DOMINICO, Merelyn Lynne - Passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Princess Margaret Hospital. Beloved wife of Jack. Dear mother of Peter and Kim and her wonder dog Luca. Predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Fred. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Susan; nieces Emma, Alysha and Julie; nephews Michael and Paul; and brothers-in-law Richard and Chris. Lynne was part owner of the Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball Club was inducted into the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Lynne was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her Rock Garden. TESSIER, MARCEL - (1940-2008). Passed away peacefully at Cassellholme on Sunday, November 9, 2008. Marcel is survived by his children Kelly (Mike Wheeler), Kimberly (Andrew McClellan), Kevin (Lisa) and grandchildren, Chantal and Michelle Wheeler, Kyle, Mason and Connor McClellan. Dear brother of Claire (Claude St. Cyr), Estelle (Gilles Vaillancourt), Ghislaine (Claude Lefebvre), Pierre (Gib), Michel (Shirley) and Denis (Wendy). Predeceased by his parents Juliette and René Tessier, five sisters Thérèse, Florence, Noëlla, Françoise, Francine and two brothers Albert and Maurice. Marcel was an avid hockey player and fan. He played for the Kapuskasing GM in 1962 and they were the first Northern Team to win the Ontario Championship in 23 years. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins farm team for a number of years and drove taxi for 50 cab in North Bay. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium. STREET, Grace - In her 91st year, died at her home in Greenville, Michigan on November 10, 2008 “absent from the body“ she is with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Grace was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Winifred Crone and by her brothers Walter, Melvin, Douglas and sisters Merle and Zelma. Survived by her loving husband of 70 years the Rev. Norman H. Street, her sons Paul (Lorna) and Phillip Street and daughter Norma (Doug) Sower, six grandchildren and their spouses and eight great-grandchildren. Greatly loved by members of five churches served by her pastor husband, Grace was always actively involved in ministry in Sunday School, choir and as her husband's secretary. WATSON, James Ivan - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of James “Jerry“ Ivan Watson. He passed away peacefully at his home on October 30th, 2008. He was 102. He was a loving and dedicated father to Judith Kennedy, dearest grandad of David (Hafeeza Jaffer) and Eran Kennedy (Tom Feik) and great grandad to Sofie and Colin Feik. Predeceased by his beloved wife Madeline “Maddie“, parents James and Isabelle, brother Glenn, and many nieces and nephews. Jerry's long life began in Toronto, Ont. on June 24, 1906. He married his sweetheart, Maddie on November 27, 1937. A banker with the CIBC for over 40 years, Jerry and Maddie finally retired in Orillia, Ont. often traveling to Florida and Mexico as “snowbirds“. Legendary for his quick wit and humorous turn of phrase, Jerry was also best known as a gentle man and a gentlemen. He loved his family beyond measure and set the benchmark for our words and actions. His passions in life included golf, fishing, cars and an abiding love of nature. Always patient and kind, his curiousity toward life itself will be lovingly remembered. We are better for having known him for he loved us and we loved him well. Beloved wife for 64 years of the late Reverend Dr. Frank H. Morgan (2006), much loved by her family Diane (Brantford), Susan and Alan Sears (Birmingham Alabama), Sarah Sears-Egeli and Hakan Egeli of Virginia, and Katherine, Samantha and Todd Pitts (Georgia). Helen is also survived by her sister-in-law Audrey Morgan (Ottawa) and many nieces and nephews. Wilburt was the beloved husband of Connie Spencer, in his 85th year. Loving father of Nora Elliott- Coutts (husband Don) of North Bay, and Robert Bob (wife Debbie) of Thorold. Dear grandfather of Rob Elliott and Derek Elliott. Wib is survived by his brothers Dinty Elliott (Shirley), and Gordon Elliott (Norma), and sister-in-law Shirley Amos (late Harold). He will be sadly missed by his canine friend Charlie, and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Tom Elliott (Mary), sister Betty Grozelle (late Verne), and brother-in-law Bernard (late Raili). Wib worked at North Bay Hydro for 28 years, retiring as secretary-treasurer in 1986. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of North Bay, and past chairman of the North Bay Public Library Board. Wib was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church, and was involved in the Scouting movement for over 20 years. ELDER, Dr. Robert Dr. Robert (Bob) Howard Elder died peacefully in his sleep on November 11, 2008 at the age of 88. He is remembered with love by his wife Suzanne (nee Racine), his children Michelle (Paul Martin), Paul (Sherri), Peter (Christine Harkin) and Steven (Wakana Kitamura). He will be missed by his grandchildren Geoffrey, Nicholas, Liam, Benjamin, Sebastian and Josephine. Bob grew up in Tillsonburg, Ontario, in a loving and musical family. He served in the Canadian Medical Corp in WWII, and then attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario. After a distinguished career in Medical Microbiology ending as Chief of Laboratory Medicine at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Bob continued to work as a consultant in this field that he loved so much. His retirement years centered on his children, grandchildren and activities with his wife Suzanne. Even though Alzheimer's began to limit his abilities, Bob always displayed a spirit of contentment and thankfulness for a rich and varied life. Thank you to all the staff of the Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for making Bob's final years comfortable. R.C.A.F. 1st Pilot Officer 1942-1945 January 8, 1924 - November 8, 2008 James William Strutt (Jim) passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 8, 2008. Loving husband of the late Audrey Elizabeth Strutt (nee Lett); Beloved father of Lesley Strutt, David Strutt (Anna), Katherine Meredith (David) and Jocelyn Tronsgard (Ken); Beloved brother of Esther Waring; Grandfather of Shannon Butters, Deidre Butters, James Meredith and Nicholas Strutt; Brother-in-law of William Pittman Lett III (Pat). He is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Jim will be remembered for his integrity, enthusiasm for life, generosity of spirit, insatiable curiosity, joy of discovery, insightful guidance and inspirational teaching, as well as by his magnificent legacy of architectural works. A graduate of Ottawa Technical HS (1942), he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, becoming a pilot and serving his country through to the end of the war. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree at University of Toronto (1950). Jim was Chairman of the Ottawa Chapter of the Ontario Association of Architects, elected as President of the OAA in 1959, and served in various roles at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) including Vice-President, Registrar and Dean of the College of Fellows. Jim was a most prolific producer of 'Modern Canadian Architecture'. His praxis, influenced by the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and Buckminster Fuller evolved into a very distinct reflection of the man, his time and place. His Uplands Airport Terminal (Ottawa) was one of the first post-war buildings to combine art and architecture, incorporating the work of Louis Archambault, and he incorporated the work of sculptor Eleanor Milne into the Canadian Nurses Association Headquarters. For the Canadian Centennial, Expo'67, he was selected to design Plaza de las Americas. His residential explorations in hyperbolic paraboloid construction are often reviewed. Many of his buildings have won awards and several are now designated heritage. From 1969-1986, James taught many of today's practitioners and educators, becoming the Director of the School of Architecture, at Carleton University, in 1977. He continued to mentor students and Interns until recently. Jim felt strongly that the practice of architecture is creative and a good practitioner constantly evolves. To quote him, "Creativity is the expression of self which is generative". He was at the forefront of his profession and the bulk of his life's work (over 5,000 drawings) now forms part of the permanent collection of the Library and Archives of Canada. A huge thank you to Dr. B. Zanke, for his thoughtful guidance and treatment of James over many years and to the Colonel By Residence staff, Care Matters, General Hospital staff and the Elisabeth Bruyere Palliative Care team who attended his every need with such great care and giving during his final days. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service in James' honour will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 420 Sparks Street, Ottawa, on Monday December 1st at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow. COLLINS, Kenneth John December 25, 1931 - November 10, 2008 Ken Collins, beloved husband of Irene Collins of Mirror, AB, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008, after a sixteen year battle with cancer, at the age of 76 years. Ken was born on December 25, 1931 in Toronto, ON. Since then Christmas has always been a double holiday for him. Ken's life was devoted to aviation which began in 1951 while he served in the Air Force until 1965. Ken then worked as a maintenance engineer. He had twenty years of experience as corporate pilot, worked as a flight instructor and following his retirement volunteered as an inspector of home built aircrafts. Ken flew one hundred and two types of aircrafts. He built a few airplanes and his last project, his favourite the "Delta", was never finished for him to fly. Besides his loving wife, Ken is survived by two sons, Keith and Kirk; and his sister Beverley Hutson. COOTE, Dr. Allan Peacefully, at Meadow Park Retirement Lodge on Saturday, November 8, 2008, Dr. Allan Marwick Coote, of London, Ontario in his 93rd year. Dr. Allan Coote will be dearly missed by many family members and friends. Predeceased by sisters Kathleen Williams and Myrtle Kerr and brothers Irving and Darwin. Dr. Allan Coote graduated from University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Science degree and University of Toronto with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Allan was a member of the professional group at L.H.S.C. who created the Day Hospital for Outpatients and was their first volunteer to provide free dental treatment of indigent patients. Dr. Allan is one of the founding members of Byron Ski Club, a member of Ontario Dental Association, Dundas Street United Church, London Figure Skating Club, London Ysmen's Club and the Fanshawe Yacht Club. Cheryl will be sorely missed by her loving husband Jim; and the light of her life, her young daughters Alexandra (Alex) and Sophia. Cheryl will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sister Sheila, step-parents Rick and Cheri, mother, numerous siblings, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandparents and countless friends. Cheryl was a wonderful and caring mother and wife and had a strong base of family and friends. She had the highest dedication to the kids who always made her light up and who will never forget her as she lives on inside their hearts forever. Her family and friends were also very important to her as she was to them. Cheryl grew up and spent most of her life in Calgary. Upon graduation from SAIT, she worked in the residential building industry for many years with Swan Homes. For all who knew her, she demonstrated her strong dedication to her family, career and life and will be forever remembered in our hearts as the kind, caring, selfless and compassionate person that she truly was. Her smile and laughter will never be forgotten by all, as she could light up your soul and warm up your heart with her gentle and kind spirit. Leona was born on October 31, 1930, in Egmont Bay to her late parents, Victorin and Eufreda (nee Gaudet) Arsenault. Beloved wife of Ivan Pineau and loving mother of David (Janet), Paula (Darrell) Arsenault, Donnie (Karen), Susan (Joe) MacIntrye, Dennis (Barb), all living in Summerside and Allan (Sonia) of St. George, N.B. Also lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Spencer, Jordan, Nathan, Jillian, Danielle, Jessica and Grace, also one great-grandchild Amani and several nieces and nephews. FINCH, Frederick James 2008-11-12 Mr. Frederick James Finch, age 91 years, resident of Clarkson Street passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Hospice on Monday November 10, 2008 with his daughters by his side. Born in Winnipeg, Fred moved to Port Arthur when he married Vera, and was a long time member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Above all, Fred’s daughters, his grandchildren and great-grandsons were his life. He is survived by daughters Audrey (Neil) Love and Patricia Finch of Thunder Bay, Grandchildren Kristin (David) Reguly of Calgary, Paul Love of Thunder Bay, and Kerri (Scot) Dawson of Hamilton, Great grandsons Andrew Reguly and Cole Dawson, and one sister Evelyn Doyle of Winnipeg Manitoba. His wife Vera, his parents and one sister predeceased Fred. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14th, 2008 at 11:00am at St. John’s Anglican Church, 226 Pearl Street with Rev Ruth Ferrier officiating. MAKI, Reino (Ray) Jonnar 2008-11-12 Reino (Ray) Jonnar Maki, Born October 17th, 1918 passed away peacefully in his sleep at Dawson Court Home for the Aged, on Monday, November 10th, 2008 Formerly of 19 S. Clarkson Ave, Ray was employed by various Insurance Agencies since graduating from Hillcrest Highschool in 1937, the last 10 years with Dewhurst INS LTD. Retiring in 1983. Ray is survived by two sons Howard (Patricia) and their children Christina (Jeff) Mitchell, Lisa (Terry) Niemi and Juanita (Andy) Roehrig, Dennis and his children Katrina, Miranda and Jessica. Ray is also survived by 14 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Helen in June 1981, brother Albert in 1976, brother Walter in 1994, mother Hilma in 1966 and father Hjalmar in 1979. After retiring on 1983, Ray spent 12 years working as a volunteer office worker for the Canadian Diabetic Association. Ray and Helen spent many years enjoying the family cottage at Lake Shebandowan, fishing, reading and hiking. He continued going to the cottage with his sons until moving to Dawson Court. Many vacations were taken with Helen to Florida and the Bahamas, he also enjoyed many years in League Bowling. Ray was a member of Branch 5 Royal Canadian Legion. At Ray‘s request, no memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place, and a private family internment will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com

RUSSELL, Gary 2008-11-12 July 1, 1944 ~ November 8, 2008 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in Kenora. Gary is now reunited with his parents Jack and Jean Russell. He will be greatly missed by spouse Barb Favreau, son Kelly (Carrie) Russell and daughter Corrine (Todd) Pritoula. Wonderful Grandpoppy to Madison, Devin, Mikayla and Samantha. Dear brother to Gail (Ray) Tilson and Janet (Dario) Rigo. Fondly remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to cousins Leonard (Sandy) Doust and Donna (Don) Brunton for all of their support. Gabby was happiest when he was fishing with family and friends or watching any hockey game. Gary‘s loving nature, sense of humour and generous spirit will live on in our hearts and lives forever. Special thanks to Dr. Joel Kroeker, Dr. Tim Wehner and intern Ravi of Kenora General Hospital for their support and care during Gary‘s illness. JOHNSON, Margaret (née Bowman) - Passed away at the Timiskaming Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Margaret is predeceased by her husband Carl (1995), mother Beatrice (née Hamilton) in 1996 and father Alexander in 1935 and 1 brother Alexander Jr. in 1955. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children Robert (Jeanne) of Sudbury, Judy Veinot of Kirkland Lake, Carol Johnson of Vancouver, B.C., Lyle (Pauline) of Scarborough, Margaret (David) of Creston, B.C. and a special daughter Margaret Rose of Kirkland Lake. Forever missed by her grandchildren Tony (Natalie) of Hamilton, Brian of Hamilton, Patrick (Pauline) of Whitefish, Carol (Bill) of Garson, Angela (Bill) of Caledon, Stephanie and Scott of Scarborough; dear great grandchildren Fox, Drake, Kohlton, Anna and Luke. Margaret is also survived by her brother George and Doris Bowman of Alliston; niece and nephew Bonnie and Barry Bowman as well as a great nephew Christopher. Margaret also leaves to mourn a longtime friend Millie Baird of Teck- Pioneer Residence. Beloved wife of 74 years to Cornelius “Connie“ Kirwan predeceased September 4th, 2008. Loving mother of Barbara Woolman (husband Jim predeceased) of Sudbury, Christine (husband Denis Tymchuk) of Kukagami and Shawn (wife Christine) of Garson and honorary mother to many. Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren (one predeceased). Dear daughter of Mastai and Donalda (nee Gaudette) Sabourin predeceased. Dear sister of Rhea Hollingshead, Anita Dionne, Lionel and Leonard Sabourin all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Agnes was born in Warren on September 12th, 1913 and married Connie Kirwan in Coniston in 1934. She was an avid card and scrabble player. She was a devout Roman Catholic who attended St. John the Evangelist Church and was a member of their C.W.L. Her greatest joys came from witnessing the many accomplishments of her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the centre of her life.
