DYNES, Errol - In loving memory Wilfred “Errol” Dynes, who passed away peacefully with family at his side at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood on February 26th, 2009 in his 77th year. Loving husband (54 years) and friend of Joan (nee Hamilton). Dear father of Janice (Phil) of Collingwood, Marianne (Ian) of Beggs, Oklahoma, and David (Frances) of Sudbury. Cherished Poppa and Grandpa, will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Stuart, Taylor and Charlotte Hammill, Emily, Kyle and Kevin Horncastle, Alessandra, Noelle and Veronica Dynes. Uncle Errol “Uncle E” is fondly and lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who always enjoyed his friendship and happy spirit. Son of Robinson and Edna Dynes (predeceased). Youngest brother of Hazel (predeceased), Mabel, Bob and Vernor (predeceased), Lorne, Lucille and Reg. Errol enjoyed socializing in the community, and was known for his outgoing nature, trademark “handshake”, his friendly smile, and daily discussions with friends and family over a cup of coffee at Tim's. A lover of music and dancing to the big band sounds, and in his younger years, an avid baseball and hockey player. Wearer of many hats; potato farmer, elected trustee of the Simcoe County Board of Education, a school bus driver, grocer, farming (Hamilton Brothers), and maintenance at the Simcoe County Board of Education. He was a warden, and a member of the cemetery board of the Church of the Redeemer in Duntroon. A general handyman and proud carpenter who would undertake any challenge. His last project, of which he was very happy to do, was replacing a walking bridge over the river, and restoring replica buildings of Hamilton Brothers in Renee's Park at the Hamilton Homestead, Glen Huron. In retirement, he enjoyed vacationing in Florida, visiting family in Oklahoma, logging hours on his John Deere mower, golfing and marshalling at Duntroon Highlands Golf Course. He was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays and Raptors. Anyone who knew Errol, were very aware of his political views (Bill O'Reilly, Fox News). A lifelong positive and determined attitude was evident throughout his life, and helped ease the trauma of his illness on family and friends alike. Friends will be received on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. at FAWCETT FUNERAL HOMES - Collingwood Chapel, 82 Pine Street. A wizard in the kitchen, a keen bridge player, an avid gardener and a wonderful hostess, May's kind and generous spirit will be sorely missed by her family and many friends in Kitchener-Wateroo and across Canada. NEUTENS, Maurice Joseph - a resident of Ridgetown. Maurice J. Neutens passed away after a long, fulfilling life, on Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Village Nursing Home, Ridgetown. Born in Belgium in 1910, came to Canada in 1915, son of the late Adiel & Eugenia (Naessens) Neutens. Husband of the late Mary (VanLeirsberghe) Neutens (1992). Beloved father of Eleonora & Jake Mieras, Chatham; the late Henry (2009) and Peg Neutens, Ridgetown; Jim & Mary Neutens, Knoxville, Tenn. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jan and Janet Mieras, Carol Mieras, Yola Oczkosky; Mary Margaret and Fraser Heatherington; Jon and Kim Neutens, Michael Neutens; Elizabeth and Emily Neutens. He was one of the original founders of Kent County Fertilizers, was an ardent supporter of the Plant Food Council, Fertilizer Institute of Ontario and the Canadian Fertilizer Institute. He promoted the use of commercial fertilizers to his customers by service and agronomic advice. Maurice received the TFIO Award of Merit in 1984. He was chairman of the St. Michael's Catholic School Board and a trustee on the Ridgetown District High School Board, and a faithful supporter of St. Michael's Catholic Church. HEMEYER, George Cecil February 8, 1911 - March 1, 2009 George Cecil Hemeyer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the age of 98 years. George was born in Calgary, AB and worked forty-five years for Consolidated Concrete. He was an avid sports fan which included hockey, football, as well an avid fisherman. His passion would be his family who meant a great deal to him. George was very well respected. He will be greatly missed and was loved by all who knew him. George is survived by his loving family, two children, Lawrence George and his wife Marguerite, Marlene Rockley and her husband Ken; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; his cousin, Joan Key and numerous other relatives and friends. POITRAS, Eileen It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful mom, grandmother and friend, Eileen Poitras. She passed away peacefully on March 1, 2009 just days before her 67th birthday. Eileen is survived by Edwin Shaw, Tammy Shaw, Laura Shaw-Riddell (Art) and Keith (Dung) Poitras, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Ruby and son Ward Shaw. Eileen was retired from the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, where she was happily employed for more than twenty years. She is no longer bound by physical and mental limitations and we are