STARLIGHT, Lisa Marie Ninagha dichiji ts'ika (Brown Bear Woman) September 21, 1976 - March 5, 2009 Lisa was born in Calgary. She attended and graduated grade 12 from Lord Beaverbrook High School in Calgary. Lisa was always active with her community and accomplished much in her life. In 1992, Lisa was the Calgary Native Friendship Centre Princess. In 1994, she became the First Aboriginal Peer Youth Representative for the Western Region of Canada. In 1996, Lisa became the Calgary Stampede Indian Village Princess, a title which she wore proudly. She went on to further her education and in 2000, Lisa graduated from Centre of Indigenous Theatre. Two years later, she became a graduate from Canadian Broadcasting. Lisa was a gifted jingle dress dancer and traveled the world as a performer. She participated in making over two hundred and fifty tee-pees including the well known forty foot tee-pee that is displayed at the Indian Village during the Calgary Stampede. Lisa will always be fondly remembered for her ability to brighten anyone's day with her humour and beautiful smile. O'REILLY, Mary Theresa (Mae) (Muldoon) - Peacefully, in her 90th year and embraced by her loving family, our mother passed away on March 6, 2009. She was born on May 20, 1919 in Beachgrove, Quebec and married our Dad, Bob O'Reilly, in Quyon, in 1945. She was tremendously proud of her Irish heritage and was happiest surrounded by her family and friends; especially if it involved music or a rousing game of euchre. Mom was a devout Roman Catholic, a woman of unwavering faith and a longtime and dedicated member of St. Clement's Parish and C.W.L. She loved the West End, where she raised her family and welcomed so many into her home. Countless stories were shared over meals and pots of tea at mom's kitchen table. Mom's inner strength, zest for life, intense faith and wonderful sense of humour sustained her through her life's challenges. She resided at Meadowbrook Retirement Village in Lively where the incredibly caring staff, and her newfound friends truly helped enrich the last year and a half of Mom's life. Beloved wife of Robert G. O'Reilly, who passed away in 1966. She is the cherished mother of Robert (wife Roberta), Mary Patricia (Pat) Cunningham (husband Jim), Dan (wife Claudette), Michael (wife BettyAnn), Maureen Benham (husband Brian) and Glynn (wife Shirley). Adored grandmother of Neal, Erin, Jodi (Michael), Sara (John), Laura, Meghan, Daniel, Kaylan, Ian, Michael, Colleen, Hannah and Molly. Doting great-grandmother of Ryan, Bradford and Ali. She is also predeceased by her parents, Michael and Annie Muldoon (Cooney), sisters Gladys and Lorena Muldoon, Monica Murdock and brothers Francis, Albert and James. MALONEY, Gerard Michael (Gerry) - Passed away on March 6, 2009 age 67 years. Gerry Maloney was Irish in every way: humble, sharp, intelligent, witty, tough as nails and generous beyond belief. Born in Barrie, Ontario on February 16, 1942, he was the seventh of nine children born to James and Sarah (Monroe) Maloney, immigrants who had moved to Canada from County Westmeath, Ireland. He grew up in Barrie in a pretty house on Penetang Street, part of a large, close-knit family that blessed him with a trove of great memories and a lifetime of hilarious stories. He attended the University of Toronto in the early 1960's, when such academic ambitions were usually reserved for the privileged few, and graduated with a degree in history. He eventually followed his older siblings into the bar business, but could have just as easily stayed in academia, blessed as he was with an incredible memory for dates, names and historical facts. A true original, he could quote Shakespeare with ease or swear like he invented it, and be just as comfortable in a barroom dust-up as he was dissecting the Russian Revolution with an academic. In Toronto, he would meet and marry Nora Kennedy, an Irish immigrant for County Tipperary described often by Gerry as the best thing that ever happened to him. They started their family late but caught up fast, having three boys, Christopher, Patrick and Brendan, between 1977 and 1981. In June 1982, he bought the Norfolk Inn in Simcoe, moving his family from Toronto and turning the struggling bar into a thriving success he operated until his death. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers John, Jimmy and Bill Maloney. He is survived by brothers Dan Maloney, Conrad (Linda) Maloney, Colum (Kay) Maloney, sisters Brigid (Bill) Priestner and Pat (Gerry) McEvoy, sisters-in-law Lisa Maloney and Marian Maloney and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife, his three boys, daughter-in-law Jill Maloney and grandson Evan Maloney. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, March 9, 2009 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe, parish prayers will be said at 8 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from ST. KURYLYSZYN, Wasyl (1923-2009) - At home, on March 4, 2009, at the age of 85, after a life well lived. SMITH, David Warren July 24, 1927 - March 6, 2009 Dave was born on July 24, 1927 in New York City, and passed away March 6, 2009 in Calgary. A bright and precocious youngster, Dave enjoyed a worldly upbringing. A United States Navy Veteran with a BA degree from Harvard University, Dave arrived in Edmonton in 1949. He launched his oil patch career in the land department at Canadian Superior. He went on to co-found and ultimately become sole proprietor of Field Title Service, which became a fixture in the Canadian exploration business. Honest and industrious, he was respected and warmly regarded by employees and clients alike. Dave was popularly viewed as having a powerful mind. He harnessed this intellect with a direct manner and an exceptionally dry wit. Driven by health issues and a head injury, Dave sold his business interests and retired in 1980. He lived in retirement with his companion Merna Latimer (deceased) and was a resident of Southwood Care Centre for the past six years. Dave is survived and fondly remembered by his three children, Michael Smith (Jeryl) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Geoffrey Smith (Alexandra) of Rancho Mirage, California and Jessica Abt (Edward) of Calgary. Grandpa Dave is also lovingly remembered by his ten grandchildren Becky, Brian, David, Jennifer, Tanya, Natasha, Jason, Christopher, Nicole and Sarah; his younger brother Jay and an extended Smith family. Dave was predeceased by his daughter Tracy; his brother Ben; and Carole, his wife of twenty two years. Ernest hugh MacLean, husband of Helen MacLean, of Route 117, Black River Bridge, passed away peacefully, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the age of 87. Born in Black River Bridge, on August 15, 1921, he was the son of the late Frank and Marion (Cameron) MacLean. During the Second World War, Ernie joined the Air Force and served as an airframe mechanic. He worked for many years as a carpenter for Byron MacDonald Ltd., where he designed and built complex and safe staging for storage tanks and bridges. In retirement, his passions were woodworking and genealogy. He was an active member of St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge, where he was a life member of the Session; a former member of the men's quartet; a long serving member of the church choir. In addition, he was a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian legion; the Black River Senior Citizens Club; the Miramichi Chapter of the Highland Society; the Miramichi Genealogy Society. Ernie was happiest when he was in the midst of a gathering of family and friends. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen MacNaughton; three daughters, Robert and her husband Tom Clark, of Saint John, Susan and her husband Brian Saunders, of Fredericton, Dawn and her husband Fred Webber, of Fredericton; two sons, Ralph MacLean, of Saint John and Archie MacLean and his wife, Judy, of Fredericton; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, nathan, Shannon, Ben, Aaron, Alyssa, Tom, Blair, Daniel; two sisters, Jenny MacLean (Harold), of Black River Bridge and Frances Adams, of Niagara Falls, Ont.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one infant daughter, Betsy and one sister, Catherine Newton. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Thursday. members of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, held a service at the funeral home on Thursday evening, under the direction of Raymond MacDonald. The funeral service was held from St. Stephen's United Church, Black River Bridge, on Friday, March 6, 2009, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. The music was supplied by Mr. Ken Simpson and the hymns were "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go" and "All the Way My Saviour Leads Me." A special musical selection, "An Evening Prayer", was offered by Norma Crawford and the eulogy was composed by the family and read by Brian Saunders. The honorary pallbearers were Mary Edge, Lockie MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald, James MacKenzie, Lloyd Mills, Jim Simmie. The active pallbearers were Peter Leger, Alexander Newton, Donald Newton, Jim Porter, Gordon Russell, Fred Webber. