McARTHUR, David. 1949-2008. Suddenly, at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Montreal, on November 30, 2008 at fifty-nine years old. Beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. JORDAN, Randolf August 9, 1961 - December 8, 2008 Born the son of William Thomas and Lorraine Jordan (nee Power) of Pouch Cove, NL, Randy was a fun-loving family man and a dedicated member of the Canadian Armed Forces/Navy Medical Services division. Taken from us far too soon at the age of 47 years, he passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 of heart disease. He will be greatly missed by Lorraine and William Jordan; his loving wife Valerie Dawn Jordan (nee Paisley); sons, Randolf William and Donald Patrick; daughter Heather Amanda; and niece and daughter-at-heart Amy Rebeccah Davies. He is also survived by five siblings, Eileen, Billy, Daphne, Clarence, and Calvin. All mourn his loss. FILIPOWSKI, Anne Marilyn B.A. - With heartfelt sorrow, but thanksgiving for her life, Anne died on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, Toronto, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Welland, Ontario, November 10, 1965 she attended Eastdale Secondary School and was a graduate of University of Windsor. Anne was the beloved daughter of Cassandra (Pyrce) Filipowski and the late Walter Filipowski. She was much loved by her brother, Walter of Welland. She is predeceased by her grandparents John and Anna Pyrce, Uncle John, Uncle Frank and nephew Jim. Anne will be sadly missed by her loving and caring godparents, Janet Gojmerac of Alberta and Ted and Ruth Pyrce of Cheektowaga, New York and their families. Also many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Anne was an International Business Analyst for Bodog Music in Toronto. She had worked for the Taiwanese Trade Centre in Toronto and B.C.S. Kaplan Educational Centre in Vancouver. Family and friends, old and new will remember Anne for her beautiful smile, the love of music, quick wit, laughter, elegance and generosity. BELL, Glenn Philip It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Glenn who passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on December 8, 2008, at the age of 61. Glenn was born in Calgary, April 17, 1947 and lived with his parents in various cities in Alberta and then California. He came back to Calgary before finishing high school and started a successful career in the architectural drafting field. During this time he married and had one son, Wesley. His career turned entrepreneurial, and Glenn was self- employed in the construction industry, participating in many developments in the Calgary and Alberta area. Throughout the years Glenn supported the communities through work with Servants Anonymous Society. Glenn loved to travel and over the years saw a great many places in the warmer climates of Central America. Along his travels whether at home or abroad Glenn loved people most of all. He loved to talk to and get to know anyone who was near, and would begrudge no one big or small the opportunity of his time or hospitality. Grandchildren Eric and Max will miss Grampa as well as son, Wesley and daughter-in-law Liz, father Cliff and brother Robin. As per Glenn's wishes, no Funeral Services will be held but his ashes will be spread on a warm climate beach at the first opportunity that we can arrange. CHOMANY, Audrey May Audrey May Chomany passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice on December 10, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Audrey is lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her, including her daughter and best friend Debra (Ron); her "Quiet Warrior" Robert (Lynn); sisters Joanna Wensink with whom she shared life, love and laughter every day, Phyllis Harrison and brother Ted Chapman; granddaughter Melissa, her shining light; grandson Bradley to whom she was his champion. Audrey is also survived by Joe (Papa) Chomany whose strength was ever present in her life. Her dear dad, Francis Percival Chapman, her forever hero, predeceased her on December 10, 1970, followed tragically a year later on December 10, 1971 by her nephew Frank Chapman at the age of twenty-three and mother Hilda May Chapman in 1989. Audrey's journey was a long straight set path wrought with challenges and rewards she endured with strength and dignity. She took the time each and everyday to appreciate life and all it had to offer, sharing her road with all who chose to walk beside her. Audrey now soars with her brother the eagle as she watches over us and continues on her journey safely in the hands of her Lord. DUNNING, Gail Beloved wife of Bob of Airdrie, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 10, 2008. Gail will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laurie Mattucci (Mike Dockman), Ron Dunning; five grandchildren, Rocky, Nico, Brianna, Jenna and Riley and brother Robert. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Kay and stepmother Beatrice. Gail was born in Barrie, Ontario on September 12, 1947 weighing in at 2.2 lbs. She was a fighter from day one having won her first battle with cancer a few years ago. She was a friendly, organized and outgoing woman who loved her family and was loved immensely. Gail would often put her own concerns aside in order to help others in their fight with cancer by using positive thinking and having a positive attitude. Gail always made sure to say "I Love You" before each good-bye in case she did not get the opportunity to again. She will be sadly missed. FARQUHARSON, Diane Helen (nee McLean) April 18, 1941 - December 8, 2008 Diane Farquharson, cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the age of 67 years. Diane was born on April 18, 1941 in Brownlee, SK and was the eleventh child in a family of thirteen children. Diane moved to Calgary in 1963 and married Graham Farquharson, to whom she was happily married for forty-four years. She guided her family with love, kindness and protection. Diane loved entertaining and hosting family celebrations, she always took special care of everyone who walked through her door. Diane and Graham travelled to many exotic locations throughout the world and established many lasting friendships with fellow travellers. She also enjoyed creating crafts, watching