PIERSON, Sarah Elizabeth - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on November 11, 2008 in her 89th year. Sarah was the loving wife of the late Howard (1987) and predeceased by her sons Robert (1996) and Allan (1991) and daughter-in-law Bonnie (1990). She is survived by her cherished sons Donald (Kathy) and Douglas (Marty) of Niagara Falls, Richard (JoAnn) of Port Elgin and daughter-in-law Lydia of Niagara Falls. She was the proud grandmother of Donald Jr. (Rose), Peter (Lisa), Scott (Ruth), Steven, Beth Chadwick (Rob), Michael (Sue), Matthew, Ramona (Darius) Remesat, Darby and Tyler. She will miss her sixteen great- grandchildren as they will miss her. Sarah is survived by her sisters Freda (Cliff) Maunder, St. Catharines, and Doris Smith (the late Jesse), Ancaster and her brother Fred (Jackie) Lusignea, Marmora, ON. Sarah is at the MORSE & SON CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 5917 Main Street, where her family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services to celebrate her life will be held on Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the funeral home. MYCIAK, Dmytro - Passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Tuesday November 11, 2008, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Mary. Loving father of Joseph (Brunina), Eugene (Mary Lou Blatchley), and Lesa. Proud grandfather of Alexander, Nicholas, Christina and Peter. Born in Ukraine, Dmytro left his homeland to work in Germany during the Second World War. There he met and married his wife, Mary, of 62 years. Together they moved to England to begin a new life. Four years after the birth of their first son, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Welland, near Dmytro's brother, Theodore and his family. He worked at Stelpipe (Page Hersey) for most of his life and was a long supporting parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. The Myciak family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where Panachyda will be sung at 7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday November 14, 2008 at 10 o'clock, at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. PROCEE, Minke (Taekema) - In her 91st year, with her loving family by her side, Minke Taekema Procee passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, Ontario on October 28, 2008. Beloved wife of Titus Procee who passed away in October 1997 after 58 years of marriage. Dear mother of Elisabeth, Teena, Maaike (Robert Lines), Stephanie, and Marcella (Allan Benson). Pre-deceased by sons Jack (Jacob) and Sidney (Sijtze). She will be remembered fondly by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Minke Taekema was born in Bergum, Friesland, The Netherlands and emigrated with Titus and their five children to build a new life in Canada in 1953. The couple were active long term members of the Christian Reformed Church and the Dutch community in the Barrie area. COULAS, Michael James Joseph (World War II Veteran, Retired from Bell Northern Research) Mike was born in Brudenell Township in Renfrew County on July 25, 1923 and passed away peacefully in the Ottawa Civic Hospital on November 8, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Mike was predeceased by his parents Walter Stephen Coulas and Teresa Foster, by his wife Evelyn, his son Kevin, his brothers Walter, John and Ambrose and his sister Margaret Barrett. He is survived by his sisters Kay Chatterton of Ottawa, Teri Nichols (Jack) of Dunrobin, Julia Ruddy of Golden Lake and many nieces and nephews. Mike served with distinction with the Canadian Armed Forces in WWII. He saw service in England, France, Holland and Germany. He will be missed by his many friends and neighbours to whom he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Following cremation, there will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery on Saturday November 15, 2008 at 11 AM. Donations to the charity of your choice can be made in his honour. FOSTER, F.G. Carey. 1910-2008. Carey's journey of life came to an end peacefully, November 10, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of sixy-nine years, Frances; His daughter, Susan Danko (Barry Wood); His grandchildren, Shawn (Lana), Memphis, TN; Sheri (Scott), Vancouver, BC; And his great-granddaughter, Alexa, of Montreal, QC. He will be remembered for his jokes and story telling, his love of lawn bowling and his old-fashioned manners, by which he lived his life. He was truly a gentleman. A special thank you to Irene for taking such good care of Dad, and thank you to all the staff on 3B at Leisureworld Gate. There will not be a funeral in Toronto, instead we will hold a celebration of his life this Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. His remains will be taken to Montreal in the spring, where he will be buried with his son, Bill. Beloved daughter of the late Winnifred McShane and Daniel Newman and predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Rita will be sadly missed by her sister Helen Mahoney and many nieces and nephews. COOTE, Dr. Allan Peacefully, at Meadow Park Retirement Lodge on Saturday, November 8, 2008, Dr. Allan Marwick Coote, of London, Ontario in his 93rd year. Cherished husband of Jean Sinclair Coote (nee Cavin). Lovingly remembered by brother Wesley and the late Edith Coote, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Devoted uncle of many nieces and nephews. Dr. Allan Coote will be dearly missed by many family members and friends. Predeceased by sisters Kathleen Williams and Myrtle Kerr and brothers Irving and Darwin. Dr. Allan Coote graduated from University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Science degree and University of Toronto with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Allan was