KENT, Velma May - Peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor on Saturday, January 10, 2009, Velma May Kent, age 81 of Sarnia. Beloved wife of the late Ernest W. (Bus) Kent (1995). Brother-in-law of Hal Calvert of St. Thomas. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Dear friends to Don and Elda Jury of London, Phil and Cathy Stewart of Sarnia, and many other friends. Imelda Johnson - À l’Hôpital Stella-Maris de Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, le dimanche 11 janvier 2009, à l’âge de 85 ans, est décédée Imelda (Comeau) Johnson, épouse de feu Hubert Johnson. Née à Saint-Ignace, elle était fille de feu Antoine et Emerise (Barrieau) Comeau. Elle laisse dans le deuil six filles: Solange Thebeau (Eric), Elise Stewart (Wilbert), Emerise Babin (Yvon), Bernice Arsenault (Rheal) de Saint-Ignace, Gemma Johnson (Juliano) de Gatineau, Qc et Rose Mai Daigle (Vincent) de l’Aldouane; trois fils: Gerard (Geraldine), Lorenzo de Saint-Ignace et Sylvio (Denise) d’Acadieville; deux soeurs: Alma Ouellette de Saint-Ignace et Alice de Saint-Jean; trois frères: Gerard et Aurele de Saint-Ignace et Alyre de Moncton, ainsi que 18 petits-enfants et 20 arrière-petits-enfants. Elle laisse aussi une amie spéciale de la famille, Aldoria Richard. Une fille, Huberte; un fils, Adrien; deux soeurs: Marie et Diana, ainsi que quatre frères: Sylvain, Alphee, Emile et Yvon, l’ont précédée dans la tombe. Mme Johnson aimait beaucoup le golf et elle laisse derrière elle sa partenaire de golf, Yvonne LeBlanc. Les visites auront lieu à compter de 14h, le mardi 13 janvier, à la Maison mémoriale Thompson de Saint-Louis-de-Kent. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola de Saint-Ignace, le mercredi 14 janvier, à 16h. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial, au printemps. MARWOOD, Harry (H.K.) - teacher, plumber, pilot, photographer, scuba diver and captain of the tug “Phoebe” passed away peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre on Friday, January 9th, 2009 three days after his 83rd birthday. Beloved husband of Margaret. Dear father of Julie (Edmund) Lea, Jennifer (Tom) Rade; and the late David. Loving Grandfather to Jeremy Lea and Scott Rade. RYAN, Colleen Patricia - After a brief battle with cancer, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side at Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday, January 10th, 2009. Dearly loved mother of Jeff Kenneth Luxton of Calgary, Kelly Lee Luxton of St. Thomas and their father Kenneth Clifford Luxton of North Bay. Much loved grandmother of Megan Dupuis. Dear sister of Barbara-Ann Buehl (Peter) of Duncan, B.C. Colleen was born in Kirkland Lake, the daughter of the late Patrick and Ethel Ryan (North Bay). She is fondly remembered by family, friends and former workers and sadly missed by “Charlie” (her feline friend). Colleen was retired from Bell Canada and had worked in several locations throughout Ontario and Quebec. She enjoyed spending time with her grand daughter and handcrafted many lovely crocheted gifts for others and was an avid animal lover. She also had a keen interest in figure skating and a was a teacher of power skating. PATAKFALVI, Albert - With sadness the family of Albert Patakfalvi announces his passing at the Welland Hospital on January 10, 2009 at the age of 87. His giving ways have touched so many lives and loving spirit will live on in the hearts that knew him. He will be forever remembered by his loving wife Caroline (Pylypiw) for over 67 years. Dear father of Joanne Galloway (Jim) and Gail Millar (Robin). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Kerri Ann Niro (Tony), Rob Millar, Brad Galloway (Tiffany) and brothers Dan (Alice) and Charlie (Vicki). In his younger years he played basketball, softball and always enjoyed watching his brother Dan's hardball games at Burgar Park. When he retired from John Deere as a Tool and Die maker, his passion for life continued where he enjoyed woodworking, golfing and fishing at the family cottage which he helped to build on Stony Lake. He left a legacy of beautiful clocks to many family and friends. Thank you to Dr. A. Sayed and Dr. Claire Miller and the health care team. Reginald (Nails) Profit, Halifax Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 65, of Boutilier’s Point, formerly of Charlottetown, P.E.I., passed away January 5, 2009, in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Winnifred (Freda) Profit of Charlottetown. Reg served eight years with the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy). He was a school bus driver with the former Halifax County School Board for 21 years. When time permitted, Reg and Kay would enjoy camping at River Land Campground in Elmsdale, and visiting relatives and friends in P.E.I. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kay”; sons, John (Julie), Seabright; William “Woody” (Kathy), Simms Settlement; Greg (Lynn), Salem Arms, B.C.; daughter, Marie (Glen-Skip) Passfield, Boutilier's Point. Grandchildren, Jessica, Christian, Ryan, John David, Brooke and Miranda. Survived by brother, Captain John K. Profit, CD, Charlottetown; and sister-in-law, Dianne. BRISARD, Francis 2009-01-12 March 20, 1914 - January 9, 2009 With her family by her side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Francis Brisard. Born in Lansdowne House, and during her many years, she spent time in Auden, Lamaune, Armstrong, Dorion and Nipigon. Francis spent much of her life trapping, fishing, hunting, farming, picking blueberries, cooking and playing solitaire. She had great spirits and she loved them too! Momma is survived by her children Annette (Victor), Theresa (Arti), Marie (Nils), Oswald (Irene); brothers Frank (Irene) and Steve; and daughter-in-law Pearl; generations of grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews and her extended family at the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital. Pre-deceased by her husband Joseph; sons Gaetan, Dollard, Gerald and Roy; daughters Marie, Alice and Charlotte; grandchildren Dollard, Pauline, Sydney and Sandra. RISK, Elizabeth Ann 2009-01-12 Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Risk, 96 years, of Nipigon, Ontario passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Dawson Court Home for the Aged, Thunder Bay, Ontario with her family by her side. Elizabeth was a life member of the Catholic Women‘s League and an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, blueberry picking and bowling (even as a senior). Elizabeth was a very good pianist and liked to draw, crochet and bake. MERCIER, Jacques o.p. 1923 - 2009 Au Pavillon Alfred-Desrochers, Montréal, le 8 janvier 2009, est décédé le Père Jacques Mercier, dominicain. Il était âgé de 85 ans et 8 mois. Originaire de Montréal, il était le fils de feu Louis-Philippe Mercier et de feu Adèle Rousseau. Entré chez les Dominicains en 1944, il a fait profession religieuse le 4 août 1945 et a été ordonné prêtre le 14 avril 1950. Après son ordination, il fut tour à tour vicaire en paroisse (Ottawa), recteur du Centre du Rosaire et de St-Jude (Montréal) et prédicateur de retraite (St-Hyacinthe). En 1968, il partit pour le Mexique. Il y travailla comme missionnaire pendant plus de 25 ans, avant tout dans les milieux pauvres et marginalisés. Après son retour en 1995, il assuma quelques responsabilités, mais la maladie l'amena à se retirer progressivement. Le Père Mercier laisse dans le deuil, en plus de sa famille religieuse, des neveux et nièces ainsi que des cousins, cousines et amis. Il sera exposé le lundi 12 janvier, de 14 h à 20 h 30, au Couvent Saint-Albert-le-Grand 2715, chemin de la Côte-Ste-Catherine Montréal Il y aura veillée de prières à 19 h 30. Les funérailles seront célébrées en l'église conventuelle du Couvent Saint-Albert-le-Grand le mardi 13 janvier à 10 h 30. McNUTT, Ronald “Ron” - Passed away at his home, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, January 11, 2009. Ron was the beloved husband of Catherine “Cathy” Burrows, he was 75 years old. He was the loving father of John and his wife Heather of North Bay and Peter and his wife Nikki of Petawawa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Peter, Samantha, Jack and Ann-Marie. Dearly loved brother of Bill and his wife Marie also of North Bay. Ron worked as the Office Manager for the City of North Bay's Social Services Department and also was the Administer of the Ontario Northland Railway Employees Benefit Association for 41 years. He and Cathy were married October 4, 1958 here in North Bay, and this past October it was the families pleasure for them to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with them. Ron was a Member of the Nipissing Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #420 and a member of the Independent Order of the Oddfellows. Ron's family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, January 14th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. A Masonic Lodge Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel Wednesday at 2:50 PM.
