Mr. Roy Gunn January 6, 1921 - August 7, 2008 - On August 7, 2008 Mr. Roy Gunn of Sherwood park, formerly of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the age of 87. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, his daughter Linda (Clifford) Johnstone, son-in-law Roy Eykelbosh, 4 grandsons; Andrew, Corey, Kelly and Scott, granddaughter Jessica, 3 great-granddaughters; Alex, Malysha and Royanne. Roy was predeceased by his daughter Janice Eykelbosh on July 4, 2008 and recently his sister Dorothy Patterson. A private family service will be held at a later date in Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Mr. David William Garson February 16, 1962 - August 7, 2008 - We remember David Garson who passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in Prince Albert at the age of 46 years. A private family service will be held. David is survived by he loving family: his mother Margaret; brothers Terry, Ken and Wayne; sisters Linda and Roberta; his soul mate Violet (Bugs); cuz and cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and friends he thought of as family. David left a large empty spot that can never be filled. He left us too early but be always said he experienced life to the fullest. Mr. Raymond Francis Thomas Edward Bishop October 10, 1915 - August 7, 2008 - BISHOP, Raymond Francis Thomas Edward - 92, Hubley, passed away at home and into the arms of the Lord on August 7, 2008. He was a son of the late James Thomas and Susan Maude (Walsh) Bishop. He was formerly employed as a steamship checker for Furnace Withy Company, Halterm container terminal and most recently Ceres Corp. container terminal from where he retired at age 71. Raymond loved life and enjoyed fishing, swimming, ice skating, camping and the beach. He also played the fiddle and harmonica. He was a hard worker his entire life and his family was very important to him. He is survived by his second wife, Genevieve Margaret Bishop; daughters, Carol (Sherman) Murphy, Heather (James) Day, Sandra (Ross) Horne, Marcia (Mike) Marcoux, Bernadette (Ed) Griswold, Krista, Barbara (Chris) Bowers, Charlene (Jeremy) Shaw, and son, Michael. He was also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Bernard William "Billy", and sister, Marie Llewellyn. He was predeceased by his first wife, Hazel Catherine; son, Bernard Raymond; daughter, Jennifer Lynn; brothers, James Kenneth, Harold Joseph, and four grandsons. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Mrs. Anne Pearl Bates - August 7, 2008 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Bates of Holbein, Saskatchewan. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 7, 2008 at City Hospital in Saskatoon. Anne is survived by her two sons Gerald (Beryl) of Saskatoon and Alf (Joan) of Prince Albert; her five grandchildren Kevin (Sharon) Bates, Melissa (Trent) Fletcher, Scott (Joanna) Bates, Jennifer Bates and Evan Bates; her five great-grandchildren and many family members in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was loved by her grandchildren, who spent many happy hours at the farm with their Grandma and Grandpa. Her greatest pride, besides the grandchildren, was cooking, tending her large gardens and growing flowers. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred in 1996, her sister Anna Zayets and her two brothers George and William Lysak all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born on July 3, 1955 she was the daughter of Helen Smith and the late Daryl Yeomans. She was blessed with a wonderful friend and companion, Judy McGovern. In addition to her mother and Judy she is also survived by her stepfather, Earle Smith; brother, Tim (Crystal) Yeomans, of Thunderbay, Ont.; sister, Wendy (Daniel) Burrill, of Halifax, NS; many uncles and aunts; nieces and nephews, Lacy Burrill, Melissa Wilson, Joshua Burrill, Nathan Burrill, Issac Burrill, Payce Yeomans and David Wilson; extended family, Wayne (Brenda) Smith, of Peterborough, Ont., Allan (Lori) Smith, of Herman, NY; Nancy (Jon) Underwood, of Cornwall, Ont. and many, many, many friends. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mary (Goodhew) Kennedy. Frank was dedicated worker who loved working at the CBC for 30 years and Convergys for 10 years until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, travel, friends, his grandson and his cats. Frank was a kind and helpful person to all. Mr. Colin Englefield October 6, 1935 - August 8, 2008 - Our dear Dad and Grandad passed away on August 8, 2008, at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton after a short battle with cancer at the age of 72. Colin was born in London, England in 1935, the second of four children. He obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering at Queen Mary College, London in 1957. In 1959 he immigrated to Canada (though he always remained unmistakably English). He continued his studies at UBC obtaining his PHD in 1961, followed by 3 years of postdoctoral research. In 1964 he moved to Edmonton to take up a position as professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta, a post he held for 32 years. In 1966 he married Elisabeth (Elly) Verburg. They made their home in East Whitecroft near Sherwood Park where they raised three children. Elly passed away in 1996. Colin continued to be a loving and much loved Dad, and Grandad to his ten grandchildren, while pursuing interests such as gardening, photography, cyptic crosswords, genealogical research and drinking tea. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him for his thoughtfulness, kindness, gentleness, generosity, patience and sense of humour. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Marianne and Martin van der Ahe, (Jessica, Michelle and Jason), Peter and Michelle Englefield, (Reuben, Asher and Suzanne), Sonya and Greg Hassan, (Natasha, Jonah, Dominic and Samara), brothers Michael and Rodney, and sister Hilary. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Whitecroft Community Hall, 314 East Whitecroft, 52313 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Donald Watson Delaney October 28, 1920 - August 8, 2008 - Donald Watson Delaney passed away in Regina, SK on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis. Mrs. Dorothy Vera "Dot, Dottie" nee Blanchard Bolton July 26, 1925 - August 8, 2008 - Surrounded by love from her family, and with her heart full of love for all, Dorothy passed away peacefully on August 8, 2008 at the age of 83. Predeceased by her daughters Beverly and Barbara and survived by her children Liz Tyson (Bolton), Marjorie Bolton and George Bolton (Cynthia Lapre) her Grandsons Jeff, Rob and Mike Tyson and her many siblings. Dorothy was born in Vancouver B.C. After marriage to Jack Bolton in 1946, they settled on Sea Island where they made many lifelong friends. Dorothy was a long time Woodwards employee and a past Guardian of Jobs Daughters during her 63 years in Richmond. She provided care, support, love and humour to all who knew her. Mr. William Thomas Hatcher August 7, 1922 - August 9, 2008 - HATCHER, William Thomas - 86, Porters Lake, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008, in Twin Oaks Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, with his family by his side. Born in Cookstown, Ont., he was a son of the late Harold Raymond and Jean (Boyle) Hatcher. Bill served in the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served for 25 years, and later worked for the City of Dartmouth until his retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his home on the lake. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis (Green) Hatcher; son, Harold and daughter-in-law, Frances; granddaughter, Tracey; grandson, Phil (Lise); sister, Marian Hines, Texas; brother-in-law, Russ Rivers, Cambridge, Ont. He was predeceased by sisters, Eleanor Rivers, Elizabeth Swan. Special thanks to home care workers, Heather and Shelia, and the staff of Twin Oaks Hospital for their love and compassionate care. Marsha Louise Gifford March 8, 1954 - August 9, 2008 - After a courageous battle with cancer, on August 9, 2008, in her 55th year, Marsha passed with her husband of 28 years, Frank Bonin, by her side. Marsha is predeceased by her father Larry and her nephew Brett, and she will be sadly missed by her mother Florence. She will also be missed by her parents-in-law, Santo and Olga Bonin, siblings Pat, Julie and Cathy, brothers-in-law Richard and Louis, and niece Shannon, and her many colleagues and customers from her 32 years of hairdressing. Born in Lucasville, he was a son of the late Deacon Wesley and Elizabeth Parsons. Bunny was baptized in 1980 and was happy to serve as an usher in the Lucasville Baptist Church until he took ill. He worked at Heffler’s Lumber Mill all of his life until his retirement. Leonard was also a volunteer firefighter with the Sackville Fire Department. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and giving them his advice, working on his cars, and tinkering around the yard. He is survived by sons, Leonard (Virginia), Roland (Barbara), Sheldon (Denise); daughters, Beverly, Carolyn, Norine; brother, Keith (Freda); sisters, Lillian Skier, Karen (Eugene), Corine Langford; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mr. William (Willie, Bill) Alexander Archibald March 31, 1920 - August 11, 2008 - Bill passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Villa with family by his side on Monday, August 11, 2008. Bill was born in Charlottetown, PEI and moved to Saskatchewan with his family in 1923. He attended school at Winton and farmed with his father and brother Robert. In 1941 he enlisted serving 42 months overseas of which 10 months was in active service with the 5th Canadian Anti Tank Regiment in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany discharged in 1945. Upon returning from the war he began farming in the Weldon area. He married Irene Cline in 1973. They lived on the farm until 1983 at which time they moved into Prince Albert. He loved gardening and will always be remembered for his ability to grow the finest roses, glads as well as all other flowers and vegetables. He was actively involved in the horticultural society for many years of which he was acting president for 15. He was also involved with CanSurmount, the Presbyterian Church group activities, Sask. Director for Canadian Rose Society and Lifetime membership of Prince Albert Exhibition Association. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Roberta; his brothers Donald and Robert. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 35 years Irene and her children Grace (Percy) Turner and family of Weldon, Mary Pierson and family of Hawaii, Dennis (Janice) Cline and family of Prince Albert, Bill (Rena) Cline and family of Prince Albert; his brother Roberts family, sister-in-law Marjorie, Greg and family, Julie (Steve) Kremer and family of Tofield, AB, Pam (John) Grambo and family of Birch Hills. Mr. Harry John Husiak August 6, 1915 - August 12, 2008 - Mr. Harry John Husiak, age 93 was called home to the Lord’s house on August 12th, 2008. He was born on August 6th, 1915 in Hamrlik, MB. He came to Thunder Bay in 1945 and on January 1st, 1950 Harry married the love of his life Mildred Riel and together began an adventurous and active life raising their family in Thunder Bay. Harry enjoyed a lifetime career at the Royal Edward Hotel where he enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. His capacity to love increased with every new friend and family member. Harry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. For Harry every minute spent with his family was a time to celebrate. Over the years Harry loved to travel, spending time at his place in Texas, and visiting family in Winnipeg and Vancouver. But his greatest joy was time spent at his camp at Trout Lake surrounded by all who loved him. Harry was a past member of the Lions Club and Connaught Masonic Lodge. Harry was predeceased by his mother and father John and Ksenia (Janie) Husiak, sister Kay Kochaluk, brother Mike Husiak and nephew Jim Daciw. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mildred; children: John (Marilyn Johnson), Lynda, Bruce, Michele Sereda (Harry Einarson), Gina O’Connor (John Petersmeyer); Grandchildren: Kyle and Laura Husiak, Robyn and Trevor Sereda, Tara O’Connor (Frank Albo) and Ryan O’Connor; Great Grandchildren: Louis and Asherah and sister Pearl Hrymchuk (Met). She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, daughter Shirley, son Kenneth and brother Paul. Jean was born on March 9, 1914 in Broadvalley, MB. She moved to Winnipeg, settling in the North End to raise her family. In her later years, Baba loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special love for animals, especially her cats. A gathering in Jean’s memory will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Mr. John E. McNaughton October 13, 1944 - August 14, 2008 - The passing of John Edward McNaughton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on August 14, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with COPD. John was born in Peterborough, Ontario on October 13, 1944. He joined the Black Watch of Canada in 1967 and served with various units after 1970 and retired in 1996 after serving 29 years. John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of forty years; his daughter, Eleanor Bishop (Randy), son, John; his three grandchildren, Ashley, Allya and Hayden; two sisters, Sharon (Don) and Patricia (Syd), of Ontario and also by many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was pre-deceased by his Father, Mother and Stepmother. A memorial service will be held but arrangements are incomplete at this time. Scott is survived by his parents Darla (Keith) Cinnamon and Dan Letourneau; brother Shawn (Lois Laube); grandparents Lloyd and Bernice Moon; step-grandmother Lois Sediman; his fiancé Chelsa Reil and her son Jason; uncle Terry (Judy) Moon; aunts Darcy (Doug) Anderson, Dawn (Larry) Wereschuk, Paula (Howie) Letourneau , Sheila (Paul) Nikiforuk and Pauline (Chris) Olsen; as well as extended family and friends. Scott was always there with a smile, he could bring a smile to those around him; he always made people laugh and was there with a hug in a time of need. Scott graduated from Cochrane High School and was very happy to have a job at Jays Transport in the apprenticeship program as a Heavy Duty mechanic. He excelled in many sports, from baseball, hockey, swimming, diving and tae-kwon-do. He also enjoyed riding his BMX bike and skateboarding, forever trying a new stunt of some sort. Mrs. Theophila "Phyllis" Halchuk - August 14, 2008 - Phyllis was born in Winnipeg to George and Julia (Bogusz) Riffko who were recent immigrants from Ukraine (then part of the Austrian Empire). The family lived in the Transcona area, and Phyllis graduated from Transcona High School which then ended at grade ten, but still an incredible achievement for a first generation Canadian girl. Phyllis married Anthony Halchuk, a recent immigrant from Chernivtsy, Ukraine. Anthony worked at the Dominion Malting Plant in Transcona, and since it was the depth of The Great Depression in Canada, they felt very fortunate to have a steady income for their start in life. They had to learn to be very frugal to make ends meet as they started