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring. GRIGG, William Edward - age 86 of Petrolia, passed away Friday March 6, 2009 at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, Sarnia. William resided most of his life on the 8th Line of Moore Township. NYCHECK, Adeline 2009-03-09 Mrs. Adeline Nycheck, age 91 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, died in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on, March 5, 2009. Adeline was born and raised in Angusville Manitoba. She moved to Fort William in 1943 and was married to Steve Nycheck in 1947. She had resided here since. Adeline was a longtime member of the Church of Holy Cross, St. Anne‘s Society, the UCWL and the Holy Cross Seniors Club. Adeline is survived by her daughters Marlene (Hidge) Murdock of Ottawa and Iris (Alan) Ramsdale of Vancouver; son Morris (Jan) Nycheck of Winnipeg; six grandchildren; Tracie, Christie, Ryan and Nathan Ramsdale, Lindsay Hutchings and Kale Murdock,. Numerous nieces, nephews as well as other relatives also survive. Adeline was predeceased by her parents and husband Steve, brothers Frank, Bert and Edward Siwak, sisters Rosie Walko, Carrie Sabatski and Stella Woloch. BOUTHILLIER (née Tessier), Isabelle Est décédée le jeudi 5 mars 2009, à l'âge de 81 ans. Elle était la fille de feu Eugène Tessier et de feu Hélène Savoie. Elle était l'épouse bien-aimée de feu Bernard Bouthillier. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs Suzanne Tessier et Micheline Breton, plusieurs neveux et nièces ainsi que sa belle-soeur Jeannine Tessier. Elle laisse également plusieurs membres de la famille Parent, qui était sa deuxième famille ainsi que nombreux ami(e)s. Elle fut prédécédée par ses soeurs Gilberte et Claire et par ses frères Louis-Philippe et Paul. Un grand merci au Dr L. Coulombe, ainsi qu'à son équipe pour les excellents soins prodigués. Il n'y aura pas de visites au salon. Un service commémoratif sera célébré le mardi 10 mars 2009 en la chapelle de la Maison Funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier 180, ch. CRAIG, Jane 2009-03-09 Mrs. Jane Victoria Craig, age 88 years, loving wife and mother, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday March 7, 2009 at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Jane was born on June 13, 1920, in Pearson Township to parents Elinor Jane and Herman Murray Bell. Her husband, home and family were her greatest source of fulfillment. She was an accomplished baker and card player, filling her family‘s bellies with scrumptious apple pie and teaching her grandchildren all she knew about solitaire and Rummy 500. Saturday nights found her glued to the television set watching Hockey Night in Canada and rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jane enjoyed visits from her family and friends and always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Jane is survived by her children Norine (Ron) Godwin, Clara Lamke, Shirley Halme, Winston (Barb) Rahmer, Bea (Orla) Larsen, Floyd (Helen) Rahmer, June Pitt, Judy Lem, and Cindy (Jim) Karasiewicz, Gerald (Connie) Craig, and Darlene (Jerry) Lagimodiere. Also surviving are her sisters Winnie Hanbby and Jean Blake; step-daughter Irene Jensen; and daughters-in-law Myrtle (John) and Margo (Larry) Rahmer, sisters-in-law Ann Bell, Gertie and June Craig, approximately 45 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life Gordon Thomas Craig; sons Brian, John and Larry Rahmer and daughter Marie; sons-in-law Ed Merritt, George (Chum) Lamke, Fred Pretulac and Fred Thompson and several grandchildren; father Herman Bell and mother Elinor Gillies; stepfather Alex Gillies; brothers Aubrey Bell, Gordon Bell, and Raymond Bell, sisters Ruby Bell, Marion Bell, and Norine Rahmer; first husband John Rahmer. KELLOUGH, Helen 2009-03-09 Mrs. Helen Kellough passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday March 8th, 2009, at Roseview Manor. Helen was born in Fort William, Ontario on October 11, 1921. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, loving her family unconditionally. Together with her husband Bub, Helen enjoyed holding elegant dinner parties in their home, as well as hosting a ladies Bible study for many years. Avid golfers, Helen and Bub played golf locally and in Florida where they spent a number of winter months. She was a life long member of Westfort Baptist Church. Helen is survived by daughters, Laura, Alison (Gordon) Robinson, and Elizabeth (Wade) Wilson, grandchildren Kelly (Steve) Margolese, Kori Hubbard, Kristie (Kevin) Margarit, Grant (Sumi) Robinson, Becky (Kevin) Kriese, Amy (Barry) Kriese, Jesse (Shannon) Jones and Joel Jones, as well as 15 great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by husband Bub Kellough, parents Robert and Mary Irene Carson, sister Irene, brothers Harold, Gordon, Howard, and son-in-law Jim Geravelis.
