HOPE, John Hart - It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of John Hart Hope on Dec. 26th, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 92. John was a very accomplished forester, pilot, sailor, horseman, businessman and Rotarian. He owned Field Lumber Co. in Field, ON from 1956 to 1980. John loved to explore and share the north. He touched many lives and was always glad to share his passions with them. He was very supportive to all his family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne (Manson); his 5 children - Nancy (Arthur), Carol (Michel), David, Patricia (Walter) and Martha; 2 grandchildren – Ashlea and Letitia; his sisters Ruby (Arthur) and Leona and his brother Eric (Cathy). At his request there will be no funeral. The immediate family had a private memorial service on Dec. 27th. If so desired, donations can be made to Knox Presbyterian Church (315 Muskoka Rd. WINTON, Donald George (Bud) - October 6, 1934 - January 2, 2009 - Life is not measured by the number of days one is alive but by the enduring love and memories that fashioned one's life. Bud will be greatly missed by each of us who knew and loved him. His epic stories, chocolate cake, prime rib dinners and his fix-anything tool pouch will not be forgotten. It is with great sorrow that our families announce Bud's death at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, ON. He is survived by his loving wife Anita (nee Cunningham), his children and their spouses: Dawn (Ilan), Lee Ann (Tony), Andrea (Dwayne), Jamie (Mary) and his grandchildren: Leigha, Daniel, Anthony, Lisa, Jake, Amber, Nicholas, Philip, Christian, and Madeline. McCURRIE, Dorine The family of Dorine McCurrie announce with sadness the death of their Aunt and Sister-in-law on January 7, 2009 at the Prince of Wales Manor. Dorine was the only daughter of the late Charles P. McCurrie and Rose G. Daley, of Ottawa, and sister of the late Major Charles J. McCurrie, RCAF, of St. Catharines. She was the dear Aunt of Coleen Myers (Fred) of Willis, Texas, Nina Darrell (James) of Brantford, Ontario, Diane Mitchell (Allan) of London, Ontario and Patrick McCurrie (Susan) of St. Catharines, Ontario. Also surviving her are her Sister-in-law, Marguerite McCurrie of St. Catharines, Ontario, 5 Great Nieces, 4 Great Nephews and 3 Great Great Nieces. Dorine was born and raised in Ottawa. She had many interests but her two great loves were her music and her church. Dorine graduated from the Faculty of Music (University of Toronto) and the Royal Conservatory of Music and went on to study voice under the direction of Pauline Bartholdy-Mendelssohn (Ottawa) and Dr. Frank LaForge (New York City). She was a well known singer and performed many concerts including three soloist appearances with the Ottawa Philharmonic Orchestra. Dorine was also a very active member in various ministries in her church, particularly in the CWL and the St. George's Funeral Choir. She is resting at Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street West, Ottawa. Visitation will be on January 11, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George's Roman Catholic Church, 415 Piccadilly Avenue, Ottawa, on January 12, 2009 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the family plot at Notre Dame Cemetery.