their family which grew to include three sons and a daughter. Anthony was a skilled carpenter and grew a bountiful garden each summer to supply the family with food for the entire year. Phyllis learned to preserve and store every edible from the garden; and also to sew, knit, crochet—all skills that served the family very well. The proudest moments for Phyllis and Anthony were when each of their four children graduated from the University of Manitoba; first Richard, followed by William, Donald, and Theresa. While Phyllis was raising her family she was also active in UCWLC at St Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Transcona. Phyllis was widowed at age 64, and courageously decided to stay on in her home. She learned to grow a bountiful garden, learned to drive a car, to paint the entire interior of her house. All the self-sufficiency skills she had acquired during the Depression continued to be useful to her. She also joined clubs for socializing and learned to quilt, and also found companions to travel with. At age 83, she decided to sell her house, and moved to Richmond where the climate was milder and her son William (Bill) lived. In Richmond she joined the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the UCWLC. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered for her sweet, gentle shyness, steadfast courage, and incredible skills at self sufficiency by son Richard, Ottawa; son William (wife Mary), Richmond; grandson Kevin (Nancy) great grandchildren Natasha and Max, Kelowna; grand-daughters Leticia, Vancouver, and Jennifer, Toronto; son Donald (Lorraine), Ottawa, grandchildren: Pauline, Australia; Andrew, Ottawa; Peter (Rebecca) Ottawa; Marie, Montreal; Alex, Ottawa; daughter Theresa (Husband Leo Fedoriw), Edmonton; granddaughter Larissa (Michael Symyrozum), Terrace; granddaughter Laura, Edmonton.

Jacqueline Elizabeth Fowler June 9, 1958 - August 14, 2008 - Jacquie Fowler June 9, 1958 - August 14, 2008 Jacqueline Elizabeth Fowler, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2008 with husband Lorne Green and close family at her bedside. Jacquie was born in Estevan, SK on June 9, 1958 to Irene and John Fowler along with twin sister Wendy (Brian, children Cameron, Kelsea). Other siblings include Murray (Dianne, child Michael), Dale (child Connie (James), three grandchildren), Bonnie (Barry, children Barret, Tamara and husband Lane, Tyler), Dennis, Patsy (Darren, children Cody, Haley, Kassidy). She is also survived by her step-mother, Marj; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jacquie is predeceased by her mother Irene and nephew Stuart. Jacquie grew up in Estevan and moved to Saskatoon in 1976 to begin her working life. Jacquie worked at the U of S Registrars’ office before becoming a student at the College of Commerce. Jacquie began her career as a financial planner with Investors Group in 1992. Her key to success was her genuine caring for people and her love for helping others. Jacquie truly missed the smiling faces of her clients after deciding to dedicate her time to taking care of her health in 2006. Jacquie’s life became truly complete when she met Lorne, her sole mate in 1998. They married in 2006. Jacquie will be remembered for her quick wit, determination, perseverance and her never-ending positive attitude. She loved to laugh and with her infectious laugh the mood was always lighter in her presence. Jacquie truly lived life to the fullest with family, friends and loved ones. Jacquie fought a courageous battle against cancer and her family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals who contributed to Jacquie’s care and comfort. Mrs. Margaret McKay Earle August 31, 1915 - August 15, 2008 - Earle, Margaret McKay The death of Margaret McKay (Stroud) Earle of Saint John West occurred unexpectedly at her home on August 15, 2008. Mrs. Earle was the wife of the late William Edward “Ted” Earle. She was born in Ottawa on August 31, 1915, the daughter of the late Bertha Carrie (Hodder) Stroud and Frederick Longman Stroud. Mrs. Earle was a graduate of Saint John High School in 1932, and the former Saint John Vocational School in 1933. She was very active in the community serving as past-president of Brunswick Chapter IODE, Girl Guide Leader, a member of Lancaster Baptist Church, and a long time member of the Historical Society, being well versed in the history of Saint John. Her beautiful home, “the Victorian House” on Lancaster Avenue was the most viewed location by tourists from cruise ships and city bus tours. Mrs. Earle was a loving mother of Peter (Tracey) Earle, RI, Cathleen Gardner, AB, and Carolyn (Gordon) Lawton of Saint John. She is also survived by grandchildren Janice (Norb) Furey, Michael (Susan) Lawton, Keith Lawton, Vanessa and Gareth Gardner, and Olivia Earle, great-grandchildren Grace, Matthew and Makayla Lawton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Hartt and her brother William (Bill) Stroud. She will also be missed by special caregivers Charmaine O’Hearn and Louise Lomax. Margaret will always be remembered and never forgotten by her loving family.