sure the friends that went before her, are very happy to see her beautiful smile. ZOSIUK, Iris Mary August 18, 1945 - February 28, 2009 It is with much love, sadness, sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Iris Mary Zosiuk at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the age of 63, after a lengthy and courageous nine year battle with ovarian cancer. Iris was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on August 14, 1945 and grew up on the farm. In 1964 she married Peter, her best friend and love of her life. Throughout their years together they traveled the world, enjoyed life to the absolute fullest and had far too many friends to even count. Reading, traveling, shopping, painting and pottery were just a few of the many things she took pleasure in. But above all the most important thing was her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren were truly what life was really about. In February 2000 she was diagnosed with cancer and the battle began, but she never gave up. She was truly our hero. Her determination to live life to its fullest never wavered. In 2005, Iris' dream of a family home near the mountains started to take shape in Jaffray, British Columbia. Everyone's wish was to have the home complete before she was gone and the family made every effort to make it happen. Iris will be sadly missed but her spirit and memories will stay with us forever. Her life was grand and may heaven rejoice! Iris is survived by Peter, her loving husband, best friend and soulmate of forty-five years. She is also survived by her children, son Glenn (Janet) of Calgary and their children Joshua and Luke; daughter Michelle (Dwight) and their children Jeremy and Cole; as well as special granddaughter Amanda Nordstrom. Also surviving are her sisters, Elsie (Nelson) Remenda of Saskatoon, Nettie (John) Stefaniuk of Saskatoon, Audrey (Bill) Cherneski of Cudworth; brother Bill (Elsie) Brychun of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. HIBBARD, Frank Gillmor Stevens June 9, 1938 - February 26, 2009 Our Papa, Frank Hibbard, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 26, 2009, while on a holiday with Nana in the States. He was born in Sheet Harbour, NS and grew up in eastern Ontario with his two sisters, June and Elizabeth Ann. He graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Toronto in 1961, and worked for Imperial Oil for twenty-eight years. He met our Nana when they were twelve years old in Bancroft, ON, but they did not get married until they were twenty-three. They were true childhood sweethearts, and he often called her his "Bride", but mostly they just called each other "Dovey". Their kids, Steve and Laurie, were born in Toronto, but the family moved to Alberta in 1978. Laurie married Len Marchand in 1991 and Steve married Laurie Podiluk in 1993, and that is where the story gets interesting because after that is when the five of us grandsons came along: Miles, Noah and Keegan Marchand and Wolf and Quinn Hibbard. Papa was a huge part of our lives. We travelled a lot together, and we especially loved our trips to Mexico. Papa was very proud of us and our accomplishments. He and Nana loved to watch us play our many sports. We loved seeing the photos of Nana and Papa's many retirement trips and travels all over the world, and hearing the stories. Papa was a great story-teller and had an awesome sense of humour. He had other interests besides us though. He loved golfing, computers, wine, great books, sudoku, "wing night", the Flames, playing cribbage and bridge, and his many, many friends. We hope we can all grow up to be as great and as loved as our Papa. We will miss him so much. Mrs. Deborah Ann "Debbie" Smith December 29, 1947 - February 23, 2009 Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, surrounded by her loving family after a long and very courageous battle with thymic cancer. A very loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Debbie meant the world to her family. Born in Halifax on December 29, 1947, Debbie was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Stafford) Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Corbett) Channing (Peter), Lucasville; brother, Graham (Patricia) Smith, Lower Sackville; nephew, Michael Smith; niece, Laura (Andrew) Young; grandsons, Liam, Seth and Noah Channing. Debbie was a woman with a heart of gold who absolutely loved caring for her grandsons and watching them grow. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Harold Alton Ward March 2, 1920 - February 24, 2009 Harold A. Ward passed away on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at The Moncton Hospital following a brief illness. Born in St. Stephen, NB, on March 2nd, 1920, he was the son of the late Melvin and Lulu (Murray) Ward. Harold was a Veteran of the Second World War, having served as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from Lounsbury's Truck Division, Moncton as a mechanic. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing & especially ice fishing on the Molus River and his passion was refurbishing antique cars. This passion led to Harold receiving a lifetime achievement award at the 2008 Atlantic Nationals. He is survived by special friend, Carole Lutes, sons; Ronnie (Paulette), Randy (Claudette), daughters; Heather (Dave), Bonnie all of Moncton and daughter in law Joanne Hearn, Edmonton, AB. Grandchildren Jason, Amanda, Natalie, Ryan, Trevor, Cody, Justin, Ashton and Alyssa. Great-Grandchildren Logan, Taylor, Emma and Kaylie. Brother in law Leon Olsen (Diane). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Hazel (Olsen) in 2001, and his children Bruce, David and Lou'ann. Mrs. Wenda N. Duhy December 28, 1946 - February 27, 2009 Wenda Duhy, wife of Malcolm Duhy of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 27th, 2009. Born in Saint John December 28th, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Lillian Wood. She is surived by her husband of 38 years, Malcolm; daughter, Angela Duhy-Osmond (Paul) and daughter Ashley Duhy; son James Duhy; brother Doug Wood (Paulette) and their children Aaron, Matthew and Meaghan; and life long best friends Helen and Ruth; as well as extended family and friends. Wenda was creative and free spitited and enjoyed various organizations, hobbies and interests. Above all else, she was dedicated to her family and friends. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation prior to the memorial service to be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 14th, 2009 at Fair Haven Funeral Home. Mrs. Rita Theresa Davison November 7, 1918 - February 24, 2009 Rita Theresa Davison age 90 of Amherst passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Amelia (Gaudet) Landry. Rita was mother and houswife who dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchild. She had a passion for travelling, a wonderful sense of humour. Rita was a Red Hatter and loved attending Red Hat gatherings where ever they were. Rita a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Charles/Holy Family Parish. She was a wonderful person and will be very sadly missed by her family, her dog Baxter and all who knew her. Rita is survived by three daughters Marie Rita (George) Damery of Amherst, Anne (Trevor) Lawless of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Margaret (Gerald) Harburn of Carberry, Manitoba; seven sons Leonard (Bonnie) Davison of Martin's River, NS, Bob (Ida) and Michael (Karen) both of Amherst, Richard (Dale) of Cambridge, ON, Larry (Marilyn) of Niagara Falls, ON, Gary of Dartmouth and David (Buffy) of Oromocto, NB, 40 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, one sister Isabell Tower of Amherst, one brother Ernest Landry of Amherst and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard in 1991, infant daughter Elizabeth in 1953, infant granddaughter Catherine Marjorie Chapman in 1965 and brothers Clarence, Edgar, Fred, Meddie, Aurele and two in infancy and sisters Yvonne and Agnes. Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (667-9906) with visitation on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Mrs. Victoria I. Lutes September 16, 1920 - February 22, 2009 Victoria Isabella Lutes, 88, of Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, and formally of Riverview, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009. She will be sadly missed by her only son Richard Ricker and his wife Brenda. Born in Haxham, England she was the daughter of the late Harry and Isabella Taylor. Vickie came to Canada when she was nine. Vickie was very active with her church and volunteer work. She was a charter member of The Whitepine Baptist Church, a member of the WMS, and the Seniors Group. She was a member and past president of the ABU Auxiliary. She so loved her Lord! Vickie volunteered 13 years with the Albert County Food Bank and also served as president. Her heart was always serving the goodness of people and her family was most important. Vickie loved flowers. You could always see her admiring them in her flower garden as well as other peoples. She loved collecting antiques with her second husband Bob. Vickie was very politically minded, worked at all the elections and “Frank” was her boy. Vickie is survived by her only son Richard (Brenda) of Riverview. Three grand children, Jeff (Lorelei) Fredericton, Kim of Irishtown and Scott (Debbie) Scotch Settlement. Five Great Grandchildren, Keith, Jeremy, Amanda, Brian and Kara. Two Great, Great Grandchildren, Madison and Lauren. One brother, Alvin Taylor (Shirley) of Niagara Falls. Predeceased by her first husband Herman Ricker and her second husband Robert Lutes. Two brothers, John and George; six sisters, Helen, Alma, Dorothy, Mae, Edith, Eva, and a grandson Todd. There will be no visitation as per request. A private family committal service will be held. "Sandy" (Sonia) of Dutch Settlement; David A.I. of Ardoise; Bradley A. (Kelli-Lea) of Dartmouth; Warren A. of Stellarton; Lee A. of Amherst and Tara A. (Trevor) Watson-Arseneau of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Gordon Rhys, Teaghen, Geraldine, and Jessica; brother, Richard J. (Lin) Watson of Saskatoon, Sask.; and sister, Marilyn (Dan) Munroe of Calgary, Alta.
