Monique Tardif L’Île-Perrot 1941-2008 À St-Jérôme, le 24 octobre 2008, à l’âge de 66 ans, est décédée Monique Tardif, épouse de Gérard Philippe Ouellet. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil son fils, Alain Demers (Nathalie), ses frères et soeurs; Richard (Odette), Pierre (Danielle), Gisèle (Reynald) et Suzanne, sa petite-fille Catherine ainsi que Myriam et Marylou. Elle laisse également de nombreux parents et amis. Hannah Smiley 1923-2008 'A la Villa Providence, le mercredi 12 novembre 2008, à l'âge de 84 ans est décédée Hannah Smiley, épouse de feu Alexander Smiley, domiciliée à la Villa Providence, mais autrefois de la rue Dock à Shédiac. Née le 26 décembre 1923 à Aberdeen, l'Écosse, elle était fille de feu William et Jemima (Milne) Ferguson. Une épouse de guerre, Hannah est arrivé au quai 21 à Halifax, Nouvelle-Écosse à bord de l'Aquitania, le 10 avril 1946. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois filles: Eleanor Clements (Edgar) de Pointe du Chêne, Marlene Smiley de Montréal, QC, et Linda Léger (Jacques) de Trois-Ruisseaux; deux fils: Alan (Geneva) et Michael (Annette) de Shédiac; quinze petits-enfants: trente arrière-petits-enfants, ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Elle était le dernier membre vivant de sa famille immédiate . Son mari Alexander (1988), deux enfants: Alexander et Jacqueline; deux soeurs: Jen et Margaret, ainsi que plusieurs demi-soeurs et demi-frères l'ont précédée dans la tombe. La dépouille mortelle est exposée à compter de 14h, le vendredi 14 novembre, à la Maison funéraire Frenette Chapelle et services de crémation, 396, rue Main à Shédiac (532-3297). Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Saint-Joseph de Shédiac, le samedi 15 novembre 2008, à 11h. L'inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. KALTENBRUNER- It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Irene Kaltenbruner on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by her mother and father, Annie and Henry Kaltenbruner; brothers, Wes (Amy), Ken (Mary); sister, Ethyle (Don) Elder; nephew Kenneth Kaltenbruner; brothers-in-law, Ron Robinson and Peter Vensland. Irene is survived by her sisters, Janet Robinson and Shirley Vensland; nieces and nephews, Donna (Vic) Lutz of Virginia, Betty Earl of Toronto, Harold (Linda) Kaltenbruner of Lethbridge, Carol (Bill) Clarke of Edmonton, Barb (Dan) Rio, Ronalee (Grant) Findlay, Bill Robinson, Diane (Doug Rhodes) of Assiniboia, Linda Vensland of Edmonton. Irene's life was her nursing career, friends and family. She was born in 1914 in Drinkwater, SK. She graduated from the School of Nursing at Regina General Hospital in 1936. She nursed many years in Portland except for 1944 1946 when she served with the U.S. Army in China. She returned and worked as the Maternity Head Nurse at Emanuel Hospital and Medical Centre in Portland until her retirement in 1977. Irene returned to Regina at the age of 80 where she spent her time visiting friends and family. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. The interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Regina Memorial Gardens, #1 Highway East (please meet at the gate). Flowers gratefully declined. POLDERMAN, Marcel August 29, 1952 November 7, 2008 Passed away in Hospice with his loving wife, Marjan, by his side. Marcel was predeceased by his parents. He will be sadly missed by Marjan, his brothers Bing and Dick and their families, his family overseas, as well as numerous friends. Marcel was born in Holland and came to Canada at age 3. Most of his life he lived in Victoria, but while visiting Holland met Marjan. They married in 1998 and shared ten loving years together. Marcel worked 20 years in the real estate business. He took great pleasure in helping clients to buy and sell their homes. He was an honest, caring, knowledgeable person who had great integrity and spoke with conviction. He loved all sports, both playing and watching. Travelling and nature and capturing them on film was a joy to him. Special thanks and respect to the Cancer Clinic, Home Care and Hospice. By Marcel's request there will be no service. He is predeceased by his mother, Clara and brother David. PATTERSON, Robert “Bob“ - In loving memory of Robert “Bob“ Patterson 70 years, who passed away Saturday, November 8th, 2008 at his residence. Born in Collingwood December 6th, 1937. He married Patricia Currie in 1963. After a brief stay in Haileybury, they happily settled in Sudbury in 1968. Retired from Vale INCO, Bob was an avid golfer and long time member of the Lively Golf & Country Club (group of Mauri Lukkarila and Bill Kilby). An active member in the community, Bob was a lifelong supporter of the Canadian Blood Services and an elder of Calvin Presbyterian Church. The greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren and the times he spent with them. He will be sadly missed by his wife Patricia (Currie) Patterson and sons Frank (Donna) and Ed (Jennifer). Special Poppa to Marley, Calvin, Abbey and Cameron. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Allison Patterson. WATSON, James Ivan - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of James “Jerry“ Ivan Watson. He passed away peacefully at his home on October 30th, 2008. He was 102. He was a loving and dedicated father to Judith Kennedy, dearest grandad of David (Hafeeza Jaffer) and Eran Kennedy (Tom Feik) and great grandad to Sofie and Colin Feik. He married his sweetheart, Maddie on November 27, 1937. A banker with the CIBC for over 40 years, Jerry and Maddie finally retired in Orillia, Ont. often traveling to Florida and Mexico as “snowbirds“. Legendary for his quick wit and humorous turn of phrase, Jerry was also best known as a gentle man and a gentlemen. He loved his family beyond measure and set the benchmark for our words and actions. His passions in life included golf, fishing, cars and an abiding love of nature. Always patient and kind, his curiousity toward life itself will be lovingly remembered. We are better for having known him for he loved us and we loved him well. SAUER, Hazel Elizabeth (nee Chambers) - Peacefully, at Emmanuel Village, Kitchener, ON on Monday, November 10, 2008. Born April 24, 1912 in Sherkston, ON. Beloved wife of the late Merritt Sauer, and loving mother of son Ronald Sauer (Margaret) of Kitchener. Fondly remembered by sister, Lottie Sider of Toronto. Dear aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by an infant son Rodney, and parents Thomas and Eda Chambers and sisters, Luella Hyink and Mabel Jansen. As a child, Hazel lived in Sherkston and Lorraine. She attended Port Colborne High School, then spent some years in the United States prior to her marriage in 1934. She and her husband Merritt subsequently moved to Welland. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Welland, serving in various offices through the years, and was honoured with a Dominion Life Membership of the Baptist Women's Society of Ontario and Quebec. Hazel was a member of the Welland Historical Society and the Bell Collectors' Club of Ontario for many years. She also authored and published several acclaimed family histories. At Hazel's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the Emmanuel Village Chapel, 1250 Weber Street, E, Kitchener (519 748 4814) on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Bethel Overholt Cemetery will follow at a later date. ELDER, Dr. Robert Dr. Robert (Bob) Howard Elder died peacefully in his sleep on November 11, 2008 at the age of 88. He is remembered with love by his wife Suzanne (nee Racine), his children Michelle (Paul Martin), Paul (Sherri), Peter (Christine Harkin) and Steven (Wakana Kitamura). He will be missed by his grandchildren Geoffrey, Nicholas, Liam, Benjamin, Sebastian and Josephine. Bob grew up in Tillsonburg, Ontario, in a loving and musical family. He served in the Canadian Medical Corp in WWII, and then attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario. After a distinguished career in Medical Microbiology ending as Chief of Laboratory Medicine at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Bob continued to work as a consultant in this field that he loved so much. His retirement years centered on his children, grandchildren and activities with his wife Suzanne. Even though Alzheimer's began to limit his abilities, Bob always displayed a spirit of contentment and thankfulness for a rich and varied life. Thank you to all the staff of the Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for making Bob's final years comfortable. COLLINS, Kenneth John December 25, 1931 - November 10, 2008 Ken Collins, beloved husband of Irene Collins of Mirror, AB, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2008, after a sixteen year battle with cancer, at the age of 76 years. Ken was born on December 25, 1931 in Toronto, ON. Since then Christmas has always been a double holiday for him. Ken's life was devoted to aviation which began in 1951 while he served in the Air Force until 1965. Ken then worked as a maintenance engineer. He had twenty years of experience as corporate pilot, worked as a flight instructor and following his retirement volunteered as an inspector of home built aircrafts. Ken flew one hundred and two types of aircrafts. He built a few airplanes and his last project, his favourite the "Delta", was never finished for him to fly. Besides his loving wife, Ken is survived by two sons, Keith and Kirk; and his sister Beverley Hutson. CRAIG, William Robert May 18, 1931 - November 2, 2008 It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of William Robert Craig on November 2, 2008. He will be forever in the hearts of his beloved wife Mary; his sister Eileen; his children Mark, Brent (Khang), Sandra (Andrew), Jon (Joowon) and his adored grandchildren Meghan, Hannah, Zoe, Josh, Aaron, Robbie and Rebekah. He will be greatly missed by his extended family of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and his many nieces and nephews. Bob retired from Petro-Canada after a thirty-seven year career. He enjoyed a fulfilling retirement which included extensive travelling with his wife Mary. Some of his favourite destinations included the British Isles, France and New Zealand which became the subject of his many water colour paintings. He also enjoyed flyfishing, wood carving and furniture making. It was Bob's wish not to have a Funeral. Instead a gathering of his children and grandchildren will take place in the spring, at Brent's farm in British Columbia, to plant a tree in his memory and scatter his ashes underneath it. HUMPHRYS, Evelyn