a member of the professional group at L.H.S.C. who created the Day Hospital for Outpatients and was their first volunteer to provide free dental treatment of indigent patients. Dr. Allan is one of the founding members of Byron Ski Club, a member of Ontario Dental Association, Dundas Street United Church, London Figure Skating Club, London Ysmen's Club and the Fanshawe Yacht Club. KOEHLI, Ormond October 14, 1927 - November 9, 2008 Ormond Samuel Koehli, beloved husband of Helen, passed away peacefully after his third valiant battle with cancer, at the age of 81. Ormond is survived by his loving wife Helen; older brother Oswald of Daysland, AB; and step-children John (Janice) Devaney, Maureen (Zhenya) Sokolovsky, and Neil Devaney. Ormond was an active member of the Daysland community, where he still has many friends and relatives, before moving south to Calgary. He worked for Rogers' Rent All, and Sears Canada Service Center, where he met Helen. All those who knew Ormond knew his special affection for animals and theirs for him. As all of his friends from the Forest Lawn Senior's Center can attest, Ormond's passion was playing Crib, but he also greatly enjoyed taking part in all of the other activities at the Center. CHRISTIE, Michael Ronald, “Ron” 2008-11-12 Michael Ronald, “Ron” of Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 9th at Hamilton General Hospital. Born May 18th, 1942 in Fort William, Ron served in the Royal Canadian Navy (1959-1964) before attending George Brown College and returning to Fort William to start a family. They moved to Red Rock where Ron worked with Domtar Paper Mill before settling down in Thunder Bay, where he worked with Bowater as a Machinist until his retirement. The “Bossman” loved spending time with family and friends, gardening, traveling and meeting new people. Ron was loved for his big heart and unique sense of humor. He was predeceased by his father Michael, mother Virginia “Reggie”, brother Alan, aunts Olga and Stella, mother and father-in-law Nell & Bill Silver and trusted companion Tupper. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 42 years Eileen, children Steve, Michelle (beloved granddaughter Dale Murray), Colin (Seoul, S. Korea), Sean (Kyla Radomsky) (Edmonton, AB), brother Donald and wife Helen, cousins Joan Harding and sons Kirk & Chris (Oakville, ON) and Pat Henderson (Sandy and children Kristi & Jonathan). He will be especially missed by his best friend Lorne Horbacio. The family would like to express their appreciation to the surgeons and nursing staff at the Hamilton General for their dedication and support. A service dedicated to Ron‘s memory will take place at t he Knights of Columbus Hall (301 May St. S) on November 13, 2008 at 11:30 am. Cremation will follow at a later date.

MAKI, Reino (Ray) Jonnar 2008-11-12 Reino (Ray) Jonnar Maki, Born October 17th, 1918 passed away peacefully in his sleep at Dawson Court Home for the Aged, on Monday, November 10th, 2008 Formerly of 19 S. Clarkson Ave, Ray was employed by various Insurance Agencies since graduating from Hillcrest Highschool in 1937, the last 10 years with Dewhurst INS LTD. Retiring in 1983. Ray is survived by two sons Howard (Patricia) and their children Christina (Jeff) Mitchell, Lisa (Terry) Niemi and Juanita (Andy) Roehrig, Dennis and his children Katrina, Miranda and Jessica. Ray is also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Helen in June 1981, brother Albert in 1976, brother Walter in 1994, mother Hilma in 1966 and father Hjalmar in 1979. After retiring on 1983, Ray spent 12 years working as a volunteer office worker for the Canadian Diabetic Association. Ray and Helen spent many years enjoying the family cottage at Lake Shebandowan, fishing, reading and hiking. He continued going to the cottage with his sons until moving to Dawson Court. Many vacations were taken with Helen to Florida and the Bahamas, he also enjoyed many years in League Bowling. Ray was a member of Branch 5 Royal Canadian Legion. Margaret Winslow in her 88th year, was the loving mother of Jim Cawley of Big Valley, Alberta, Janet Cawley of Toronto, Jennifer Coady and her husband Michael of Cambridge and Krysta Cawley and Gord Temple of Aurora. Margaret was the proud grandmother of Laura, Lea Margaret, Jordan, and ALbert Andrew. She was the dear sister of Alfred, Arthur, Doris, Winifred, David, Ruth, and the late Ellen, and George. PAQUETTE, Bernadette (nee Stephenson) - July 12, 1917 to November 7, 2008 - The family announces, with sorrow, her death in Hospice care in Kamloops, B.C. on Friday November 7, 2008 surrounded by loved ones. Bernadette graduated as a registered nurse from St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto in 1938. She was married in Toronto in 1944 and moved to Sudbury where all seven of her children were born. The family moved to Timmins in January 1957. Bernadette and Adelard owned and operated the Russell Hotel. After Adelard's death in 1969, Bernadette continued the business until her retirement in 1975. She wintered in Florida for 20 years with her two sisters where her artistic talent began to flourish. We are grateful for her strong faith and her generous spirit which touched so many lives. Predeceased by her husband Adelard (Aug 1969), her parents Levi and Margaret Stephenson, her brother, Brother Nicholas and her sister Rita Hearne. She will be deeply missed by her children, Yvonne Menzies (Tim) Barrie, Gerald (Debi), Helen Smith (Edson), Donald (Rose) all from Timmins, Bernie (Edith) White Rock B.C., Walter (Daphne) Vancouver and Marilyn Dufresne (Denis) Kamploops B.C., her sister Helen Drohan in Guelph and by many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Shawn Paquette (Tusha), Kelly Prevost (Nelson) their mother Ann all from Timmins.
