth, Linda (Don) Gallant, Melina Hashie, Maynard (Vicky) and daughter-in-law Marlene Hashie. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by her brother Norman and sisters Madeleine, Irene, Rita and Therese; sister-in-law Laurette Gallant. Mrs. Violet M. Inglis June 19, 1922 - March 13, 2009 86, of Halifax, died on March 13, 2009, at home. She was born in Portsmouth, England and traveled to Pier 21 in Halifax as a war bride aboard the Lusitania, landing on Valentine's Day in 1945. Violet was a Dressmaker at Court Gowns (Clothiers to the Queen) in London prior to driving an ambulance during the Second World War, where she met her husband William Palmer Inglis, a Canadian Fire Fighter volunteering in England, who predeceased her. Surviving her are her children Barry (Frances), Gerry (Helena), Paul (Witha), Pamela (David Misiner), Christine (John Bawden), Sandra, and Brian (Darlene); 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela (Trevor Cornish) in England; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son, Eric; sister, Iris (Bernard Frail); and brothers in England, Cyril, Reuben and George. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, in the Chapel of Atlantic Funeral Home with Father Duncan MacMaster officiating. Mom passed away peacefully at approximately 11:30 p.m., surrounded by a number of her family and friends. Mom was born June 15th, 1952 at the Holy Family Hospital to Alice (nee Ek) and Karl Walter Viklund. Mom grew up in Buffalo Narrows, SK and attended High School in Prince Albert, SK. Mom met her loving husband Harold Joseph Henry in Prince Albert, where they soon married in 1971. Mom and dad continued to reside in Prince Albert for several years where they raised three sons, Keith, Kevin, and Kerry. Mom is survived by her loving husband Harold Joseph Henry of Buffalo Narrows, SK; her three sons - Kerry Henry of Saskatoon, SK, Kevin (Sharon) Henry of Saskatoon, SK and Keith (Kimberley) Henry of Vancouver, BC; her brother David (Theresa) Viklund of Deer Ridge, SK, and her mother Alice Betty Viklund of Canwood, SK; her six grandchildren Sarah, Drake, Ciaran, Dayne, Matthew, and Addisen, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to name. Mom was a very entrepreneurial spirit. Her life was symbolized by her ability to take on various challenges with enthusiasm and drive. This spirit included careers as a social worker, police officer, small business owner and artist.