Marion August 12, 1926 - November 9, 2008 Evelyn Marion Humphrys, our mother, peacefully went to be with her Lord on November 9, 2008. She brought her four children to Calgary in 1968 after the death of her husband Frank, whom she now joins. She is remembered by her family and her dear neighbours and friends and for her volunteer work at St. Philip's Anglican Church in Calgary as well as with Meals on Wheels. Evelyn is survived by her sisters Mary and Joan; daughter Cindy Chantler (Trevor); sons George (Linda), James and Peter (Alison) and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mum's world revolved around her love and dedication to her family, her kitchen, her garden and when opportunities arose, the great outdoors, especially the water. She also enjoyed many years serving expectant mom's as part owner in Merrill's Maternity. RAMSAY, John Elbern The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Sunday, November 9, 2008, of Mr. Elbern Ramsay of East Suffolk Road, age 59 years. CHARTRAND,Leon Alfred "Papa Smurf" 2008-11-12 Mr. Leon Alfred "Papa Smurf" Chartrand, 72 years, of Lake Helen Reserve, Nipigon, Ontario passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, Nipigon, Ontario with his family by his side. Leon served with the Canadian Army. He drove for Lakehead Freightways for a number of years and for Nip Rock Taxi. Leon was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan and was well known in the area for his blueberry picking abilities. Predeceased by his parents - Loretta and Joseph Chartrand and by a step-daughter Jennifer Potan; he is survived by his wife Irene Chartrand of Lake Helen Reserve, by two step-sons - Michael Potan (& Gloria Black) of Lake Helen Reserve and Aaron Potan (& Elizabeth Simmons) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, by six grandchildren - Mykel, Mason, D’Arcy, Jared, Chase and Maddox and by four siblings. Resting at his home, 12 Main Street, Lake Helen Reserve, where friends may call after 4 P.M. on Thursday, November 13, 2008. FINCH, Frederick James 2008-11-12 Mr. Frederick James Finch, age 91 years, resident of Clarkson Street passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Hospice on Monday November 10, 2008 with his daughters by his side. Born in Winnipeg, Fred moved to Port Arthur when he married Vera, and was a long time member of St. John’s Anglican Church. Above all, Fred’s daughters, his grandchildren and great-grandsons were his life. He is survived by daughters Audrey (Neil) Love and Patricia Finch of Thunder Bay, Grandchildren Kristin (David) Reguly of Calgary, Paul Love of Thunder Bay, and Kerri (Scot) Dawson of Hamilton, Great grandsons Andrew Reguly and Cole Dawson, and one sister Evelyn Doyle of Winnipeg Manitoba. His wife Vera, his parents and one sister predeceased Fred. Cremation has taken place. RUSSELL, Gary 2008-11-12 July 1, 1944 ~ November 8, 2008 passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in Kenora. Gary is now reunited with his parents Jack and Jean Russell. He will be greatly missed by spouse Barb Favreau, son Kelly (Carrie) Russell and daughter Corrine (Todd) Pritoula. Wonderful Grandpoppy to Madison, Devin, Mikayla and Samantha. EDWARD, Peggy Alison - February 6, 1929 - November 10, 2008 - Peacefully at London's Victoria Hospital at the age of 79 years. The daughter of Fred and Chris Jones, Peggy was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario and graduated in nursing from St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton in 1950. Her nursing career took her to Sudbury, Ontario where she met Peter Edward, her husband of 56 years. After many years in the north, Peggy and Peter resided in the Toronto area before retiring to Niagara-on-the Lake always returning to Manitoulin Island for the summers. Peggy was the consummate caregiver and homemaker, believing family came first. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a beloved Nana. She lived her life with grace and humility. Predeceased by her son Marcel Depatie (Anita of Norwich). Dear sister of Thérèse Ethier (late Laurier) of Welland. Prescille was a very active mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, camping, playing bingo, knitting and playing cards. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the many meals she cooked and the many socks and mittens she knitted and they still wear. In her younger days, she was involved in church tea bazaars, working long hours in the kitchen. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. “Good-bye my family, my life is past. I loved you all to the very last. Weep not for me, but courage take. Love each other, for my sake. For those you love don't go away. DOMINGUE-DODD, Laura (1915-2008) -- À Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, le 30 octobre 2008, à l'âge de 93 ans, est décédée madame Laura Domingue, épouse de feu Robert M. Dodd. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa fille Sandra, ses petits-enfants Derick et Jennafer, ses soeurs Rita et Josette et son frère Ronald (Evelyn), ainsi que plusieurs cousins, cousines, neveux et nièces. Les funérailles auront lieu le samedi 15 novembre 2008 à 14 heures à l'église Saint-Lucien. La famille recevra les témoignages de sympathie une heure avant les funérailles à l'église.
