Bill a former farmer of Martintown was a person of many accomplishments. This is but a few. Bill was dedicated to his family and the land. He was never idle. His knowledge in mechanics kept his equipment well maintained. Even after farming ceased, he worked on small engines. Bill's wisdom in agriculture was often called upon. He received numerous awards for his crops and also received best salesman recognition. In addition to the farm, Bill took time for scottish dancing, bowling and yes, playing cards. He was always ready to play euchre. It wasn't unusual for Bill to play a joke or two. Create a smile and life was easier. When all is said and done, Bill will always be with us. He is waiting for us and when the time is right, we will be together again. Remember, do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date. FOLEY, Donald WWII Vet. RCAF Passed away peacefully Thursday January 1, 2009 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late June. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children; Gary (Terry) of Edmonton, Lynn (Colleen) of London, and Debbie (Rick) of Peterborough and beloved pet Abby. Dear grandfather of Warren (Kendle), Krysta (Marc), and Tyler (Jolene). Predeceased by his brothers; Horace (Gert), Reg (Doris) and his sisters Margaret (Ellis) and Vivian (Cyril). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Don served 29 years with the RCAF, retiring as a Warrant Officer. He then pursued a college diploma in Electrical Engineering which lead to the next 15 years of employment with the National Energy Board of Ottawa. Throughout his military career Don was fortunate to have lived abroad in Europe and he travelled extensively. During his retirement he enjoyed a love for antiquing and collectibles. These last six years living in Peterborough Don enjoyed being a member of the Mapleridge Seniors Centre Bridge Club and his weekend visits to the Lakefield Flea Market to meet with friends and share his love of collectibles. BAIKIE, Hugh Edward. 1934-2009. In his seventy-fifth year, succumbed to a brain tumor. Beloved husband of Marilyn (Wall). Loving father of Teddy, Missy, Mark (Karen), Scott and his loved granddaughters Kirsten and Hailey. Brother to Roger (Ruth), many nieces and nephews and the Matsubuchi family. Dear brother-in-law to Robert and Annette. In the seventies Hugh invented the TUUK hockey skate blade, he also took pride in being a Lieutenant in the Army Reserve. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Petrecca for his tireless commitment to Hugh's care extended beyond our expectations. Special thanks to MNI staff and many friends, especially Helen, Peter, Cathy and sister-in-law Pat who showed their continuous love. Dear regards to Sonya and Tinker Bell of Lindsay Re-hab for their compassionate care. BOALER, Rose-Marie July 13, 1954 - December 31, 2008 Rose-Marie Boaler, beloved wife of Ronald Boaler of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 31, 2008. Rose-Marie (nee Bogdan) was born in St. Boniface, MB, on July 13, 1954. She lived for many years in Winnipeg, MB, but followed the love of her life to Calgary. Rose-Marie was a feisty little firecracker who was passionate about family and home and was happiest being surrounded by those she cared about. With her tenacity she had a knack for perfecting anything she turned her hand to, but was famous for her cooking and entertaining. Mostly, however, she will be remembered as a beautiful, graceful woman; a generous friend and tireless colleague; and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Besides her loving husband Ronald, Rose-Marie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Dennis LeDuc of San Francisco, CA, and Pamela and Doug Thorneycroft of Calgary; a granddaughter Julia; and siblings and extended family in Alberta, Manitoba, and British Columbia. CHRISTENSEN, Laura Agnes Born February 18, 1924 in Cudworth, SK, Laura passed away peacefully on January 1, 2009 at High River, AB. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gayle Burns (Robert Douglas), Joyce Burns, Janice (Gerald) de Denus and Patricia (Bruce) Vokey and by her grandchildren, Sterling and Dawn, Gregory and Michael, Jason and Christopher (Shayla). She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Bertha Rigelhof, brother Richard and husband Bernard. Throughout her life, Laura was active in her community and church, working in administrative positions and generously in volunteer services. She was an expert needlewoman and expressed her talents in painting, bridge, golf and gardening. DEMONE, Robert - DEMONE, Jean - This is to notify the friends and family of the passing of Robert and Jean Demone, of St. Catharines, Ontario. Jean passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 and beloved husband of fifty-six years, Robert, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008. NIELSEN, Ronald D. (Ron) October 14, 1944 - December 27, 2008 Ron passed away on December 27 after a tragic fall. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Myrna, daughters Krista and Amber, sister Myrna Popove, brother Roy Nielsen, as well as many caring nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Svend (1969), mother Lillian (2005) and sister Shirley (2008). Ron was a highly respected senior IT management consultant. He was President of GNA Consulting Group; served on the National Board of the Canadian Information Processing Society, and had been President of the Vancouver and Calgary CIPS sections. Ron was also a member of industry advisory committees for computing programs at BCIT, Douglas College and Langara College. Ron served on the Capital Campaign committee for the David Lam Campus, of Douglas College, as well as serving as a member for several years on the Douglas College Foundation. "A Celebration of Life" Service will be held on Wednesday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 690 Burrard, Vancouver, BC. THOMPSON, Dorothy Lillian 1922 - 2008 Dorothy Lillian Thompson passed away at her home in Calgary, December 25, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Dorothy was born in Lomond on the farm July 25, 1922 of her parents Albert and Ellen Thompson. She attended school at Badger Lake and took two years of high school in Lomond. From there she went to the General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1944. She nursed in the TB Sanatorium in Edmonton for many years, moving to Olds General Hospital as a surgical nurse. Moving to New Westminster working again in surgery, she took more administration courses in Saskatoon and was Matron of the Hospital in 100 Mile House. When she moved back to Calgary she worked in Home Care for several years. Through all her travels, she met many people and was always looking after somebody. She always took extreme interest in her nieces and nephews and their children. Along with her crafts that she loved to do, knitting, flower arrangements, and art, she loved her flowers. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Ellen Thompson, brothers Leonard and Henry Thompson, sister Elsie Thompson, nephew Bill Thompson, niece Marjorie Jordan. She will be remembered by her sister Clara Bride of Vulcan, sister-in-law Arline Thompson of Brooks, niece Elaine (Dick) Hall and families of Vulcan, Susan (Bob) Hodgson and family of Duchess, Linda Thompson and family of Brooks, nephew Darcy Jordan and family of Lethbridge, nephew Larry Jordan and family of Port Coquitlam, B.C.