old movies and spending time with her family and friends. Her family will sorely miss her. Besides her loving husband Graham, Diane is survived by her daughter Arlene; her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Arlene; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Diane, Ryan, Kyle, and Jared; her sisters, Dorothy, Rose, Nina, and Darlene; her brothers, Gerry, Clare and Wilfred; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Margaret was born in Portobello, Scotland. She enjoyed traveling and met Douglas in Calcutta, India. Their marriage took place back in Portobello on June 9, 1956, but they soon immigrated to Vancouver, then onto Calgary where she devoted her life to her family. JOHNSEN, Richard Arild (Rick) November 24, 1943 - December 9, 2008 Rick, beloved husband of June Ninette, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family. He will always be remembered in the hearts of his children, Shawn (Kerry), Kristina (Don) and Christian (Angela,) his grandchildren, Chris, Eli, Hannah, Alisa and Orin, his sister Anne-Marie, her husband, Carl and their son Dan. He will also be missed by his co-workers at Finning and the Sandum family, whose farm he worked on since his immigration to Canada in 1959. In his native Norway, he will be missed by his family, Bjorn and Liv Langbraten, Gunnar and Gerd Arveland and many friends. Rick's passion was his family and he worked endlessly to make sure they were always provided for. We will always smile remembering him laughing at silly cartoons, how he always knew the current price of bananas and how no one could top his Sunday morning feasts. LINVILLE, Charles Roy Beloved husband of Patricia Linville of Calgary, passed away at the Cedars Villa on December 10, 2008, at the age of 88 years. MOSLEY, Edward John Edward John passed away peacefully in his sleep in Port Alberni, BC on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 83 years of age. He is survived by his wife Margaret Mary, two children, Eric (Karen) and Martin; two granddaughters Courtney and Whitney, a sister Helen Holmes of Caledon, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. PHILLIPS, Russell Hilton The family of Russell Hilton Phillips regrets to announce his sudden passing on December 7, 2008 in Calgary. Born on October 2, 1922 at Hamiota, Manitoba, he was the third and last surviving child of Ralph Arnold Phillips and Hazel Rose Reid. Russell grew up on the family farm, leaving at the age of eighteen to enlist in the Canadian Army. He served from 1941 to 1945, ultimately as a Gunner with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, seeing action in France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Following that, Russell enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1946 to 1949, where he trained as a mechanic. He worked for Canadian Pacific Airline Repairs in Manitoba and later as an auto mechanic in Calgary and Trail, BC. Russell then worked for CP Rail in Nelson, BC and in Calgary before retiring in 1987. Dad loved camping in his "bucket of bolts" and spent many enjoyable summers as a volunteer host in the Ghost/Waiperous area campgrounds. An avid curler, he was also a lifelong baseball and hockey fan. Russell was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Russell, in 1955 and by his siblings; George, Thelma, Verna, Merle (George) Flynn, Elsie (Harvey) Still and Ted. He is survived by three children; Donna (Les) Trathen, Gordon (Gwen) Phillips, and Wendy (David) Schultz; his beloved grandchildren Susan (Larry), Laura, Greg, Scott and Michael and his sister-in-law Odile Phillips. CARSWELL, Joan (née Summers) 1923 - 2008 - The family announces with sorrow her death at Casselholme, Home for the Aged in North Bay, Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Daughter of the late Vine Summers and of the late Lilliane Lowe. Wife of the late Murray Carswell, predeceased in 1965. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by the Bain family, the Hillburn family as well as by Boyd Stewart and family and the Raymond Sauvé family. Joan was a well known and well respected teacher. She taught in the Cache Bay and Sturgeon Falls area for most of her career, retiring in 1983 from the Frank Cassey school in Sturgeon Falls. Upon retirement, she moved to the Powassan area. She then took residence at Casselholme in North Bay to receive the necessary medical care. A committal service will be held at Union cemetery, Sturgeon Falls in the spring. CHAPMAN, William - The family announces with sorrow his passing at North Bay General Hospital on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the age of 83 years while surrounded by family. He was proud of his country and of being a veteran of WW11 and was a soldier with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry during wartime and the Canadian Signal Core during peacetime. It was during peacetime while in Holland that he met and married the love of his life, Frieda Jansen who passed in 1999. He loved his family unconditionally and will be forever remembered by his son Wayne (Louise) and daughter Dawn (Eric) and grandchildren, Todd, Mandy and Melanie (Marcus). He also leaves behind three beautiful great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Collin and Amara. Predeceased by brothers, Doug, Armand, John and sister, Claire. Visitation at McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 service in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel. ELIA, Erminio “Duke” - On Wednesday December 10th, 2008, Erminio suddenly passed away at his residence, with his family at his side at the age of 73. Beloved partner of Shearley van der Harst, dear brother of Angelina Mancuso, Emma Scarpino of Italy, and Maria Saporito and brother-in-law of Mary Elia. He is survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada, United States, Australia and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Marietta, his sister Yolanda and his brother Frank. Erminio arrived in Canada from Italy in 1953 and was well known for his masonry construction skills. Erminio is at the Morse & Son Chapel of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, where his family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday evenings from 7-9 pm.
